Really enjoy our regular weekend dim sum visits here. Prawn dumplings, squid tentacles, rice flour rolls (particularly the red roll) and Asian greens are all delicious and very good quality. The restaurant itself is always quite busy (prepare to wait), the interior is lovely and clean and the wait staff are generally very good. Have also been here for dinner several times and the food was all exceptional (honey and black pepper fillet steak is particularly delicious as are the chilli salt prawns). Definitely a higher end Asian restaurant so expect to pay a premium - but the food quality is there so in my opinion it’s well worth it.
First time here. Friendly and fast service. We ordered duck and it was succulent and juice. It tasted so fresh.
Carousel isn’t my favorite shopping location, so I rarely come to this area to have meals. One day, I needed to buy something which only carousel shopping center had this particular product. After finished my shopping, I went into this restaurant to have dimsim. Surprisingly, the foods in here were warm and delicious. I was very happy that I found this restaurant and definitely I will come back
Definitely one of Perth’s top yum cha spots!
My 11 yr old daughter begs to go just for the Shanghai dumplings served in a fish broth - she says if she could only eat one dish the rest of her life this would be it - high praise indeed!
The prawn dumplings have that lovely prawn crunch while tender and juicy.
The owner of the business is always at the helm making certain the ship sails straight and she is friendly and engaging.
Be prepared for a wait on Sunday’s.
My only complaint is that there is no duck so I’m forced to yum cha elsewhere on occasions.
Great experience dining in here for dim sum! Been here a few times. The manager who organises tables might seemed abrupt but she is actually quite friendly (and hilarious too!). I would recommend the usual dim sum e.g har gao (steamed prawn dumplings), salted egg yolk custard bao, steamed cheong fun with bbq pork, salt and pepper fried squid, and their egg tarts are pretty amazing. Recently I had this lovely durian mochi and I instantly fell in love with it, I wish I could have more!
Hong Kong cuisine at its finest in Perth. Amazing service by the staff and personalised menu from owner/manager. Could not do enough for us food was gobsmacking amazing having each dish explained enhanced the dining experience . We have traveled far and wide dining and have now realised the best is on our own doorstep. Thankyou Imperial Court for an entertaining and unique dining experience. We'll be back!
Awesome dim sum lunch that always hits the spot.
The venue is a medium sized space compared to others we have been to in perth. The food always tastes fresh and delicious. My fave from here is the shanghai dumpling (served in the soup rather than inside the dumpling). Service is great, we've had no issues over the last 3 visits.
A little bit pricey overall but you cam definitely taste the difference from other similar restaurants SOR.
Great food fresh from the kitchen arriving piping hot So tasty
Ignore the comments about shouty lady and just watch and enjoy who she is and how she operates, she is actually quiet funny
I would go back to this restaurant in a heart beat
We went here specifically for the yum cha and we were not disappointed! Service was prompt and friendly enough to help us demolish all those dumplings! Loved the pork buns, prawn and chives dumpling and the mango pudding. The manager was very friendly to our group and it's unfortunate that the other reviewers on Zomato caught her on a bad day. I'll be going again without a doubt.
good food and very quick in serving. Dimsum is great here. Just dislike the queue. Service is not too bad here but could be better. personal favourite is the sesame ball. love em!
We were told there is a minimum spend of $30/person. Food is good. Nice ambience. Would come back again. To spend more money on good food lol.
Love love love the dim sum here, especially the egg tart and rice rolls. Surprisingly the roast duck is one of the nicest in town too! Even though some might find the owner/manager to be intimidating, I find her quite the typical person from Hong Kong, straightforward and honest. She can be quite fun when you get to know her.
My favourite local dim sum.
Pluses: free parking, the dim sum comes to your table very quickly (no waiting around - you can have a table full of food 5 min after seating) and the egg tarts are deliciously wobbly and flaky. The waitstaff are pretty attentive, something fairly unusual in Northbridge. Standard dim sum dishes are done well.
