Review La Manna And Sons Espresso - Cremorne

It was very busy in the morning though the coffee was boiling hot! 😱the atmosphere is very very nice but if you prefer family owned Melbourne kinda coffee probably this is not the best place. Food looks very yummy!

Stopped in for breakfast and a couple of coffees and I was not disappointed. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly, the portion size of the toast was sufficient and the sides of half avocado, halloumi and has brown were tasty. Only critique is that the has brown is the frozen kind, so I might give it a miss in future but definitely will try the rest again. Ordered a long black and it was hot and not too bitter with a lively aftertaste.

I buy takeaway from all my local eateries to support small business, but this is the last time I step foot into LaManna & Sons Cremorne. I was just charged $16.50 for a cauliflower salad that was 3/4 full. It was literally filled with spinach, it was light as a feather as it was passed to me. I was seriously slugged ! During lockdown I was in there regularly to buy their chicken:broccoli salad. I was impressed to see these pre packaged salads with a reasonable price tag of $10, all the meal boxes were filled equally and you could see what you were paying for . One day during lock down I purchased a chicken sandwich that was on display wrapped in clingwrap. I took a bite and spat it out, the bread was like cardboard. Times may have been tough and selling day old sandwiches , I’m ok with that but please advise that it would be better toasted! And if it’s not day old well there is a product issue . I love having all eateries at my door step and to keep them here I support them all, but today was the last straw for me. The staff are always pleasant but don’t like the inconsistency . There are other food venues in the area that offer value for money. So I won’t be back ✌

Wow, what a great space. Great bacon and egg muffin for a delicious breakfasty brunchy snack. Lovely coffee and nice friendly staff. 1st time visit and will definitely be back.

A pretty cool find in Cremorne! This cafe was buzzing even though it’s tucked away in a little alleyway. Definitely caters to many who work around the area. Plenty of food and take away options. The atmosphere was nice with music playing and the decor was a mix of modern, glam and old school! Somehow it works. I had a chai latte that was watery and super bland and a slightly burnt ham and cheese croissant. I could see that they were slightly short staffed so I didn’t bother to give feedback. I wasn’t in a hurry and working on my laptop so I decided to order a soy latte which was good. So this experience has been a little bit of a hit and miss for me.

Best place to eat in Cremorne. Food ok service fast. Not a fan of QR code ordering. Order at counter. Specials. Are great soups perfect.

Worked around the corner from this place for 3 months, loved their smooth & creamy Oat latte. I wish they would just do coffee Loyality cards though😕.

Absolutely delicious food and coffee and had boutique pantry. Loved it

They are great. But their coffee on Mon-Fri tastes a lot better than weekends....how comeđŸ€”

I came here for lunch on Tuesday and was very impressed by the beautiful new layout and lively atmosphere. Within a few minutes of entering the store and checking out their pantry supplies I was approached by friendly staff member. I ordered the salmon with salad and couldn’t fault it, the fish was fresh and cooked wonderfully, a simple and light meal perfect for any lunch! The meal was also served extremely promptly which is always a plus considering how busy the cafe was at the time. I’ll certainly be back :)

Always have the most amazing experience here! Most friendly staff, best coffee and of course the food is so fresh and always so much to choose from! Don’t know what I’ll do for the next 4 days over Easter. Already looking forward to Tuesday morning!!

Asked for a breaky wrap without bacon, said they would make it fresh. Noticed a bit of movement around the Sandwich press. Got my breaky wrap, and saw that it had been ripped opened. Asked again just to confirm if it was made without bacon, or if they had accidentally made it with bacon and decided to sneakily take it out. They assured me it was made fresh without bacon, and they just opened it up to have a peak as to double check. A few bites later and I notice a large piece of bacon. If they had just told me they accidentally made it with Bacon, I would of been fine...mistake happen. I would of just left it behind as I had to rush back to work, it's only a few dollars so I wouldn't even sweat over a refund. However I double checked with them and they decided to lie which is really disappointing. This was once a fairly regular spot for myself, however I won't go back again. There are a few other members of our office who have also had some bad service in the past, so I think this was the nail in the coffin for a few of us.

