Review Doytao Thai - Croydon

Looks like a pattern of rudeness here! Went in tonight just before 6pm, nobody in the restaurant. Waitress had a gruff demeanor and sat is in the furthest back corner of the restaurant, no problem I am hungry and guess she had her reasons. She brings us a bottle of tap water, it's cold and raining outside and my partner only drinks hot water so I politely ask the waitress if we could get some hot water please. The waitress rudely told me no, if I want tea then she boil the water for that only. I stumbled at that and she saw and then proceeded to lecture me that there is no instant boil water and that she would need to boil it and was not accomodating to that simplest of requests. So with that I got up with my partner and walked out with stone faced waitress following behind without ever mentioning a word again to me. She was more interested in watching other staff repair rainwater leaks than to offer us simple basic service. I have never been to the Croydon store before tonight as I have been a loyal customer of Newtown store for the past 12 years. I enjoyed the fact that her attitude to boil a lousy cup of hot water for my partner cost the business my good money. I only eat prawns and was also intending to order food for my lunch the next day to take to work. She saved me about $100 so I am thankful and will never return here again!

Finally! Thai takeaway that was fresh and tasty. The Green Curry was delicious. Pad See Eew perfect for the kids. I pre-ordered online which was super easy and the food was ready at exactly the time I requested.

Came here for lunch. Happy with the food. We ordered the stuffed chicken wings, spring rolls, mixed seafood pot and some chilli vegetable rice. All was cooked good as expected and was tasty. Would come back for the food. Restaurant was clean and well presented. I have given 4 stars as I feel staff could have paid a little more attention. It was not busy. Staff were sitting chatting to each. We showed ourselves to a table and apart from taking our order and delivering our food they ignored us. I didn't mind that much, as, like I said the food was good.

Feb 2021: no more stamps given out for noodle club dishes. Aug 2021: unsure why but ordering online has pickup in +1 hour time but calling in is ready in 20 min? I would rather order online if possible. May 2022: prices increased +$2 approx per dish

Very terrible customer service There’s one waitress who is always on her phone. She didn’t even notice I was standing in front counter ready to order and was rude when she took my order too.

Great Thai at reasonable prices. Flavours are just as good as their other outlets, although the veggies can be cooked slightly longer in some of their dishes (mainly the noodle dishes).

The food is not delicious after waiting for a long time, it is not worth waiting for so long

Food is always fresh and delicious. Great prices and good portion sizes. Lunch specials are a real bargain. Restaurant is very pleasant, especially the outside tables. Staff are always super friendly and helpful, even when they are flat out. One of the best Thai eateries in Sydney.

I miss this place. One of the best thai in the inner west. Gets really busy but food is great. The whole snapper dish was the best. Everyone loved it.

Way over priced for below average food. Curries are watery and bland. And if you come during the day for the lunch special they are super stingy with the meat potions.

My FAVOURITE THAI in the Inner West Croydon area!Favourite dishes are the Chilli basil stir fry with prawns & the doytao Stir fry with Chicken!
You also can't go wrong with a Green or Red Curry, and i also really enjoy their special fried rice with it's delicious soy sauce flavours. All dishes are usually perfect and their BBQ pork and beef are delicious too.Highly recommend this for takeaway and eating in, it's usually very busy so avoid peak times.

my family of four visited this restaurant on a sunday night. service was pretty good and the food was average. we ordered the aromatic soft shell crab, the yummy beef salad and a fried whole snapper (sorry can't remember what the dish was called on the menu!!). the soft shell crab was a slight disappointment, it wasn't crunchy as it was drizzled in sauce making it soggy. the salad on top of the crab consisted too much of onions and celery. the beef salad was delicious! the snapper was definitely the best dish we ordered, it was crunchy and the sauce tasted amazing!!
overall, for the price it was an ok meal, there are better thai restaurants in sydney with better food for the price.

