Great food, best coffee, awesome views. The breakfast would have to be the best in Perth. Visited in March and pretty much did all the places that people had been recommending for breakfast and this place was a standout.
We were married at The Blue Duck in February. Our ceremony and reception was all we could of wished for. The food was beautiful, plentiful and cooked to perfection, the service was exceptional. I would highly recommend The Blue Duck for functions and weddings you wont be disappointed. Thank you so much to the Team at The Blue Duck. From Stacey and Andrew Herbu.

Beautiful place to eat food was delicious the staff and service were wonderful will go bad again
Fantastic lunch yesterday. Simon our waiter has a terrific personality, he had remembered myself and friends from when we ate at the restaurant 12 months ago. Thank you chefs the food was terrific and just the right size portions. Just like the last 12 years our next annual lunch is booked for 2019.
We would like to say a massive thank you to Jodie and her team for hosting our daughters wedding from the planning to the final day they couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. The food and service was absolutely 5 star , the venue , view and ambience was exceptional.
I would recommend the blue duck without hesitation
Thank you once again, jackie and Andy k
We had our wedding here in 2014 and we promised that we'd put a review... better late than never.
We were so worried because food and drink is the most expensive part of a wedding and we were very impressed because the food was absolutely amazing!!! The venue, food, drinks and service was all that we could have asked for. Had so many compliments. Thank you!!
Food is amazing, awesome service, best view.... just everthing about this place is amazing
Fabulous wedding venue, could not fault a thing, the food was amazing, the staff were fantastic and the setting was beautiful. We were lucky enough to celebrate the wedding of a beautiful couple here and had the best time.
Fabulous atmosphere, beautiful setting , friendly staff, wonderful food , well recommended
We landed a table on the deck Sunday for sunset. The food and service were spot on. The crispy skin Barra was superb. So happy, we booked another table for lunch with friends mid week. Highly recommended by a Melbourne foodie. Just loved it.
Business breakfast. Swift and friendly service. Fantastic coffee. The icing on the cake was the Eggs Benedict. Best I have ever had. This is a must to do again.
Fantastic position looking over North Cottesloe Beach over the Indian Ocean. We went there for drinks at 5, during the happy hour. Cocktails $10, wine $6 a glass, good quality. Had battered fish goujons and fried tortillas with guacamole. Great quality, nice staff, amazing sunset over the ocean
Brunch here was great - gorgeous views of the water. Good coffee and everyone in our group enjoyed their meals- the chilli eggs had a good amount of heat without being overpowering and the side serve of bacon was great quality and a a good size. The eggs benedict was a fantastic combination of roesti, good ham, house made hollandaise and perfectly poached eggs. The Bloody Mary's were good too.
Thoroughly impressed. Service was amazing, views were even better, blankets were provided for the wind outside and the surfers breakfast was only $12 for one of the best restaurants in the area. Nothing was holding me back from giving this a 5 😍 a big well done.
We came here for breakfast on the weekend. This restaurant has amazing view of Cottesloe beach. Food taste quite average but the price was cheap consider the location it is in.
Came here for Mother's Day lunch. Lovely venue with a beautiful view! Food was lovely. Accomodating to our menu changes. Plenty of seating. Barramundi was delicious!!
Came here for a Tuesday lunch. Our first visit and we were extremely impressed. The service was friendly & efficient. The food was delicious. Husband and I shared the crab linguini which was so full of flavour, and a decent serving size. Also shared a special - beef cheeks with gnocchi. This too was delicious. Again shared two desserts, lemon & raspberry cheesecake and the salted caramel & chocolate fondant. I’m not really a cheesecake fan but loved all the flavours. And the fondant was so good I wanted to lick the plate! Hope we’re not let down on our next visit as we can’t wait to come back. Great service, great food & certainly can’t complain about the view.
THE DUCK IS BACK...... Great to see the once high quality Blue Duck back in 'business'. In the days of owner Kim Gamble this has been an iconic restaurant, but in recent years it has been very average despite the glorious views.
The recent refurbishment of the Blue Duck has seen the creation of a relaxed, friendly, well appointed cafe on the beach that meets every need. Great food, top staff who actually understand the menu, and reasonable prices. How refreshing it is to walk in to a restaurant/ cafe, and order a smashed avocado breakfast and the see it come out with TWO pieces of toast and nice accompaniments, and all for around $13.00.
Why we put up with out cafes charging $21.00 for one piece of toast and a smothering of avocado I will never know. Great work Blue Duck. The coffee is also well made with quality coffee beans.
Love this place and really nothing better than to eat and enjoy a drink whilst overlooking North Cott Beach.
The Duck IS back!!
