Review Red Door Bakery - Croydon

I had a Angus beef pie, just baked. Real beef was very tender and pie was so cripy.

It's pretty groovey place to go. Photos are from 14/12/17

Delicious Angus Beef Pie. Matthew (4) thoroughly enjoyed the pork and sage sausage roll. Great espresso iced coffee. Service with a smile is a bonus these days. We'll done Red Door Bakery. We will definitely come back.+

So very sad to see Red door close. If it ever comes back I'll be visiting regularly again. Always plenty of amazing fresh baked produce to choose from. The best pies, pasties and sausage rolls I've had, real home style baked goods. Happy to go out of my way to head out for the excellent food these guys have on offer.

Beautiful coffee, amazing pies and stunning desserts (and friendly staff!)

This is a beautiful little bakery. Nice and quiet with a cosy feel. Winter it's a beautiful cosy snug place and in summer it's a buzzing vibrant pulse of the Western suburbs. Brilliant original flavoured pastries. AMAZING salted Carmel bricks and even better staff.

Best coffee by far in the queen street cafe cluster. Vegetarian options available. Outdoor seating gets the sun too . Affordable. Mind the saloon doors when exciting and carrying food. Can be slightly perilous. Nice pastries.
Stefan Greenwood
Home madebreads, pies, sausage rolls and cakes. Yummm
Ally Sinclair
Nothing beats the flakiness of homemade pastry. A little disappointed by the charging for sauce - very un-Australian, and the pies do need it because they are a little dry. But it’s cute and delicious.
Ryan
Red been and chilli pie, delicious. Quality ingredients, well cooked, just spot on. Haven't had a meat pie this good in years. Lots of flavour. Well done

Coffee tastes great here!
The sage pie is really tasty, fluffy awesome pastry and great flavor. Value for money is decent.
I'd recommend this place!

I was in the area and needed to have the obligatory stop at Red Door Bakery. I managed to resist the sausage rolls this rolls but ended up leaving with a passionfruit meringue tart and a chocolate salted caramel brick and a couple of panini rolls. I had to cut myself off...

Still love the ice chocolate and pies after many years. I'm surprised that there are not more ppl here. Staff are friendly and nice cosy atmosphere.

Nice hidden little cafe. Very nice coffee and pastries served on vintage plate. It reminds me of my childhood. Must come to try this place. Great service as well
Poppie
Poppie popped into Red door Bakery for brunch. This place is incredible. Serving delicious pastries and 🍞. Poppie tried the Moroccan lamb eggplant sausage roll and the pork and Sage sausage roll. Both were divine with the lamb one taking the cake. The sausage rolls also came accompanied with a chilli and onion chutney. Poppieed a creme brulee which was amazing. Perfect balance of sweet and savoury. Prices are also extremely reasonable. Red door Bakery is definitely worth an eat to satisfy your bakery pastry style urges. Thumb up 👍

Red Door is cozy and popular neighbourhood bakery which is famous for their pork fennel sausage roll and other French-style pastries. The bakery makes and bakes the pastries on-site and the aroma of the pastries whets my appetite.

The pork sausage roll is simply awesome. Crispy and fluffy on the outside and juicy and succulent on the inside, Red Door has shown how and why some pastries taste much much better when they are made-to-order and not delivered from a factory.

If Red Door opens an outlet in Sydney, that can spell disaster for the highly overrated Bourke Street Bakery.

One of the best bakery or pastry I can find in Adelaide, love their pork and sage roll. Please order it together with the chilli jam, it cost extra but worth it. Just one complain, the pastry are usually sold fast, going their before closing time usually can't get those popular good stuff.
Tige
This cute bakery serves the most delicious sausage rolls in town. The pastry is light and flaky and the filling is tasty and full of flavour. They are very generously sized but are on the pricey end for a sausage roll. They also come with homemade chili jam if you dine in. The bakery also sell fresh baked sourdough which we have purchased. There is also a selection of cakes for sale, try the homemade lamington with marshmallow centre if you like something super sweet. I also like the salted caramel chocolate bars. Don't get there too late or you'll miss out on their delicious treats.

I love this bakery! It's on such a groovy little street and has amazing food!!! All of the staff were very welcoming as well which was just another plus!

Would definitely go back again and again!

