Review Hancook - Croydon

Meggy
Just what we needed for cold nights, nice soups. Great customer service, gave hot drinking water, topped up side dishes, waitresses friendly and attentive. The only thing to improve was to have the meals come out same time as my younger son already finished eating when my other son's noodle just arrived

So proudly say this is the No.1 Korean Restaurant I ever visit since I lived Melbourne 16 years now. As we all know everywhere gone up prices of menu in thses days and less food especially vegetables due to the recent global pandemic. But This Restaurant is so generous about food as well as quality of food is amazing. I ordered Daegu Tang. This is codfish Korean Traditional Jjigae Soup. How beautifully they use such fresh Vegetables like Minari and plenty of codfish. The choice of menus are soooooo many that Korean master chef Imonim can handle. You wouldn't regret your choice of food. If you are local or even outer suburbs Must, Must Must visit!!! This food is taste like you are in South Korea. I will definitely come back!

Ordered take away at 7pm and told to picke up 20 mins later, happy that food was ready by the time we got there. Ordered 1/2 (8pieces) Galbi chicken, Seafood Pancake, and jjang noodle. The fried chicken definitely was well done but we got pieces with lots of bones that's a bummer. Pancake was also good. The one thing that could be done better is the noodle , maybe because it's takeaway the noodle was abit overcooked and hard to separate.. It might be better to mix the sauce to the noodle and pack in the same container. And very disappointed that no condiment given :(

First try and very happy. Would recommend for everyone who love Korean foods and live around Croydon. My favorites are pancakes and seafood soft tofu hot-pot. Super delish!

Really nice place! Very affordable for multiple people with the share plates. It was pretty busy when i went on the weekend, so book before going in.

Authentic and delicious. The dishes were all so hearty and bubbling away when served, perfect for the chilly night last night. The beef rib stew meat was so incredibly tender, and ginseng chicken soup was tasty with generous amount of ginseng to restore our energy. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Hancook Yori will definately be on our list to come back to regularly.

Food is so delicious. Really busy when we arrived at 7:30pm on a Saturday night, but quiet by the time we left around 9pm. Friendly staff too. Highly recommend the chicken gyoza and hot and spicy fried chicken.
Thrive Cafe'
Absolutely delicious Korean food. Tried it for the first time after living in Croydon for 2+ years and regret not having tried it earlier. Spicy beef bulgogi and the japchae (sweet potato noodle stir fry) were delicious and great value. Will definitely be back!

We came here on a weekday afternoon for a late lunch. We ordered Steamed Mandu (dumplings), sweet and spicy chicken, Spicy Beef Ramen Soup, Spicy Braised Beef Short Ribs. The elderly lady who prepared the food was very kind and friendly. Service was quick (.. and with a smile). The heroes of the day were definitely the steamed mandu and the beef short ribs. The meat was so juicy and succulent, it just melts in your mouth. Steamed rice was a good accompaniment. The price to portion size (esp the ramen) was very good. We were mighty pleased with the food and would highly recommend this restaurant.

Greatest Korean restaurant you could probably find in this region

Great place for some wonderful Korean food! Since moving from the city to the croydon area, I’ve been desperately trying to find some good Korean food with my partner within the area and I’m so happy to know a place like this exists. We had their bbq set and it was really good and worth the money. Their stews are also divine and really warms you up especially in this cold winter. Will definitely frequent this place more often in the future :)

Food is amazing! We had honey soy chicken, bibimbap and black bean noodles for dinner. My friend and I were so full and very satisfied :) Can’t wait to come back and try out other options.

This place is fantastic. The popcorn chicken is the stand out for us. Every time we go in we try something new. The staff are friendly. The restaurant really well set out. Highly highly recommended.

Came here for a bite to eat and we had the most amazing food. Located in the Main Street of Croydon, this small, simply decorated restaurant has a lot going for it.

The menu has plenty of variety and caters are all dietary needs. Whether you’re after seafood, soup style or the chicken popcorn that puts KFC to shame you’ll find something that’ll tickle your tastebuds.

