One of my favourites spots for pizza in Sydney. Their pizza never disappoints, especially at 11pm where most shops are closed, cougee pavilion fills my stomach up with good Italian pizza.
Lamb Meatballs, oysters and potato scallops were nice. Service ok & quick, have to ask for plates when sharing, no specific cutlery/forks for oysters. Would recommend.

I visited the Coogee Pavilion everyday on my weekend getaway. I enjoyed everything about this place. The views are fantastic and perfect coffee and breaky location. The coffee was really good. I also had cocktails, wine and dessert at night and the atmosphere is electric and lots of fun. You can tell the locals love this place and I can see why. Very family friendly and lots of activities for the kids. In house theatre, table tennis, takeaway gelato, juice bar it literally has it all. I want one of these places in Melbourne please.

A beachside boutique vibin’ and thrivin’ right by the waters of Coogee. Offering refreshing cocktails at a price that includes the premium of sweeping ocean views, the Pav is worth a stop if you are in the area, especially to top off the ultimate Sydney tourist experience if you had just finished the famed Bondi-Coogee walk. You’d spot its striped blue/white dome from the hilly slopes of Dunningham Reserve that almost reminds one of a nostalgic carousel ride. Once you are there, be sure to get their Cravado! A mix of wyborowa, lychee, coconut water, and mint, it has the look and taste of a healthy green smoothie that you won’t be able to stop sipping on.
You can expect a decent crowd during the weekend, especially around sunset on the rooftop terrace. While the terrace does offer nice views, it can be a challenge to find an open spot (or take an instagram-worthy picture). Service at the bar can be slow but there are enough counters, especially upstairs, to make sure that it never takes too long. One thing to note is that the rooftop terrace and ground floor have separate entrances, and you won’t be able to carry drinks from the ground floor to the rooftop.
Wonderful location, great service and fresh food. Need I say more? We came in a big group of 9 people, and were promptly served and seated. The food recommendations were on point. We had the cuttlefish, which was well seasoned, but a little rubbery. The pizzas had that beautiful woodfired crust and were full of fresh tasting ingredients. Our fav was the fiery pizza, which had a great kick to it.

Had the capricciosa pizza - San Marzano, Fior di Latte, Italian ham, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, olives which was $25. Tasted great! Unfortunately some of the crust was burnt. Great service and atmosphere. Recommended for outing with mates.
Great place for coffee and brekkie after the Bondi-coogee walk. Great vibe with a beautiful view. They change their menu for lunch and dinner. Great food, decent price, fragrant coffee (even for a non coffee drinker), fantastic view!

Definitely a great place to enjoy good food and the beach! I came here for dinner and it was super busy on a Wednesday night. I loved the atmosphere. Service was very very slow, it took them 30 minutes to bring us our bottle of wine which I wasn’t impressed with, knowing that they get that busy during dinner time I believe they need to cater a little better. In saying that, staff were really nice and the food was amazing! The octopus was cooked to perfection, soft, perfect and the beef cheeks were super tender. The broccolini were smoky and charred really well, yum! The pizza base was one of my favourite parts even tho I don’t normally like crust haha it had a really nice texture and thin based but it didn’t get soggy and very generous with the prosciutto. Would definitely come back, hopefully the waiting time will be considerably less next time.
Fantastic venue for a group dinner or lunch but it is a bit on the noisy side. Food is great, highly recommend the Pizza's. Well priced and very attentive service. Although a very large restaurant its best to book to ensure a well positioned table. Tip: left hand side of the restaurant tends to be quiter.
Very fun place to take your kids to. Delicious looking pizzas, good salads, fish and chips, and kids menu (the gelato also looked appealing). They have ping pong tables and a kids playing area inside. Super family friendly!
As with every other Merivale eatery, the food is good but overpriced, and the staff are young, attractive and upbeat. Sometimes the friendliness seems a little forced, but I guess you always know what you’re in for with one of Justin Hemmes’ establishments. And there ain’t a whole lot else in Coogee that’s good

Loved it here! We had a group of 3 of us from Sydney guest from New York and Melbourne. The service was amazing and the food was great, (not my dish though) I was slightly disappointed by my salad dish for the price paid, especially being served with HALF an egg 😞 (I did give that feedback to the waitress too) The others had great dishes! Would definitely go back but perhaps not order the same meal 😕 would definitely order the beef dish! 😍

