Review Kofi Beans - Croydon

Jessica Flavel
Came here for brunch. The menu looked great, plenty of options for vegetarians, vegans and omnis. Ordered (can't remember what it was called) a falafel on a pita with poached eggs, and lots of different flavours. Really delicious. The falafels are crunchy, perfectly cooked eggs, so really nice texturally. The dukka and pomegranate added more interest with crunch and sweetness. Good amount of food too. The price is a little high, but happy to pay that for what you get. Also ordered a salmon benedikt. Was really nice with the delicious benedikt sauce. The salmon tasted fresh and the eggs cooked perfectly. The coffee was good, tasted nice. Nothing to rave about but no complaints. My only issue was the waitress! She wasn't very friendly, and I find a friendly wait person can make a huge difference to cafe experiences. Definitely encourages customers to return. We had a few requests (to move tables once one was free - it was busy and we were placed on the community table and the seats were very uncomfortable, and new glasses as the first ones given to us were dirty), and she just seemed like we were bothering her, despite us being as polite as possible. That aside, I would encourage anyone thinking about visiting this place to go!

I called into Kofi Beans to grab a takeaway large flat white coffee, the décor is really interesting, the service was very friendly and the coffee was really nice. They have a really nice selection of food on their menu including vegan options and I have enjoyed coming here occasionally to eat in over the last few years.

I love coming here, the food is so beautiful and the staff are always wonderful. Even in busy times (which is often) they make you feel seen and heard, anytime I’m in croydon I come here and always enjoy whatever I order.
Kath
Another fantastic brunch spot ❤️ they serve up decent coffee and am in love with their white chocolate mocha. The eggs benny is a MUST TRY!! It is absolutely stellar, the hollandaise sauce was rich and creamy, topped with smokey hamhock 🤤 (am convinced that they mastered this brunch dish)…it was truly a standout! 🌟 Honourable mentions are their pita breads and dips, and their chips too! The food is absolutely divine and I can’t wait to go back for more.

Great vegan options. Had the Pumpkin salad and it was divine - every ingredient added flavour and complexity making it a delightful dish. Decor and staff were lovely as well. Will definitely be back!

Had breakfast and I can't rate their pancakes more highly enough. Vanilla pancakes with bacon are pretty darn good. Coffee is well made and the foods tasty, what more could you ask for... Oh staff are always be friendly!
Padma Lee
Excellent service. They pay quick attention to everyone coming through the door and are always warm and welcoming to everyone. Their food is delicious. Definitely a local favourite.

Car was getting serviced around the corner so came for a quick coffee. Turned out my car took a while so they were nice enough to let me plug in my laptop in and work there for the day. Lovely crew of people and great food, highly recommend.

A bit hit and miss but good enough for the suburbs.

I have visited this cafe numerous times as it's the place of choice by my friends. I have tried to order different food each time to get a true gauge of the place. I found the veggie/salad meals to be much better than the other breakfast standards. It appears that the chef can't really do a gppd smashed avo or poached egg meal well (i.e. very plain) so stick with the veggie/salad meals which are fresh and well balanced.

Just love it here, the service is very accommodating and friendly, the coffee is excellent, and the food is consistently good. One of my favorite spots to stop for brunch and it’s always busy.

This was the place my family would go when we had family breakfast. Also went with other people sometimes. It’s crazy how life just changes all the time. Like one minute I’m living in Croydon then all of a sudden I’m living out of my van because there was no room for me at home. Currently living in mount Evelyn. Coffee 7/10

Dropped in for brunch last Friday morning. Staff were very friendly and immediately placed water, glass and menu on my table and took my coffee order. The menu has a good variety of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. I chose the housemade granola with seeds, nuts and cinnamon, served with coconut yoghurt, stewed rhubarb and a poached pear. It was beautifully presented, delicious, healthy and kept me going for most of the day.

Update: two days later, went for brunch with friends and it was a totally different experience to above :( service was very slow and extremely confused. Staff had no idea which table the coffees belonged to and went from table to table asking diners. Male waiter looked like he would rather be elsewhere. Poached eggs had clear uncooked whites and mushrooms were cold. Such a different experience from two days earlier. Consistency needs to be improved.

