I have been making the trek to John Street for brekkie/brunch for quite a few years now, and although it seems to have changed hands in recent years, the quality is still the same. Using wonderful quality ingredients, there is a selection of food for breakfast and lunch, to eat in or takeaway. Breakfast is served all day and lunch starts at 11:30am. There are also tables on the pavement which makes for a dog friendly cafe. Staff are friendly and welcoming, and even when the cafe is packed to the rafters, you can often get a table with less than a 20 minute wait.
Such a beautiful cafe on a leafy street. Lovely service and play area for kids. Fabulous that there is a savoury vegan option on the menu too!
This café is nowhere near where we live however we will venture over there, say once a month, for coffee and a muffin. The muffins are definitely the best in Perth. Always different and just so fresh. The service is always efficient and friendly. We just love it. As an added bonus, it is dog friendly.
Simple food done well. The cakes are all so yummy and not overly sweet. Hits the right spot. Coffee was also good. Ordered a mango smoothie that was soo nice and smooth and not so sweet. Would come back for the nice ambience and the food.
Attended John Street Cafe in September of 2018. Tucked away near residential houses, this place is absolutely outstanding! I ordered The Johns Lot and a Strawberry Smoothie for brunch. The Johns Lot (or the Big Breaky) came with everything as advertised and tasted great. The Strawberry Smoothie was a welcomed fresh addition to my meal. The Staff are outstanding and are always there to help. We did not have to wait long to be seated or to order. Prices are reasonable for the location and quality of the meal. Split Billing is also available.
i would highly recommend John Street Cafe! Check it out if you are in the area.
Lovely food, even lovelier service!
It's set back a couple of blocks from the main street where all the Cottesloe cafés are, so when we got there at 11, there was plenty of room for two for brunch!
Food was very tasty. Bruschetta was good, and my boyfriend enjoyed his full breakfast. Both were well-portioned so we had two clean plates! The only fault I could find was that the chai latte wasn't very strong and didn't really taste like chai, just honey and milk. Still went down well though!
John street cafe is such a cute cafe tucked in the middle of a neighbourhood. I am simply in love with their mocha. I had the bruschetta and a hashbrown. The food made me feel very refreshing. Would love to pop by to try their pancakes and pastries sometime.
Great little place for breakfast. Coffee is fantastic and love what they do with those chunky hash browns. Had the John’s Lot breakfast and it was just the right amount, good quality not to mention very tasty and served warm. Staff are also very friendly and accommodating.
Classy, spacious and classic. Lots of easy, inviting gluten free options and such attentive waiters!! It’s always a good thing when you can merely make eye contact and get a response - great, timeless and welcoming.
It's a great spot off the main strip. Glimpse the ocean. Very pretty. Plenty of flowers. Sort of an older crowd so nice and mellow. Flatwhite was perfect.
Been here a few times now. Always clean, staff are not sitting on your shoulder so you can ease into the order, food and setting. Coffee is nice, always have a few specials and nice desserts to finish off with.
Great meals and drinks at decent prices. I had pancakes and a coffee which was great tasting yet light enough that I didn't feel bloated. Friend had past and a fresh squeezed juice cocktail(no idea what, was told it's a mystery :P). One of the better quality outlets in cottesloe.
Driving into cott with sculptures on I soon started thinking I had selected the wrong restaurant. I somehow managed to get parking out the front and a nice table in the shade. Service was lovely, coffees hot and delicious as was the food. Lovely little breakfast spot.
Slightly tucked away from the beach and a short walk into Cottesloe suburb, this is quite tranquil for an early morning breakfast. Love the location surrounded by high trees and the food/coffee is equally pleasant. Bruchetta with roasted field mushroom was perfect for a light breakfast. Definitely will be back 😍
Average coffee, the fruit nut toast tastes great though. Ended up having severe food envy after seeing other people's food, as they look fabulous lol

So we have been keen to have a breakfast here for a while. We tried a few weeks ago but it was closed for renovations. However we tried again and we were lucky enough to have a early Sunday morning breakfast here. From the moment we walked in it oozed friendly, professional and lovely service. You can see they put loads of love in there cooking and really care about customer service. I had poached eggs $12.75 and latte $3.90. Both were well priced and delicious. My partner in Food had JOHNS LOT $23.00, it looked and tasted amazing. Mushrooms fresh and so tasty, hash brown was one of the tastiest ones we have had. You would be challenged to fault this dish, eggs cooked to perfection. We will return for sure. Great local café in a fabulous location, and staff that deserve your business. ..