Coogee Pavilion is not a place you come just to have a drink & a bite, it's a place you come to be seen & see who else you might recognise. It's Sat arvo on a hot day, pretty difficult to find a table, the staff were not particularly helpful. We ended up finding table on the top floor. We were starving so ordered a few share plates. Waited a while at the bar before having my order taken. Good to note that the menu are different on the different floors & you can only order off that floor's menu, the guy next to me didn't know. We ordered the pide, kingfish cerviche, and baby squid. We got bit confused when they came out, the kingfish cerviche was a bowl of couscous (no mention of couscous on menu)! Turned out the kingfish were cropped up in small pieces and mixed in somewhere with the couscous. Tasted ok, but not what the menu suggested. The baby squid was smashing, tender & moorish. Pide was ok, but probably the weakest plate. Overall it is a nice place to have stop & bite even if you're not seeking to be "seen".
Came here on a Thursday afternoon at around 4:30pm with a couple of girlfriends.
A bustling bar. Busy but plenty of seating. No bouncers at the door so anyone could walk in and order alcohol. Service okay.
Nice drinks menu with plenty of attractive choices. Glad to see they have drinks to share, like the Strawberry Watermelon Sangria.
The food is a little bit on the expensive side but our snack food items were quite delicious.
Great place to kick back after a day tanning in the sun.
This venue is top notch for a night out, brilliant atmosphere, great food, love the wood fire pizzas in particular. Everyone having a great time, gorgeous women and a pumping vibe upstairs. Can't wait to go back again.
Located right next to the beach, Coogee Pavilion is always busy. There's plenty of activities to do for kids or kids at heart including giant scrabble and table tennis. Service was friendly and they made an effort but it was quite obvious that it was extremely busy. Prices are not cheap however.
Great atmosphere, kids friendly and also great food as well. We ordered the sashimi platter and everything was so fresh. The crab is probably one of the best crabs I've eaten. I don't usually lean towards crab but the way they make their sauce to put on the crab is absolutely amazing
The family section on the ground floor is interesting. I've gone to the rooftop off and on - great place for views and drinks. This time I went with a couple of families who go regularly as the ground floor allows kids and has a big section of games and playthings at the back - very popular on a Saturday evening. The front part of the bar was packed. The drink selection was good and probably only slightly expensive for these days. We had some pizzas that were ok - they had good toppings but an unusual crust that some might like but I thought was too soggy and needed to be rolled New York-style to eat (which might be good for the kids though).
Always a pumping atmosphere each time I have been here! The rooftop is happenin, especially on a Sunday summer night.
I had the poached chicken and farro salad this time around and I really enjoyed it. Good serving size and the chicken was cooked nicely. I was pleased. My friends pizza looked to die for. I must try next time!
The place is awesome. The service not awesome. The food? I just tried a couples of pizzas, not bad, but the dough was so thin!!! Almost transparent. I think a dough a little bit thicker wouldn't bad. Anyway, worth try it.
Perfect place for a dinner before drinks without travelling to different venues. It always has a great atmosphere, especially after the beach on a summer night as the suns going done, followed by some fresh rooftop drinks. I've tried a few meals on the menu from the snapper to the poached chicken salad, never disappoints. The pizzas also looked amazing. A must try is the cravado cocktail, one of my favourites!
This place is not the cheapest place to eat in Coogee sure; but the views and excellent food make it worth the $$$.
Highly recommend the oysters, sashimi, the new winter salads are so good, the pizzas are to die for and there are some beautiful cocktails and wine on the menu which aren't too pricey considering the location.
The staff are mostly pretty good too. You get what you pay for, and you pay for consistency excellent food. I have been here approx 10 times for food and I have yet to be disappointed!

You want a nice place to show off with friends out of town or catch-up with lots of friends. you want a vibrant atmosphere, even in the morning. You want to enjoy the awesome view of one of the most beautiful beaches in Sydney. You enjoy modern Australian cuisine or an authentic italian Pizza on a casual dining environment.
You want to leave your 5-12yo kids playing with friends while you have drinks with your friends. (There's a big play area in the back)
You should NOT go if:
you want spot on service (service is hit n miss). You're looking for a good value for money (this place is a bit on the expensive side and understandably so because of the location).
You want a good selection of craft beers - you only get common beers like Peroni, James Squire et al.
We came here for a Sunday lunch and the place was busy. However we were taken to a table almost immediately. We found the service to be really good - especially for such a busy time. Our waiter knew the menu & specials really well and the food was quick and delicious. We had a plate of oysters, 3 pizzas and a salad for our party of 6. They've done a great job with refurbishments and the menu here & we'll definitely be back
Coogee Pavilion is all things to all people. This quintessentially-Sydney beach palace seamlessly blends together a mean gastro pub menu and kid-friendliness with an all-day buzzy atmosphere, cocktail-serving kudos and the ultimate in beach vibes. Consequently, this place-to-be attracts a slow cooker of personality types that takes people watching to nose-bleed heights.
Good but missing the wow factor. Visited on a Wednesday night with some colleagues and I was shocked to see such a large place absolutely packed. Service was good and staff were friendly and accommodating. I played it safe and tried a pizza, an actual Italian style pizza (rare in Australia I must say)...i was pleasantly surprised. This place serves QUALITY legit pizza, no bs with bbq sauce, tandoori chicken, or that sort of bs. My colleagues had beef and lamb but were unimpressed by the portions of sauces (the expectation was not met). One of us had a marinara pasta and walked away very happy, portions looked generous. Location for this place is great and the roof top bar should not be missed. Overall good food bit they need to try harder.
I used to love visiting The Ivy when I was in Sydney but it's gotten a little tired over the last couple of years. Enter Coogee Pavillion. The open kitchen serves up amazing woodfired pizzas (try the Gamberi) and the atmosphere is absolutely buzzing. Cocktails are phenomenal and the rooftop is also amazing (but supremely packed). It's a great place to catch up with friends but ensure you book
So the pizza here is pretty amaze! I've had a few different kinds and I always love it. And even though they don't appear to make their own gelato, wherever it is from, I'm a fan.