A great local bakery. Pork sausage rolls and their creme brulee tarts are a must try when coming here! Bit on the pricey side, but it ever disappoints..
FooDee
I absolutely love Red Door Bakery. Consistently great coffee, and many amazing goodies to tempt anyone. The staff are lovely, helpful and friendly. I most enjoy a quiet coffee first thing in the morning. Otherwise, the place is always pretty busy.

After reading all the great reviews, I decided to try this bakery for the first time last weekend. I had the pork and sage sausage roll- it was delicious but a little small for the price. Also dissappointed they dont have vanilla slice on their sweets menu! It always seems the bakeries with the good pies and sausage rolls are missing vanilla slices from their repertoire, and opting for the smaller, fancier sweets. Nonetheless I went back today and bought a wholemeal sourdough loaf- which is a good size for $6.50. Went home and had a slice toasted with butter and Beerenberg honey and it was delicious. So overall it gets a positive score! Side note- because of the construction on South Road at the moment it can be a little difficult to get into/out of the area at the moment.

Fresh and delicious hot pies and sausage rolls. Great place for a quick bite or even a chilled lunch catch up with some friends. Coffee was good, food was good... Service was here and there. Days there'll be really friendly staff then days where they're just rude. Gave us the wrong change, then we had to ask for our correct change back and no apology was even given...But I still love their pies.

Never fails to impress. Will go out of my way to visit this bakery. Very popular so always busy in the store. Can be difficult to get a park and a seat if eating in
Carmen Tassone
Been there multiple times really enjoyed the beef chuck pie and pastries. Their cream brûlée and coffee are a great compliment to the meal experience! It's always busy there thou.
Miss L
After finishing my brunch at Queen Street Café I just had to visit Red Door Bakery a few shops down for something sweet to finish off my meal. I only planned to get one item but everything just looked so good that I couldn’t decide on one item. I ended up walking out with 3! Oops!. Of course I had to get a crème brûlée tart. It is a must try if you ever visit Red Door Bakery. The tart was encased in crisp golden flaky pastry. The custard was silky, luscious and smooth with a crackling burnt sugar top.

Adorable modern bakery with a friendly vibe, original, delicious food and coffee. Creme brûlée tart was too good! I love that the gourmet sausage rolls also come with chutney or chilli jam, rather than standard boring tomato sauce. As you should. A varying range of yummy treats and large loaves of rustic bread will also tempt you.

The number of existing positive reviews on Zomato shows just how popular Red Door Bakery is.

Red Door, at the busy Elizabeth Street in Croydon is, perhaps, a hipster take on the traditional Oz bakery. Their food uses quality ingredients in unique combinations. I'm particularly partial towards the bakery's pork and sage sausage rolls, with chilli jam sauce - near best sausage roll I've had.

The coffee and sweets are always good; my partner is a big fan of their salted caramel brownie brick. And, whilst I haven't tried them, I'm told the fresh rolls and pizzas are great too.

There's now three Red Spot bakeries around Adelaide. If you haven't already, make sure you get to one.
Zelda RL
Excellent bakery, been coming here for ages now! Great casual spot for a catch up with friends, plenty of savory and sweet treats to choose from. The coffee is pretty good as well!
Eating Adelaide
Pork and sage sausage roll was exceptional with flaky pastry. Chicken, potato and tarragon pie was not like anything I've had before and lacked a little sauce/wetness inside and unfortunately was just luke warm. Good service and they use butter (not margarine) to make all pastries.
Jealous Aphid
I've lived down the road from it for three years now and I'm not sick of it at all! Always there for me when I need a friend, a bottle of milk, a loaf of bread, or a tasty treat.

Try everything, it's all good, Pana cotta, chocolate brick, and the pizzas especially.
Hello. Imnikki
Having heard about the ginger creme brûlée tart, we made it a point to try out Red Door Bakery during a trip to Adelaide a year ago. Suffice to say, we were impressed enough to keep coming back each time we visit Adelaide. Other than the aforementioned creme brûlée tart, the passion fruit meringue tart, salted caramel brownie, croissant and savoury pies all have become firm favourites of ours. Service is faultless and coffee is on point. There's minimal seating inside so be prepare to bang elbows with others on the communal table.