Can not talk more highly of this incredible venue not only for how they treated my wife during our engagement party but for all the effort and hard work they put in to make it special
Great views of Cottesloe beach even on a windy Winters day. Really friendly attentive staff and speedy service as we were one of a handful of people in the restaurant at the time.
Both the chai latte and cappuccino were winners alone. I went with the Canadian Toast which was French toast adorned with bacon, maple syrup, mascarpone and fresh fruit. So very delicious but a giant portion so I couldn't even nearly finish it. Also the brioche could have been toasted a little longer would be my only small criticisms.
The big breakfast also went down very well with the potato rosti being the stand out of the dish!
In love with the winter dinner specials. Tonight's porchetta with mashed potato and truffles was outstanding, as was our seafood entree. The roast pork was juicy, generous and flavoursome.
The staff are personable, knowledgeable, charming ... perfect, really.
The new menu sounds exciting too.
I have been going to the "Blue Duck " since it opened in 1988 .
Built by Perth Entrepreneur, Kim, who had owned the iconic & hugly popular "Kims " in Bay View Tce Claremont , this restaurant has been very popular Since it began .it has had only two owners .
The cuisine if not "haute " is very eclectic & there is something for everybody.
Their breakfasts are excellent , particularly the big breakfast which at $23.50 , is very good value .
Their scrambled eggs are creamy & delicious & there is a very good selection of breads .
The coffee is well made & the staff are friendly & attentive.
The lunch dishes are very good ; particularly the Mini souvlakis , the Mushroom pie & the Tasting plate ,which is very generous .
The wine list showcases many Excellent WA wines .
Sitting on the "sundeck " with a stunning view of the Indian ocean i makes dining here
an incredible experience .
If you haven't as yet been to the "Blue Duck " , I would highly recommend it .
The blue duck is a tried and true favourite for many but is often a bit hit and miss for us. We had Sunday brekky there this weekend and it was spot on. Superb service and yummy food. Great views of course. We were are party of 6 of whom four were hard of hearing. We asked to be reseated in a quieter part of the restaurant and the move turned out to be just the ticket. Going out these days with friends who are hard of hearing is getting less and less pleasant . Blue duck made our weekend. Thanks a million.

Summer is here which means an early start to the day, beautiful beach weather and blue skies and sunshine. Two weekends ago, we were invited for brunch at The Blue Duck, Cottesloe. We were seated by the window facing the pristine blue ocean. It was a perfect day for brunch by the Indian Ocean. Elwyn had the Blue Duck Style Eggs Benedict ($19.50) which consists of beetroot cured salmon, fresh spinach, poached eggs, potato rosti and hollandaise. The tasty potato rosti was crispy on the outside complementing well with the fresh beetroot cured salmon. We loved the creamy flavour of the hollandaise sauce which was the perfect touch to the dish.
We had our work Xmas function here, it was amazing!!! The food was delicious, I had the gnocchi with wild mushrooms all I can say is wow!! One of the best gnocchis I've had in Perth. Exceptional service and what a location!! The waitstaff were well organised which is good for a big function
He took me here for breakfast in the howling wind and pouring rain of last weekend. Fortunately it was warm and dry inside and we watched the squalls come and go over delicious coffee and a delicious breaky. He had the lot and ate most of it while I had eggs and bacon with a side of the best beans ever! The service was friendly and fast and the price was reasonable considering the location. There's nothing to complain about here except the weather.
Been here a few times now and perfect way to spend a Sunday lunch / afternoon. The food did take a little while to come out but it didn't disappoint. We had the share platter and fish croquettes 😋 Tina had dessert - that chocolate smell when it came out was incredible 🍴🍫
Not the best breakfast in the area, nor the best floor organisation, but it's a great spot on a sunny morning. Mark the barista is good fun.
Love this joint - all time best ocean views ever!! Laid back atmosphere and delumptious food makes for a great hangout with friends! Recommend anything on the menu! Staff are helpful and friendly too.
I come here once a month after intense Sunday morning bike rides, great way to end the weekend and good coffee to match the nice beach views.
Delightful atmosphere for a dinner out. Good view, good service and great food! We ordered the pork hock, beef rump and the taste platter between two people and the parfait to finish off.
The food is well presented and delicious. Nice atmosphere, great service. I enjoyed the tasting plate. Not many red meat dishes on menu for husband.
Best views in Perth. You just can't beat our Indian Ocean can you!!!
The food here is good. The breakfast prevails. Order the eggs benedict for a hearty start to the day!
One night my friend asked me whether me and my husband want to have dinner together with him. In an attempt to be a good matchmaker, I excitedly nodded and said yes. I went on to do an in depth research on romantic restaurants in Perth as well as restaurant with waterfront view. That was how I stumbled upon Blue Duck.