Best coffee in town! Have come here a number of times for breakfast and coffee and enjoyed each time! The area out the back is nice to sit in on a nice day!
Thought For Food
Good variety on the menu however service is always lacking a little bit. I've been there 3 times and I never get the water I ask for and coffee comes after the food. Also think it might be worthwhile to invest in better outdoor setting as it's often unstable and not the most comfortable. Not a bad option for breakfast though.

Kofi Beans seems to be the place to go in Croydon on a Sunday. Situated on Main Street there’s a true local cafe vibe to this family owned venue. While the rest of Croydon was enjoying a fairly sleepy Sunday, Kofi Beans was packed to the rafters...

One of the nice place in Croydon to have a Brunch. Food was amazing. Very attentive staff . Super fast, friendly service. We will definitely come back..
highly recommend

I used to love this cafe, however my experience today will not have me stepping foot in there again!! Nothing wrong with the drinks I purchased. Arrived at 3pm on a Sunday and was told no more food - that’s ok as we only wanted drinks anyhow. However 10 mins after ordering the staff proceeded to pack up so our experience was marred by chairs crashing onto the top of the tables - the hoover going, complete with very loud music booming out. I checked before i went and the website states it was open till 4.30pm on a Sunday - really?????? Disgusting behaviour to a customer, they took our order but nothing said that they would be packing up and closing!!
Ryan
Good coffee. Seems empty from the outside but is busy inside! Good feel about it and seems a popular sit down lunch spot. Could possibly do with an extra staff on to help the girls.
Jaime
I have been here about 5 times now and always impressed with coffee and food. The portions are always big and always great quality. They also change the menu up frequently. Awesome to see they have lots of vegan options as well!

Also- the staff that work there are always so lovely and it’s great service. I could come back again and again and never get sick of this place!
Good Food Good Mood
We were invited to Kofi Beans on the weekend, a space that impressed from the outset. I loved the middle eastern style decor, very unique for a cafe interior and not only did it really differentiate the place it created a fabulous atmosphere.

I took the opportunity to try a blueberry latte, never having seen one on a menu before. The flavour was quite subtle when compared to other speciality lattes but they also offer taro which is one of my favourites you can’t get everywhere so I would recommend trying that. The drinks menu was very well rounded from Turkish coffee to Vietnamese iced coffee to shakes and juices and everything in between. A couple next to us were also sitting and enjoying a bottle of wine.

Food wise we went with one of the specials breakfast bruschetta with roast tomatoes, feta, roquette, beetroot pesto, poached eggs and sweet balsamic on Turkish pide. I liked this dish but it wasn’t what I expected. Bruschetta conjured images to me of diced tomatoes with balsamic atop it. I didn’t find the balsamic on the plate and the two tomato halves were on the side of the plate. The feta was also on the salad rather than the bread but the eggs were perfectly poached and the beetroot pesto extremely delicious.

My husband had the fritter dish and I tucked into the waffle meringue pie which was one of the best waffle dishes I’ve had. The lemon curd and torched meringue were ingenious toppings and the berry injectors gave the presentation further pizzazz and also added another flavour dimension. I was also impressed with their extensive vegan menu. Suffice to say this suburban cafe vastly exceeded my expectations.

Upon entering this cute café I fell in love with the interior , the light fixture looked like lanterns and the café was bedazzled with silver hardware and mirrors which created a nice open atmosphere.

We decided to opt for a nourish bowl, baked eggs and a lemon meringue as a sweet to end the meal. The nourish bowl with added chicken was a nice surprise as it was extremely flavoursome. Usually with this , we order it for health and compromise on the taste however with this one , my partner and I were constantly fighting over this bowl! The cauliflower rice had bags of flavour and the chicken was well seasoned

The baked eggs was another nice surprise as it was more like a stew, there was no tomato base which is the usual baked egg flavour combination you would get at other cafes. Adding pulled lamb with this made this a winner for me ! I also love how buttery the bread they served alongside the dish was

The Lemon Meringue waffle came out and it was as pretty as a picture, the curd was smooth and very tart which I liked, the meringue was soft and did not stick to the roof of your tongue. This was a great end to our Brunch and we found that it was also not too sweet