Nice views of the beach since we sat at a window seat, atmosphere was very lively and local. It was a very big venue, perfect for small or large gatherings.

Fell in love with this place within 15 minutes of sitting here having one of their Margarita Pizzas at the bar after spending time at the beach just seconds outside. Such a cool environment if you don't mind loud music and loud talk. Loved the atmosphere so much, we decided to stay here for dinner. Started with a large platter of sashimi that was pefect! Mains came out almost straight away. Mussel Pot, Poached Chicken Salad, Pork Belly 🐷, Pasta with Pipis. All meals were so delicious!! Definitely a must try if you are visiting the area. Would definitely be my local here if I lived in Coogee. Kid friendly as well! 😍💙
Not a bad place, music was a tad loud so made it impossible to speak to the person next to you but only waited 15 mins for our table to come around and food came out quickly. Crowd is pretty young so would say not a super family friendly place.... the fried chicken burger was yum!
Wanted a quick dinner whilst in the area & this was the perfect place. Great setting & location, buzzy & upbeat atmosphere and fantastic food and drinks. The pizza had a nice chewy base & generous, flavoursome toppings. Its also super friendly for families with kids. Can't wait to come back for more great food, fun times & good drinks!

This place is always jam packed in a good way. Its teeming with people. I had the pita chips with hummous and the baby squid. All the items were made well. Prices are reasonable and you get an amazing view over coogee. Overall, a great place to chill.
On a glorious Sunday we started the day with a brunch in Harry's Bondi, completed the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk, and found ourselves at Coogee Pavilion for a cold beer. What a way to conclude an amazing day and enjoy the best beach life style Sydney has to offer. The place is already packed in the downstairs bistro - food and drinks were flowing, people were chatting and laughing - wasn't this the happiest place to be right now. We certainly felt the cheerful ambiance rubbed off on us. The view from the rooftop is something else; when the sea breeze brushes across your face and you are basking in the beams of sunshine, life is good!
Perfect location and a great spot for weekend drinks with friends after a day at the beach. The crowd is a real mix of beach goers, those who are dressed to impress and even families. Downstairs has a cocktail bar and a restaurant which serves up pizzas that you would expect to find in an Italian restaurant. These pizzas are available until close and can be ordered takeaway. Make sure you also venture upstairs which is always popular and has a great balcony area. My favoutiye cocktail is the pawn star which is full of passion fruit flavor and served with a shot of prosecco. Coogee Pavilion is iconic and always an inviting option.
I don't spend too much time down in this part but when I do it is always extremely busy and 99% of the time snagging a seat or a corner to comfortably stand is virtually impossible. BUT the pizza, venue design / décor and genuinely friendly staff make up for that!
Great beachside family-friendly destination to meet with friends for drinks and a bite to eat. The games room out back with building blocks, ping pong tables and giant noughts and crosses is a great distraction for young and old.
The place does feel a tad overcrowded though - not sure if there were just fewer people here when we last visited or if there have actually been tables and chairs added making it quite a tight floor space, and difficult to navigate past.
Nonetheless, service was snappy with our banquet meal brought out at a regular pace, and drinks constantly replenished. Dishes are presented as share plates; We could have done with bigger servings of the potato gnocchi with broad beans, pancetta, white wine and pecorino and crispy sage and less of the pork cutlet schnitzel, otherwise, the portion sizes were pretty spot on.
It is on the pricier side for what is ultimately gastro pub food in a casual environment.
As soon as you walk into this establishment it will leave you with an impression. Whether it's from their wood fire pizza prepared on site, tingling cocktails or smooth beats, The Pavilion screams trendy and a good night out. Good food, good atmosphere but the only real downside would be the staff. Don't get me wrong, there are some gems there such as Pat who is his own character, but it's more the security that over step. Let's just say I had a bad experience one night and haven't been back since....
Beautiful place to take your family to chill at the back where kids can play. It's s nice pub near the beach food is ok not too fancy. Coffee was great! Service was always with a smile.