This restaurant is quite spacious and well lit, we can even see the sunset from the terrace. The terrace also have some outdoor seating which won't be suitable for a big group of people due to the limited space. It will make a good spot to dine during warmer weather such as late spring or summer. I didn't take any photo of it but there was some blue rubber ducks that can be purchased near the cashier area.
As for food, the Blue Duck served fresh fish and chips which is a good change from the oily fish & chips that we usually got at suburban outlets. Mini tom yum tacos with grilled barramundi was really good, it had good balance of the coriander and chili. The coffee martini was okay and the staff apologized for it because she put too much coffee liquor inside the martini. She offered to get me some sugar that I can put inside the martini but I declined.
On overall note, it was a good dining experience and we will definitely come back to try the winter menu. Also, the matchmaking went too well that me and hubby felt we should left the two lovebirds alone...
We had afternoon tea here to celebrate my sister's big 30. The restaurant was empty on a Sunday afternoon expect for another couple with a huge growling dog on the deck that made my toddler niece and nephew want to sit inside. We had coffees, teas and an array of deserts that looked overpriced on the menu but once plated up and served justified its value. I noticed while walking in that they have weekday lunch specials going on. Will definitely pay this place another visit very soon.
Lovely lunch. Went Monday for lunch. I picked the restaurant specifically for the location with the views.
I wasn't disappointed the weather was nice enough to sea Rottnest !
You can sit both inside and outside on balcony. We picked inside as it was a bit chilly.
Staff: staff were friendly and hospitable enough. Not the most attentive in the world given it wasn't busy but I was happy with the service.
Food:
Shared an entree of salt and pepper squid which was delicious. So fresh .loved it.
Main I had Braised cheek which was delicious and very filling. Husband had gold band snapper and he liked that.
We both left full and satisfied.
I found the food well priced considering quality and location.
No complaints
Would come again
Amazing lunch at the blue duck. Stopped by the blue duck on my second day in Perth looking for a quick bite. The restaurant was quite full and a lovely lady greeted me with a smile and escorted me to a table on the outside deck. The view and the sound of the waves crashing makes this place one of the best I have seen around. I wasn't extremely hungry and the waiter suggested to pick something from their "small bites". I decided to go for taco's and a side of chips. Taco's were well presented and crispy, chips golden and crispy too. I have been offered a second glass of wine and a dessert list on time but without feeling pushed . This restaurant has been a nice surprise
Took my grandparents there for breakfast and had a very enjoyable time. Staff were extremely warm and welcoming with a conversational attitude that made for a pleasant atmosphere. Food was taken out quickly and tasted great. Prices were very decent as well given the location !!
The roasted field mushrooms were served alongside fresh green rocket leaves and two toasted slices of New Norcia’s quinoa and soy loaf. The generous dollop of goats curd and drizzling of balsamic reduction gave the dish a delicious rich flavour. I find mushrooms are incredibly filling and satisfying for a grumbling empty stomach, and the combination of roasted and vinegar flavours was simply divine. I want to eat this all over again!
Fantastic venue for a function. We held our wedding at The Blue Duck in October 2014 and couldn't have been happier with our venue choice, we were particularly lucky that they completed their renovations just before our day. One of the best things about this venue is the balcony that opens onto the spectacular view.
We felt right at ease with our wants and needs for the reception, in particular it was such a pleasure being able to customise our menu as much as we liked, whether it was changing side dishes or requesting exactly which petite desserts we wanted. We had many compliments on the food, as well as the view.
Staff were attentive and professional, no request during the lead up or on the evening was too big or small. I would definitely recommend The Blue Duck for a function!
Breakfast. Every time we come over from melb for a holiday we drive to blue duck and sit on the deck. The service is usually prompt and the foot is always fantastic, with great portions for what you pay.
If they still have the home made baked beans, they are delicious!
The Blue Duck has nice views of Cottesloe beach and it's relaxing to sit out on the alfresco area on a good day looking out onto the ocean. When I dined there I had the duck salad. It was fresh tasting and the dressing had a good balance of flavours, the only thing I didn't like about it was the big pieces of ginger throughout the salad.
Fabulous. My friend and I, from Melbourne, were after a meal and wanting something rather quick. We wandered into The Blue Duck without a reservation and were promptly seated at a table outside (our preference) with water delivered immediately and very friendly service. We ordered 5 mins after being seated and shared the mushroom gnocchi and pear salad. These were delivered to our table within 10-15 mins of ordering and were superb. The gnocchi was so fluffy and melt in your mouth. The mushroom truffle sauce was perfect, light and not overpowering. The salad was fresh, tasty and flavoursome. We were in and out within an hour. The service was impeccable, prompt, polite and friendly with prices to suit the menu. In fact I would say the prices are more than reasonable for the experience overall. I will be taking all of my visitors to this restaurant. I have only recently moved to Perth from Melbourne and if this is what the restaurant standard is, I am a happy gal.
