Best coffee in town. Eggs Benny has never failed. Nicest breakfast ever. Great friendly staff to go along with great coffee and breakfast.
Great little Cafe. The staff were friendly and the coffee was well made. Not a huge fan of Genovese coffee but they did the best with it. The process is order and pay at the counter which really slows things down but again the staff were brilliant and made up for it.
We had a lovely coffee and fig and orange cake
Great friendly staff a nice place
Good coffee, great food!! Loved every meal I have had. Please bring back the pork belly salad hehe. So yum!!
Exceptional service by fast and friendly staff Fantastic atmosphere. OMG the eggs benedict are absolutely scrumptious!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
The food is always delicious, the coffee always hits the right spot & the staff are very attentive, friendly & accommodating. Service with a smile! I've been a regular at this cafe for over 6yrs & I couldn't fault them. Keep up the great work & amazing food guys!
Great menu, great coffee, fabulous atmosphere and wonderful staff. What more could you ask for?
What a great place, amazing food and staff, can highly recommend having a function at bekendales
Always tastes better than it looks- def a favourite local spot for breakki, brunch, coffee and cake.
Had the zucchini & haloumi fritters... They We're absolutely delicious... Lovely staff too... Thank you x
Visited the new Bekendale's yesterday for brunch and loved it. It was nice to have a coffee that wasn't 'just right to drink straight away' but that you could enjoy it while eating your food without it going stone cold! I loved the homemade crumpets with the honey and ricotta - delicious. Will be back again to sample some more of the lovely atmosphere.
Incredible food, wonderful staff and a great vibe. Love it here ❤
Great place, great coffee, smoothly and food.

Pre Croydon Cinema lunch and we couldn’t get a park on the Main Street so made our way to the cinema carpark and walked looking for an interesting eatery. Our first stop was Bekendales and with the seating outdoors being full of patrons we decided to venture inside. The interior is well laid out with booths, tables and high tables with stools.
The menu was ideal and we both liked that we could build my our own breakfast. I chose poached eggs on sour dough, potato rosti and haloumi. My daughter had just the sour dough with pulled pork, feta and rosti.
Wow. Couldn’t fault our meals. Portion size was good. Taste nice and light.
For drinks we had a chocolate shake and I had the berry smoothie.
Service was great. Staff very efficient, helpful and always with big smiles.
A refreshing addition to the Croydon dining scene.
Notes: not wheelchair accessible except if you’re dining outside. Kid friendly. Good parking at the rear of the cafe.
We have been here twice now for breakfast and I have to say it is the best breakfast around. The food is fresh, organic and absolutely delicious!!!!!
This is a beautiful little cafe with a great vibe. The corn fritters were the best I’ve ever tasted, a generous serve complete with rocket, avocado, pomegranates, tasty mayo & more. Coffee was absolutely super. Lovely friendly staff & good service. We will be back for more.
This is just about the perfect cafe. Great coffee and delicious food, with a good atmos.
Table service would make it perfect, but then that's being picky.
Came here with my son for breakfast. Reservation is a must on Saturday as it filled up really quick. They had a big sign to order at the counter. Not my preference, it’s much nicer if your order was taken by a wait staff but I guess this way everyone seated with food has already paid. Works for this establishment. I ordered the Wood Baked Salmon with Grains and my son had the Chorizo and Potato Omelette. Very well presented and delicious. My soy latte was great and not “milky”. Will come back and try their other dishes.
My favourite place to while away a Sunday morning over a delicious coffee and a hearty breakfast. The staff are fantastic and the menu is updated regularly. Go early, as it gets quite busy around mid-morning!
Great food and staff.
GF toast, feta, beetroot jam was really nice.
Being over critical, I like crispy bacon, and hollandaise needed more lemon juice.
Will be back.
What can I say... YUM
My eyes were bigger than my belly but I wanted to try the lot on the big breakfast!
After being recommended to me by friends my partner and I thought Sunday brunch would be good.
Lived up to the expectation I was given!
Ive lived in Croydon for 30 years, went to school at the old St Edmunds on Lacey street and had never really delved into the Culinary side of Main street, that changed with an RDO from work, had always heard good things about Bekendales and was yet to try it..... what have I been missing out on !!