Thankyou Kofi Beans for having us !
BlueBelle
Been here a few times. Very nice breakfast. Beautiful coffee. Always a favourite. Additionally, came here on a busy mother’s weekend without a reservation and they accommodated myself and my partner!
Jeng
A cute cafe with excellent coffee and food that leaves you feeling full! Have been here on a few occasions and the staff have been nothing but lovely every single time. Will definitely keep coming back!
Foodie4Melb
These guys do a good coffee, can't comment on the eat in food as I haven't tried that yet. The lemon yoghurt cake I had was super moist and yum 🍋
Take away coffee beans are also handy.
Interior could do with a bit of an update.
V!CK!
Had coffee here today with a friend. Was greeted and offered menus and water within a minute of sitting down. Only ordered coffee today but it was nice, the cafe has changed and no longer has all the giftware and boho stuff that made the place dark and cluttered. They still have the cute little garden out the back which is lovely on a sunny day. I was too caught up with chit chat to see what kind of coffee they used but it was a nice blend.
Menu looked great too, will have to drop by again for something to eat.
John Dunnachie
The food and service was excellent, for a very busy Mother’s Day.
I would highly recommend this place for breakfast. All meals were very nice and presented very well.
Sammi
Do not sit out the back. They forget to serve you. They serve you food without cutlery. There are birds scavenging for food, and filthy dilapidated furniture.
The Critical Barista
Kofi beans has always been the most popular cafe in Main Street; probably because it was the first modern cafe to pop up. I think that with all the competition around now, management needs to encourage the staff to improve their customer service. Each time I come here for my take away coffees (always out of habit), I am ignored at the register, unacknowledged by the barista and rarely met with a hello or a smile by the cashier. I work in hospitality and I know how it goes; this attitude from staff is pure laziness and “ceebs”. Also why do the staff dress SO INAPPROPRIATELY for work? I’m all for female empowerment, but I shouldn’t have to wonder if u are wearing shorts or not. It’s just awkward for everyone involved. Push a little harder kofi beans; I’m done with u for now.
Lisamareemclean
Very busy and noisy which is expected on a Sunday morning. Waited about half an hour for food. Husband got salmon Benedict. Eggs were way over cooked and hollandaise was the powdered fake type, not made from scratch which was disappointing. I got a veggie big breakfast. It was ok. The beans and house made hash browns lacked flavour unfortunately.
We had to ask for cutlery and for water. All in all, fair but I feel like they could have done with a couple of extra staff on.
Shirley Preston
we are new to the area and. are trying the local cafes. we had lunch at Kofi bean last week. dispite not being overly busy our service wanted. the table we sat at hadn't been cleaned properly. the coffeet tasted bitter and flat. we both had the soup which we thought it had been watered down. maybe we only got them on an off day.
Shirley McConnell
Lovely coffee and staff. Hard to wait for takeaways as you’re right in front of the kitchen but eat in is lovely. Lots of options for my vegetarian children and meat eating husband.
Miss Sage Sugar
I chose the ‘Vegetarian Pizza – roast pumpkin, spinach, pesto, pine nuts, bocconcini ($13.50)’. This is my favourite dish at Kofi Beans. It’s healthy, light and tasty. The pumpkin and pesto combo is a winner, with a gorgeous base.

Came this morning with my son and ordered the smashed avocado for myself and kids pancakes for my son.
My meal was ok, the avo lacked seasoning which could have been improved if there was more feta than a sprinkling of maybe 3/4 of a teaspoon. The balsamic glaze was also merely a squiggle on the plate which looked nice but didnt allow enough to have even the tiniest bit in each bite.
My sons pancakes were tiny, more like pikelets and came with a scoop of vanilla icecream and maple syrup, he loved the icecream but after eating one pikelet he said he didnt feel well. I had a taste of it and honestly spat it out, it was so soaked in oil it was inedible and tasted of nothing but oil, i was actually able to squeeze the oil out of it.

The service was good we were seated fast, orders taken fast and meals arrived quite fast but i was really surprised that after i told them at the register that the pancakes were so bad i still had to pay the full $7.50.
I feel like this place has gone down hill. I dont think ill be back
Sarah Fergie
As a bit of a muffin fiend, these are the best muffins I have encountered yet. They do sell out, so get in before the end of the day. Other options are a good range of breakfast and lunch meals; with something for everyone, including the ethically inclined. The menu also changes often so variety is on the table. Outside seating - front and back, as well as inside options.