Birthday Delight. Went here for lunch for a friends birthday and had a great experience. Staff were friendly and all our dishes came at the same time. Food wasn't amazing but still a nice meal.
We used the blue duck for our wedding in April 2013. It was ABSOLUTELY beautiful! Sunset over the ocean, terrific service, lovely food and beautiful decor. It's the perfect blend of relaxed and stylish and Jodie was incredible as our events manager. She actually let us decide what we wanted for our reception, which is something we didn't find everywhere. We had just over 100 guests and it was a great size, close enough not to feel like you're rattling around but not squishy. There's was enough room for a decent dance floor too.
All up, it's getting close to our 1 year anniversary and we can't wait to go back!
Highly recommend!. Last minute decision to lunch today before flying back East.
This place is a gem! Our waitress who may have been a manager
was very knowledgable on both the menu and wine list.
We settled for oysters to start and then at her recomendation shared
the slow roast lamb shoulder. This is as good as the shoulder we had at Cumulus in Melbourne but with a view not to be beaten. So glad we lunched
with you today.
AMAZING FOOD & SERVICE. Couldnt beat our night. Sat out on the balcony sipping a passion fruit caprioska soaking up an awesome sunset. Shared the slow cooked lamb shoulder with the hubby. The meat was perfectly cooked, and we left nothing.....
Service was friendly and attentive. Will defiantly be back :)
Nice meal, had the rack of lamb, well cooked and presented, just probably not enough left feeling a little peckish still. Nice service without being overbearing. Sensational location out on the deck
Beautiful view and amazing food at breakfast :) we visit every weekend!
Breathtaking view - albeit it was a sunny day and I felt like my face was burning. Food was yummy - mussels and fish and chips. Service was good. We will be back.
Had a lovely family breakfast here this morning, the staff were nice enough to accommodate me and my dietary requirements. I ordered dairy/gluten free toast with scrambled eggs (no dairy please!) and some avocado, spinach and smoked salmon on the side. Also some olive oil for the toast and a glass of hot soy milk. Frothy! I was told scrambled eggs weren't an option as they already had milk and cream mixed through but poached eggs were an alternative. Delicious breakfast - thoroughly enjoyed by all. Lovely fish tank by the door (kept the kids intrigued), great view. Just a suggestion - maybe a couple more staff working on a Sunday morning would go a long way, it would mean a more personal service could be given to customers which would make the experience even more enjoyable.
A favourite!. We love this restaurant! The staff are always friendly and the food is always consistently very good. The best S&P Squid in Perth!
Great tasting food, Fresh, tasty and well presented. Decent selection of wines and beers. The only small complaint would be probably that the restaurant was a little light on the service, but all in all, it was a delicious meal and one of which we will endeavor to make a return.
I was never a real fan of the Blue Duck so when I saw the restaurant had been rebranded I was keen to visit and see the changes. My husband and I went in January 2022 for lunch. Couldn’t fault the staff from the minute we got there to when we left. They were attentive, friendly and the lady who served us was able to make some great recommendations on meals from the menu. We had cocktails, lunch and then of course dessert. I love the new fit-out. Simple but not too basic. Best location and a great restaurant. Nothing like the old Blue Duck. Highly recommend to all.
Dinner with a friend, did the online booking, easy enough, didn't need it as we went for an early sitting. Service was quick and polite, I had the home made prawn pasta which was delicious and deceptively filling. Dessert menu was a bit uninspiring but will definitely come back for the food we did eat.
Great place! This used to be The Blue Duck. The views are still amazing, the decor is lovely with a choice of outdoor balcony seating or airconned indoor booths, the food is fantastic and the cocktails are good. O ly reason it didn't get 5 stars from me was the service. It's good but not great. Wait staff are friendly enough but need to be more attentive.
First time here and absolutely divine. Staff were attentive, food was delicious and views were a plus. Definitely will be back here!!
After it’s major overhaul from the blue duck, It’s now adopted a modern, sleek and cool atmosphere, with great tasting food and friendly staff. Definitely would come back again.
Lunched here today with 3 friends and could not fault a thing. We were lucky enough to secure the last available table on the balcony and were rewarded with the most breathtaking crystal clear and calm Indian Ocean views.
Staff were friendly and attentive and the food - we mainly ordered seafood - was fresh and tasty. Good coffee and standout desserts. Will definitely be returning soon.
