We have waited 2 and half years for this great restaurant to reopen. Worth the wait. It is the only place I will eat steak which is always served to perfection. My husband and I love the food and the ambience. George is a great character who greets you on arrival. To top off our weekly visits is the wonderful waiter Jeffrey. The perfectionist. He loves his job and it shows. Well done George and of course Jeffrey.....the waiter we ask for

This place was phenomenal. Took my partner out for dinner and was simply blown away by the quality of food, service. Taste was second to none and value was even better. After a few drinks and entree plus main meal i was surprised by the price too $170.00!!! This is a superb restaurant and would HIGHLY recommend it.

Very disappointed, we dined there on Saturday night. It was a last minute decision so we were more than happy to be split over two tables (there were 5 adults 4 kids) We quickly ordered the kids food so they didn’t have to wait. We than ordered the rest of our food at the same time as the other adults. While waiting for our meals my husband asked 3 waiters for some water to which never came. Kids meals came out quickly. Than the other table with the other adults food arrived. Whilst my husband and I waited and waited for our food. All the other people with us for dinner had finished there meals and we still had no food we asked a waiter and we’re told it was almost done. Another 5/10 minutes and still nothing we asked again and told won’t be long. Finally they bring out our food - husband ordered the salmon (this came out laid on a pile of chips ) for a nice restaurant this was something you could of purchased a fish and chip shop. A plate was placed in front of me which was not what I had ordered I asked her what this dish was and explained I didn’t order that. I was told oh we can re cook you the meal (by now the kids and family members were ready to leave so we didn’t have time to wait for a meal to be cooked) so the waiter replies with well you can have this dish than. (No apology no nothing just here have a different meal) I declined as I did not like that dish. I explained the issues to the lady at check out and was like they did not care of the mistakes what so ever.

Went there today looks nice inside friendly staff but that’s where it ended. My friend ordered chowder and I ordered marinara. The pasta was literally cold and chowder was just an unknown slop couldn’t sea what seafood was in it and tasted like raw flour. The pasta dish was cold and sections of my place lukewarm was definitely not made to order. It’s a cold day and I want a hot dish to comfort my soul. Won’t be going back hugely disappointed and don’t even have a proper website. I wanted to view menu but unable to. We were also charged for water $7.50 but then refunded. I left hungry angry and not sure what to think and my friend even more p*Ssed off.

Wonderful girlfriend's lunch at Coolangatta today. All our food was yummy. Service impeccable and our delightful waiter Jeffery was a credit to your business. He was friendly, knowledge about food and drinks, and attentive to our needs. Will definitely be going back. Thankyou George for opening up in Coolangatta. Wishing you much more success.

Location is great, staff were well presented and very helpful. Decor top notch and the meal was as we expected top shelf. A great addition to the local eating out venues in Coolangatta. Thanks George and Staff

Had lunch at the new location in Coolangatta on Thursday. It was fantastic! Food was sensational, staff were so friendly and service was great! My husband and I have vowed to go at least once a week from now on!

Always visit this restaurant when in Coolangatta. Love the simple Greek food and the great staff😁
The seafood is fresh and the side salads are generous Will be coming back

Customer service was extremely poor. Walked in and greeted by one lovely waitress who was about to seat us, when an older waitress came up to us and told us that we weren’t allowed in because of the take away coffees we had in our hand. We walked away and finished our coffees only to come back and have to wait 5-10 minutes before we were even acknowledged to be seated - the same older waitress who told us we weren’t allowed in, also blatantly ignored us.
The food was average;
- entree was tiny for what we paid, $15 dollars for 2 small slices of lamb that were too salty
- carbonara was bland and nothing special
- marinara was floury and pasta was over cooked
Would not recommend it to anyone. Unfortunately an extremely different experience to the other George’s Paragons we’ve been to.