Quirky looking family business and you can definitely tell... I got my first coffee here when they first opened with their coffee window, have been going ever since. Always grab a chia pudding and coffee in the morning. Lunch is always exciting and the salads are so yum and fresh. Definitely not your average cafe, always have an option for if I’m feeling healthy or just want to pig out on a crispy chicken. Highly recommend this little place !! :)))

Very disappointing. Ordered the large salad to take away ($12 - with two salads in the one container).  The serving within the container was inconsistent - my colleague's was packed full to the lid, mine wasn't.. Also one of the salads was an amazing looking grilled peach salad (that was overflowing with sliced peaches in the serving dish).  I ordered it however not one slice of peach managed to make it into my takeaway container.  Thinking that the training of staff to serve meals consistently is required.
The Truth About Food
These look like the same size coffee’s right? Wrong! <br/><br/>The one on the left is a $5 large coffee and the one on the right is a $4 regular coffee. My colleague and I compared and though I paid $1 more than we got the exact same size coffee. Disappointing LaManna

Have been visiting this cafe for about 12 months. New owners have taken over in the past few months and have completely revamped the place - better coffee, healthier and more diverse food options, and great vibe.<br/><br/>Definitely worth a visit if you live or work in Cremorne/Richmond.

New owners, new fresh look/feel and new menu! This place is awesome! Coffee by Allpress. We had the prosciutto focaccia, health bowl, muffin & espresso. It was All really good, tasty, well presented and fast. The service was friendly. Will return when I'm in the area again.

Espresso 3121 is hard to miss if you haven't been here before, but it makes it that much more exciting when you stumble upon it.<br/><br/>I haven't had the coffee so I can't comment on that, but I have had their freshly squeezed orange juice and assorted wraps and baguettes, all toasted of course. It's nothing too out of the ordinary, but they have been tasty nevertheless and that equals to a win in my books. There's also a menu to try and I haven't had the chance to experience yet, that's on my food to-do list (or is that to-eat list?).<br/><br/>The staff always greet me with a smile and has a nice welcoming vibe to it when you sit down. You feel a little hip. During the morning, it can get extremely busy, but which café doesn't?<br/><br/>There's plenty of room to sit down, so it's a good option if you're in the area.

Great food (especially the burgers!), Great service, and environment. Pretty good coffee too. With a light, airy, roomy venue, and friendly staff.
HungryRick
Superb coffee and service from excellent wait staff and barrista. Simple food ideal for takeaway breakfast and lunch. Chia bowl is refreshing, wraps are filling

I've recently moved into the area and have now had enough coffee from Espresso Cafe to be able to confidently say it has excellent consistent quality in its long black. Service at the counter is always friendly. I generally don't grab one on the way to work if I'm in a huge hurry, but I don't mind the fact that there is a short wait otherwise. I'm looking forward to trying a few items off the menu as they sound good and reasonably priced. I'll be sure to add a more detailed review once I have.

This cafe used to have fast, great service, Lately the barristas are slow, have screwed up my order on numerous occasions, although the coffee blend is tasty. The milk is often cold. <br/>We order for our business and its embarrasing to be giving clients the wrong coffee order on a weekly basis.<br/>The place isnt is busy half the time, the staff are too busy standing around and wiping down a clean bench to bother with making decent coffee.<br/>I hope the manager sees this and realises how much business they are loosing. Way to many decent cafes in the area to bother with this place

Great little hidden cafe off the busier Church St. Went here for a client meeting and their coffee was really good. It's a perfect spot for a quieter meal or if you need to catch up with someone.

I work in the next street from this cafe and grab my morning coffee for the last 2 years. The new chef is fantastic and extremely passionate about his menu and food! I order a toasted sandwich and the chef takes the initiative to add basil. Excellent touch! I'm on a mission to try EVERYTHING on the menu- breakfast and lunch. The burgers and salads are great and they have quick service too. Reasonably priced and excellent service. Will definitely be grabbing my lunch from Espresso Café from now on. Keep up the great work!
Hide And Seek
Proving that not only great city cafes are tucked away down alleys, Espresso 3121 is slotted in nicely amongst a maze of offices and storage spaces in Richmond. Along with soups, cakes, slices and sandwiches (you must try the tuna melt!), there is, of course, excellent coffee made by baristas trained on site.

Jumbo coffee brought me back. I'm a local (work area) and basically need a decent coffee during my work week to get me through. With many places to choose from this place was my regular years ago. Through many change of hands and a few years later I'm back as I found out they serve jumbo take away coffees. I have ordered 2 in the past week and have been extremely happy each time. I'm happy to pay $5 and the staff are lovely, I'm happy and will be back again, regularly. Oh and my coffee card still works so that was a plus :)

Love It. Go there every working day. Coffee and food is great.

