Review Bean And Barrow - Creswick

After a historical tracking along the town I stopped at this cafe and doing some drawing. Cappuccino and Lamington cake were fantastic. But the dunny or toilet was a bit old and scary. The cleanliness of the toilet was alright just a little refurbishment would help. I would come back again.

Staff were friendly and some gluten free options but far too expensive for what it was. Food was very, very ordinary. My hash browns were those small triangles you buy in the frozen aisle. 3 small overcooked sausages with a mountain of overpowering onion. Scrambled eggs were overcooked. My espresso coffee tasted like tar. It was really dark & cold inside. Things would have to improve significantly to return. Liked the artwork on the walls & chooks out the back.

Fettucini carbonara was one of the best I have tried. My wife and I had the fettucini carbonara, which was full of flavour, and cooked beautifully. It wasn't overly creamy which was good, cheese and bacon used were very tasty, and leek (I think) added a nice finish. The cappuccino was also good. You can tell the team really care what they serve. As, even our little boy's chicken nuggets and chips were of high quality, from the wedges instead of the normal chips you get, and chicken wasn't the typical low quality chicken nuggets that are normally served up for children's meals. If it is a nice day, I recommend sitting outside in the garden upstairs out the back of the cafe. It is quiet with some hens and rooster that add to the atmosphere. Thanks team for a very enjoyable lunch. We will be back for dinner one evening.

Drinks came out one at a time with big gap between $6.00 milkshake in a medium size glass was overpriced and more like flavoured milk. Ran out of hash browns but never said anything until asked where it was forgot the spinach on their signature dish when asked said oh was it supposed to have spinach. The dish was extremely dissapointing canned 3 bean mix and chick peas with a tin of tomatoes mixed in, untoasted toast which was a soggy mess, poached eggs were hard and one was totally broken with hardly any yolk at all whole meal was tasteless and they never bothered to ask why I didn't eat it don't think I will bother again

Jelly slice inedible - like rubber and couldn't be cut. Coffee andcwalnut slice---still looking for the coffee. Coffee ok. Think they are new owners - they have big boots to fill. Price reasonable. 32C, doors were open, flies were inside and there was no aircon.

There is really nothing to like about this place. The staff were rude, very very rude, and thats okay i thought if the food was good. It wasnt, in fact it was terrible. There is no way they can have a professional chef here, it was disgraceful. Certainly THE LAST place to eat in Creswick. I do not know how these people stay in business. Seems like the staff manipulation and article in Ballarat newspaper about them is correct. Horrible business. I googled the business to see other reviews and found they dont even pay their staff.

Not a good visit to a usually good Cafe. Heating was almost non-existent existent for a cold day, some food was not fully cooked.
