Best sushi I've ever had!
Pretty good overall, The Chicken Katsu are hot, crispy and fresh that you know it’s not come out from a micro oven. Gotta say the sweet and sour sauce is custom made and is amazing. Price is OK. Around $15-$18 each person.

Came as a group of 5, ordered 6 dishes and total was $123. Dishes we ordered were: Tempura prawns, agedashi tofu, beef tataki, large sushi set, sashimi, dragon roll.
Tempura and agedashi tofu had nice batter and seasoned sauce. My companions felt the beef tataki was sliced a little too thick but I disagree and enjoyed very much. The dragon roll was yummy - their sushi rice was good. Sashimi set was very fresh but I would have liked more variety as it was only salmon, tuna and kingfish offered. Sushi set was good - their rice portion in the nigiri on the small side but I prefer this as it is bite sized for me. Wasabi portions are very generous and much of ours was unused.
I'd probably order the sushi and sashimi set next time instead of separate sushi set and sashimi set, as the variety was limited. I would also like to try some of their other hot dishes.
Service was very friendly with the waitress always attending to us with a big smile on her face.
Great made-to-order local sushi spot! Perfect for a quick lunch. They cater to all your order requests and the service is always prompt and polite. Sushi is always fresh, tasty and generously portioned. There's a reason they are always busy even during the week.
As a local, this my go-to place for quick bites. The staff is very polite and attentive. My favourites are The bento box and the tuna nigiri both of which are very fresh and delicious.
The Takoyaki was served on mini wooden skewers and were decent in taste and crisp texture. Certainly not hard to make but most Japanese eateries lately don't leave it on the fry long enough.
The Dragon Roll was presented with an amazing edible flower decor, was surprising!
The dragon roll itself tasted superb - fresh, flavoursome and big portions! Highly recommend this dish!
We also had a bento box which was just as fresh and provided us with variety.
Sashimi isn't too bad here - it is served cold and freshly cut but I do wish they'd give more portions as an option.
Overall food is amazing but their waitstaff are a bit slow in serving you. Still would recommend :)
My go-to sushi stop! For a quick bite or a hot dish, this place never disappoints with their quick and friendly service. Be sure to order your sushi with the black rice -it makes a huge difference to the flavours!
Really like this place. For starters the miso soup is awesome - full flavoured, robust and buttery smooth.
I tried one of the Maki Sushi rolls - the Salmon Paradise - and it literally was paradise.
Everything in that roll was beautiful and combined with soy/wasabi and extra mayo, it was heaven.
Really friendly staff as well.
The chicken katsu and rice is delicious but on the smaller side unlike the beef udon which is generously sized. Casual dining, nice service and cute little replica sushi along the front counter.
GREAT Japanese food! For casual dining and friendly staff, I head over at least once a week.
I highly recommend the variety of salads and sushi rolls.
They also offer black (wild) rice!!!
Japanese food always makes me happy, especially when it's free! 😁 My friend was lucky enough to owe me and my girlfriend a meal (I know, so lucky) and so we weren't shy with the ordering haha.
Located within Concord, Kokoro provides a substantial dining space with a narrow entry. Their decor is quite minimal with nothing quite outstanding.
We ordered a few dishes from their udons, to unagi box, sushi rolls, sashimi (my love) and wagyu beef tataki. I wouldn't say their dishes were cheap, but they were quite delicious 😋 cheers for the meal buddy!
Chicken katsu is a good plate to eat here. Rice us nice and delicious, also chicken is well crumbed and properly cooked. The cooked tuna and cucumber rolls are made on order so, you can have very fresh rolls. The drinks menu is very limited but they still have all the soft drinks. Nice spot for the area for locals who likes japanese food. Recomended!
Good fresh food. Been to Kokoro a few times and it is yet to disappoint. The outdoor dining area is enjoyable and the interior is average. Staff are very attentive and helpful but I have yet to be there while they are busy. Food is all very fresh, especially the tuna nigiri. certain meals are a little expensive, but the quality and presentation are redeeming. Chef is talented and always produces his signatures with a flair. Green tea and miso are above the average. Katsu is juicy and crispy with and drizzled with a delicious sweet tangy sauce. Katsu bento is good value and the included salad is dressed with a nice thick Japanese sesame dressing and the rice is fluffy and fresh. Good tuna nigiri is hard to come by in Sydney, but Kokoro produce a very fresh lean tuna.
Becoming a regular!. Went for first time last night, it was so fantastic, all ingredients were very fresh and high quality. I'm not very hood with fish but every dish we had was delicious we didnt leave anything on the plates haha
Definitely worth the price will be going more often. Staff are very friendly and professional as well they create a lovely atmosphere.
Great japanese. Its more expensive than the average jap joint in the area but most jap places near here arent good. Im willing to pay a bit more for better food. Sashimi always fresh, great miso (made not packet) and many dishes are quite large so always get a good feed here. Hot edamame, delicious agedashi. Always fresh.
I always go there. I specially love lion king, grilled salmon. Good food and kind people :)
Excellent food! Love the avocado salad! Everything always outstanding! Good service too.
As regulars to Majors Bay Road, we've dined at Kokoro several times and had takeaway several more. We love it!
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and it is so lovely to sit outside on the street when it's warm and watch everyone walk by.
I particularly like that Kokoro has a large vegetarian range. We often order the koroke, spring rolls, prawn parcels and dumplings for starters. My favourite main is the vegetarian yaki udon. It's a barbecued stir fry with lots of delicious veggies and a sweet, thick sauce. Instead of using hokkien noodles like many Japanese restaurants do, they use delicious, thick, chewy udon noodles. They have a great texture and soak up the sauce. I have also enjoyed the vegetarian set which comes with miso, rice, salad, agedashi tofu and two pieces of sushi. They have standard udon noodles in soup, teriyaki sets, katsu and other favourites. Their sushi and sashimi are made fresh and use high quality produce. They also do amazing sushi 'snakes' which are colourful long chains of individual sushi rolls.
The service at Kokoro is good, not exceptional but good. The prices are reasonable for the high quality food.
We ordered okonomiyaki which was delicious and the pork and chicken katsu bento. The chicken was nice but some parts were a bit under cooked and my pork katsu was over cooked and oily. However the sushi was excellent.
Kokoro. We Love it !!!!!!!!
Kokoro at Concord. Six of went for the first time recently. I am not all that keen on Sashimi but the mixed dish was superb. We then had several varieties of tempura, including great sea scallops. Again superb. We rounded off the meal with two dishes, one with pork, the other, chicken. I wanted to return the next night, and will certainly be going this weekend. The place was full which was great and an indication of the excellent food. Did I also say it was great value, @ $55 for 2 diners, and fully BYO. Highly recommended.
Very nice. Good value for money. I would go back again if in the area. If you want miso soup with your meal then it's better value to go with a bento box.
Pretty tasty Japanese food. The teriyaki chicken bento box was very good. Friendly staff and decently priced food. Family and kids friendly seating as well.
Kokoro offers all of the Japanese cuisine staples - sushi, sashimi, tempura and noodles at reasonable prices. Fast, friendly and efficient service. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Cozy place for dinner. They had the outside table with heater. Food was great too!