As others have said, getting here early is a good plan (17:30). The service was fantastic as in the tables were constantly tended to enthusiastically.
I had John Dory special and there were souvlaki and kids snitzels etc. All meals were presented very well and cooked perfectly. Hot meals and quality product. Knowing i was going to review the place i was looking for things that would go against the overall experience and i came up with nothing. $105- for 4 meals, 1 entree saganaki and drinks. Our dinner was spot on.

Really disappointing. My partner and I dined there on our special 'going out' night of our weekend away, hoping for something really nice. I had Barramundi with garlic cream sauce and prawns and he had snapper. Both of us had watery, bland, small pieces of fish. Don't bother with this place. It reads well, declaring low prices, but in reality you're better off paying $5-$10 more to get a decent size piece of fresh fish. Won't be returning.

You can't book so you have to line up. With the line overlooking diners on the other side of a clear glass wall. The food has definitely gone downhill too.

Have eaten at George's many times and if the line is out the door it is justified. Service is always good and so too is the food, highly recommend but get in early as it fills up fast.

Went to George's for a 70th Birthday. Service was lovely (excellent) however my meal was terrible. We ordered 2 snappers, It was overcooked and dry (aka leather fish), 1/2 a emaciated bug was ok, broccolini was also like leather, however the off prawn which I promptly spat out made my night. At that point I couldn't eat anything else.

We also ordered three marinara's and there was 1 prawn, 1 mussel, 1 scallop, and 1 piece of calamari in each, however the spaghetti was basically like Hines tined spaghetti, not quite as good as Aldi tined spaghetti. The vegetables arrived after our plates had been cleared off the table. And our pram wasn't allowed in the restaurant. However one couple shared a platter which the did enjoy.

They did offer another meal and if they could do anything however not much could help. They didn't charge me for my meal and they gave me 2 free cokes

Would I go back NO. The waiter was lovely though.

This restaurant is lovely. Good atmosphere and waiters have good menu knowledge. Food was plentiful and tasty.

Burnt brulee. My family recently visited George's Express Dining at Coolangatta and we're extremely disappointed by all aspects of this restaurant. It was a hot night and the outside dining area was stifling. We had to ask for water 10 minutes after being seated. We asked for a jug to be left on the table but was told that there was only 5 water jugs for the whole restaurant. Three of us had lobster which was quite small and another 2 people had steak which were very average. My girls then ordered creme brûlée as this is their favourite dessert and have had it on numerous occasions. One daughter had it for her wedding dessert so we were all well aware how this dessert should have been presented. When the desserts came out we could smell that they were burnt and tasting the bitter burnt toffee topping left a nasty taste in our mouths. We immediately complained but was told that creme brûlée is meant to be like this. I remarked about the quality of the crime brûlée that I had recently experienced at Sanctuary Cove George's and was told again that the desserts were acceptable. The waitress offered to get the manager but he/she did not present to our table. The couple at the table next to us also ordered a creme brûlée before us but their dessert was not brought to their table until well after our complaint. When their dessert was placed on their table the waiter told them that he would come back and check if their dessert was ok. It was a perfect caramelised brûlée. When I went to pay the account I again asked for the desserts to be refunded but this requested was refused. Why would one waiter say that our dessert was acceptable when clearly it wasn't which was made very evident by the effort they made to get the dessert perfect for next table. We paid over $300 for 6 people for very, very average food, extremely poor service and no customer satisfaction for an official food complaint. The waiters were very proactive in asking if the meals were ok but didn't want to know about anything wrong. Not worth the bad night as if leaves you literally with a bad taste in your mouth.

A lot to be desired. I rang a week prior to visiting George's Paragon in Coolangatta and I was told that there would be 'absolutely no trouble accommodating for a party of 15'. On the day we turned up and requested a table for 15 we were told point blank that they would not accommodate a table of 15 for my mothers 70th birthday, even though we could clearly see that there were more than 15 seats available, the refused to merge the tables to create a space for our party and proceeded to fill the tables with parties of 4-6. The wait staff, bar staff and who I can only assume was the manager as no one would reveal their title, dealt with our party with what can only be described as utter contempt and disdain.