Nice little local. Good coffee, friendly service and trendy interior. Burger was big and very tasty

Great coffee and super friendly staff. Great atmosphere too, my favourite place for meetings. Food is quite expensive and not as good as you would expect for the price, but still a great spot.
My Taste Verdict
Has 3121 changed owners? The menu has been slashed, there's hardly anything to choose from now, the premium farmers market grade ingredients have gone missing as well and replaced with cheaper crappy supermarket produce (yet the prices remain very steep!) just really disappointing lately. This place used to be amazing, but now it's average. You can't cut corners and continue to charge huge prices. Unfortunately wont go back to eat. Coffee is still good. Oh and don't drink the water out of the glass bottles, it's disgusting! Maybe the bottles need cleaning? Not sure what is going on there but the water makes me gag!
Tasty
Surprise about some negative feedback when us customers see new faces, I've given them a go as others will an I'm happier than ever, faster service on coffee than before an more interactive with staff as some old faces didn't talk to me. I'm all for change as long as its a good change. All I can say is try out the new espresso 3121 for yourself. <br/>Hot tip is, ask for there single origin coffee by Axil coffee yummo

This place used to be my favorite hang out! Great food, Amazing Coffee, nice staff, colorful atmosphere... But the last few weeks have been the opposite... Have they changed owners?? The coffee was burnt, they've changed the coffee machine, the staff and even some of the menu... It's just not the same. I never used to mind paying a bit more for my lunch here but now I begrudge it due to its downhill spiral. I trust that others who work in the area will agree... It used to be great... Now it leaves a bad taste in my mouth :-(

Don't bother ordering the soup today. Today's soup on the menu was 'Chorizo , Chickpea & Parsley'. Was charged $13 (take-away) and was VERY disappointed with what I got. The soup was watery with only a few , to be precise 4 chick-peas floating in it. The rest of it contained big chunks of tinned tomatoes and I presume yesterdays minestrone soup leftovers. Felt very ripped off and certainly won't be wasting my money here!

Funky little place with one of the best coffees I've had in a long time. Well done.

Great coffee + amazing fresh food= espresso 3121. Where do I start with this amazing espresso bar? Coffee was by far the best I have had in a long time. They take there coffee here serious in a (non snobbish show off way) if you know what I mean. They really know what they are talking about and there passion shines through there staff. Everyone is friendly and you can pick out the dedicated regulars that love the vibe and friendliness of this unique space filled with quirky milk bottle vases and fresh herbs in all nooks and crannies. The food is like there board dictates ' fresh, simple and homemade' and you couldn't be more spot on with the description. It's the best priced in the area by far which makes it affordable everyday for brekkie or lunch. Get in early though cause come lunch time your pushing it to find a spot for lunch. There burgers are served on a wonderful brioche roll and are packed with fresh ingredients. The chicken schnitzel roll is out of this world good, probably should be known as the home of the schnitzel roll as put by a regular sitting close by. Salads are wholesome and incredibly healthy and fresh. There brown rice salad finished in a orange and lemon dressing and organic quinoa salads are stand outs of the range but cant go passed the very popular tuna and avocado salad and organic wholemeal penne pasta salad topped with bright yellow free range eggs. All in all espresso 3121, you have made me very happy... wouldn't go anywhere else!!!

Love it, but.... I love 3121. Really, I do. I'm in there at least two or three times a week buying coffee or lunch. But I just had the most depressing experience there today and now... I'm afraid to show my face there!<br/><br/>My usual order is either the smashed avocado on toast (no butter, as I can't eat dairy) or the chicken salad. Both are usually awesome. Today I opted for the smashed avocado and requested no butter, as usual. Keep in mind my food service days are not long behind me, so I'm never anything but smiley and polite to the staff - I know they are under the pump.<br/><br/>So I chalked up what I received to an honest mistake: smashed avocado on sourdough toast that was literally dripping with butter. I thought it might have been olive oil so I took a bite, but it was unmistakeable - definitely butter. I apologised to the nearest waitress and explained that I'd asked for no butter, for the reason stated above. She was totally apologetic and understanding and took my plate back to the kitchen.<br/><br/>About 5 minutes later, I received a plate of smashed avocado with no butter - the toast well and truly burnt all around the edges and partially into the middle. I've never before received burnt toast at 3121. I'm paranoid, I know. But I felt like a statement was being made by the kitchen - don't send back your food! I ate it because I already felt bad as-is sending the plate back once, which as a rule I never ever do... and this is why.<br/><br/>I'll probably end up going back to 3121, as I love the food and coffee there. But this disappointing experience has definitely put a dampener on my enthusiasm for the place.

A Hidden Delight. I discovered this cafe one week when i was working with my boss at a local warehouse in Cremorne. I only knew about it cause i saw the sign on the corner of the alley way and the street. First i just got a few coffee's there which my boss and i thought were great then we went there for lunch one day and it was fantsastic. The atmosphere was different to anything i have ever seen as other users have written with like a coffee station in the middle of the cafe with at least 2 or 3 guys making coffee non stop and the food prepared behind the counter. The cafe was very busy and you could just tell it was one of the best in the whole area. I ordered the chicken schnitzel sandwich on sourdough bread with chilli mayo. Quite simply it was the BEST schnitzel sandwich i have ever had and i loved the way it was served on like a wooden board. I can't wait to go back there and take my girlfriend with me next time.