My brother and I Both got the BBQ Pork Burger with Pineapple corn salsa, Habanero and a very generous side of Rustic Fries, accompanied by a Beer from The Local Brewery, great atmosphere and an equally great feed, will see return for their famed Breakfasts
First time here to check this much raved about cafe. Ordered the Eggs Benedict - this has an interesting twist from the norm with charred corn added and served on toasted Turkish bread. Pulled pork was tender and nice but imo, needed more flavouring. Yummy dish on the whole. Would have loved more hollandaise though. Coffee was Genovese- good beans but coffee didn't taste as strong as it should be compared with other Genovese cafes. Still good, don't get me wrong. Worth a try if you're in the area.
This was our second visit to this friendly cafe and it did not disappoint with good food and good coffee. My zucchini and haloumi fritters we’re scrumptious and my wife’s avocado dish was plentiful and yummy.
Ordering is done at the counter and there is a good ambience in the place with parking available in the street
Such friendly service! I had the coconut black rice pudding, the mango smoothie base was delicious! Great coffee too. I would definitely come here again
Have eaten here once previously to being vegan the food was pretty good. However since being a vegan i no longer eat here. But get take away coffee about once a week. The coffee here is amazing and the staff are always lovely and friendly.

When the girlies came over for a sleepover, I decided to find a local brunch spot and after a while, I saw Bekendales has been around for 9 or so years with raving reviews. So I bundled them all into the car and dashed to the cafe to for our little brunch date. It was quite cute inside, not the usual Melbourne cafes but cute nonetheless. There were outdoor seatings for those who enjoy a little fresh air and it’s not too loud either. We walked in, got a table and started to flick through the menu.
Friendly staff, good service and very cosy cafe. This cafe always make perfect big breakfast and good coffee. The meal is not small or big just right size for me.
Came to Bekendale's for a coffee and a treat, decided on the raspberry and pistachio tart / cupcake thingy. Place was packed with locals so off to a good start, staff was nice and friendly and made me an awesome cappuccino. Sat down and had the raspberry / pistachio tart / cupcake thingy and it was delicious. Really fresh, natural and tasty ingredients. Not too sweet or doughy but to quote Goldilocks 'Just Right.' :)
I threw in a nature shot because nature is beautiful :) also it was a very nice day.
LIT!: Classic Benedict never disappoints. I was so impressed by their pressed pork which broke and tore as easily as pork floss. It was succulent and bursted in flavour when dipped in the hollandaise sauce.
NOT SO LIT: I'm a soy chai latte addict and was quite disappointed as it was more watery than my liking. Also I was super excited to see potato, chorizo and cheese croquette on the menu, and when it came out, I was presented with 3 small croquettes and pretty plain salad in the middle with a poached egg. Nonetheless, the croquettes itself was full of flavour!
Thanks for having us x
A must visit in Croydon. Got the avocado/beetroot relish toast and a coffee and it was simple and goddamn delicious. I'm a fan and we'll be going back
Fantastic place to go for breakfast and lunch with a great menu for whatever you would like. Have been here both before and after the new menu was introduced and it is still just as good. Got the eggs benedict with pork belly which was delicious and probably the best eggs benedict I have ever had. My colleague got the veggie brekkie which was unique with thw feta and beetroot hommus sides but looked fantastic. Reasonably priced and the iced chocolate was delicious with ice cream and cookie crumbs in it being amazing. Definitelt one of the better breakfast places I have been to with lunch also being amazing here.
Been there almost every Sunday. The prorridge is absolutely delicious and healthy. Yesterday I was going for a 10km long walk so ordered the waffle plus the prorridge. This is the best waffle I have ever had. Way better than others in Max Brenner. The apple crumble was soooo delicious. Highly recommend these two dishes.
I love the coffee here it's a fantastic place my daughter and I always pop in and waste some time unfortunately we do not have too much food for we have some diets thank you very much
First time to the cafe and I ordered the zucchini and halloumi fritters. It was the best fritters I ever had! The outside was crispy and the inside was light and fluffy. Most fritters I had at other cafes were dense. The roasted cauliflower, quinoa and hazelnut salad that accompanied the fritters was yummy too. Portion size is average for its price. Maybe an extra piece of the fritters would make me score it 5 out of 5. Would love to try other items in the menu.

Great place for local brunch, specials board always has something delicious and the cafe staff are wonderful. Can get a bit busy at times, but worth the wait.
Great cafe in Croydon. Very busy & full of the 'hip' people. Don't wait for table service, it's all get up & do it yourself. A tad pricey, but very well worth it. I had the delicious zucchini fritters & the eggs & halloumi were wonderful as well.
Was there to have breakfast with my hubby, the food and service was greatly appreciable... thank you for helping us to have better options and suggestions. Highly recommend
These guys are simply awesome!! Chocolate milkshakes on point, salmon wrapped eggs...yes please!! They even took a phone call from me when I couldn't find the place and stepped me through. I'll be back, thank you!!!