Dear Kofi Beans,
We love coming to Kofi beans to get our chocolate milkshakes and chai lattes! Your banana bread is yummy! We wanted to rate you a 6!
☕️🍞😇💕🎁 love from Amirthini, Kanmani, Indu and Natasha

We dropped in here with our family on a weekend. The place was steadily busy. Service was a little below par and a lot of items like drinks and food were not available which was quite annoying. The bread was a little too toasted and everyone couldn't eat it. The veggo pizza was good.
Bonastar1977
Good atmosphere and yummy food. The staff are hard working as the place is always busy. It is unfortunate that the coffee is consistently terrible.
Josie
I’ve been here a couple of times and the service differs. Sometimes it’s really great and quick and other times it’s not the best. Considering its table service, i’ve had to seat myself and grab my own cutlery after my meal was brought to me. It’s like I was invisible to staff. Upside, the coffee is good here, their coffee machine is one of the coolest I’ve seen and the food isn’t bad.
Adi
Didn't really like the food or service here. We ordered blueberry pancakes with fairy floss. They forgot to give fairy floss and just served two pancakes stacked one on top of the other with some maple syrup on the side. 😱 Even the pancakes were very eggy. It was nothing like the photos they have uploaded on Instagram. Very disapointed with it.
Lily
We came here on a Sunday morning based on the good things we had heard about this place. We got a smashed avocado and toast with jam. The smashed avocado was a small serving and bland, it definitely needed seasoning and was not worth the price they charge for it. Partner said his toast was alright. Our coffees never came despite the waiter taking our order when we sat down. Overall, prices are steep and we were left feeling unsatisfied.
Ivy
Went here for lunch. The interior is nice and spacious. There are also great outdoor seatings at the back which is perfect on sunny days. The coffee and food were great. We ordered the pull pork benedict and warm beetroot salad. The waitress got our order wrong but quickly fixed it up. Very friendly service.
Tom Williams
I have been coming here for years and have always loved it.
Until I witnessed bullying from the owner.
It’s 2020 what a shame people still behave like this
Antony Henare
Great coffee great breakfast thank you very much for a fantastic morning with my children we love your venue and great flavours looking forward to another visit
Vivaciouslyk
Service polite overall. Mistake made with coffee order and replacement coffee took a while to arrive, by which point we had almost finished eating. Good coffee. Large servings of food, though the salad was very carrot-heavy and felt like an unnecessary addition to a smashed avocado dish. Both dishes underwhelming, and being charged $5 for only two pieces of bacon was a bit steep. Won't be back.

This place had the best breakfast and these amazing hash browns that were to die for. Recently they have hired new chefs and the quality of the food is going downhill fast! Hash browns are not the same anymore and the food is mediocre. Ordered my usual poached eggs today and they came out hard boiled. Sent them back and when they returned, it appeared that they had microwaved the rest of the plate so the mushrooms were soggy and cold on the inside and they released water when microwaved which made the bread black and soggy. It was foul. The quality of the food which was amazing to start with has degraded so quickly. I suggest they trajn the new chefs or hire new ones!