I love love love where this cafe is situated. In the midst of the Cottesloe suburbs. The food was also quite good and I would definitely come back again! I'm a sucker for good benedict eggs. This place has the perfect menu for people that don't want that schmancy breakky vibe and just want a good classic breakfast!
Great way to start the weekend. Fresh strawberries mascarpone maple crepes. Smashed avo blistered tomatoes mushroom poached eggs. Yum. Serving on the small size but otherwise lovely. Fantastic coffee!
Beautiful day & a Beautiful Flat white in a mug. ....Yeah that was great👍👍👍. Warm welcome with friendly service. Food was very good. Its a great place to sit outside and watch the world go by.
A bit of a fav that's we've visited quite a few times over the last few years. Friendly staff, good food and coffee, nice location. Never disappoints!
We ate from the lunch menu, good choices and food we ordered was overall nice though not amazing, with generous serves meaning good value. Service was great, nice feels, not too pokey on the inside. Topped off with a delicious hazelnut brownie.
Enjoyable breakfast. Been here three times in as many weeks. Friendly, efficient staff. Tasty food and good choices. Coffee very good and don't have to wait long for it.
I reckon the best time to visit John Street cafe is early morning on a week day. There are few customers so grab the best possie and soak up the views of Cottesloe Beach at the bottom of the street.
Good coffee, great breakfasts. Newspapers are provided.
It can be a bit noisy inside (low ceilings) when customers get excited and start shrieking so an outside table under the iconic Cottesloe pine trees is the go.
Lots of customer service and while staff can be a bit rushed, dumping items on the table, they genuinely want to know if the food is okay.
The local feel & beach air make John St Cafe a special setting... but the service and food were a bit lacking. Nothing was bad, but it wasn't great either.
Really nice little cafe. We were seated and attended to promptly and with a smile. Quite extensive menu - I went with the eggs be edict while my husband had the vego breakfast. Mine was quite nice, although I found the hollandaise sauce a little too sour/tangy, but appreciated the it seemed home made. Vego breakfast was massive, really nice beans, mushrooms and hash brown that I sampled. I had a skinny flat white which was fine, and husband had homemade lemonade which looked pretty but he said it was a bit lacking in flavour.
Good old John street. The menu is simple but pleases all. The vibe on a Saturday and Sunday morning is second to non. One of my families faves
Sunday morning breakfast. The cafe looked extremely busy but we were seated promptly and had our order taken within 5 minutes. The food came out 10 mins later, shortly followed by our coffees. I had the Vegetarian Big Breaky and he had the regular Big Breaky. The serving size was huge, I couldn't finish all mine. Everything was cooked really well and fairly priced at $20 a plate. Service was friendly and the speed of it for how busy they were, very impressive!
One of my favourite Cott cafes! The breakfast menu is super, everything is fresh and made with love. Pretty standard menu but you know you'll pick a winner. I ordered Salmon Omelette and it was packed with salmon, well flavoured and well seasoned. Loved it. Coffee was 👌👌👌 !
Quaint cosy lil place perfect for brunch. Tried a few things but keep on coming back to the eggs be edict and my hungry partner orders the lot. Juices are pricey for what they are but absolutely delicious! Apart from the freshness of ingredients the hollandaise sauce is delish (tad lemony, not too creamy or yolky).
We came to John street Sunday Arvo for a bite too eat , my partner had the spinach salad soo tasty , I had the chicken burger , it was full of flavor with lettuce , tomato , crispy bacon , aioli and a tomato relish the chips were good too couldn't fault it , coffee was great service so so but all in all we will be back
My go to place when I want a quiet bite to eat…Relaxing atmosphere and food and coffee are both super tasty and well priced..If you looking for a place for breakfast this is the place..Very small so maybe 2 or 3 people for a sit down meal
Was told by the Little Sup barista that this was the best place to eat in Cottesloe for lunch. After being served a hearty chicken pie with generous chunks of juicy, tender chicken meat encased in light flakey pastry, I can see why. Generous portion sizes and lovely coffee too.
Had quite a nice breakfast there a while ago with my partner. Coffee was good, the only thing I didn't like was the waiters response when I asked if my big vegetarian breakfast could be made gluten free, he replied yes they'd just change it to gluten free bread, I then replied well are the beans gluten free? He replied of course they are I don't really see how you can put gluten in beans?...Perhaps a small education on food intolerance could help the staff and make people not feel bad about their intolerances.