Now I love eating here which is why I didn't give a bad score. While I appreciate the ever changing menu and presentation ideas, I don't appreciate this. I wanted an eggs benny. An eggs benny with ham and hollandaise sauce drizzled on top of the poached eggs. To be honest I wasn't really sure what this was..
Smashed avo, poached eggs, whipped feta, lime and pomegranate breaky. Absolutely Epic combination . Highly recommend this place. I will be back.
These guys rock.
Great food - actually know how to make a coffee.
Staff and Dale are so friendly. Food is reasonably fast and is always good.
Best in Croydon.
Good coffee (long black) with an almond croissant prompt service, varied seating options, friendly.now just adding a few more words to fill the 140 character review requirements
Quite a classy and swish cafe, and a cut above several others in Croydon. The interior is modern but fairly plain, with an off-white colour scheme and some dark timber panelling, suspended lighting, and some planters. A glass facade covers two sides of the building. There are booths and benches with stools, as well as fairly plain table settings, and a couple of outside tables provide kerbside dining. The menu, agreeably, had a number of vegetarian selections, particularly the breakfast items. I ordered Dr Marty's crumpets with jam, which were very good, as was the coffee. It is clearly a popular cafe, as it was crowded, and very noisy, replete with the mandatory screaming child. Some commercial radio station music was barely audible above the people chatter. The service was friendly and efficient. My only minor criticisms are that one has to order at the counter (which I never like in fine dining venues - let's leave that for the burger chains), and water is not delivered to your table. I'll visit again, perhaps on a quiet weekday.
Today we have celebrated mum's 70th Birthday at her favourite café
went twice in the morning to deliver the cake and balloons, then called again to ask them to set up balloons . Staff has been really helpful nice,
THANK YOU
I love this place for breakfast. One of the best cafes in Croydon. Tasty food and decent prices. They have a large breakfast menu which is served all day. Good coffee too. Would highly recommend!
Epic veg breakfast w/ bacon. Rosti was on point👌🏽 yeowww.
2/07/16 1:40pm. Hubby and I had a late lunch here today for the first time. Service was great from all people involved. Our meals were absolutely divine! 10/10! Congrats to the chef. Hubby had the Eggs Benedict with spinach and bacon($16) and I had Quinoa with Rocket and Walnut salad served with roast lamb and pumpkin. I think we have found our new 'fav' spot! 👍🏻
Visiting friends out in the burbs, decent coffee and great food. So needed a decent cafe in this area! Staff are friendly and always busy...
Came here on a lazy mid Sunday afternoon for a late brunch and was surprised to see this place still pretty busy.
We ordered drinks first, we asked if they had iced chai lattes as we didn't see it on the menu and they said didnt but the friendly girls behind the counter said they would be able to try whip one up for us which was great! The large cappuccino here was nice and strong with a good amount of froth while the iced chai was perfect.
We ordered our go-to meals as per usual which is the eggs benidict and the big breke alternative which was the potato rosti dish which came with two poached eggs, bacon, asparagus, spinach and a side of hollandaise sauce.
The spinach in both meals was a little overpowering however the eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce had a nice tangy taste to it. The potato rosti was one of the best things on the plate as it was nice and crunchy but packed a lot of flavour as it was infused with rosemary and thyme.
Really like the layout inside with all the different seating options however the outdoor seating is pretty basic and no one was really sitting outside.
Super friendly staff and great food.
Had the smashed avocado with added smoked salmon although pricey was worth it ! Partner had the chicken burger which he said was one of the best he has ever eaten with the chicken perfectly crispy and nice slaw. However drinks were a let down at $6 the smoothie was super milky and lacked flavour.
Delicious lunch, quick service. Lovely atmosphere. The main counter is tucked away in the back which isn't too practical though. The pulled lamb sandwich was a winner!
Great cafe particularly now it's larger in size. We had breakfast here recently. Both thought it was really nice. I got pancakes with ricotta and berries. Only criticism is that there could have been more of the berries. Would definitely come back to try other items from the menu.
Had to hold myself back from licking the plate clean after finishing my Potato rosti with asparagus and poached eggs. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection too. Coffee was good, and love that they use bonsoy. Would like it if the main entrance were accessible, I'm sure there's another way people in wheelchairs can get in as there was an accessible bathroom, but would be better if they didn't have to ask staff how to get themselves inside. The majority of the staff were friendly and helpful, except for one lady that continued to treat me like a nuisance every time I approached the counter to order, but I'm hoping I just caught her on a bad day. However, if it had just been her interacting with me today I don't know if I'd come back again, as she made me feel quite unwelcome. Goes to show how much the staff can impact on the experience of a place!