Kofi Beans is by far my go to place for amazing coffee and a great meal, my partner and I come here at least once a month for breakfast.
They've recently done a menu revamp and some of their new meals are delicious.
The atmosphere of the cafe is lovely, it has a great Moroccan feel with an eclectic vibe (especially in the courtyard) and when you sit down it may be a little loud but you're surrounded by people enjoying company of friends and family over a great meal, the service is always great and prompt every time I've visited and the staff are polite and helpful also being able to require to a multitude of dietary requirements.
My one true love is their pancakes, with the menu revamp they've changed from summer berries to a seasonal fruit compote as the accompaniment and it is delicious. The meal is presented beautifully with a large serving of Persian fairy floss on top which is a great sweet addition. The serving is huge especially for the price and I have to push myself to get through it because it's so yum especially with the double cream and maple syrup.
Recently I also tried their new lamb pizza and it was delicious, sadly they had ran out of bocconcini but were more than happy to change it to feta for me which was absolutely delicious. The slow cooked pulled lamb is full of flavour and still extremely moist and every bite is filled with perfectly chargrilled capsicum and (very clearly) a housemade ztaziki.
The coffee is always lovely and at the perfect temperature and they have a large range of alternative milks which always makes me gravitate to a coconut milk hot chocolate (tastes just like a bounty!) which has now become one of my favourites.
My partner and I won't go anywhere else in Croydon Main Street for a meal or coffee because we know it will always be spot on and the service is wonderful, definitely worth trying if you're a local in the area because it is our go to.
Michael Hotker
When you walk into kofi beans you immediately are transported to a whole new dimension, you look around and see so many people laughing and enjoying themselves and the company of others. The hot chocolate I had was exceptional! Will be coming back for sure!
Suzie Miller
It was nice until I got home and saw on the receipt that I was charged for a soy latte that I didn't order ?? will remember to check next time. Except that there won't be a next time.
Michelle
We dropped in here based on the number of patrons already in and eating. Service is to be commended - we ordered and got our food really fast and staff were pleasant. Despite having some vegetarian and vegan options on the menu I found they were a bit limited here. The goats cheese eggs were nice but under-goats cheesed (added a creaminess but not enough to detect the taste) the eggplant relish was a strange addition and didn't really add much. Coffee was solid. Would come back for the coffee, service and price point.
LJ
Always a pleasant spot for brunch, delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere, the recent changes in decor have taken away some of the character of the cafe, but the food is definitely worth it.
Alicia Joanna
The feta scrambled eggs are the best eggs in melbourne. Large claim, but simply delicious. This cafe never disappoints. Cute inside to boot.
Allie Mc
Would give it less than 1 if I could. The service was non existent and when you asked for help waitress replied with eye rolling and an attitude. When we eventually placed our order waitress came back at pretty much threw napkins and cultery on table. Staff could do with some customer service training. Then took about 45mins to get our food which was definitely not worth the wait. Partner got english breakfast- 2 eggs, 2 hashbrown balls and smallest sausage I've ever seen for $19.50. Rip off is an understatement. Not even some bread to fill you up. Left almost as hungry as we entered. Hands down worst cafe I've been to in Croydon. Avoid at all cost.
"JT" Jeffrie Trika
BIG name ....

Got to commend the Middle Eastern flavour set up, cleverly done, wonderfully presented and easy to enjoy.

