Review Masala Dosa - Cranbourne

Saisankar Kurup
It was a really wonderful experience to dine in at Masala Dosa, in Cranbourne. We, as a family enjoyed the night and dinner. I was amazed how my kids were fond of the taste which we felt authentic South Indian. The place was quite busy, most people taking away. It was a Sunday night, of course, but as we waited to be served, having seen the number of orders they delivered within that short span had given us a heads up about how delicious the food would be. And when it arrived, our hopes weren’t in vain at all. We were also impressed by the calm and non-judgmental approach and attitude of the man in the counter. The taste of the food took us to nostalgic memories of South-Indian food courts ! It was good value for the money for us.

Go-to place for authentic south indian food in Melbourne. Sambar (yellow lentils cooked with tamarind and a dash jaggery along with other spices) is the closest to the taste of sambar you would get at an Udupi restaurant in India. We always start with idli and vada dipped in sambar followed by different dosas every time. Cheese chilli garlic dosa has precise amout of ingredients and it is one of my favourites. Also, tried veg thali (only on the weekends between 11am and 3pm) recently and loved it absolutely. Rassam was ❤️. Staff is friendly. Service is usually good though can get sluggish during busy times. Highly recommended.

My family eats here at least twice a week! The idli is seriously the best in the south east! Their butter chicken is flipping amazing too! So many delicious dishes I could recommend. The place is often busy around 7pm onwards but worth the wait. No other Indian restaurant in Casey compares to the tasty food of Masala Dosa however they could do with a restaurant makeover. Don't judge the place based on their decor, try the food. It's delicious!

Great place to have South Indian food. Loved the varieties and very authentic in taste. Would have given 5 star, if not for the limited dine in place. Take away packaging is neat and cold proof. Make sure you take away to reach early on weekends. Gets really busy during weekends. But worth it !!!!!!

Great food and been consistent over years. I have seen them attempting to improve dine in and customer experience over the years. Meals are priced optimally and quantity is just right. Sambhar is good enough for us not minding to pay extra for more servings. Keep up the good work guys !!!

We have recently ordered vegetarian food with Masala Dosa for a function. The food was tasty and appreciated by everyone😋 This is one place I would recommend for consistent quality, taste, and customer service. We have also visited the restaurant a few times and got amazed with delicious north and south indian food.

I love the Lamp curry Dosa and Chicken & Egg fried rice. Price is reasonable and place is closer to my work place. Good service and well maintained

We heard about this place from a friend and gave it a shot. My friend had recommended chicken 65, chicken fried rice. I forgot and ordered chilli chicken, fried rice and lamb curry.<br/><br/>If you know what is indo-chinese then you will like the fried rice. We liked it definitely and the quantity was enough. Chilli chicken was delicious, again Indian style obviously. But we weren't happy with the lamb curry. The curry tastes thin and watery, probably should have been cooked longer.<br/><br/>But we liked the fact that there weren't too much of oil in the food. The restaurant is quite a ordinary place so good for daily food and take away but not recommended for an occasion.<br/><br/>We are ordering again.

Went here on a friend's recommendation and were not disappointed.  Excellent Paratha - light, fluffy and tasty - and very good curries.  We had butter chicken and a lamb curry with rice.  Lots of meat and great tasting curry sauce.  <br/>Situated on the edge of an industrial estate but don't let this persuade you from trying the food here,  Traditional South Indian fare and very well priced.  Our meal was $32 for two people.

Cheap and delicious food, we go almost every week. Its sometimes a bit grubby but we keep coming back so you know the food is amazing. Its less than $30 for both of us

Absolutely amazing dosas! They are fresh and crispy and accompanied by great side dishes with heaps of flavours and chilli! Can be really busy at times but 100% worth it! So well priced as well which is a bonus! Service and the restaurant itself needs work

Best dosa in Melbourne. No question. Fresh, crispy and tasty. Service is pretty average, but still worth it. Have it fresh - Never takeaway because that destroys the crispness..