A experience not to be remembered. Got to the restaurant at 7.20 pm, order our meals and sat and waited. 40 minutes later my wife asked if it was going to be much longer and was advised that the sea food plater for 2 was the priority of the restaurant and ours would be soon. We had two children with us and they were becoming quite hungry by now, so we asked if we can have the chips we ordered so they can eat some thing. An hour has finally come and we got our meals, the pasta marinara my wife and I ordered was more like a sauce soup with spaghetti and fish, nothing special about it, not worth an hour wait for it, the girls gnocchi that we order were packet bought, something you would buy from woolworths, they must buy it from accross the road. So to sum it up, for a $109.00 dinner, you are probably better going to la porchetta , get the same meal, better service and a cheaper price. Also the waiter did mention that he would of given us a discount but the manager refused. So to score this experience out of 10, 10 being great 1 being terrible, I would have to give Georges a 2, I enjoyed the chips.

This place is about quantity over quality
Big servings and great service but the food is designed to look like you're getting a heaps.

Seriously? Salmon and chips?. I don't understand why this place is so popular... I knew once we read at the bottom of the normal laminated menu "Yes! This is the half price menu" there was a problem. I ordered the $18 'half price' salmon and got a piece of grilled overcooked salmon with chips! Shame on you George - it's not a fish & chips takeout.

Georges Paragon Coolangatta. Sorry but not up to speed here
excellent and fast service but the food was lacking
Greek restaurants are renowned for FRESH TASTY food
Most of our platter seemed pre prepared and lacked what we have experienced elsewhere
sorry but you get a generous 4/10 only because of the service

The food was terrible, I don't understand why there's so many good reviews. We cooked better meals in home economics in high school

Great choice. Dined last Wednesday. Wife had Chicken paragon and I had Lamb Souvlaki. The Souvlaki was the best I have ever had. Reasonable prices and Wade the waiter was a credit to the restaurant. Very professional and friendly without being annoying or pushy.

It was our last night or we would have returned for sure. Totally recommend.

Went with the family for dinner on a Saturday night. There was a bit of a wait but well worth it. Excellent food and excellent service.

Lovely time and delish food :). Popped in here on a Saturday night as my local friend had wanted to check the place out. Greek / seafood inspired menu - sounds good to me.

No tables were available so we were seated in the couch area with a menu and we perused them while sipping on wine.

The hardest part was deciding, as everything sounded rather delicious and the prices were pretty reasonable for a beach-side restaurant.

Avocado Seafood was very pleasing, as was the calamari entree. That may have been the freshest most tenderest calamari I have ever had.

The mains were great also, I was a bit more envious of my friend's eye fillet compared to my barramundi main.

Service was great, prices were reasonable - all good. Thank you.

Loved everything about this restaurant, the service by all the staff was exceptional and the food was most enjoyable and extremely good value. Would most definitely go back.

Happy Diners. My Hubby and I are frequent visitors to sanctuary cove and thought we would try the express.
Just as good as sanctuary cove, food delicious and service impeccable.
Make sure you go for the half price menu though, as not sure it would be worth full price.
For a nice lunch/early dinner, would definitely recommend :)

BBQ baby octopus entree and lobster main was to die for.

HORRIBLE!!! Service was exceptional, entre was good but mains were gross. Would have gotten better from a takeaway store
Fiona
Amazing food, great portion sizes. We were a group of 7 and they made room for us quickly without any fuss. Service was the best I've had in my year in Australia.
Toby
What a great place. Food was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. The service was good but not in your face. Make sure to try the garlic prawns its to die for. I will be going back every time I am in coolie.
Kris
Great time. Excellent food and service was outstanding!
Duncan
Excellent food and service. The lamb is to die for. Left a good tip. Will definitely be back.