Unfortunately, I was expecting more with their coffee and food, it did not deliver.
Bel
I was here the other day to get dinner before a Battle of the Bands at EV's. I had the drips and it was stunning, the bread was beautifully crisp with a slightly soft inside and the duos were flavorful. They have the best lemon, lime and bitters I've ever tasted and will certainly return if I'm in Croydon Main Street.
Ross Crisp
Has been more or less a reliable watering hole. Holds up well against the growth of competition in the main street of Croydon in recent times. Menu is a bit predictable, but outdoor seating (front & back) is very good in warm weather.
Taylor B
I'm a local in Croydon, and Kofi Beans is always my go too! So many delicious options that caters for a wide range of dietary requirements. I love the vibe and I'm never disappointed with the quality of the products! One thing is that it is a little on the pricy side, especially for the area. But I still keep coming back! Would highly recommend to anyone, especially if your looking for a good vegetarian/vegan feed! Also they have a wide range of gluten free desserts sourced locally from yarralicious!
Jesse2028
Love having a coffee and the blueberry pancakes here. I couldn't say a negative word against the food, coffee or service, everything is great! Keep it up!
BGfood
I will never understand how this place is so popular in Croydon. I always avoid coming here unless I am somehow forced into it. I really tried to like this place however, consistently every time I come the service is just terrible. I am a very tolerant person but every single time I have to wait forever to be seated. Then I typically wait 20-25 minutes to have my order taken, despite signally to staff multiple times (I really don't like doing it but it seems to be the only way). Then so often when I get my meal they get the orders mixed up. After the whole experience I am horrified by the bill. While the food is on par with the surrounding cafes, the service is horrible and the prices are higher. Info not recommend unless you don't care about price or service.
Steph Schneider
It has gone down hill. The menu is lacking with variety. Not everyone eats lamb and pork. Sat down and did not receive any water or asked if we wanted drinks. 15 minutes passed without being served so we left.
The Brunch Club
This must have changed hands.... the food is so small, the menu is not what it used to be. Not to mention how expensive it is now. I wouldn't go back .
Ceebear71
Don't go here anymore. Food is quite nice but the prices are ridiculous high and the service is terrible- bordering on the rude and dismissive.
Sharon
Sensational coffee! A menu filled with a range of healthy and comfort foods, meaning that our group of 8 were all satisfied, as we each had very different tastes. While there is clear Moroccan influence, the food is still very 'standard-breakfast', but made a little different with a Moroccan spice or two, simply perfect! I will be back no doubt! The home wares in store are also very beautiful!
Elena
Always love coming here for a fraüs, and the menu is always full of wonderful things!! Today I had the Spring Salad with quinoa, roasted cauliflower and grilled halloumi...so yum!!
Facebook User
LOVE THE SMASHED AVO!
Never loved avo until now! Smidgen pricey would feel more value for money if there was 2 pieces of toast instead of 1 but who cares it was yum
Coffee was coffee nothing really to rave about but was still good
Huckleberry
I've been going here almost daily for many years, Best coffee and customer service in Croydon. Excellent food that has only improved over the years. They're extremely busy so changes to the menu cost money, that's just smart business. If you think that all coffee tastes the same then KofiBeans isn't for you. If you just want a meat pie for lunch, this isn't the place for you... But if you actually like coffee and you enjoy food then make a booking. I've never been disappointed here, never in over 5 years.
Dishmoptop
The new owner is nasty and the coffee is no longer nice. It's very disappointing to see such a great cafe go downhill this way. It's 'sister' cafe has the same issues.
Rosee
More than $5 for an average soy chai?? I don't think so Kofi Beans!! I vowed not to come back after being charged extra for honey!!! Croydon is in desperate need of good cafes!!
Melbourne Foodie Lover
Coffee is great and love their breakfast options, this place has a really nice vibe and friendly staff which makes u want to go back... Definitely will be back soon
Kat
Super friendly staff, beautiful selection of cakes and great smoothies and coffees. Have been here a few times and the main meals are always very tasty and hearty. Also love the bohemian decor and always interesting giftware in their little shop section.
Amy_999222
I couldn't believe the stingy portion size. The smoked salmon was measly and kind of torn into tiny bits you could hardly see under the poached eggs which were underdone (slimy whites).
I ordered extra avocado ($3) and feta ($4). For that extra seven bucks I was the lucky recipient of a quarter of a small avocado, and literally a metric tablespoon of feta. Like seriously a 3cm piece, and it was strangely grainy.
The flavour of hollandaise was the only positive.
LeanMeanChewingMachine
Our first time here and were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the Big Brekkie, The Winter Salad & Omelette. The food were amazing in flavour and I was impressed. The portions are on the thin side but I guess that will leave space for cakes after. Speaking of which, their carrot cake was awesome - moist with visible shredded carrots. Coffees here are also fantastic and shouldn't be missed.
Wayne And Cassandra
This is our regular breakfast spot when we are in the area, it's s very cool and kooky, indie style cafe from its interesting decor to its hidden terrace seating at the back which adds to the ambience of this cool and vibrant coffee shop.
Our standard brekkie would be the big breakfast and the eggs benedict with a cappuccino and chai latte.
The food is a good but a little pricey however the coffee is amazing and a must if in the area. The service is hit and miss with the place is busy it's very hard to get any service.
Overall, a great coffee shop in the middle of the 'burbs.
David Ensor
Worst service ever! Literally needed to crash tackle staff to get served. Toast was basic and vibe was good though. Tea was good,.,.........
Foodyfabulous99
This cafe is amazing. The decor is funky and unique and always welcoming. The coffee here us always outstanding and no order is ever too hard. Food is unbelievable and the service is always second to none. This is one of my regular cafes and always will be!!!!
SN
Great little coffee and brekkie place in the main Croydon strip.

A little hard to get a decent table without a booking as its extremely popular with the locals.

Extensive brekkie and specials menu - a little wait at times.
A fav place for take away coffees.
Mark Pendrey
You'd never believe your in the main street of Croydon when you sit out the back of this marvelous establishment. It's like a hidden Shangri-la.
The food although a bit pricey is all organic and well made and presented.
The coffee is their cornerstone and rightfully so, it is amazing.
The staff are attentive without being in your face. Definitely worth a visit
Tomi Arnott
Been here many times over the years and I have never been disappointed by the generous food and drinks menu or the friendly staff. A must if you are in the area!