Love the food and the coffee, however they are too slow in getting the drinks out. You are halfway through your meal before your drink comes
By far the best coffee in Croydon. The breakfasts are great and often have something that really sets them apart from everyone else, the dill hollandaise on the benedict is one example, and it's really good, as is the ham hock chunks (although it was a touch dried out). The only down side is that it's quite small and can be difficult to get a table sometimes.
We headed out for a coffee the next morning and went straight to Bekendales . This is a cafe we love to head to when we are in Croyden. Dale is a real character; welcoming and warm, loves his food and coffee, and he serves the normal breakfast fare with nice treats in the cabinet. The cafe is small and cosy on a cold day, air-conditioned on a hot one, and there are outdoor seats for when the weather is lovely....
Both our dishes were huge and we were both really full (I may or may not have exchanged half my pide for three-quarters of hubby's burger). We left feeling very satisfied, and I definitely would love to visit again even if we have to wait that amount of time again (but preferably not). Definitely give this cafe a go if you are around the area!
I ordered the Avocado Toast with added smoked salmon ($12.00). Smashed avocado with lime juice, sea salt and cracked pepper served on sourdough toast with a spinach and red onion salad on top. This was so good! So much avocado and the spinach salad had a delightful dressing that I would love to know the recipe of.
Excellent service and good food - good coffee too! The Reuben is everything it should be and more (from someone who likes their Reuben's and tries them everywhere he can)! Outstanding!
Loved it. Fantastic, Friendly service. Good food and a great atmosphere. Will definitely recommend to all my friends
My favourite place for brunch in the area. Great quality food and coffee and I never leave disappointed.
Great cafe!. Been to Bekendales a few times, the food is always great and the staff are friendly!
Easily the best cafe/brunch spot in Croydon Main Street, Bekendales has quickly become my go to.
Whether it be for a quick coffee or a nice breakfast/brunch I've never been disappointed.
The staff had always been friendly, the food and coffee always great and the Beetroot Relish is to die for.
Great breakfast/ lunchtime venue. Tasty food, seasoned well. Friendly staff.
Great cafe. Great coffee. Lovely fresh food. They're often busy but it's a nice place to drop by for a coffee or meal.
Fantastic avocado/feta smash. Poached egg a little over cooked but otherwise perfect. Hit the spot
Best coffee in Croydon. As a newcomer to the outer east, keen to try out all the options, Bekendales has quickly become my favourite place in town.
Best coffee hands down, speedy and friendly service, a tasty menu that changes just enough to keep things interesting and delicious crusty bread for sale. What's not to love?
A quick chat with Dale or Lisa as I order my coffee always brightens my day and also distracts me from the cake cabinet - those cakes are wickedly divine........
Where else would you want to go in Croydon for a delicious breakfast, great coffee, service with a smile and random interesting chit chat with the owner, Dale. It's our favourite local cafe.
Love the food but dislike the service. I like Bekendales. It is so tiny and cosy and has such a nice feel to it. And the food is amazing.
I just wish that they had better service and that they would stop forgetting to bring my coffee or tea. It has happened three times now.
So their customer service could do with a little overhaul, but if you want good food and can overlook some service hiccups, then I recommend that you try Bekendales. Just don't expect them to remember to bring your cup of Melbourne Breakfast Tea!
Recommended!. I've only been to Bekendales twice, but it was within the same week! A friend and I went there for lunch at her suggestion and, to be honest, I wasn't overly excited about going... But... the food is DELICIOUS, the service friendly, the wine wonderful, the coffee fabulous and the prices extremely reasonable!!! Within the same week I introduced another friend to Bekendales and he was equally impressed. The all day breakfast is always enticing as well. I recommend you try it!
Yammy food and nice staff. Definitely coming back.
Amazing coffee, tasty hot chocolate. Beautiful food and very kind and helpful staff. If only the portion size was a bit bigger.
Great little cafe, real gem of croydon. Love the vego breakfast. Parmesan n pesto make it a real hit...
A personal favourite in good old main street! Decent portion sizes and prices, and the service is always friendly and welcoming. Does get busy but i know why!
Enjoyed another great breakfast here on Wednesday. Avo toast with added poached eggs, love the zesty lemon dressing! The owner is always very welcoming and love the cosy atmosphere! Keep it up guys!
