Review Montien Thai Kitchen - Cronulla

I've been here twice and both times the food has been amazing. The portions are perfect, the veggies are fresh, the chicken is cooked perfectly and the sauces are tasty. Every other Thai restaurant I've been to, the food is either full of sugar, the veggies taste old or the chicken is dry from being overcooked. This place is the complete opposite and is my go-to Thai restaurant now.

Fried Soft crab salad is a must , so crispy and dressing is perfect. Prices are reasonable.

The moment we sat down, the lady that greeted us was not happy. I ordered stir fry crispy pork / PAD PRIK KING CRISPY PORK. The vegetables and rice were good but the pork had an off after taste that was very porky and unfresh. I tried to ignore it until my third bite but i couldn't take to continue eating. I informed the lady that the pork had a strange taste and maybe it wasn't cleaned well. She gave me a lecture that their pork is always clean and pork in Australia is different from other local countries specifically Asia and suggested with a mix of sarcasm that i should not order pork. I was surprised on how angry and rude she was. I apologized about assuming the pork was not clean but i said that i don't know why but there was a strange after taste and that is how i felt. I took it as miscommunication but was still in shock that i nicely told her my problem and she was very angry and unapologetic. She did not charged me with my order because i demanded a refund and although she did it, she was sort of throwing tantrums while doing what is expected of her. i'm never going back to this restaurant. I have been to a lot of thai restaurants across Sydney but this one i am definitely not going to even attempt to give it a second try. In conclusion all the negative reviews prolly are all true.

We ordered online, expected pickup time was 7pm but was further advised that I would be called when the meal was ready for pickup. No phone call was received by 7pm so I went to the restaurant to see how much longer it would be. The staff member had it there waiting to be picked up. The food was cold and appeared to have been sitting there for 15 minutes or more. The quality of the meal was ordinary to say the least. Needless to say I won’t be frequenting this restaurant again.

Their “Tamarind Fish” - a dish consisting of Fried Barramundi Fillet with Montien's special sweet chilli tamarind sauce, pineapple, lychee - was SO delicious that I decided to try and replicate the sauce at home. To my utter surprise, I succeeded so I now make my version (loosely based on a Thai Sweet Chilli Tamarind Prawn recipe I have) every week. But I’m a recipe-duplicating addict. Whether you are or not, I highly recommend you try this delicious dish if you’re there. I’d definitely have it again!!

Not the best Thai me and my parents ate, we ordered Chicken Cashew - Nut, Chilli - Basil With Beef, Spring - Regards, & Ginger & Shallot With Beef. My Mother's was too salty. My Father's was a bit too less salty. And mine was perfect! But even with all the ups and downs I found the interior design was quite nice. And the toilet was clean. I and my family give it a (3/5) cause not the best food you can find but ok.

Being to your restaurant multiple times and loved it till today! Never had any complaints…. But for today's order, which we have just picked up, turned out to be disgusting! Everything in our order was stale, from rice and cari to vegetables and seafood. There is a very strong feeling that all the products were from yesterday. We couldn't eat them and threw out the whole order. Highly disappointed!

Amazing thai food, highly recommended.. good vibes only ;-) I had green curry with coconut rice, and it was super yummm!!!! Loved the ambience and friendly staff!!