Fantastic savoury muffin, with potato, olives and rosemary. Very moist, and perfect for a light breakfast. Coffee was great too. Nicely decorated.
Tamalane White
Went for Breakfast. They were happy to cater for my dairy allergy.
Interesting environment. Turkish/Middle Eastern decor.
Nice Service. Friendly Staff and Attentive.
Good food. The usual breakfast food with some Turkish/Middle Eastern Influences.
Zoe
Great coffee... Nice ambience, good (vegan friendly) food. Friendly staff. Only reason its a 4.5 not a 5 is because some of the staff are a little....(for lack of a better word) on the pretentious hippie side...which can get on the nerves a tad but probably nice people once you get past all that. Did I mention GREAT coffee???
Ilja Klement
Having coffee and light meals now and then. Best coffee in town and not only Croydon town. Highly recommended. They have also lite garden in the back of the shop.
Monique
Nice relaxing place to have a coffee and cake, they can do a yummy breakfast also, been there plenty of times with family and friends!
Pleasent waiters :)
Papa Chino
Delicious coffee, nice atmosphere, Moroccan soup and toast perfect on a cold wet Sunday.
CE
This place used to be a favourite but the service is now soooo bad that we refuse to go. It's a shame because the food is great. I can't believe how rude some of the staff are.
Tracey Brown
Was nervous to try this place after reading other reviews about how bad the service was, however we were really pleased with our dining experience at Kofi Beans tonight. The waitresses were well-presented, pretty, prompt and most helpful and encouraging. We dined on the tapas - scallops, prawns and mezze platter and it all looked and tasted really delish. The singing acoustic guitar playing shiny-haired girl was lovely and the house organic wine was well priced and yummy. Only complaint was that the table wasn't really big enough to squeeze all the food on. Would love to go back on a sunny day and while away some time in the gorgeous quirky courtyard. Well done ladies :) xo

I went there yesterday for lunch with 2 others. Nobody came up to give us a menu so we had to ask. Looked around and found a nice ambience then looked down and the floor was dirty and had food spilt. None of the floor staff seemed bothered by it. When we were ready to order we signalled to the waiter, he was sitting and talking to what seemed to be his friend at the corner couch. He signalled back that he was coming only to keep talking as he stood slowly and kept talking. Showed no urgency or interest in taking our order. After lunch which was delicious, I went to have a look at the cakes on display and asked the barista girl if she heard any feedback about the carrot cake and bluntly responded, "I don't like cake so I couldn't tell you"!
Not a really good way to up sell!!!
Madelleinehayes
Great food.. Worst service. There aren't many places in which the service destroys my opinion.. But this is one of them.
I could wait 10-40 minutes for someone to take my order, i usually sit outside and multiple staff members will come out and sort of look around dumbfounded, without realising that we've been sitting there for half an hour waiting.
However the food is great!
Clanca
Disappointing. Went for breakfast. Were seated at a dirty table and handed menu's. Had to ask to have the last customers scrambled egg cleaned off the table. Ordered 3 serves of avacado on toast. ( It wasn't particulary busy the entire time we were there)
After a 35 minute wait our meal turned up. The toast itself was actually simply warmish bread. Ungenerous servings and over priced meal, considering what it was. The coffee was really good and the majority of the staff were nice.
Jessica
My number one recommendation for a good café in Croydon is a hard call, but Kofi Beans just takes first spot because of my preference for Middle Eastern flavours, done well. It is also, most likely, the only place in Croydon you can order quinoa porridge, and then purchase the colourful bowl it was served in from the homewares section of the café, afterwards. Mismatched tables, chairs and throw cushions add to the eclectic feel – and the street side tables make it the perfect spot to bring your pooch and the paper and while away your morning accompanied by a bowl of baked eggs and a coffee or freshly squeezed juice.

A very delicious combination of flavours from the relish and basil pesto with great quality eggs, spinach, mushrooms and tomato. Perfect.

From the ratings on Urbanspoon I expected a little more. The coffees were burnt, the service was less than optimal and the dishes were a bit small for the prices we paid. Despite all this, the flavours were there and I did enjoy the meal in the end.

