Beautiful meal. We went as a treat on Mother's day when there was a $70 menu for three courses and it was a full house. My wife greatly enjoyed a quail entrée and I had a mushroom soufflé. Both outstanding. For mains I had a duck cassoulet and my wife salmon and we both had crème caramel for desert. The meals were superb. The house wines also remarkably good, we had a glass each for $9 per glass. Our kid had a sirloin from the kids menu and a Nutella crêpe. First class meal and will definitely go again but not on a night when the only option is the full three course menu. It was simply too big a meal for us. We want to select from the à la carte menu next time. The only complaint came from our child who doesn't like chocolate ice-cream and was not expecting it on his crepe. Go figure :-)
It was suggested to try this restaurant on our visit to Crows Nest this weekend from the Hunter Valley. Well, we are glad we took their advice. We had the 8 course degustation with matching wines and it didn’t disappoint. The food was incredible, my favorite the scallops , and the wines served with the dishes, not surprisingly, matched perfectly. Staff were extremely knowledgeable with the wine selections, friendly and attentive and we would not hesitate recommending this restaurant to anyone looking for a French experience to remember. Merci
Fantastic venue, awesome food and charming staff. Worth a visit and a reminder of how delicious the French experience can be.
We dined at Le Bouchon last Saturday night for the first time and we absolutely loved it. We had the 6 course degustation menu ($100) with matching wines ($30) and each dish was excellent. The stand-out dishes for me were the scallops, the confit duck leg and the chocolate fondant (all pictured). We also ordered the blue cheese soufflé which was outside of the degustation menu as we had heard it was a must try and it was outstanding. The matching wines for $30 is exceptional value and the waiters are generous with their pouring.
Lastly, the staff are absolutely delightful and you feel like you are having dinner in a bistro in France. It’s a gem of a place! #lebouchon #bistro #frenchcuisine
A charming French bistro! Big space and able to accomodate large or small groups. Waiters were friendly and very thoughtful. We ordered the truffle mushroom soup to start and said we would be sharing it and it came to the table already divided into individual portions. The duck was perfectly cooked and paired perfectly with a sweet sauce.
We has escargot for starter, bouillabaisse for entree and rabbit and pork for main. Escargot was a wonderful surprise. The bouillabaisse was AMAZING. Rabbit and pork was average. Im definitely planning to go back and have the bouillabaise as a main. Price is ok, little on the exp side, but I'd say one of the best french restaurants I know in Sydney.
We were waiting for some friends and it took us a while to order after we have been seated. The wait staff was very patient and didn't' mind. I ordered a Lychee Sublime while we waited.
We ordered the platter to share for 2 - 2x meat platter and a baked cheese with potato wrapped in pancetta. The baked cheese was delicious, it was quite salty but was perfect with bread. I ordered mussels for main, there were 3 different flavours and I chose the one with white wine, shallot and thyme. It was served with fries which was different. Serving with bread would have been better to soak all the juices. Nevertheless, the mussels were cooked well and I enjoyed it.
This is a great place for regional French food. Staff are friendly and always willing to help with choices. Ive been several times and will certainly be going back.
Brunch hour, surprise that they are open & have a breakfast menu. Being meaning to come try them for dinner. Their breakfast menu sounds simple but yet so inviting, omelettes, crepes, brioche, French Toasts, eggs & what you expects a French cafe to have. I tried the La Bouchon French crepes, well made thin crepes served simply with mixed berry compote & mascarpone cream, with a sprinkle of almond flakes on top. Nothing fancy, yet tasty & satisfying. Will be back to try their dinner menu.
Amazing dinning experience, great food. Everything was great. Good for dinner or any occasion for that matter, really grateful for the opportunity. Well done.
It was a Saturday night and we were browsing around a place close to North-Sydney to have a dinner and we found this french restaurant on Crows Nest. The street where this restaurant is located is quite busy and it's not easy to find a place to park, so we had to find a car parking somewhere on parallel roads not too far from the place.
The place was not full when we arrived and we sit close to the door. We had a grilled duck, a grilled fish with white sauce, a creme brûlée and a chocolate cake with sorbet. The duck had a a crunchy skin and was very well cooked inside. The fish was cooked to perfection and had a white sauce to die for, it was absolutely fantastic. The creme brûlée had a very hard shell and was very creamy and flavored. I think theres some room to improve on the chocolate ganache cake on the texture and flavor but it was not bad at all.
We enjoyed the overall experience we had on this place and we strong recommend it if you are looking for a fine dinning or romantic environment on Crows Nest or close surroundings.
We enjoyed dinner here tonight. We started with a complimentary appetiser of escargot. Entrees we chose the seared scallops (quite small) and the French Onion Soup (a little bland). Thing improved with the mains which were the duck and the barramundi with clams. Both mains were lovely however I wasn't too sure about the combination of Barramundi & clams. Probably didn't need it but instead vegetables or similar.
The wine was a 214 Sancerre which was wonderful.
Service (all French) was great albeit under the pump. Will definitely return.