Excellent food and service. Fresh oysters and fish. What else can you ask for in a seafood focused venue? Extensive wine list and the food here goes well beyond the typical seafood venue. They do it all right here so cheers!
We had the pizza here. The best pizza base I had every tasted. It is light, puffy on the side and properly thin inside. The topping was pretty simple. I would prefer it to have more vegetables.
The Pavilion is a bit difficult to navigate initially. The pizza place caught our attention straightaway. But when we had to order, we were referred to here and there and there and there. We almost left. Luckily we did not.
Place has a great vibe and is pram and wheel chair friendly! No wonder it's a favorite haunt for many family get togethers. The place is sectioned into different food and beverage precincts which caters to different groups. From the island bar to a indoor playground tucked at the back, makes it a great hang out for different groups. The coffee is great, food could be a hit and miss with what u order. We loved the daily muffin on the occasions we have been there. The baked eggs were over cooked and too dry for our liking.

Also as He mentions, it’s a Hong burger which based on his burger at The Fish Shop, meant it would be worth the schlep over to the east.
What a great concept. Packed on this Sunday so lucky we booked. A fun place to spend a day. Food in restaurant down stairs was better that expected. Fish & steak great. Wine list solid - service young but eager. Upstairs great place for a drink and afternoon session. Another winner.
Since moving to Sydney in January, I think I have been here the most! The food is great, if not a bit pricey, and the venue is really cool. My favourite dish was the bug, but they've just changed the menu! Can't go past a good pizza though :)

My fav local. Downstairs the seafood bar is seriously good. Fresh oysters and seafood platter is fresh but pricey. Upstairs the cocktail lounge is fabulous. Great views, cocktails and music = good times. Great in summer after swim.
First time visit. Friendly and attentive staff. Lucky to be seated right away during Saturday's busy lunch period! Loved the open space/warehouse feel. Family friendly with kid play section out back. We had the Gamberi pizza + 2 sides to share. Yum! Enough fuel to hit the coastal walk to Bondi! Update: 2nd visit - mid July. Still great customer service and food. We had the fish of the day and gnocchi + dessert to share :P. They stock James Squire Cider for those who are interested. Fast turnover, but you don't feel rushed here.

The sun was shining, the mother-in-law was in town, we all needed was somewhere to eat – so how about we hit the coast and dive into the epically-sized Coogee Pavilion. We’d been here once before for a bit of a pit stop/rehydration session – sitting on the Rooftop bar looking all disheveled and sweaty amongst the manicured socialites, after doing the Bondi to Coogee walk.
Awesome spot to grab a beer after the bondi to coogee on a hot day. Good music and a great upstairs patio. The place is huge so you should always be able to find somewhere to grab a table.
We checked out the coogee pavilion on Anzac Day eve when we were in Sydney recently. For such a large restaurant they certainly know how to put on good food! We had booked a big table of 10 + people and I was very surprised when all our food came out at about the same time. I order the fish special, it was king fish with capsicum purée, i really enjoyed it! Really nice place for Sunday drinks!
This place is huge and was packed on the night I came. Ordered the orecchiette with spanner crab, garlic chives, lemon, chili with pangrattato. Very nice and tasty pasta but I think there could've been more crab! The pizza was nice too and everything we ordered was lovely. I absolutely recommend the broken burrata with stonefruit, honey and olive oil!
Made a dinner reservation for 13 people on the busy Sunday night of the Anzac Day long weekend. After having a few drinks at the rooftop bar we all headed down to our table for dinner. The service was both friendly and professional and managed our large table with no problems. I ordered the fish special which was kingfish with smokey capsicum puree, baked fennel and shallots. The fish was beautifully cooked and went really well with all of the accompaniments. My only comment is that the dish could have benefited from an additional vegetable component - maybe some broccolini or asparagus. I also really enjoyed the cocktail menu. If you're into the fruity cocktails you cant go wrong with the Coogee Be Loved cocktail or the Pavilion Pina Colada.