If you're into pastries you've come to the right place. The hot pies and rolls and sweet pastries have the most delicious and flaky pastry. I had been buying the 7 grain sourdough for months and just loved it. Its great Sunday morning breakfast bread. In revent months however the loaf has shrunk in size. It's still a beautiful bread though :) I have noticed that a lot of the time their baked goods tend to be a little overdone on the bottom but its never inedible

One of the greatest things about RedDoor is most definitely the tomato chutney served with their hot food. The even greater thing is they sell it in jars to take home. You can also buy their chilli jam in jars.

Coffee? Never missed a beat. You're always guaranteed a good brew here 👌

How should I bring my baby in?: pram space is a little inside but outside you should be fine with one.
Onegreedygirl
One of my fave regulars. We always stop by Red Door if we're pressed for time (or hungover). It's perfect for a super quick coffee and brekky. The vego pies are ace and the sweets are always amazing.
JayTea & The Co-Pilot
The Co-Pilot and I always get drawn to one particular item on their menu, the Pork and Sage Roll. It may make for a shorter blog post when we both order the same thing but neither of us were willing to forgo an entire roll and they are far too good to share. I always remember that I enjoy this roll, it’s why we come back after all, but I must admit that I did forget just how delicious it was! The pastry was flakey on the outside yet soft on the inside, the filling itself was meaty and flavoursome.
FoodPitt
Live in the area so have been here more times than I count. Love the coffee, love the pastries and who can go past the lamb and Moroccan eggplant sausage roll with the home made chilli jam.
Angie-Marie Piantadosi
if you want some of the best home made sausage rolls ever then this is defiantly the place to go!! the service is friendly and the vibe in the place is relaxed, a bit small inside the place but they have a wide selection of yummy pastries and salads to pick from and everything tastes amazing!
Gerbert
great food, delicious, Really friendly staff- will definitely go back. Loved the rhubarb danish. Friend had a coffee and they said it was really nice.
Let's Nomnom
Started with a passion for good bread and pastries, Red Door Bakery now has 3 stores with loyal repeated customers longing for pies, sausage rolls, breads, and their house-made chili jam. Following the crowd, we decided to go with their Pork and Sage Sausage Roll with chili jam on the side and Creme Brulee Tart. Sausage roll was delicious, flaky, full of meaty goodness and chili jam made it extra special and tasty. As for the tart, it was encased in crisp golden pastry and on top of the custard was a nicely crunchy caramelised sugar with a distinctive burnt toffee flavour.
MGDL
My favourite bakery! Damn good pies and sausage rolls. My go to is the lamb and Moroccan eggplant sausage roll, chilli jam and a creme brûlée tart. Just awesome and great coffee as well. I'm glad we live close by so we come here pretty much once a week or fortnight. Highly recommended, and I always take new friends and visitors from overseas here to have a meat pie or a sausage roll. You won't be disappointed!
Veevee
Try the brûlée and chicken baguette. The brûlée is more like a fine custard tart with a thin toffee on top. Not the same crackle as real brûlée but a great take away version. Enough to give me my brûlée fix. Great place for a casual brunch/lunch. The little cakes are delightful. It is a fine bakery, no thick soggy doughnuts here. Great coffee and their bread looks amazing. Can't wait to try their other foods.
On The Chopping Board
Having a craving for something sweet one weekend, I (Mirko) made the trek down to Croydon to sample some sweets from Red Door Bakery. One...turned into five!. Looking at the sweets cabinet, I intend on purchasing one item....which turned into five! What can I say, may as well go all in :). Passionfruit Meringue Tart: The meringue is light, fluffy and not overly sweet (which some meringues can be) with a tart passionfruit curd sitting underneath. The pastry is also short and crumbles in your mouth.
Adam D
It might be a long way to the shop for a sausage roll, but its well worth it. Only pleasure can come from smashing a salted caramel brick in your face.
Kim
Love the Creme brûlée tarts and the meat pies!! This review has to be 140 characters long so I'm just filling in the words now..............
Michelle
One of Adelaide's best bakeries. Creme brûlée tart is to die-for
Forrestal & Birdbush
I love that the ingredients are free range &/ or organic in their bakery goods. They have great produce & cater for vegetarians. They also do an excellent Chai Latte. Only downside is that although the staff are nice they seem to get orders a bit mixed up at times. On a few occasions I've ordered & paid for a large drink but gotten regular. And one time I ordered a lentil pie but when I got home (45-60 mins away) I realised it was a chicken pie they gave me, so I didn't eat it.