Negs: the manager dragon lady has attitude, sometimes long waits at peak times (like everywhere else) and stay away from the xiao long bao - they serve it in a soup?!?
So far one of the best Dim Sum places I've been to in Perth. The egg tarts are my absolute favs where the aroma is beyond pleasant, with the tart crust baked to pretty much crisp perfection. The har gao and Siew mai too were made really well and not soggy like the ones I tried in other restaurants. Defs recommend this place to both Asians and non-Asians

Really good yum Cha . Service was excellent, decor fresh and clean, food was good. Soft shell grab was tender , and wontons crispy . Fried rice was fresh and tasty . Squid not that good .. Owner seemed to be a bit too commanding, need to bring it down a level .
Yummy yummy food. Always ridiculously packed but the clean and bright interior makes it much more comfortable to dine there. Yes, staff can be very emotionless and struggle a little in terms of language but you could almost say that it's the norm in most dim sum establishments (though not a good enough excuse to conform). The Manager gets a bad review here and I totally get it, but unfortunately that is just her persona. It appears she runs a strict and efficient show, so as long as there are long waiting lines outside the restaurant, she probably has no incentive to be courteous and polite. I just don't take it personally.
Probably the best dim sum in Perth in my opinion.... Although I am confident, hands down the bestest, flakiest egg tarts in Perth so make sure you save room for those! Service is meh. Typical hectic dim sum "service."
I would like to come back and try their dinner menu though.
Do not be put off by the negative reviews - give this place a chance and you will not be disappointed. The dim sum IS one of the best in Perth and is very consistent with quality. Definitely beats the other dim sum places south of the river.
We went early today just after 11 and it was already busy but we only had to wait 5 minutes. Ordered dumplings, char siew bao, porridge, chee cheong fun, lo mai gai, and desserts (lao sa bao and egg tarts). Everything was tasty and hot, and the lao sa bao (salted egg yolk custard bun) is to die for - oozy, sweet custard and soft fluffy bun.
The service is 'you get what you give'. If you are nice you will receive nice service. Say 'good morning' and you will get a cheery 'good morning' back. It is common that traditional dim sum restaurants will have a lady boss running the show. She may seem fierce or abrupt but do not take her sense of humour so personally and have a laugh with her then your experience will be enjoyable every time. It might be a culture shock to some but this is just the typical Cantonese lady boss way!
So some final tips: go early, try dishes you haven't tried before (like porridge!) and order Chinese tea to wash it down.
Must be the tastiest dim sum place and my favourite one too, though there are some areas that need some work. For example service is efficient but not very welcoming or kind (language barrier is a problem too) The boss is very intimidating and sometimes cold and rude. It is a very busy place and you often have to wait for long periods of time, but the food is worth it. 4/5
Love this dim sum place!! Definitely my favourite dim sum place! I don't love the interior, but the food makes up for it. The owner is so friendly and The food comes out quick.
Agree, that the dim sum is yum yum, except that the porridge was absolutely tasteless! Also agree that the manageress' service is... Can't find any tactful words to describe it, so best for you to read about it from other reviews. But then again, go for the food, and ignore that woman, you'll be fine.
Was a good dim sum experience, went there before 10:30 and queued up before it was opened. food was nice. Plenty on street parking which was convenient.
Really good satay can be sampled here. My fave Chinese restaurant around south Perth. I'm Fan :).
Love the food! Manageress Phyllis knows her clientele and always serves up exactly what we love. She has a rather abrupt manner but certainly looks after her regulars and this remains my favourite Chinese Restaurant !
This is the first "reasonably" priced Chinese I've had in Perth that was half decent.
Szechuan beef was very tasty. My wife enjoyed the duck.
The service was a little average, but that's not unusual.
I'm normally a Thai food fan but I will be back here when I get that Chinese feeling.
One of our go to for weekend yum cha. Food is always fresh and delicious. The egg tarts here awesome. Only problem is it gets busy so there is always a wait on weekends and service gets stretched. But we will happily come here again.