Calamari is softest I've had for a long time! Meat souvlaki tender... Saganaki with roasted capsicum wasn't what I expected .. The haloumi was hard and not much capsicum with it.. Could have given more pieces for the price you pay...octopus very tasty.. Again Abit stingy... Spanakopita Devine!!! Heated bread roll was so nice but had to ask for olive oil .. Also asked for vinegar which never came out... Should be a standard at any Greek restaurant to have vinegar and oil on the table .. And maybe complimentary as Your spending so much on food. Service was really good.. Well done guys!

I was passing by and stopped for a coffee. It was a very nice coffee but $4.90 was steep. Be honest and fair and people will come back. Don' t take us for a ride.

Average fare. It does concern me when people rate what is clearly a 3 star restaurant with 5 stars (they are not Michelin stars by the way), it prompts me to think of friends and family doing their best to improve the ratings of the venue.
And so it was with George's. As frequent visitors to the southern end of the coast, we had passed by many times, but were never enticed by the menu. With the kids safely looked after, and staying in the hotel above, tonight was the night.
I did ring beforehand to book, but was informed that they did not take reservations, so, we went down to dinner and was informed of a 30 minute wait. No problem - comfy seats, a bottle of champers and a chance for a talk with my lovely wife.
Whilst waiting, we scanned the men - I was hoping to have seafood, but the sauces didn't look enticing, a larger number of fish dishes had a cream sauce base, for me, fish and cream aren't good partners. My wife had already chosen the snapper, one of the non-cream dishes, so I went for the seafood chowder as entree, with veal as main - for some reason choosing two dishes featuring cream.
It wasn't long before we were seated, a very lovely Canadian girl our host.
The chowder was passable, reminiscent of something my mother made in the 80s.
My veal was reasonable, too much cream hid other flavours.
My wife said the fish was dry, she did not finish it.
We had a side serve of vegetables, my meal coming with vegetables and my wife's snapper with chips, of which she ate none. The vegetable were fresh and crisp.
We also ordered a side of olives as starters. Being a Greek restaurant, I hoped for something good. Alas, they were very ordinary, some dried basil sprinkled on top did nothing to enhance what tasted like supermarket jar olives. My wife remarked that the quality of jar olives had increased over the years.
So, overall, the food was just above mediocre, you don't expect too much fine dining on the coast.
The service was very good and the ambience pleasant. However, I would not be a return customer due to the quality of the food.

On a side note, their "half-price" marketing promotion did annoy me. I wondered the purpose of it. The mains were priced at 75% of what you would pay elsewhere, the remainder of the menu was at market parity given the quality and serving.

After calling to see if we had to book and mentioned we needed a high chair, we head down to george's to be told they actually don't have high chairs at their restaurant. They offered a cushion for my 11mth old to sit on. I wonder if their insurance covers infants being placed on cushions???? What a joke!

Sunday. Came here for dinner, prompt staff, efficient service, good selection of mains, but hats off with the pasta...thumbs up the marinara pasta and Chilli prawns Fettucini, adequate wine selection.

We went there on a Tuesday night in July and had to wait for 4 other couples to be seated. I would suggest making a reservation, however the staff were friendly and efficient. The meals are fantastic and they have a good wine selection. I would suggest if you have the warm entre platter you re think a main meal or order to share. Lovely atmosphere and very reasonable prices.

Lovely service with a delicious meal. I really enjoyed my meal at Georges. They didn't have a table free, but invited us to sit on their couches inside (provided for that reason) and have a drink whilst we waited for a table to free up. The staff were impecible, very friendly, unobtrusive and always there when you needed anything. The food was very nice, very fresh, beautifully presented and delicious. Very highly recommended!

All 5 entrees and 5 mains were flawless with great presentation also. Fantastic service and value. Best restaurant on marine pde and southern end of the gold coast.