Cute cafe!!. Quiet, quaint little cafe that was a favourite of ours for breakfast. The banana and caramel muffins are a delight. Amazing coffee too.
The Toothpick
A Door. Keeping it simple and honest is something that appeals to me. The gang at Red Door have done just that. Make good food & coffee and they will come. No nonsense, simple yet inviting decor, nice staff, ticks all the boxes for me.
Gfergeson
Pies and Coffee. A simple lunch but exactly what we were after. A couple of meat pies and coffee. Very good.
Melody Lovejoy
Coffee and a croissant. Good coffee! amazing croissant. simple and effective. I work in hospitality and sometime you just want a good pastry and good coffee, I'm a bit finicky with coffee as being a batista, but they made me my triple espresso warm soy flat white without even a grimace. was perfect! and everyone was tentative and nice. Cheers. I'll be back. I haven't been for a while but thought I'd review as you left an impact!

Red Door Bakery. The creme brûlée is amazing!
Juke
We had the Moroccan sausage roll & the Special Pork sage sausage roll with chilli jam, beef pie with pancetta & red wine and the creme brûlée tart. Both sausage rolls were delicious, the pastry was beautifully buttery & flaky & the filling had a good medium texture, great flavour & both pastry & filling we're not oily. The chilli jam goes really well with the sausage roll, a lovely slight chilli bite but with a caramel type sweetness from the reduced apple. The pie was good, a good proportion of non fatty brisket in the filling, but tended on being slightly dry. Perhaps a little more gravy would have helped with the texture. I would also have liked to see the same flaky pastry on the top of the pie. The creme brûlée tart was delightful, lovely burnt sugar top (although it did not travel well - best eaten straight away) & a good well balanced creamy custard centre. The barista was able to make a great coffee for my very fussy companion. Highly recommended!

Sausage Rolls on Crack. I had heard a lot about the best sausage rolls, but it wasn't until I tried one, I understood what everyone was ranting about. THEY.ARE.THE.BEST. Wow. Love the crème brulee toffee tart things too.
Word On The Eat
Delcious !!. Pies and sausage rolls were delicious! ! Full to the brim with quality ingredients and the coffee was great too. Will be back to try some of the great looking sweets. !
Two Fat Cullos
Nice spot. Never disappointed when I come, it has a lovely atmosphere where one can sit, relax, drink a latte and read through the paper or catch up with a friend. Coffee is always good and pasties are delicious my favourite is the salted caramel brick. Buy a loaf of bread to take home as well there bread is delicious.
The Greedy Chupster
Hands down our favourite spot!!!. We visited from Perth.... definitely recommended.... the coffee is outstanding and so were the pastries... my partner can't stop raving about the creme brulee... in her own words "too die for"... enough said.....the service was outstanding... had a nice chat with the barista.... nice people...would definitely come back if/when I return to Adelaide!

The Greedy Chupster signing out!
Figpig
The creme brûlée tart is ridiculously good. Almost burnt dark caramel, cracking sugar and buttery pastry. A-mazing.
Sew Exciting
Niche bakery that's popular with the locals. Took my kids here for end of term lunch, in funky Queens St, corner of Elizabeth. The street is in an arty area reminiscent of Fitzroy in Melbourne, although it's less grungy than that, perched between Homewares, vintage shops with more than its fair share of good eateries. We arrived about 1230 on a cold but sunny Friday arvo. DS has Morrocan lamb sausage roll, DS had pork and sage SR and I had the special beef pie with pepper. I would order the special beef pie without pepper next time, pepper was overpowering for me. Had the chilli jam too, yum.
As DD is a big sweet tooth, we had a delicious honeycomb tart and creme brûlée tart. Everything was with ultra flaky pastry. Can see why it has a loyal following. We'll be back...
Tyson Vertroblun
The staff here are extremly immature. 2 of the girls on today were obnoxious and loudly mucking and being rude. Soeaking loudly about dating and scoffing at each other. Turning the music up loud. Food was great but i wont be back simply because i felt umconfortable
Georgia Parasiers
I'm a regular at red door bakery and I absolutely love everything about it. From the pies and sausage rolls to the chocolate caramel brick. It's my place for a coffee fix - best coffee around. Seriously cannot doubt it at all! Even better that they know me by my name! Might have to pop in soon to get my beloved caramel brick!
Greenleaf.arb
Great Place for a bite to eat n coffee... Go regularly.. pastries are great, staff are fantastic.. coffee is good but not the best.. the barristers are great just the beans..
Vivienne-tran
Great food, great staff, great ambiance!. I've read such great reviews on this place and wanted to experience current 92% likes on Urbanspoon for myself.
Its ratings are well-deserved. They have a great selection of savouries and sweets, and both are done very well. One of the girls there recommended the Massaman Beef pie with chilli jam, and it lived up to its recommendation. The flavours all go very well together. I took away their almond croissant and creme brulee to enjoy at home, and both didn't let me down.
It's very decently priced and is a great place to sit down to relax and to do some work. Definitely not going to be my last time here!