Brought my mom here for dim sum and she reckon is the best dim sum in Perth! Waitstaff are very attentive and polite, love the giant deep fried wonton, would go back and try their dinner next time
Really good choice of Dim Sum. We had 11 select dishes and all were hot and delicious.
Service was good but hard at times to get attention of waiters as we were in a part of the restaurant tucked away. Manager friendly but brusk at times.
Imperial Court is probably one of my favourites place to go for a morning dim sum due to the friendliness of the staff, cleanliness of the premise and fresh food that they offer. For the weekend, Hubby and I always arrive there around 5-10 minutes after their opening hours to avoid the queue. Parking is not a problem as there are a lot of free street parking available nearby the Imperial Court.
The one dish that I always order was the Shanghai dumplings served in a bowl of soup. The soup has a bit of gingery hint to it which add a fresh taste to the dumplings. Another one that I can't miss will be the plump saucy phoenix claws / chicken feet marinated with black soy beans, a must try for those who are looking for a bit of dim sum adventure.
Friday November 27 Dinner
Love the clean feel of the restaurant
Love the constant service provided .. Tea top ups etc
Love the menus being bilingual
Love the easy parking around the area
Loathe the prices
Only tried a few dishes, yet to have yum Cha. Nice food but not for the prices.
Yuhuii...found another nice dim sum place...never been to this place before. This place is hiding from the main road.
My friend told me this place used to be in the Northbridge..
Their menu is a bit different then other dim sum place....well nice to try something different
Nothing to complain about in regards to food, great selection that includes different dishes not commonly served at other dim sum places but I can definitely understand people's dislike to the running/management here. Phyllis can come off as harsh/rude at times in order to be efficient which I believe in Western dining culture doesn't always work very well.
We had the chance to meet friends at the Imperial Court last Friday It is probably our most preferred Chinese cuisine in Perth and we were not disappointed. The
flavours of our chosen dishes and the attention to our needs by the staff was to the high standards we have come to expect.
I could easily give the IC a 5 rating but then there is nowhere to go if things get better (if possible). The servings are generous and the food is always fresh.
Phylis is a delightful personality.
Trevor Dickinson
Excellent food and wish I could rate higher but it wasn't the best service. Peak hour meant no service. When things quietened, we were checked on every few minutes even though we clearly didn't show any interest.
Food is good; everything is so fresh. The serving size is so generous. Service is good and efficient. You need to get here early if you want to get table straight away
I read a few reviews before I came here. Thought to myself "It's worth a try, I don't know who this "Phyllis" is but... how bad can she be?"
We went just a few hours ago on a Sunday night. We didn't have to wait at all. Right away we were taken to our seats for three, and were asked if we would like Chinese Tea.
A few minutes later we ordered our entree and mains. We ordered spring rolls, for entree and Special Fried Rice, Crispy Chicken, Pork Spare Ribs with Honey and Pepper, and Combination Meat Omlette for mains.
If you want to go to a Chinese Restaurant and not leave with that uneasy full feeling, that weird feeling Chinese restaurants seem to have, then this is the place for you. This place could be the only place I have had genuine Chinese food.
I don't know what all the fuss is about Phyllis the proprietor. She is a lovely lady that doesn't compromise her food, her service, her ethics and, most of all, her customers. This place has loyal customers. This place makes you feel like you want to come back and be a loyal customer.
The food was great, the service was exceptional....
Phyllis knew we were coming in for the first time because when we came in she said "You have never been here before" That's a restaurant owner that knows her customers.
You know what... this is the first restaurant I have been to... and I have been to a few, that has asked "Would you like your mains now?". They were not simply trying to get bums on seats and more turnover... we could have said "no"
If you want exceptional Chinese, exceptional service at a fair price for exceptional... This is the place to come. Needless to say, we'll be back.
Just wanted to note there are absolutely no gluten free options served here for dim sum. There is a reason why there are no notes on this in the summary. That said, once I go back to gluten I can't wait to come back here. Food looked amazing.
