Review Piyada Thai Restaurant - Croydon

Poor hiring recently! Love this place! The owners and staff has always been awesome. Recent experience demonstrates poor hiring when staff member(male) told me to do without rice because he could not be bothered to fill my order. Take a credit he said. I was not happy! In response, his manager sent me the rice which was required for me and my family to eat our ordered meal. His demeanour was not in keeping with the fine experience that I have experienced over a number of years! I hope that they deal with his lack lustre performance and if I have the unfortunate experience of dealing with him or another like him, I will never use this establishment again.

First time here for dinner with friends. Staffs were friendly and attentive. We ordered two entrees and a few mains to share. The vege spring rolls and curry puffs were good but a bit overpriced. For the mains, both the roast duck and the curry beef was a bit dry. The fish and the vegetables were good. Overall it’s ok.

Been coming here for years, always enjoyed quality and quantity, came last year for my anniversary walked out still hungry. Ordered take away a few days ago and my container was only just over half full..I will not be going back!!

My meal was plentiful yet disappointing. Other meals looked good. Bit noisy & slow service.

Ordered take away last night for 6 pm ans collected it. 3 mins from home. It was the worst Thai food I have ever had. It was barely warm, tasteless and very little meat in either of the stir fries ordered Never again.

Got takeaway, very disappointed. Pad thai tasteless, very little in the dish except noodles. Green curry with roast pork not great and served with stodgy rice

First time getting take away from this restaurant...I ordered Thai fish cakes ,4 tiny rubbery and tasteless not to mention cold. I live one kilometre away... ordered coconut prawns , 4 overcooked rubbery tiny and bland also cold...and Tom Yum with prawns , I knew as soon as I lifted the lid it was not anywhere near a traditional Tom Yum ...it was a grey cloudy broth with corn Spears which were Brown on the tips..limp dark broccoli half of a small raw mushroom some sliced carrots and bits of raw zucchini and three small rubbery tasteless prawns. .. will never go back. . I ate this rubbish as I was hungry and didn't think to take before photos... But did take photos of the prawn tails from the coconut prawns to demonstrate the grade of prawns used , not even the size of a peg... cost over $30 ... Very substandard ..

Highly recommend. Food was delicious, lots of choice and really quick delivery.

I find them relatively cheaper than most Thai restaurants around. Tried their stir fry with basil, pad thai and pineapple fried rice. Fried rice and stir fry are beautiful, love the taste and the sauce in the stir fry. Although I have to say the stir fry portion is rather small. They are generous with meat and seafood. The pad thai is somewhere different from other pad thai and not to my liking. It’s almost like they used different type of sauce/seasoning. Overall very happy with my dinner but yea wouldnt order pad thai from here.

Had a small take away order tonight of satay chicken which was delicious although I could not bite through the chicken as it was so dry and tough. Such a shame because the satay sauce was so delicious. I will try again one day as it might have been a once off mistake. Service was quick and friendly.

Great little Thai restaurant that never disappoints!
Friendly staff and very fresh ingredients!
Also very reasonably priced!
Pad Thai chicken is great as are all of the curries!

After a long day at the cricket yesterday cooking wasn’t on the agenda so we tried to call for Thai takeaway but our original choice was closed for the Christmas break. I ended up phoning Piyada Thai and I heard such a ruckus at the other end of the line I thought this place must be good as it’s clearly packed to the rafters.

Hubby almost went to the wrong spot for pickup as there are actually three restaurants in this chain (and I had inadvertently called one that was further away but couldn’t be bothered calling back to cancel given how noisy it was in there). Incidentally the woman kept repeating my ordered to me of prawn pad see ew as king prawn pad see ew and when I opened the container I understood why.

This was a seriously impressive dish. None of those tiny shrimp you often receive in a prawn noodle dish these were proper juicy plump prawns perfectly cooked and seven of them no less. The flavour of this was absolutely spot on too. My husbands choice was chicken pad Thai which he was also very pleased with. We have definitely found our new go to

Good quality, pretty speedy and reasonably priced Thai. Always my “go to” local. Nice for a sit down dinner but always as nice and fresh take away.
BEST Thai I’ve ever had. I have travelled far to try different Thai places and always come back to Piyada Thai which is conveniently close to home. Have never had a bad experience or meal! 10/10

I came here for a date night with my partner and was pleasantly surprised at the ambiance, food and service. Piyada Croydon is a charming, intimate little restaurant with with an unassuming, humble exterior. We ordered the massaman curry with coconut rice, pad Thai, fish cakes and curry puffs. All the food was sensational. Full of flavour and generous portions. Paired with a Shiraz; we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, the staff were so accommodating, professional and friendly. Hard to believe this restaurant was in little old Croydon North just around the corner from my house. Worth a try.

Very disappointed with Piyada Thai.
We used to go here all the time but haven't had Thai in a few months. It was very terrible quality, poor quality meat and the curries really lacked flavour.
Everything used to be really fresh and packed with heaps of different veggies. Unfortunately no longer the case.

The Piyada restaurant is a great place if your looking for Thai. They have great food and excellent service. Waiting was not an issue as our Meel arrived quickly. We highly recommend the Piyada restaurant.

Came for the extensive 'vegetarian menu' which contains shrimp paste in their curry paste.
So much for being vegetarian. Sadly I left with no vegetarian food.

best thai restaurant ever 😍 never been disappointed, food tastes delicious and the staff are always so friendly! Defiantly recommend to anyone wanting a decent meal for a good price.

Best Thai in the area. Wouldn't go anywhere else. The red duck curry is perfect every time. My friends and I meet up here at least once a month for a catch up with great food.

Reliable and consistent, authentic and fresh. The staff are friendly and welcoming. On the few occasions we've been, all tables have been full - best advertisement really!

