Review Three Aces - Cowes

Jonathan Ng
Decent-sized servings. We got the mushroom stroganoff crepe, Chili Cheese Diablos (chili cheese fries, basically), and a Chicken Salad. The food was good, and arrived fairly quickly. Staff took a while to warm up to us, but they came around eventually. I'm not sure if it's the first time they had non-Caucasian customers coming into their establishment, but I think they'll be more prepared and welcoming to their next Asian patrons.

Friendly service and decent local food at reasonable prices. Really laid back and comfortable environment, with an interesting arrangement of artwork. All-round pleasant local cafe, would like to come back for lunch! Pictured are the three aces special breakfast and berry smoothie.

Had a great lunch here. I had the three aces burger which was great and the family all went for pan cakes. Will definitely return when we are next at Philip Island.

Great food at this cafe. Okay if you're used to Melbourne prices. The kitchen made a mistake with my order but were very generous in fixing the issue. Would definitely come here again. They also have a couple of couches and toys to occupy children while you enjoy your food and coffee.

This cafe is awesome! The decor is one of a kind and the menu has lots to choose from. I ordered the Avo Benedict which was very generous and delicious. Coffees were great too. It also has a play area for little kiddies which is very ideal for families.

Food here was good, we had burgers and there was a reasonable selection along with specials. It was very clean and friendly, polite staff. Plenty of room inside to eat at tables. They also have a comprehensive breakfast menu.

Friendly service and skilled barista. Provided a discount for keep-cups. Good airconditioning.

Wonderful experience! Being from a food and beverage background, I am extremely picky when going out to eat. We were so pleased to find an actual large coffee offered at Three Aces Cafe. Everyone on the staff were so warm and helpful. My coffee was made exactly as I asked for a "flat white" with NO FOAM for some reason baristas all over Melbourne and surrounding areas are not trained properly, which drives me batty and I always get foam. What a nice treat to actually get what I asked for :) We had the large breakfast and was tasty and filling. Organic's are a big plus for me and my husband since I have health issues. Nice to see organic sugar...and would love to see more free range meats and organic veggies used in all places in Cowes. We were fascinated by the beautiful artwork on the walls and asked about the artist. Amazed to find she is also the owner and chef. I make it a point to meet the owner when we have a good experience to compliment them. Donna was absolutely gracious and lovely. Prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be back!

The atmosphere was very relaxing and unique, featuring a child’s play area. The cheese and ham toastie with Turkish bread was so delicious! Staff are pleasant. I recommend this place for breakfast and have returned here a second time over the 4 day period in which I stayed.

Sunday breakfast, stumbled across Three Aces whilst browsing the nearby shops. Had the Huevos Benedictos! Poached eggs cooked perfectly, tasty beans, avo and chipotle hollandaise yum served on fresh turkish bread! Coffee was perfect, served just how i like it.

I have been to Three Aces a few times and always enjoyed my meal, however I've recently transitioned to vegan and found it really hard to eat here. I went for breakfast and ended up having a blat with no bacon, butter or aioli

Always an amazing meal! Definitely the best pancakes on the island. And always enough room for lots of us to fit for brekky when we have people stay!

Really bad service. Food all came out at different times. The smoothie was forgotten about and we had to ask 4 times for them to figure out where it was. They forgot 2 of the 4 dishes so had to wait a long time for them to figure that out.
Asked for that missing juice to be in a take away cup, was told three times "sure" and then they forgot to do that.
Wasn't even that busy - no excuses.

The food was good, but not enough to forgive the shockingly incompetent service.
If you're down this way, there's heaps of other cafes around.

Ample room and unique decor greets those with an appreciation for tasteful surroundings. The walls display the paintings of a very talented artist.
The staff, a little shy but friendly and approachable. I have visited three aces cafe many times. I have never had a negative experience, hence my decision to review this cafe. So what about the food?...it has always been of top standard, with generous servings and good coffee. For those who love Mexi...you will be pleased as the menu has some typical Mexi flavours. But there's more...amazing milkshakes, freshly made cakes and pastries which are delicious. Reasonable prices for the experience.
Somehow l detect everything is created with the same passion and talent the artist boasts!

I like to be fair and l don't judge overly harshly like others l've read (I.e. Too much food served or coffee too hot etc. etc.) but give this place a wide berth. Staff appeared to be raised by wolves, would not talk to us then mumbled incoherently when we had to ask about seating. Waited for a table, then had to grab it ourselves. Sat for 15 minutes while staring at the previous diners dirty plates while one of the staff wearing a filthy t-shirt walked out the front and had a smoke. Food was served in reasonable amount of time. The fancy $14.90 milkshake had a piece of brownie that was harder than granite. Seriously teeth breaking tough, at that price you shouldn't get stale brownie. Avocado tasted very odd. Poached eggs over cooked. Very unfortunate dining experience and still waiting and hoping we're not going to be ill.

Putrid coffee, it was burnt and served in a takeaway cup ( we were eating in) when I ask for something more in the coffee the barista was rude and insisted I was wrong . Pancakes were uncooked. Would not recommend this place. Very disappointed.

Good breakfast and good coffee in morning, service is friendly too. Size portion of the breaky is good. Definitely worth to come back again.

Out of the blue, having parked nearby thought we'd grab a bite for a late lunch. The waitress was very pleasant a helpful. The food was fantastic and a little different to the standard fare. We also had two smoothies. Recommend the B.L.A.T with a poached egg and for something different try the Diablo fries.
The tunes played in the background was great...rnb and a lazy Sunday...what else can you want?!

From the moment I walked in I wanted to walk back out... an urge I shouldn't have fought. An awful cafe with awful decorations, unwelcoming staff and shit coffee. The food was the only thing that could have saved this place and it didnt.

Came for breakfast. Sunday morning. 11am. Staff gave us a table. We looked at menu. Went to order. "Sorry. Kitchen is closed. We've run out of food" RUN OUT OF FOOD?!

WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?! What is WRONG WITH THIS PLACE?!
IM HUNGRY AND ANGRY. IM HANGRY!

This place tops the charts for worst breakfast experience in my life. Where do I start, looking at the food we ordered (6 of us): coffee was absolutely terrible, poached eggs were rock hard, scrambled eggs were a grey colour, hash browns were your " no label " supermarket variety, food was cold, lemon wedges were 2 weeks old by the looks.....just overall a terrible experience non edible....

Best Canadian pancakes ever!! Great coffee as well. Plenty of space to spread out here, especially if you have a stroller. This cafe is a breakfast must- do while in Phillip Island.

Great little cafe. We stopped in for a late breakfast, we had coffee's, the big breakfast and the burger.
Coffee was good, even by Melbourne standards.

The food was excellent, we will be returning next time we are down at Phillip Island.