Fantastic location where you do not have to struggle to find parking and near the gorgeous jetty that will give you a much needed gentle workout after enjoying some of Imperial Court's star dishes (think fried squid, crispy skin chicken, mee ho fun with egg sauce, pepper prawns vermicelli, egg tart, prawn dumplings, shanghai dumplings...too many to list!). We always eat too much it is so good!
We go there on the weekend for their high-quality dim sum and on week nights, for an easy, tasty feast, complimented by their good selection of wines (Moss Wood Semillon...such a great match with chicken and/or prawns!). It might be a little more expensive than some Northbridge venues, but we are happy to pay a little more for the quality of food, cleanliness and great service. We appreciate the ever thoughtfulness and kindness of Phyllis, the manager, who on weekends has to deal with big crowds and still retains her sense of humour, and her staff who are ever attentive to the customers. On Sundays, it pays to come early...the queues don't lie!
Delicious yum cha enjoyed on a busy Sunday Mother's Day! Efficient staff and manageress! Yes, you will need to wait unless you get there early but it is definitely worth it! We will be back in no time!
Expensive dim sum experience. We were surprised to be charged $15+ for a plate of plain bean sprout noodles whereas you only paid for $10 in a reputable chinese restaurant in northbridge. Among us we ordered two steamed baskets, 2 baked pastries and a plate of spring onion rice rolls. The bill came to $50+. We reckon it's more pricey than the usual dim sum fare in Northbridge. They don't provide receipt hence it only left us guessing.
Went there on Monday morning when it just opened its doors, very happy because I didn't have to wait. The food kept coming, hot and delicious. I and my friend enjoyed every dish so much. The owner was nice, taking care customers and checked if food has arrived. Staff were attentive and polite too. We were impressed with everything and definitely go back with more friends soon.
We go to Imperial Court at least once a week as it's our local "authentic" Chinese restaurant. The food is always excellent and service is always great in our opinion. We have come to know the manager and her team well through our visits and she is definitely NOT rude as others have portrayed her. It's very unfair when faceless people attack restaurant owners, their staff and managers on forums like this instead of addressing their issues directly with those concerned. Well done Imperial Court!!
Great. Been many times always the best
If you don't want to spend 30min waiting, pls come before they open and line up like everyone else!! After a few visits, i find the trick is to come in bigger groups. Table for 2 always take he longest and the quickest is group of 4. But saying that, when I had my special brown rice flour roll, it's all worth it!! Crispy inside and soft& silky outside. The Steamed glutinous rice in lotus leaf is the best I had in perth. (Forget about north bridge!) Moist and aromatic. With walking distance from where I live, this is definitely my top recommended yum cha!
Very good. We went to dinner at Imperial Court recently and had excellent quality food & service. We've been here a few times and the high quality seems to be consistent. There is plenty of parking nearby & the décor is quite nice. The duck is very nice. Highly recommended.
Birthday dinner was great. Fantastic food and Phyllis gave such great advise about our menu. perfect portions. delicious food. have to try their garlic butter lobster and violin duck!
thanks Phyliis and team.
Good food, charming manager. We have just had a meal at the Imperial Court. The food and service was excellent and we had great advice from the lady in charge when placing our order. I am a person who likes to complain but all I have is complements for this venue.
Amazing food and service to match! Met who I assume is the owner and she is positively lovely. Will definitely be back. This is my new favorite place for dim sum!
Food portion is big and tasted good. Easy to find parking. Will be back.
In my opinion those that doesn't like the food is because they didn't order the right stuff. I only come here for their egg tart, brown rice flour rolls, prawns dumplings with black fungus, Shanghai dumplings, chestnut dumplings & fried carrot cake. I never order the normal dim sim stuff.
Best Dim Sum in Perth.. Food and setting can't be beat.. Love it and going there now
Always well loooked after here. provably the best place for dimsum

Authentic Chinese Yum Cha - awesomeness. A must go for anyone into authentic Chinese cuisine. No sweet and sour psychedelic sauce here, this is he original Yum Cha affair. Soft Shell crab is an absolute must - best I have had ever! Full review here..

