Review Annies - Coogee

Great spot. Solid menu. Great value. A lot of fun. Order Annie’s signature calzone! Delicious.

We went to Annie’s with our Coogee based don and his family for dinner on our last evening in Coogee before returning to New York. The food, particularly the Roma pizza that my wife and I had, wad great. Dana H.

I assumed this would be a very basic little place from some of the photos but it was lovely! The food was delicious and reasonably priced. It was a little out of the way but was beautifully presented and had a good atmosphere. They had pencils for my daughter to draw so is kid friendly but would also be lovely for a date or catch up with friends.

Really love the renovation they've done to the place! But still the same good Italian pastas and pizzas. Penne/Linguini Bosciaola is excellent! We usually come here on Tues-Thurs because all pizzas are $12 and pastas are $14, except for the seafood options. Good food, cosy environment.

Poor experience with a delivery order. Contacted Annie’s directly to give them the opportunity to correct the issue. Made numerous attempts to follow up for a solution over many weeks but no accountability taken, issue and emails ignored. Not the way to do business. Stick with Spiaggia Italian in Coogee, it’s exquisite!

Amazing hidden gem located in Coogee (super chill). Food and service were amazing - best Italian restaurant I had in Sydney! Strongly recommend for Italian cuisine lovers.

Nice semi- fine dine environment. A place worth to travel for dinner with family and friends!

Staff are awesome, atmosphere is amazing and most importantly food is delicious! Would recommend the fettuccini rocket prawns and if you are lucky they may have the beautiful Barramundi special. Would recommend to anyone! Local gem.

As the missus desperately needs her daily dose of carbs, I suggested we do Italian. This restaurant was recommended to me by one of my clients after I mentioned I lived in Coogee and we were discussing our favourite eateries.

I had never even heard of this restaurant, let alone seen it tucked away just far enough away from the beaten path to not be obvious.

After a less than a kilometre walk, the good lady (who "doesn't do hills") was ravenous and at "Jimmy Barnes performing live in the 70s" levels of perspiration.

The restaurant itself is clean looking and charming, but quite small. There was a large group booking, and we were lucky to get a table, as they were booked out after 2 more walk-ups.

We ordered the bruschetta pizzetta to share which was fresh and tasty, with light toppings and a crisp thin crust.

For mains, I ordered fettuccine pollo. The pasta itself was good, but not as homemade as I was hoping, but the sauce had chicken, capsicum, cashews and MANGO! This was a wonderful choice by me, and I felt quite self-congratulatory. I still do.

The lady ordered a tandoori chicken pizza, which I felt was a bold option. It tasted "pretty good" according to her, which is as much as she cared to divulge in between beast-like bites.

The staff was a team of one guy, who was a helpful and amicable server.

This place is a delightful restaurant, although it is not as authentic as others (I'm thinking of Via Napoli in Surry Hills). It is great value, friendly and if you're nearby and not averse to walking up slight hills, a smart local option.
I discovered this restaurant through a friend. Very lovely staff and gorgeous food. I had the boscaiola which was perfect! Will go back for sure. Great location and lovely interior.

Just discovered this busy little restaurant. Quite busy and very noisy but well worth the walk up the hill.
Delicious pasta and pizza. We shared the fettuccine with mango, a boscaiola, penne chicken and pesto and some pizzas. Totally delicious.
Husband/wife team were friendly and accommodating. Only downside = BYO. Highly recommended.

Amazing cuisine, amazing service. We went to Annie's based on a recommendation from a friend despite some of the negative reviews on this site.
We were welcomed warmly by the husband/wife owners and were immediately given water and shown to our table.
My wife enjoyed a calzone while I had one of the fish specials... Both devine. I could have licked the plate.
Our kids both chose options from the children's menu and both finished their meals happily.
My wife and I both enjoyed a bottle of wine and were charged $3 corkage each - not sure what the previous review is about stating that corkage is $8 as the friends who recommended Annies in the first place tell me $3 corkage has been charged since they have been going - for more than two years.
We walked away with a bill under $70 and felt satisfied that this was a justifiable charge.
As for the service, again, the review below stating that the manager could not speak English I find interesting as I spoke at length to the manager and his wife and both had not a hint of an accent and in fact, confirmed they were both born in Australia after I enquired about their heritage.
I can not recommend this quaint little restaurant enough and have vowed to make it my new "regular".