Had the dry aged rib eye for 2 and it was absolutely amazing, juicy tender steak all cut up and cooked to perfection, one of the best steaks ive had in sydney

The food is good - atmosphere is good - the games are a nice touch but the whole thing is a on the pricey side so be warned. It is very popular and you might have trouble getting a seat during peak periods. Rooftop is nice but get in early to get a good table. The Burger is a must try if like me you love a good burger! that sauce yum yum.
Absolutely love this place. We weren't able to eat there due to time constraints but we had a couple of beers on the rooftop. This place is top notch. The views were phenomenal and the beers were as crisp as a cracker. Lovely. Get there. There even a vibrant area where the kids could hang out. Family friendly.
The burger here is brilliant and definitely a must have if in Coogee. The atmosphere is really good with a sea side theme to the place. The pints of beers go down real well as do the cocktails
This is busy place with a long queue on weekends where scarcely you'll be able to find a seat. It wouldn't be a good fit for a group of people.
The food was just OK and under our expectations but the price is high and it's not worth it. The only good thing about this place is the view of the sea only if you can find a seat close to the Windows.
On ground floor the vibe is buzzing filled with locals. The cocktails are great here and so is the pizza. I prefer level one where the atmosphere is much more relaxed out on the patio. The food is middle eastern inspired and quite nice.
It's been about 2 years since I've been to Coogee Pavilion by Merivale and I seriously wonder why it's been so long since I've been back. I recalled their burger being pretty good, but for whatever reason I never made it back. Well, I'm back!
Beef, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, burger sauce
This burger is pretty much as simple as they come, and that's what makes it so great. Steamed and grilled milk bun, medium rare beef, and a burger sauce that has a bit of a zip (pretty sure it's horseradish,) this burger ticks the boxes. Beef was juicy and packed with flavour, the bun was squishy soft and good, and the toppings were fresh and zingy. Reminded me a bit of Burger Project with a tangy sauce, which is a good thing. The lettuce was the weakest part of it all, and next time I'll see if they'll let me order a double.

Went for a lunch on a Saturday, though it was busy the staff provided us a table for two- for two hour seating, which was not pretty bad I guess
The grilled fish was great and just perfect with the dressing and deep fried shallots, pizza was great as well, and ofcourse the dessert was lovely.
Service was close to perfect though I ordered o Heiniken but they gave Kirin instead, was not really bad. And ambience of course is definitely superb.
This was a loud and lively atmosphere with great food and drinks with lots of games and activities available. This place was really quite enjoyable !

Came to Coogee Pavillion on a Sunday afternoon, the atmosphere was great! Busy and bustling with people. The downside was that there was nowhere to sit, we ordered food at the bar and had to stay there to eat it which was a weird experience. We ordered two cocktails which were both scrumptious and sweet!! The chicken burger was tasty, however was a bit too spicy for my liking. We tried to go upstairs but the line was out up the street!! A cool Sunday experience (if you get there early enough to secure a table!)
Amazing rooftop! I'm a local and I love to hang out there. It's big enough that it doesn't feel too crowded but at the same time it's buzzing. The pizzas are amazing!
Went for dinner on a cold blustery summer's night in a very wet Sydney. The Pavilion is a huge space which must seat maybe 300 people at a guess. There are a number of stations including a sushi bar, an oyster bar and the usual bar for drinks. After a short wait we were alerted by sms that our table was ready. The staff were efficient and friendly and our main course came out so quickly that I thought the waitress had the wrong table.
We both had the flathead fillets done in beer batter with chips. The fish was melt in your mouth quality and the chips weren't bad either. We were near the dessert preparation area which I looked at longingly, but a stern look from my wife told me it was a no go.
Really, the only negative was because of its size and the concrete ceilings it was very noisy. Still a good choice for the evening.
Absolutely fantastic venue - a must for any one visiting Sydney. The downstairs area serves delicious pizzas and the upstairs rooftop is the only place you want to be on a Sunday. Relaxing yet chic, with a kids play area and views of the beach - what more could you want?!
Went here last Sunday and was fortunate enough to get a great seat on the rooftop terrace. The views are excellent and the cocktails even better. We all got a crevado and absolutely loved it. Could of had 10 of them if they weren't so strong! The atmosphere is great, and couldn't recommend a summer visit any more!

Atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere... and woodfired pizza.
Coogee Pavillion, while can be very crowded, so much so that you can't hear the sound of your own voice, does deliver on food. I always opt for the woodfired pizza, as you simply cannot go wrong. You just can't.
However, despite the elation that arises from a mere bite into that doughy, puffy crurst, I often find that the toppings are doused in oil and therefore can lack that fresh, light and healthy facade that we yearn for whilst eating pizza.
The salads are extremely expensive for what they are, and likewise, are doused in oil. I know this augments that whole "rustic" feel they are most certainly going for, but it isn't always nice to eat. They change their salads around sometimes, and when I last went i had this interesting cabbage one which actually really hit the spot.
The fried cauliflower is downright awesome. But cauliflower anyway is bound to be good. While the pizza and vegetable dishes are good, I tried one of the seafood dishes and was extremely disappointed. The cuttlefish was bland and lacked flavour bigtime.
Ultimately, the Pavillion is an INCREDIBLE atmosphere, amazing surroundings, beautiful people, good service and relatively reasonable prices considering the location. The pizza is awesome (gamberi being my favourite) however the sides and salads are (admittedly) overpriced.
Food is good we had the pippies in black garlic and butter they were outstanding as was the hamburger the pizza was not the best it had way too much garlic
The service is not bad but not great excusable as it was jam packed

Expensive and crowded, but a lot of fun. Whether you're after an early beach breakfast, or a late night out - pavilion seamlessly offers both. Another Merivale success.
This place has a good vibe, great jazzy tunes and nice views of Coogee beach, but the real reason for my review is the burger. An absolute gem. Most new burger places think American equals greasy. This is Vintage American. Smokey chargrilled pattie not too greasy, American cheddar, lettuce tomato onion and dijon mustard on a soft buttery bun. So much flavor and with a side of cider was perfect prep for the long walk back to Bondi!
Justin Hemmes strikes again. Seriously this guy can't get anything wrong. From the wood fired pizza bar to the seafood area and the drinks, this place is the perfect place to come if you're in a group. The cocktails are delicious and the atmosphere is perfect for an late lunch, afternoon drinks!

Coogee Pavillion is a huge beach-themed space, just steps from the waves and peppered with unexpected gems hidden within. It's got your more traditional restaurant gems (wood-fired pizza oven, bar, open kitchen) and then your downright awesome gems (ping pong tables, giant jenga set on fake grass, giant scrabble wall, antique barber shop, flower stand) that make it an unforgettable and truly unique dining experience.
We arrived for dinner at almost 9pm on a Friday night and it was still heaving with people. We start with some cocktails - the best being the creamy sweet pina colada.
Then the food comes and the drinks are forgotten. The sashimi platter is gorgeous and ridiculously fresh with a huge variety of fish. The platter boasts both traditional sashimi and also sashimi with a subtle, refreshing marinade which provides a surprising complexity in flavour – a distinct upgrade from the plain sashimi platters that you find elsewhere. The freshness in seafood is maintained with the arrival of the two-tiered seafood platter, which is jaw-droppingly huge. While the bottom tier consists of 12 raw oysters, the top tier held Moreton bay bugs, king prawns, scallops, scampi, crab and lobster. Although the platter also came with a number of different condiments, these condiments weren’t necessary as the pure goodness of each perfectly-cooked component was more than enough alone. Our side of fried potatoes with chilli aioli is a carby heaven – potatoes crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and finished with lashings of the aioli.
We finished with Vinnie’s pizzas. Although we found the pizza toppings to be a tad underseasoned, the wood-fired base was pillowy soft while paradoxically crusty and smokey at the same time. Our favourite would have been the “Maiala”, which had Italian ham, Fior di Latte, parmesan and also hot salami to really amp up the flavour. Delicious – with just a bit of a kick from the salami.
An overall great dinner, great atmosphere, and a great place :)