Amazing Hidden Gem!. Food was authentic Chinese, I definitely felt like I had a dining experience. The staff were great, the owner comes and talks to you about the food, your food choices ect. She was awesome and so funny, I haven't laughed that much while being served for dinner. The restaurant does not look like a typical Chinese restaurant, more fine dining. The price fitted the experience, I would have paid more. It was that good I started this account. Now reading other reviews I can't believe we are talking about the same place. Will be raving about this place for a long time.
Dinner. I went there with my partner last night. I think it was a fantastic dinner, we had the plan of having special fried rice and three dishes to go with it. We were kindly informed that it would be too much for just the two of us as the portion sizes were large so we order just two dishes with the rice. I think they were definately right it would have been too much and we appreciated the fact that they suggested that instead of just letting us order so it saved us money. Not many places do that! Their service was impeccable and we never had to refill our wine glass ourselves, the waiters were very professional. Over all it was a pleasurable dining experience and I will be returning. Thanking you all :)

OK Food, Could be better Service, On the pricy side. Restaurant - We were feeling hungry for chinese so we had lunch at this restaurant on a weekday. It was recommended by a friend. It wasn't crowded. 80% of the restaurant was empty but the waitress showed us a frown when we didn't have a booking.
Food - Food was ordinary. Dumplings were tasty but I've had better in many places elsewhere. Noodles were a little soggy and any ingredients in it wasn't generous.
Service - Waiter was attentive and served us tea, changed our plates when they got full. But he had a hard time understanding us when we were ordering or needed something.
Loved every bit about the place. Fresh dim sum. I just can't believe I have actually been waiting in queues in nrthbridge for sub standard food all this time. The manager was pleasant so I'm quite shocked to read previous reviews. Reminds me of HK! So good!
Dim Sum in Como - What will they think of next?. This place is clean, the decor is modern and the food is well above the average Dim Sum shack. The dumplings seem very fresh, the squid is excellent. Unfortunately no trolley, you have to order off the menu but the dishes all came out very quickly. Unlike the reviews I’ve read here I found the staff to be polite and very accommodating. I like a bit of theatre at Dim Sum, I like floor staff rushing around and dishes flying everywhere. It’s nice to give Northbridge a break and enjoy this intimate well located suburban offering.
Id say the cost is about 15% more than Northbridge but the quality compensates for that.
I went last Friday and I’m going back today. Keep up the good work.
Nice place out of Northbridge. They open at 11am and apparently there will be a queue outside starting at 10.45am. There were 12 of us, so we complied and we managed to get a table without fuss.
Service was brisk and to the point but teapots were always topped up and carts of food was offered to us at all times.
Siew Mai was robust and with bursty prawns and pork. Squid tentacles were crispy and soft (not chewy) on the inside. Steamed Pork ribs were fresh, flavourful and not too salty. Steamed buns, porridge, egg tarts , prawn dumplings and chicken feet were lovely.
I found the rice rolls, choy sum with oyster sauce, beancurd roll, glutinous rice to be a bit average.
I would warn that a lot of my friends experienced less ideal service but I did not at this time. In summary, I'd like to return. Also I did not drink copious amounts of water after dining here - I usually do when eating dim sum with high amounts of MSG.
Yam Cha Joy not in NorthBridge. The Joy of Joy Garden but not in NorthBridge. Thank You!
BTW they are only closed on Tuesdays, not as per the website shows.
Century egg porridge is fabulous!
Yum! Good dim sum!!!. Quality ingredients and quality production - don't miss the steamed king prawn and black fungus dumplings, Sui Mai are excellent too. A little pricey, but worth it. Especially during the week when things are quieter...