Fruit toast disappoints. The sour dough fruit toast is awful. Far too much fruit. A sultana farmer would even take issue with the fruit-to-dough ratio.
Bsbrensin
Great coffee and Pies,Sausage Rolls and pastries to die for.. We were visiting from Sydney and had heard about Red Door Bakery Gourmet Traveller. We had the most amazing food and coffee. We had to have some cakes to take back to our hotel. We were not disappointed they were delicious. When are you opening in Nsw?
JC
I got the mushroom ragu goats curd sandwich expecting it to be exactly that. I was expecting the ingredients to be in between slices of bread instead it came with burger buns. Pathetic spread of goats curd on one bun, and hardly any
Mushroom. It was a cold burger too, surely they could have warned you. And for $8, I would have expected more. We also got a beef pie that did not justify it's outrageous price even the amount of meat in it. I've had much better pie for half the price that was not cold. Coffee service was slow by the time it arrived we had long finished our food. Overall a real disappointment, was really looking forward to good food from the reviews.
Basil.gibson
Perfect cafe. A lovely lunch with fresh cakes and excellent coffee for dessert. Good value and friendly staff.
Paul Quirk
One of life's great pleasures has to be a Red Door Bakery Pork and Sage Roll sausage with Chili Jam. Yummo!
Laura
Simple goodness. Excellent coffee and the best pies - great vego options. Lovely staff.
BRUTAL
Big whoop. A bit small and uncomfortably to eat in
Forget the savoury mostly greasy and soggy ($6 for pork sausage roll), the sweet cakes/desserts are beautiful though.
Wont hurry back.
Zoe L
Great coffee and amazing lentil pie! Will be back :)
Guillaume Zap
I ve tried all rolls and pies, tryed to find a mistake, went during busy or quiet hours, the consistency of their work is just incredible !
Always tasty, served with smile, and cheap !
Good job !
Jane Robson
So many people rave about this place but every time I have eaten pies or sausage rolls here they are dry and stodgy. Really can't see what the attraction is except for the fact it is filled with people who are trying hard to look cool and trendy.
FoodChick
Delicious! Down to the last pastry crumb!. All the reviews are spot on, I have been wanting to try their sausage rolls since I read all the reviews, and boy was I not dissapointed.

The rosemary and pork roll was nice and big, juicy, the pastry nice and thick, buttery and melted in the mouth. The roll comes with a side pot of chilli jam which compliments the meat and herb combo perfectly. I also bought a creme brulee tart, and it was pure foodgasm! Crunchy melted sugar top and rich creme inside. Washed all this down with a delicious coffee.

Will absolutely be back to try their other pastry meat combos and desserts, I was drooling over the chocolate caramel slice. The prices are cheap, the staff are friendly and smile and happy to chat, the atmosphere is perfect.

That first bite of your pastry, and you'll be hooked for life. It's the butter, it's always the butter, once you had the taste of the perfect buttery pastry, you'll never look back. Eat all the fat! No time for low-fat or skinny anything!
Andrew Lord
A winner. Have been here again and again and have never had a thing that wasn't exceptional. Complete gem, from the food to the coffee to the friendly service.

