Review Sugarcane - Coogee

Best restaurant in Coogee (not hard), so maybe better described as up there with Ms.Gs and China Doll from food and service standpoint. Everything was delicious, tasty and filled with flavour. All of the items on the bites menu were so tasty, the roti and curry sauce salt and pepper calamari and eggplant curry were perfect. Wine list excellent and cocktails pretty good too. Can't believe it's taken me this long to discover this gem😋

Since Longrain Sydney closed down, we haven’t found any restaurants that we loved as much. Tonight Sugarcane has brought back that great memory of “flavoursome southeast asian cuisine with modern twist”. The service is also top notch.

Absolutely stunning food. Of particular note was the crispy chicken and pork hock. The chilli margarita was also a nice way to start the experience!! Thanks to the professional and friendly staff.

Highly recommend the Aromatic Baba Curry. Easily one of the best Pad Thai we've had in recent memory and the Lamb Neck Bun was very tasty also. Combine that with a very nice ambience and friendly staff made this one of our most enjoyable dinner experiences to date.

This seems like a fusion type of place, a mix of asian and western flavors. The service was very good and there was a nice selection of choices. We came pretty late so some stuff was sold out which was a pitty, however the choices the waiter recommends was decent. Overall, a lovely place for a weekend dine-in

Opted for a 65 bucks banquet menu. The food was palatable but worst experience was with the lamb sort of dish. You get an old stinky bone with no meat. Just a bit of a lamb fat. It smells like the re-purposed roadkill. I have to complement the stuff and the wine list. And you need plenty of the latter to wash down aftertaste.

This is South Asian infused restaurant so the menu is unique. Limited range though and not alot of variety. Portions are small-medium size. Don't expect to feel super full when sharing with friends. Pricey items but very tasty food. Every ingredient was fresh. I enjoyed the experience. I probably wouldn't return here if I had a choice. Its more of a social place with nice view, good food and quite posh. The male Asian host was a bit awkward in the end. Pretty much indirectly kicking us off the table coz it's a busy night. The outdoor section was nice to sit at. Inside was quite loud and noisy. I recommend trying it out once here, break bank and enjoy the view.

I had heard that this place was good, but that description didn't even come close to adequately describing the amazing and delicious delights prepared in this establishment! It was truly the best dining experience of my entire visit to Australia. The only other aspect of this restaurant that even compared to the menu was the friendly attentive service of the staff. Helpful in the selection process and prompt in its delivery. They saw to our every request, at times even anticipating our needs with a suggestion or two. I cannot dish out enough praise for this enterprise. Outstanding!!

I went here with a group of friends and thought it was an all-round amazing place to be. The food was exquisite (compliments to the head chef!) and the staff for their bubbly and friendly service. Drinks were delightful - I'd highly recommend the Pisco Sours - they are addictive. I'd definitely go back, it's a great place for celebrating an occasion or for a date. If you haven't already been, do it.

The best meal I have ever eaten in Australia and the best service. delicious pomegranate cocktail and wine.

We heard the food was good but my god it is amazing, our group of 4 have not stopped talking about it, we let the waiter order for us and every dish just exploded in our mouth. We had a great night with magnificent food and can’t wait to get back there.

Here for Mother’s Day lunch and the 8 courses are just amazing.Great personal service .They even brought out an extra course as my son did not like cumin.Highly recommend.

If you love Thai food then you have come to the right place. The food was Incredible and I even tried something I wouldn't normally go for with the help from our friendly waiter. Service was amazing and we had an awesome evening here. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu �

Sugarcane has been on our culinary ‘must visit’ list for a while now. We had a free weekend so decided to visit for lunch on a rainy day, since it was quiet and we could easily get a booking. It is in a beachfront location at the Southern end of Coogee beach. The venue has some outdoor seating, and a covered alfresco section, though we’d recommend sitting inside as the styling is simply stunning. The glamorous venue has dim lights, bamboo features and hanging greenery, the space feels like an upmarket Asian hut.

I’ve been going to Sugarcane in Coogee for many years and the quality of dishes always keeps me coming back. <br/>With out a doubt you need to try the salt and pepper squid. It’s very crunchy and light on the batter which is perfectly balanced by the accompanying dipping sauce, chilli and shallots. It’s a personal favourite of yours truely.

Re-visited for the 4th time and can honestly say the food quality is consistently great! Served by Sam who was excellent for his service and charisma!! Could not fault the experience yet again...will be back...highly recommended! Thank you Sam...

This place came highly recommended and we werent disappointed. Excellent locationand amazing food. Place was packed and no wonder. The food was amazing. Love going to places like this. The chef has clearly put some thought into the menu. Its so fresh and tastes amazing. It had a modern touch but the chef hasn't sacrificed the flavour of authentic thai flavour.

I am in love with the food, the venue, the place and everything else. I had some of the BEST fusion food I have ever tasted as well as cocktails. The crab tortillas are to die for, as well as the desserts. If you like adventurous dinners with modern and fusion tendencies, do yourself a favour and book a table.

Came here on a the back of a couple recommendations, I am glad we did. I would say it is definitely a date night or special occasion spot as it is probably a bit pricey for a casual dining. <br/><br/>The food was great, we tried the $60 “trust me” menu and asked if could include a couple of the things we didn’t want to miss out on. It was perfect for two people, we had a 3 or 4 small plates and 3 larger ones with a rice to share. I eat a lot and I was happy with the amount, not stuffed but definitely didn’t feel I was being ripped off which you get with some set menus. <br/><br/>The rice cakes were delicious, and the beef rendang and crispy chicken are a must.<br/><br/>I would definitely come back.

Surprised that we did not come here until today. Saw the name several times. But somehow thought it might be a dissertation shop. Passed here yesterday and gave it a try. Great food. Slightly too much sugar. But the dishes are full of flavor. The softcrab bun is amazing. I can eat 10 in one go!

First time eating here and what an absolute delight. Great food, amazing combinations and a great atmosphere. The crispy chicken was a standout. <br/><br/>Service was spot on (present but not overbearing) and our waiter had great knowledge of both the food and wine menu. <br/><br/>An absolute gem in Coogee.

We have eaten at Sugarcane 5 x this year today was not one of your best the food is over priced and over rated & the game you play with the bottled water is a joke 2 tables near to us also complained about it the noise is unbearable one table of men walked out saying way to expensive for what you get i agree we will not be back your loss

Not just your average Asian restaurant. The food is delicious and service is excellent! It is one of the only restaurants in Coogee which offer good food, wine and ambience. Perfect for a group dinner.<br/><br/>I will defiantly come back.

Had a best long lunch with the girls! Food was amazing, the beef randang , the fried chicken with plum sauce, best part was the dessert. We were all so full from the main and we were all kinda like maybe just share a dessert, like a bite is enough-- but when that beautiful pannacotta hit the table, we all went "OMG!" How stunning is that! And all dessert- the panna cotta, the banana cake and the floral custard thingy- all tasted soo good!<br/>Plus service was exceptional, will definitely come back.

Went here with a large booking for dinner and I thought everything was sensational! The food was sensational and the staff were amazing and happy to assist anyone with any allergies. All the food we had was divine and I can't wait to get back there!