Alice in Tigerland. It was as though I’d seen a rabbit run through Richmond and I chased it, creeping through Cremorne, down the rabbit hole that is the backstreets of the City of Yarra. This has happened before: I’ve been somewhere, drinking something, and somehow found myself in a place somewhat wonderful. But I could never remember how I got there.<br/>This is the route to Espresso 3121. Take laudanum, turn three times and wander. <br/>Inside is a mixture of industrial chic and someone’s kitchen. Wooden tables, brick walls and metal everywhere else; the coffee machines are in full view, like an Arabica Teppanyaki bar. The only problem, then, is the ratio of empty space to people – not very high.<br/>Great coffee, interesting food and people who think they’re cooler than cool – this is what epitomises Melbourne. If only we could get rid of the cookie-cutter non-conformists, it would be caffeine utopia.

Chilli Chicken Sandwich YUM. I am craving one right now! Wish I worked in Richmond so I could go there every day for lunch.<br/>Great coffee, awesome chicken salad too. Soup is always delicious and staff are awesome too.<br/>Maybe i can ask my boss to move our office? sigh.

Chicken chilli cheese melts. Where do i start? the menu is huge, there's so much to choose from in such a tiny cafe. tiny, busy and wonderful. the industrial chic of this hidden gem is definitely a beehive of activity early morning and lunchtimes. each time i'm in richmond working, i do indulge in their open grilled chicken and chilli cheese sandwich which is a heart stopper, but fabulous. if you happen to have skipped breakfast, you can try their breakfast smoothie which has milo, peanut paste, museli, honey and milk all blended into the yummiest smoothie as a meal. such a great combo. check out this little place, it's very cool and everything they serve or have to take away is fresh and delicious.

Morning fave. Definitely the best coffee in Richmond. Fun, funky vibe up a quiet laneway off Balmain St. Friendly staff, great simple menu if you are feeling peckish - schnitzel sangers, salads, etc. Usually a few different options for beans - single origin, blend. Just wish they opened on weekends!

Morning glory. Espresso 3121 is my all time favourite spot for coffee - it is always spot on - no bitterness, nice and smooth, and just the right strength for a morning wake up call! Eamon, Alan, Jess and the rest of the staff here are always super-friendly and efficient, even when the line is winding out the door and around the corner. Also, they make delicious tomato and Vegemite on toast! Hooray! The smiles from the guys at Espresso 3121 and the delicious coffee definitely put a bit of sunshine in my day! Definitely head in next time you're in the area!
The Fish Man
Fantastic place, great atmosphere and very friendly. Love the twitter feed on a big screen

One of the best coffees in richmond. Definitely one of the best coffees around but go in a non-peak time. simple and good food. it's an espresso bar so don't try to get too comfy.
Dumplings For Breakfast
Favourite Morning Coffee. I have tried many cafes around the area and this is definitely the best place to get my morning coffee. Problem is, I think everyone else is starting to realise this too, as the line can be out the door by 8:30am! But the staff are lovely and get through the morning rush as quickly as possible. Also try their amazing muffins which change daily and the ham and cheese croissants if you are peckish.

Fantastic !!. This is a place that takes is coffee seriously but not in a snooty kinda way
the staff there is chilled out and friendly and the food is great quality .. and being barista myself (aka a very fussy coffee drinker) I can safely say they are one of the best in Melbourne !! if you haven't been there your missing out on some really good coffee and Cajun chicken sandwiches !

Excellent coffee. Yum coffee and quality foods. if only it was open on weekends....

Espresso 3121. Tucked away down a side street in Richmond (suburb might actually be under cremorne if you are using GPS) Set in a light filled high celing'd room with funky red car mechanic lights hanging over the tables. Long share tables and a few separate ones. Good coffee and selection of Teas - try the Melbourne Breakfast Tea. Fave dish is the tuna melt!<br/>Enjoy!

Scour Richmond’s laneways long enough and you’ll discover a hidden gem making a splash in Melbourne’s third wave coffee set. After taking a seat in the industrial style espresso bar you’ll arguably drink one of Melbourne’s finest coffees. We certainly did.
MEL: HOT OR NOT
Espresso 3121 is a little tucked away cafe in the middle of warehouse-bounded Richmond. It's not easy to find but it's testament to its good quality food (and presumably excellent coffee, given its name) that it was a jumping little joint during the weekd