You can't lose here. Grab a sausage roll and a creme brûlée tart. Excellence all over.
Michelle
Cyrene brûlée rocks!!!
Sweet Basil
Yummo. Fresh, quality, and service with a smile. We tried the Brick,oh what can i say amazing, and the banana caramel muffin so moist and a loaf of sourdough bread to take home, a lovely bread with substance, will have to go back to try the famous sausage rolls.
Georgiegecko
The Legendary Big Red!. We have been regulars to the Big Red since the very first time they opened up their Big Red Door to us the gorgeous public.

It has become a delightful, traditional outing for us each & every Sun-dee morn or just before our beautiful son plays an early/late game of soccer on a Sat-dee morn.

Their yyyyyummmy pastries, savoury treats, coffee, breads & the list goes on are all just amazing and handmade with soooo much love, passion and the ingredients used are Rolls Royce, you don't get more Grand than that.

Gareth, Emma & their fabo team are just devine, they always greet you with a gorgeous smile.

So if you still haven't discovered The Big Red you betta head on down to trendy, hip, very cool Croydon.
Holly Persico
Excellent and consistent. Both stores are great. Lovely staff, good coffee and delicious baked treats. Pork and sage sausage roll, chocolate salty caramel brick... YUM
Tony
Good service. :-) Nestled in a backstreet of cafes. Arty without being snobby. Inclusive. A two-thumbs-up local.
Wei
Great coffee, great atmosphere. Pastries were delicious. Will definitely drop by again.

Not your standard bakery!. What can I say? I heard about this place quite a while ago, and all i heard was nothing but positive things. I don't like when people hype/talk places up too much because they often disappoint!- not this place! Absolutely fantastic. I had a pork and sage sausage roll and that was superb, the pastry was light and fluffy and not doughy, the filling was simple but so flavorsome! For desert i had the creme brulee tart which was nothing but special. The filling was not too sweet and sickening, it was perfect! Lastly, i purchased an olive and Rosemary bread stick, to take home! I don't understand how something so simple can be so enjoyable- it was! All in all this "bakery" has an element which a normal bakery does not have, and that is its uniqueness! ill be back for sure!
Upsydaisy
Morning tea takeaway. Just stopped here to grab a quick takeaway morning tea. There were so many lovely looking treats it was hard to decide. We really enjoyed a cake & a muffin and will be back to sample more in the near future including the sourdough loaves
Food F
Good stuff.. My colleagues brought in some pastry's for the birthday into work and I just loved it. I would really want to try it out in person with my family.
Tash Bee
YUM. The Rhubarb Danish is just such a wonderful mix of sweet and a tart flavour, I look forward to getting one at every chance I get ! The location is very retro and vintage. The staff are super friendly and always make you feel welcome
Lashell0
Not Disappointed!. Took my Mum for a late Lunch for me and Afternoon Tea for her and I have to say we loved it!

The atmosphere was great and all the staff were so friendly, I don't go to too many places where everyone that is leaving gets a warm farewell.

The Food was great too. I has a Chicken Pie and mum had a Lemon Syrup Cake, both were really nice... I may have a Creme Brulee Tart in my Kitchen that will be scoffed a little later!
Emily
Love it. Lovely people, friendly genuine service and deliciousness everywhere. Yet another feather in the western suburbs eatery cap!!
Lindajing
Awesome bakery. I had the Hay Valley Lamb and Moroccan Eggplant Sausage Roll and the Creme Brulee tart for lunch. The sausage roll was tasty and quite filling. The creme brulee tart was perfect! I would love to come back and try more of the other sweet baked goods.