Took me 20 minutes to drive here and what I get on a rainy monday night is terrible service and ridiculously expensive food.
Ordered padseew and some of the noodles was burnt , took very long to make it . Order the fried rice but it was dry and plain.
Ordered soft self crab and all i got was ONE small soft self crab for the price of $25-27 (cant remember exactly how much ) but it was so EXPENSIVE
I love soft self crab and normaly went for Thai Pothong in Newtown , much cheaper and much better there - at least I got 5-6 pieces of soft self crab and can share between 2-3 people
What I got at DoyTao Croydon is only one piece - seriously?
One more downside, it was a raindy night so it was not very busy, around 5 tables only and all had their food served already. But it took 15minutes just for the waitress to notice me waving my hand. The girl was too busy looking around doing nothing rather paying attention to the customers
So disappointed ! Would never come back again ! Would never eat at any DoyTao restaurant EVER!

Needing something quick to pick up for a family dinner, this fit the bill. Located near Croydon Station on The Strand, it part of the chain as they are in quite a few locations.

I placed an order earlier in the evening and they processed my order of Curry Puffs and Masman Curry (Beef Only). No rice ordered as had some made at family's home. The lady on the phone was nice.

I went to pick this up and they had my order ready which was great. I think the lady that took my order over the phone was serving me and quickly processed my payment.

The curry puffs were the softer flaky pastry type which I prefer and were delicious. The masman curry was amazing! The beef was so tender and melt in the mouth. It was probably one of the nicest Masman so I have had. Have had plenty in the past where the meat was tough but definitely not in this case. The sauce was also yummy and kept going back for more.

First time dining in Doytao Thai and it's quite a pleasant experience. Friendly service and they got a wide range of food to choose from their menu. Fair price for a suburban Thai restaurant. Generous portion. Their dishes are quite sweet, but still yum. Highly recommend their coconut saigo, with taro and ice cream dessert!

This Thai restaurant is one of a kind, they have a vegetable garden at the back of the restaurant where they grow fresh produce that gets used in their food. We ordered the barramundi, the fish was fresh and ingredients used added unique textures and flavours. However the fish was a little salty. They have wide selection of different Thai cuisines. I would highly recommend sitting outside you get a great view of the greenery

One of the best Thai Beef Salads I had ever had. Definately one of the top restaurants in Croydon. Good food, good value for money. I can't complain.

Came for lunch everything I ordered tastes better than your average this restaurant. Ordered the satay chicken and spring rolls and pad Thai chicken, the pad Thai was a decent serve. Food came out within 10 minutes and prices are decent. There is a small court yard at the back but it's not much of a view. Not a bad choice for Thai here

Food is okay but there aren't enough vegan options. How dare there only be such a minimal amount of options for me. As a white male, and a vegan, I felt extremely discriminated against. In fact, I feel like I was being treated like the minority for once. Also why are there so many PLC girls there during school hours?

Favorite Thai place to eat at. Price is affordable. Service and food is always good. Never had any issues! The pad see ew is my go to dish when I can't decide where to eat.

Pretty standard Thai restaurant. Service is friendly enough. Have gotten takeaway from here a few times, nothing exciting or revolutionary but will get you your Thai fix if need be.

Disappointing Experience. It was impressive for the first dining experience. But, 5 months later, we returned for the second time and it turned out to be disappointing. Food was not as good and the price was too steep for the quality of food provided. Never return again.

Great food. We have been here twice for dinner now. We ordered vegetarian spring rolls and satay chicken skewers .... Very tasty. The chicken pad Thai is awesome along with the chicken in chilli basil sauce. I have to agree with the previous reviewer - the masaman beef isn't crash hot as I prefer my beef to fall apart.

All in all I think it is a great restaurant and the food is fresh. Staff are friendly and service is quick.

We will definitely come back :)

Don't order Massaman beef curry, reheated old dish no fresh. Good: the 'white guys dish' Pad Thai noodle and seafood was steaming out of the wok and was fresh..

Bad: don't order Thai massaman curry that is my advice, this 'reheated' meal wasnt even hot, at least microwave it 3mins longer to it seems to be freshly made.

Good friendly and quick service, the table and setting is bit better than your vinyl asian diner. My advice is stick to to the stir fry dishes....Bit overprice in my opinion...

Fantastic Thai food at fairly good prices. Have been going here for years and haven't been disappointed.