Great place. Little restaurant wih a very nice decor and friendly service. They do great specials from Mondays to Thursdays. $12.00 pizza or pasta and $25.00 set 3 courses menu. I thinks is a good deal. They are byo and charge a fee for corkage.

Great pizza with friendly efficient service. Resturant recommend by a friend.
I loved my vegetarian pizza, I believe if you were vegan it would also be a tasty pizza minus the goats cheese. Not a easy feat.
I love goats cheese..
Well priced Great service.
Will definitely be returning

Spaghetti bolognese looked and tasted like it could have come from a home brand jar sauce. Awful service. The manager was really rude when we questioned the corkage. We were quoted $8 corkage over the phone and charged $20 when the bill arrived. The food was very average. The spaghetti was awful and tasted like cheap home brand jar sauce. Couldn't eat it and was told 'We can't reuse it so you have to pay for it'. Up side - they didn't slop it back into the pot (we hope) and re serve it.

Had my birthday here at the weekend. We had a large group and had to go with a set menu which was fine. The food was OK, I've had better from local takeaway pizza places.
What I'm more annoyed about was the service. I felt that the staff were rude and not welcoming. We had brought an ice cream cake to the restaurant during the day and asked for it to be placed in the freezer. They waited until we had finished our meal to tell us that they hadn't put the cake in the freezer and it was melted. They didn't even offer to take anything off the bill for their mistake to compensate the loss of the cake. Very disappointed at the service we received, expected more from a local small business. Will not be returning.

WARNING!!! Don't try to use your Entertainment Book Coupon here!!!!!. Found this place in the entertainment book. Entertainment book coupon had no restrictions for use, nor did any place on the menu restrict its use. We ordered from the "set menu" and were denied the use of the 25% off coupon because according to the owner, this is the "discounted menu "- which it does not say on the menu. We were never advised of this, nor does the coupon say no "set menu" use. I suggest you ask your waiter/waitress whether they accept the coupons before you order. Otherwise, be prepared to pay full price. Certainly, this is no way to conduct business. P.S. food was average.

I ordered pasta and pizza from here, ment to take 45 mins too deliever but took over 2 hours. Called up numerous times was told to wait and wait and wait.... Shocking!!

Food was disappointing and overpriced.

Not a good experience.

I have never experienced food and service this bad in my life.

NOT happy!. Went with a group of 8 of us on Saturday night. Two very young waiters/waitresses on the floor. We got the Italian boy who didn't really speak english. Some stuff ups with our food/teas.
Went to pay with entertainment voucher and we had 3 to give (as allowed by the terms and conditions of Entertainment Book) and the young things said we can only use one (1)!
The food was pricey, ended up costing us $75 a couple for a very ordinary dinner.
Don't think we or our friends will be back. They've completely turned us off!

Not Great. It may have been alright once but that was not the case for us. I saw someone commented that they are BYO. That may be true but they charged us $18 for corkage and the food was average. Pasta dishes very basic and bland.

Good vibe, good food.. Great vibe, friendly staff and the food is really fresh and well priced. Annies is also BYO. My girlfriend and I both ate here one night for under $50.00.
Zoe
Very disappointed! Service was very unfriendly and slow, waited 1 hour for meal with no explanation or acknowledgement that we were here. When food finally arrived the 'king prawns' were minuscule and the dish was missing detailed ingredience, when questioned about this I was unapologeticly told that I got extra prawns instead(I got 3 in total) overall I was very disappointed with my experience in Annies and wouldn't recommend to people.

Good food,. We popped in to Annies for a Wednesday night with the girls - food was tasty and well priced, service was great! BYO too, which is always welcomed. Will go back.

Tuesday night dinner was Pizza & Pasta. All priced well with good range of dishes. Service was good! Venue a little noisy when full but adds to the experience dining out in Coogee. I could have done without the up hill walk from the beach though. Next time I'll try the Fish!