14/8/13 EDIT: Tried the salted caramel brick. It's everything I hoped it would be. Amazing.
Miriam Wallman
Another jaw droppingly wonderful local discovery. Simply out the Angas beef and Coopers stout pie was the best bakery pie I have ever eaten. If it had been served in a restaurant at twice to three times the price I would have been happy. Extraordinary pastry with generous, unctuous filling....total bliss! And then there was the creme brûlée tart. It was a religious experience. I actually cried in my food. Then I went back to the counter and bought another. I beg of you....please go and eat. You will be filled with joy.
Janellegarciathatsme
Delicious. I am addicted to this place, great style and even greater goods. The sausage rolls are to die for!
Stephanie Eustice
We visited for the first time yesterday. The coffee was perfect and the food was very yummy! What impressed us the most were the staff - it was fantastic to see the care and attention given to each customer.
Jo Fildes
Love this place. Perfect saturday treat - just lovely good food - very very nice pies, cakes and bread - all you need
Slightly Crunchy
My favourite local. God I love this place. From the deliciously heart attack heaven pork sausage rolls, to the perfectly executed coffee, the location and the friendly efficient staff. When I pop down for a takeaway coffee with my baby, they bump my coffee order to the front of the queue so I don't have to wait too long. I can bring my dog and sit outside and read the paper in the sun. Always a friendly banter with the staff. If I was to create the perfect bakery, this would come pretty close to the mark.
I almost don't want to give it such a good review lest I have to battle more of Adelaide for my coffee and seat. Alas, I think this secret is already out.
Ms Udell
The best of Adelaide. Try these!. I love the rhubarb danish, the chocolate salted brick and the chicken pie... and anything they make with Quince.
Love, love, love.
M
Delicious. Friendly staff. The creme brûlée tarts were amazing! Will be going back to try more things
KC
Want so badly to like this place. Staff are lovely and friendly but so far I've not loved the food. Feel bad even saying that. Lamb sausage roll was way too greasy for my taste and pizza was just ok. Haven't given up though.
Coco
Delicious pies and sausage rolls! Especially when served with the Red Door homemade sauce, mmmm! A regular fave treat for us when in the Croydon area or want a homemade style pie!
Bianca Rucioch
Sausage roll connoisseur. The pork and sage sausage roll with chilli jam sauce is not only a marvellous hangover cure, but a yummy lunch treat. i heart queen street.
JLH
Love it! Great sausage rolls, great coffee & super sugary treats. Friendly service too. Only downside is its popularity, parking can be difficult & Saturdays sees long queues
Mr.Cakeface
Love the chocolate salted brownies, can't say I have had a dud dish, this place is great!!
Sweets Lover
Love their pastry, especially creme brûlée tart, awesome
Bojana Knezevic
Simply the best

Amazing creme brulee tart :)
Taste Buds R Us
Fantastic. Try the Pork and Sage sausage rolls, YUMMO and the tarts and the pies, great spot in Croydon. Well worth a visit
Food Freak
Mmmmm. Well, after everyone chatting about this place, on a visit to Adelaide, we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately I did find it somewhat overated and overpriced. The selection was not vast but we opted for an angus pie and a pork and sage sausage roll for my partner. I thought the pie was average, a few pieces of gristle,( not a patch on Vilis ) and my partner said his roll was nothing to write home about. Staff with fake smiles :( Clientelle who thought they were 'hip' lol. Coming from Sydney, I didn't expect to find what I'm used to, and didn't!
Justforkicks
Why the Hype?. Every time I drive past the Red Door Bakery on King WIlliam Road, I always see people outside and inside the place. I went there one afternoon and had their chocolate hazelnut tart. I have to say the filling was very nice, it was soo smooth and perfectly rich. The pastry though was a really let down. It was dry, clumpy and hard, sort of ruined it. The next time I went with my friend and I ordered I think it was a pumpkin, goats cheese, caramelised onions, spinach and some other vegetarian stuff sourdough sandwich. My friend got their chicken pie.

Sandwich
- Tasted really good
- Heaps of flavor in it
- Decent serving size
- I think a little too overpriced for some veggies in-between some bread (cost me $8.60!)
- Could have got the same or better at Un Cafe Bar or Cibo

Chicken Pie
- Pastry was just delicious, light, golden, great texture
- Filling was good, you could see everything that was in it, although it was a tad bland
- Was not worth $5+
- I've had better at Cafe De Villis

Overall I don't understand why so many people think it's a great place to have an over priced pie, which is not any better than the one you can get else where for less. The staff are fantastic and friendly, but sometimes if you come ofter the lunch rush, there is not much left. Again, don't understand why there's all the hype for some over priced pies.
Dolce
Don't understand the hype. Maybe it's because I arrived just after 2 pm. Most of the menu items were gone. We had some cold pies that didn't taste that different to most bakeries.....what is everyone buzzing on about?

Maybe I'll try it again - it wasn't bad...it just wasn't that good.