One of the best breakfast locations in Perth. Classic breakfast and coffee is the way to go at John Street. A perfect end to a walk along Scott beach.
Been a loyal customer of John St Cafe. Really enjoy the salmon & eggs benedict. Their bagel is really good as well. Portion is really good and worth the money you pay for. I like how it's within walking distance to the beach.
John Street Café (near Cottesloe beach) is one of my all time favorites. This was once a boarding house but is now a relaxed little joint that is nestled in a residential street near one of Perth’s most popular beaches. Be prepared to wait for a table because their breakfasts are popular with people who have just had a swim
John Street has long been a favourite cafe in Cottesloe. However, whilst it outshines its neighbors - it is certainly not one of the city's premium cafes. Here you'll find a nice little outdoor dining area and quality food. Try the John Street Breakfast Lot.
What a quaint little place. Service was great and efficient. Food was great too - scrambled eggs, bacon and toast, eggs benedict, salmon benedict, fresh watermelon with mint and lemon and strawberry milkshake.
it felt like we were dining in someone's house.
Regulars. There's not a lot of places in the area that I would return to given the below par food scene in Perth. John st is consistently good with nice coffee, beautiful breakfast and quick service, even though they get quite busy. One of the best egg Benedictus in Perth. If I was to criticise anything, it would be lack of the English muffin as written on the menu, but that is a picky gripe. Definitely a great place for a beautiful meal in a relaxed atmosphere.
My wife,a good friend & I had breakfast this morning. It was superb. Thoroughly recommend the big breakfast. Great size portion for $20.00. Kept us going for the rest of the day. Top notch grub. Coffee is awesome too!
Good Enough. We had some trouble finding this place, because it is called Arcadia? Anyway, service was good and their menu substantial. We ordered a chicken burger and beef burger, both were very nice. Lovely fresh cakes in the display cabinet, and one of the nicest chai lattes I have had. Gorgeous views and tree lined street.
Had breakfast here a few weeks ago. It was delicious! It was pretty busy when we arrived but the waiter could not have been friendlier. Had a short 10 minute wait but it was well worth it. Both ordered the lot and coffees. Coffee was great but the breakfast was even better. Wasn't greasy and the hash brown was to die for. It was a bonus that it was in the Entertainment Book. Will def be back
Lunch time all day breaky....bliss. Terrific, friendly, fast service; excellent food. A little pricey...but definitely worth it. Will be back!
Best place for breakfast and lunch in Cottesloe. Discovered this beautiful and lovely cafe shop on John Street with a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of the main street. Sitting beneath the shade of the pine trees overlooking the ocean and sipping away my coffee...I reckon it's the best place to be for breakfast or lunch. The food was fantastic, the coffee was just right and the service was friendly. They use quality and fresh ingredient from the food to the soy milk for my "soy latte". Highly recommended and you won't be disappointed.
Pricey, but quality food at the same time.
Love it Love it Love it!!!. My favourite place for breakfast. The big breakfast is a must. Best home-made hash browns. I always walk away feeling very satisfied with the food, coffee's and service.
Fantastic service with friendly staff. Lively atmosphere, and the food was prepared quickly, even though they were packed.
Delicious all-day breakfast too!
Highly recommend!
Recommended. Ate brunch and it was amazing. The quality of food and drink was great and the price was satisfactory to the portions. Inside and outdoor seating, dog friendly outside and overall a great place to eat.
Went for Sunday lunch. Food was great, nice atmosphere and the staff are fantastic. Would definitely go back!
A little gem. Had a fab breakfast here at the light and airy John St Café, delicious Salmon eggs Benedict! The service is excellent, very slick and friendly. I would highly recommend here, it's just a few mins walk from the beach at Cottesloe, def worth the tiny detour off the beaten track. A relaxing, laid back and friendly spot, will make a return visit soon!
Had a delicious lunch there. Tasty food and generous serves. Good service too. Will be back.
Excellent service, great coffee, great The Lot Veggie and Meat Breakfast!!
Much better. I went to John Street with a group of 8 this week. We weren't sure what to expect due to the poor quality/service in 2012. However, this place is making a come back - I hear there are new owners? So in closing - don't go! Because I don't want to wait too long next time we go for breaky
Great cafe for casual breakfast. Visited on a Saturday morning, the place was buzzing but not overly crowded like the beach front places. I loved the setting in the leafy street away from the main Cottesloe strip. Food was good quality and serve size is good for a reasonable price. Good service. This will now be my 'go to' place when in Cottesloe.