Great spot to people watch! Beautiful coffees and tasty food. No wonder it's always packed. We ordered the smoked trout salad and a bacon and egg sandwich with kim chi. Yummy! Will be back!
Went there yesterday after doing the Bondi to Coogee walk and for a Monday evening the place was packed. It is a fabulous place to sit down, relax and drink with a view of the beach. They have a good selection of brews and drinks and munchies to go along. If you dont want a drink then you can grab yourself a coffee from Wills & Co from there as well. The staff are super friendly and are more than ready to help you.
Ping pong tables, a giant scrabble wall and synthetic grass fields? No wonder my kids love this place so much, it ticks all the boxes for young and old. As any parent of three young children will testify, happy kids = nice day out for all. I’m in. This place is huge and so unique. Sydney has never really seen anything like it before. Justin Hemmes has sprinkled some Merivale magic yet again with this beautiful nautically themed beachfront development.
Absolutely fabulous. The service and atmosphere are fantastic, complete with quirky ping pong and other games down the back. The food was beautifully prepared, would absolutely go back.
Lovely dining experience with friends. Went on a sunny afternoon, the opened setting of the bar area made me feel like I was basically on the beach. The prosciutto rucola grana was really well done, though it was a bit annoying that we had to cut into it ourselves since the base wasn't cut all the way and the prosciutto was laid over the slices. The patate e salaiccia was very basic. Nothing special, similar to a meat lover but definitely better.
Food here is definitely a must. We had the prosciutto pizza and sebago potatoes. The theme, ambience and food here are top notch. A really lovely experience. I'll be back.
This place is so cutesy. My sister and I did the beautiful Coogee to Bondi walk along the water and stopped in here for a coffee. The coffee was good and the menu looked appealing. The best part about this place is the location and the decor. The view is stunning and the place looks immaculate. It is styled so well - it is light and bright and you feel happier just for being inside the place. This would absolutely be a regular haunt of mine if I lived in the area. Will go back and visit every time I visit Sydney.
Really cool venue, I was in town for for work and staying right next door so ate there a number of time over the two weeks. Over that time had fish and chips, number of pizzas and the steak. The steak was probably my favorite and the best one I have had so far in Australia. It is pretty busy most nights, even in off season and a number of times we ended up eating at the bar.
Great alternate beach pub. Weekends are packed with long waits but weekdays are very amenable. This place has it all. But most of all the coffee is excellent !
Coogee Pavillion is a genius concept, simple menu and feeds creativity! Love to come here to get inspiration and ideas. Easily one of my favourite spots in Sydney!
We have been here a few times and this was the best visit so far. The new menu is very good however could do with a few more salads as sides. I though also that our meals were delivered a bit hap hazardly especially for our starters which isn't great if you are on a timescale with young children.
The facilities for children are pretty good and the seats that attach to the benches allow you to sit along the front at the high tables and make the most of the beach side location. Although we didn't use the play area this is great for older children.
I would recommend booking as well as the weekends can be very busy and walk ups aren't accommodated very well as we found on one other visit earlier this year.
In summary, aside from the few issues we had it is a really lovely restaurant and we and our friends will be back. Well worth a look after a walk from Bondi along the coast.
Good atmosphere ( babes everywhere) , although wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. Descent food but long wait times . Beers expensive but its to be expected. Friendly staff.
Came here for a casual Sunday feed after the Bondi to Coogee walk - pizza was really good! Had a couple of ciders and it was starting to pack out. Staff were really friendly as well!
The Coogee Pavilion has a nice charm to it. It’s usually my stop off before doing the Coogee to Bondi walk. I finally decided to get the steak there; one menu had it down as a butcher’s steak the other as a 400g T bone. It came with shoestring fries and melted shallots. I ordered it rare and took a seat by the window. Soon after the steak arrived, the steak fully covered in melted shallots and surrounded by fries.
This place can get stupidly busy and no doubt you're bound to rub shoulders with strangers. If you're after a quiet drink then maybe try a week day over a crazy Sunday afternoon. Other then that... Super cool atmosphere and lots of people. Great place to get out and socialise. Food and drinks are pretty good to. Try the chicken burger...awesome. Definitely above average! Highly recommended.

An iconic Sydney landmark that has been transformed by Merivale to cater to the needs of the local community, especially young families. The ground floor is huge and has a market feel to it with a dedicated kid’s play corner. Play, eat, drink and be merry at Coogee Pavilion!
Coogee Pavilion opened in July 2014 and this iconic building overlooking Coogee Beach has been transformed into a dining venue for all walks of life, from hipster to young family. Merivale are behind Coogee Pavilion and have recognised that the area is full of young families and therefore provided a venue that caters to them. They have gone all out to create a vibe, facilities and menu that young families will love. The ground floor is the first of the three level complex to open and has a ‘market’ feel to it. Walk around and check out the fresh local seafood, including a raw and oyster bar. If that’s not enough, there is a Will & Co coffee cart (open from 7am), cold-pressed juice cart, grilled meats, florist, barber, theatrette, ping pong table, toy area and huge scrabble wall.
Families tend to congregate in the far left corner where little ones can play on the fake grass area and older children can enjoy a game of giant connect four or scrabble. With so much space, you can let the kids enjoy themselves without worrying too much about other patrons. The kids menu is on the back of the colouring sheet, which you may have to ask for. They have all the usual suspects covered, such as fish and chips ($12); cheese and ham toastie ($10); grilled fish, steak or chicken with vegetables or fries ($12); and Vinnie’s kids pizzas ($10-$12). Kids smoothies are $8 and available until 2pm Mon-Fri and 5pm on the weekend.