Friendly and comfortable place, good menu, food tastes great, amazing coconut rice, many vegetarian options, will definitely come back soon!

We came with a group of 8, and took the banquet for the easy option. All courses were good (Westernised) Thai. The service was fast, friendly and attentive. The decor warm, but somewhat cramped. Overall a very enjoyable evening.

I have been here a few times, being so close to where I live and my work. The food is usually good and satisfies a thai craving and would be comparable to many other thai restaurants in the area - not amazing but not bad either. Coconut rice was quite sloppy the last time i went. Service is fine and the girls are polite. A place to go to for a casual dinner.

Consistently good place to eat, always busy. Beautiful tastes. Favorites are red duck curry, tom yum chicken, pad Thai prawn and yummy roti w satay. Beautiful Thai you won't be disappointed

absolutely my favourite place to come for thai food in melbourne! I always get takeaway so can't really comment on the place itself but whenever we go pickup they are always lovely! Pad Thai noodles and green and red curry is to die for! Best tasting thai food BY FAR! Highly recommend!

Tonight I went to Piyada Thai in Croydon as I had a quick meeting and wanted something small yet delicious for dinner. The atmosphere was authentic with reds and browns decorating the restaurant and smiles on all who worked there. After observing the menu and looking at what other people were eating I decided on the Claypot chicken.

The best Thai food I've ever had. This is my local and I love this place! It's always consistently good and I've got no complaints.

AMAZING curry puffs....and I'm not exaggerating. Food on a whole hear is really nice, fresh and fragrant- how Thai food should be. Staff are friendly and unintrucive. Can get really busy on Friday and Saturday nights so best book ahead .

Great food and service. The chicken phad Thai was delicious as was the beef phad mad manang. Satay was also nice and tasty with a unique spiciness.

A treasure in the local area. Had a delightful dinner there on Friday 14/3/2014 with 9 colleagues from work. Food was plentiful, filling, well flavoured, inexpensive and the service was quite respectable (not brilliant, but respectable).
The restaurant is a bit noisy, but when you are having fun this is to be expected.

Absolutely appalling service. Put in an order for delivery, only to have it not show up. When we questioned where our food was, the person in store said that the driver rang our doorbell (we don't have one) and because nobody answered he left the food out the front. When we told him that the driver got the wrong house we were informed that we were wrong and had received our food. After about 20 minutes of being told we were wrong with staff members laughing in the background they finally agreed to re-make the food and deliver it again. After the food arrived this time the driver proceeded to take photos of our house. I will never buy from here again and can't reccomend it to anybody.

This is great Thai food! Chicken satays were tasty, lovely fish cakes, prawn and mint salad was fresh and pleasingly spicy, massaman curry was creamy and full of flavour. Hard to fault. Good value too.

We're coming back!!. Both my wife and I loved the food, some friends told us about it a few weeks ago - we loved it and tonight we're meeting some other friends there. Fresh, good sized portions and beautifully cooked, totally thailicious. The flavours were full of life and took us back to our holiday in Thailand!
Thankyou Piyada Thai!!

What is a King Prawn?. Gang Dang with King Prawns NOT!!! How can anyone confuse a King Prawn with a baby shrimplet? 6 "King Prawns", each of them tightly coiled to the size of a 50c coin? And, of course, no prawn crunch or taste whatsoever. Why lie on the menu and claim to be using King Prawns, when it is clear that you have never ever met a genuine King Prawn? Should I pop in again and introduce you to the seriously gorgeous King Prawns which we love to eat?
Why does the steamed rice have such a diabolically foul chemical stench...as in nasty bleach stench??? We can't go back as we prefer to know exactly what we are eating, and we seriously dislike nasty chemicals, false advertising etc. etc.

Everything that comes out of the kitchen is gold... a regular customer, and never had anything less than amazing... service and decor is amazing, and always a very enjoyable night.

Terrific experience. The food served was delicious and very well presented. The staff are top quality with their service and caring manner. The food comes out at a good interval. The staff are so nice and traditional friendly manner will have us returning with friends. Food and service that you would expect in a 5 star restaurant in the city. Well done

So Good!. Been eating here a lot in the past year and their food has always been consistent. The staff are always friendly which makes the whole dining experience lovely. This is one of my favourite Thai restaurants. Their sister restaurant in Mitcham is great too.

Always eat there. I love the authentic thai cuisine. Adds flavor to maroonda highway. Lol

That this place has a higher rating than Kofi Beans lead me to believe that this would be great. Being told 15-20 mins for pickup at 7:30pm then not getting the food til 8:15 did not impress me. The food was OK but not nearly the standard of say Sweet Chilli Thai - the food eas bland and half of the container was fill with liquid. The restaurant wasn't half full and being a Sun cannot work out why the service would be so poor. Been to Thailand a few times and this nothing like traditional Thai food (which we enjoy).

Delish! Thai Beef Salad was lovely as was the Pad Satay. Was ready to pick up 10 minutes after I phoned my order in.. Perfect!

Very quick turnaround service wise. Food delicious. Takeaway does a booming business. Recommend a booking on Friday and Saturday nights!

Great curries. There are a few good Thai places in the area, but Piyada Thai are perhaps the best. The green and massaman curries are lovely, as are the stir fries. Price-wise they're a tad more expensive than Triple7 over in Mooroolbark, but we've found the curries to be more consistently good; they're on par with Thai Chaiyo in Croydon, but the servings are more generous, particularly with vegetarian dishes.

Very very nice. Nice staff, nice environment, fantastic food. Will be back again and again
Nik
Great Thai food at a reasonable price. I usually get the Panang beef curry which is cooked perfectly. Very happy with the food!

We had dinner there tonight. Great flavours, fast service, friendly staff and quite busy which confirms this place as a "keeper"...