Used to be a hidden favorite of mine. Quality of the food has gone down from what I remember a year or two ago. We had brunch last week and weren't overly impressed. A mate ordered their big breakfast and made it clear he was allergic to eggs, his breaky still came with eggs...in a dish, on the plate! Not good enough despite he made it clear. Location is still lovely and you can't go past the fact it's BYO: bubbles in the morning or beers kept in their fridge in the afternoon sort of make up for the above misses. 6/10
Best street cafe in Perth. All the varieties of foods are incredibly unique....taste is an A +
Tucked away, nice surprise. Randomly chose this cafe from the Entertainment Book for a late Saturday afternoon lunch. Located in a beautiful leafy street with a relaxing atmosphere. Service was efficient and food came out quickly. Portion sizes are good and all dishes were well-liked. Glad we stumbled across this one. Delightful.
Great Breakfast. We ordered a vegetarian full breakfast and we are not vegetarians. We also ordered the smoked salmon spinach and poached eggs. Both were great. It's a great place for a Sunday breakfast... read the paper, watch the people go by walking dogs. That reminds me the John Street Café is pet friendly. We gave them a try because they were in the Entertainment book and it was a great discount. The only negative is the parking... not so flash... (They cant do much about that though, you'll see when you get there) however once you get to the restaurant the parking hassles will soon be forgotten. You can sit inside or outside... my advice would be to book... This place is that popular people don't mind standing in a line after their meal to pay for it.
You'll have a great time because the meals are tasty, priced for the area, and the staff are not over friendly, not hovering over your table, but fast enough that when you finish your meal they are ready to take the plates straight away. Lovely little spot
The winner in breakfast!. Went there last Sat for breakfast with my in-law who came over from the UK. Heard so many good things about this cafe but have not had a chance to check it out. Again saw it as one of the finalists of the Gold Plate Award, told my hubby that we have to try it out.
Sent an email to make a booking. Got a confirmation about 1hour later.
Despite the bad weather, the place was packed. Luckily that we have made booking.
Between us, we share a bircher, the lot & the Egg benedict.
All were at the top standard. Coffee was excellent too. My in-law was so impressed.
Thanks John st café for a wonderful Sat morning.
Lovely Cafe. Nice and quiet location. Fair pricing. Has street sitting and indoor area with couple of rooms. Enjoyed our brunch there. Friendly and nice staff. Paintings on the walls was giving a feeling of dining in an art gallery which was unique. Haven't seen in any other cafe's. Recommended.
A nice cafe/restaurant serving comfort food. Had waited for a while for the food as it’s on Sunday afternoon.
Ordered a burger and a pancake, they were pretty good. Very good location (in a quiet neighbourhood) with sufficient parking nearby. Just a few steps away from the beach👍🏻☺️
Attended a booked significant birthday lunch at this cafe on Sunday. Apart from limited access to parking, we had a lovely time. We were booked in the library room. The staff were attentive. All meals arrived at the same time. They supplied an amazing cake. The food was delicious and well priced. We would thoroughly recommend it
The food and ther service here is always excellent. Staff are cheerful, respectful and courteous. Always enjoy the ambience of this cafe, inside or outside. Have never been disappointed with the food or service.
A friendly and family feel cafe with a large range of breakfast and lunch items. The cafe itself is spacious with an indoor/ outdoor vibe and a small terrace feel out the front on a slanted roadside. The outside seating is ok, but definitely not ideal with the slant of the path. Ok for coffee not for a meal. The indoor area is very clean and warm, with capacity for a larger group and from what I know they have a private function room out the back for maybe 10 people, but overall the cafe isn't suited to maybe more than about groups of 6. The food is well presented, tasty an well priced. The coffee is a very nice blend and well made. this is an ideal cake and coffee destination with wonderful deserts and cafe style options inside. The cafe is normally pretty family friendly with a real mixed crowd inside and out. Outside was dog friendly and had coupes, young families and elderly all very much enjoying the hospitality. The service we experienced was efficient and very friendly, with clearly very proficient waitering staff who knew the menu well and were relaxed. The bathroom at this cafe are well above standard , were very clean and well kept with styling and actually made for quiet a pleasant experience. the food was very good with a solid vegetarian option and from what I understand they had vegan options also?.. the only major concern I had was the slanted tables outside, and would recommend eating inside and leave the outside dining for coffee and cake.