Another food venture by the Merivale Group and this time is it at Coogee. It has been a few months since Coogee Pavilion opened and it has been on my list. I did wonder when I could take the opportunity to frequent Coogee as it is literally the opposite side of the city from where I live. Lo and behold a friend suggested we ladies meet up at Coogee Pavilion as she had been there and really enjoyed the vibe and the food. So here we are on a warm and sunny Sunday afternoon enjoying the glorious weather and taking in the atmosphere of this happening place. Fortunately we were allowed to book a table because it was packed as sardines and there were so many walk ins who had to wait for a table. It is located at the most perfect spot right next to the promenade facing Coogee beach. There is a kiosk for take aways and in the main building there are sections for grilled food, juices, pizzas, Will and Co coffee and seafood (fresh/raw or cooked). I could not believe how large the space was. More on what I saw later in this post. We decided on the following: Mini lobster roll with lemon mayo, celery and chives. I had to order this as I was curious to check it out. I liked the mini size, enough to get a good taste but not feel too full to have other dishes. There were nice flavours of tang and crunchy crispy chips. Yes, there were potato chips in the mix. Interesting combinations which I enjoyed. A couple of us ordered the Coogee Diner Burger with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle with a burger sauce. Served with chips of course! Yep! It was seriously good! I could not get over the pillow soft burger buns, soooo good! Oh dear, I am getting hungry just describing the dish! MA had the Margherita pizza. We weren't sure if she could finish it all by herself but she did. All because the pizza base was paper thin, super thin! I WISH PERTH HAD A PLACE LIKE THIS, AWESOME KID FRiENDLY. After Dining in Surry Hills all week and not being able to seat our 1 year old in a high chair the whole time we were there the Coogee Pavilion was a pleasant surprise. Excellent facilities for young and not so young a like. Staff were attentive and super friendly and the food was delicious. We are from Perth so the prices seemed more than reasonable. We will definitely return with friends. I had the Mud crab but was hard to choose as the burger, sushimi and pizzas all looked good and will try on return. The wife had the fish and chips and they were equally good as my meal.... WELL DONE
Trendy but terrible service. Beautiful spot at the beach however the customer service is beyond awful. Slow, incorrect table food service and lack of order among staff is evident everytime I've been to the pavilion.
Staff really need an eyeopener or direction in how to work efficiently and to customer satisfaction.
The reason I've been back many times is the vibe (excluding food as the service ruins this) and the games area. The bar service is fine. So it is an enjoyable environment.
Food is overpriced for the menu and service. If service was better maybe they could argue the food prices.
It is a fun place to go and one of very few in the eastern susuburbs.
Rude service. On 2 occasions we have been told there are no tables, only to walk in and find our own table. Fantastic food though & great atmosphere.
Good music and atmosphere.. Ohhhh it's suppose to be a restuarant review and not a winebar. Well, then arrrrrrr okay. Hmmmmm, the menu is good, the intent is nice, the service is okay, the food when it comes, if it comes, if it comes as you requested could be great. I guess it's too big a place for the kitchen staff and the floor staff to manage. Nothing came right as we wanted apart from the cake we brought in for the occasion. Look to be honest the place has potential as long as the owners get with the purpose.
Even after the disappointment not even an apology from the management. What we got on the bill was the surcharges etc.
Good luck going but I guess its best if you want chips and a drink in the summer.
Great sunday beach lunch. Came in for lunch after being on the beach for a while... They have gone for the Grounds look - which works near the beach.
We had a sashimi platter to share, then i had the sardines and hubby had the burger.
The sardines were rosasted with a salsa verde on top - seriously i dont think ive had fresher, yummier sardines since eating them in Sicily. OMG i will dream of them.
Husband said burger was awesome.
We loved the service too.
I am surprised at the poor ratings on Urbanspoon - anyhow the day we went it was great. Worth visiting.

Good wine & pizza. Been there twice, both times the place was completely full, was a bit hard to find seat or tables available ( was not even weekend) but after settled everything was very smooth. Good pizza and good wine. Very family friendly and huge area for kids. Tables around the bar and open kitchens. Marivale did good with the refurbishment.
Great bar for drinks. I didn't eat here as I'm usually about wary over merivale venues but this place is awesome for drinks with friends. It's about time coogee got somewhere as cool as this! Food reviews don't sound great so will just stick to drinks there
Great pizza, average overpriced steak. Mixed experience. I had a great pizza as the coal fired pizza oven was too tempting to pass up. My lunch guest had a steak. At $30 we were expecting a bit more than was served. It wasn't the size but the quality that was disappointing. Onions all over the top which wouldn't be to everyone's taste. We were also refused any substitution for fries as my guest was trying to be healthy, but apparently the chef's won't budge. So it was just a very average steak with fries. Bottled water was also $10 which seemed expensive compared to other places. either. Cool looking coffee cart though. Venue looks great and the service was efficient and friendly. If you are a young mother you will love it, as it was like a mini creche there were so many families around! Would not go back until there are more levels open.