Delicious and reasonable. We came to Imperial Court on a suday night with my partner and parents, and initially had no idea what to expect. in the end we had a great night though and went home satisfied.
the decor looked strange and very clinical (everything was white) and the lighting is turned up way too bright, but there were large groups of people seated around round tables and obviously really enjoying their food.
we came in and were seated straight away. the wait-staff were very efficient and attentive, and we wewre even given advice on what to order and how much, which was very helpful because the menu is huge.
the food was sensational. the dumplins were plump and fresh, the vegetables crisp, and the meat dishes full of flavour. we had the fried duck in plum sauce, ribs in peking sauce, and the sechzuan beed. the especially duck was divine! the bill at the end of the night was totally reasonable too - $158 for 4 people, which works out to less than $50 per head.
many reviews mention they were treated poorly by the short lady manager, but our experience with her was fine. admittedly she is very to-the-point but I actually enjoyed that better than the fawning, overly unctuous maitre-d's you get inother places. so as long as you come prepapred, I think you'll be ok with her :)
Imperial. Phyllis is the so very very perfect lady, kind & accommodating to all.love her new hairstyle
Delicious!. We have recently discovered dim sum at Imperial Court and could not be happier. The service has been excellent on both visits - a short 10 minute wait when arriving at 12.30pm, suggestions on things we might like from one very helpful staff member, piping hot fresh food, our tea pot regularly refilled, clean surroundings (tables cleared quickly & fresh tables cloths laid) & well priced. Can highly recommend the BBQ pork puffs, prawn & chive steamed dumplings & the egg tarts - in our opinion the best in Perth. Plus a view of the river - what more could you ask for? We will be regular visitors.
This place can be a gem to many or a disappointment to some. You must get to know Phyllis, the boss, straight talking and. truthful to the point of bluntness. My advice is to take her recommendations and you will be rewarded with fine Hong Kong style cuisine. Priced higher than the usual Chinese restaurants, but food is nicer too. Give it a try, but avoid weekends.
Food not really that healthy. They must got their spare rib cheap. Lots of fat. Would definitely avoid this one.
By the way look at the other dishes with pork- you get heart disease and clogged arteries in no time.
Better qualities elsewhere.
Overall taste no too bad, service average. Price - Too pricey.
Can do better.
You don't get chilli oil !!!
We had our dinner tht day there, the food is amazing. We enjoy alot!
The food here is great. Reasonably priced too for the awesome quality. The owner is great at making recommendations so definitely listen to her suggestions. The venue has been nicely renovated and great location too!
OMG. This place is amazing, I can't believe this opened in Como I am so so so happy!! Really great Dim Sum, good prices, friendly staff, lovely decor and very very clean! LOVE IT!!
Best Dim Sum in Perth. Been there twice this week. Restaurant just newly opened 2 months ago. What you want is QUALITY ... NOT QUANTITY. Imperial Court gives you the Quality! Their basic dim sum food .. Siew Mai (pork & prawn mix very juicy, perfect!) and Egg Tart (the pastry is so welldone, not too sweet... perfect and best egg tart in Perth, it is limited per day!)
Must try! Chefs are from Guang Zhou (Best Dim Sum in the world) and Hong Kong.
Likes: excellent service, unusual dim sum choices; Dislikes: no black bean tripe (my favourite!); Value for money: good; Overall: great dim sum in a convenient location
This has always been a great venue for dim sum nearby. Their staples are excellent and very well worth trying - they have the usual assortment of dishes that you must try. The restaurant is spacious and can accomodate many although you will need to book before you come. I’m hearing rumours that this venue will be closing down in a couple of months and if that’s true you definitely should get down here and try it before it closes!!
Quality dim sum made by the professional chef. Got some unique items on the menu. Love the banana prawn roll and egg tarts (this is the must try one). The manager is actually quite funny if you get her sense of humour. Also please be polite to the servants. We should be grateful that we can still enjoy the food here. I really enjoy the quick conversation with the lady in the restaurant.
been there for dim sum several times
always busy, booking in advance
the red flour roll is amazing, my favorite dim sum in the town
the rest is average, some items are too light to me
Food here was wonderful and it's a very comfortable alternative to crowded Northbridge options. Radish cakes were a highlight but there were many superb dishes. Shanghai dumplings terrific. Highly recommended.