Still not sure. This place is so hit and miss. The food is fantastic!! But I usually not only wait ages for it, but even have to wait for the privilege of being noticed by wait staff. And then they're cold and discourteous. I've sat there for 20 minutes more than once, and would have left if Croydon had more to choose from. The staff seem a whole lot more interested in looking funky and giggling together than actually helping their paying customers. Great eats / seriously disastrous service.

Bad juice, bad service. I went here to get a drink to cool down and ordered a large immune booster juice. To be frank, it tasted like bitter dirt. I sent it back and a waitress happily took it but then when I was in the bathroom and my boyfriend was paying they billed him for it. I went to talk to the same waitress who took my juice back and she said "Well, you ordered it..." so I left. 8 dollars for something I had a sip of and sent back.

To be fair, I've been here other times and the food, especially their moroccan harissa soup is quite nice, but the service is generally slow/terrible, and I've had to flag down waitresses to get service more often than not.

Only go here if you are fine with slow service and overpriced food - and don't order any of their juices.

Thankyou. Went to Kofi Bean for lunch today with a friend & as I have a number of intolerances and allergies the Chef was happy to adapt a salad to suit my needs. Coffee & salad was very good, thanks to the lovely staff for being so understanding, an A plus from me for both food and service.

Poor effortl!. We decided to come back here after a not so great first impression and we were disappointed once again. Our order came out wrong, so we had it fixed and then waited... And waited...until we had to approach someone. The drink finally came out right, but it was poorly made!
We haven't been impressed here and won't go back again.

Want to be ignored? This is the place for you - - - - -. Was totally ignored at the establishment. It is a wonder they have not gone broke here - isn't the object of a business to make money? They won't make any if customers are ignored like this.
Avoid unless you revel in your own company or like standing around for vast amounts of time - -

Instant win!. "Wow" as I walked in to this unique little cafe, always busy! Have eaten here a few times and have found it to always be delicious and fresh! Some food items are not for the budget friendly but quality is there. Have noticed kofi beans has been around for a while now and how great to see they are still so successful! Also happy to see there isn't a billion roasts to choose from anymore..... Must say I am guilty of being a little intimidated by such selection and had failed to actually try a coffee... Until i had an enjoyable sip of my friends soy latte... Needless to say I am hooked... Any cafe that can master the annoyance of a soy mocha with a double ristretto instantly wins my heart. Great balance of flavour, temperature and only two minutes from home... Does life get any better ?

Disappointed. Food menu is consistently good, disappointingly the same can't be said about the coffee.. The only consistency with the coffee is it isn't

Good place - but contrasting reviews puzzle me.. Goodness me! I am truly puzzled at the violent contrast between favourable and unfavourable reviews of Kofi Beans.

The food is delicious and exquisitely prepared, although I will grant some of the dishes are more exotic than my conservative tastes prefer - but I have always found something there that I like.

The chocolate-macadamia brownies are the best I have had for many years, and I assume the other desserts are just as good, but I always go for the brownies. The iced coffee or iced mocha I normally have as a drink is simply the best available anywhere that I currently know of - as simple as that. It is one of the few places where I don't constantly have to struggle against weak iced coffee which I often get elsewhere, even when I specifically ask for it to be strong. (I can't speak for hot coffee - I never drink hot drinks of any sort.)

Never had problems with the service (maybe I'm less fussy than some), and never found the staff arrogant - always pleasant and helpful to me, at least. If I lived closer I would come here more often than I do, in fact. As it is, I quite often come some distance out of my way to eat here or get a drink, if I have the time to do that.

When I hear strong claims of rudeness by staff (more than just an ordinary shortfall from perfect service), I do have at least a smidgen of wondering about what the customer must have said or done to so upset the staff in question - customers can also be rude and demanding, sometimes, and like begets like, I suppose. In my experience, it is exceedingly rare for staff in places like this to be even slightly rude, etc. - never mind grossly as some have stated in their reviews. And I've never observed a trace of this at Kofi Beans, from any of the staff.

As I say, it puzzles me - but I am happy with Kofi Beans, and will keep coming as long as that remains the case.

Yes Kofi Bean, you got it right! A buzzing Brunswick Street style cafe, right here in our own backyard! Decent food, great coffee, awesome atmosphere and yes you are a little more expensive than the run of the mill cafés, but we 'can't have our cake and eat it too' or can we