Do try the bibimap. Awesome flavours in that one with just a nice spiciness. Plus you’ll also be served an amazing array of of condiments with the meal - the lotus was deliciously tasty.

The takeaway part of the business was also doing s good trade. Anything we couldn’t eat we got to take home as well.

Staff are really lovely and the service is fast.

Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good carparking in Main Street. High chairs available.

Great service and delicious food. All lovingly prepared in the kitchen (we sat in a booth and we could see the chef cooking everything from scratch). Seafood pancake is a standout, however I wish their fried chicken was boneless. Get the bimbimbap in the stone bowl, it's much better than the standard one. Staff are very accommodating and friendly. I will be back

Hallelujah! Finally some delicious Korean food in the area! I’ve already frequented Hancook Yori multiple times because their fried chicken is 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾 The perfect ratio of flavouring/batter and super juicy and succulent.

The seafood pancake is superb but a tip would be to order it to arrive first so that you can completely finish it whilst it’s hot and crispy. Do NOT allow your friends/company pour the sauce all over it ... unless you like soggy pancakes.

The accompanying side dishes are great and the service is good.

Only reason why I rated a 4 is because their bimbimbap was a subpar disappointment.

Don’t worry the chicken alone is enough to keep me as a loyal customer. 10/10 recommend.

So good to have a delicious Korean restaurant in the area! Extensive menu and generous portions. Table gets served with side dishes even when I come as one person. I hope this place does well!

Went here with my brother for some late breakfast and had the most pleasant service, clean tables and two delicious stews. The side dishes also make it worth every penny. Will definitely come back!

My wife and I just had the most delicious combination of Korean flavours for lunch. Croydon is very lucky for having such an excellent authentic restaurant. Great value for money and friendly service. We will be back. P.S - if you are into KFC - look no further.

First time visited today for lunch with my partner. The restaurant is nice and neat, a great variety of dishes to choose from. We’ve ordered kimchi stew and pork bugogi, the portion of the dishes are just perfect for both of us, both dishes plus the kimchi side dishes are just delicious. Will definitely go back many times.

Authentic Korean Mama chef 👩🏻‍🍳Kitchen 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😋. Sitting at the rear near the kitchen, you will see the kitchen is clean and organised. A good Korean restaurant in eastern suburb.

Great service, authentic Korean flavours. They're not lying with the warnings about that spicy chicken either.. Yikes, anyone who can get through a plate of that is a bigger man than I! Will be back for sure 😃

Finally a Korean restaurant around these parts! Kimchi Jigae (stew) was pretty good! Bulgogi was tasty. Fried chicken was lacking abit of crispiness but was still pretty delicious! Definitely will be checking out more often!

Recently opened Korean Restaurant in Croydon. The restaurant is spacious and staff was friendly.
That's a shame that the table was greasy.
I tried cold noodles, spicy lamb stew and pan-fried delicacies. I loved pan-fried delicacies and it came with huge portion. Cold noodles and spicy stew are just similar to other Korean restaurant.

What a great experience HanCook was to eat at! The service was excellent and delightfully friendly.
We asked what vegetarian options they had and the lovely server recommended us what to have.
The food arrived VERY fast after ordering and it was delicious.
We ordered the Kimchi pancake, sweet potato noodles and Bibimbap. We also received 3 complementary starter dishes.
Our favourite was the Kimchi pancake, it was the perfect combination of crispy, chewy and flavourful. The sweet potato noodles were simple but filled with flavour. The Bibimbap could have used a little bit more sauce, but otherwise was good.

It is a tad pricier than you would find at other places.

I would definitely recommend HanCook!
Was excited to finally see a korean restaurant in croydon. Went on a weekday lunch.
Ordered the bibimbap -portion was average but perhaps it was cos it was served in a huge bowl?
The seafood pancake was disappointing- filled with small shrimps but tender calamari, it had too much flour and not very crispy.i regretted ordering this.

The best part of this meal were the 4 small plates of side dishes.i especially loved the kimchi and lotus.
I would love to try the bbq but the ventilation needs to be improved before i end up smelling bbqed myself.

It is a bit pricey consider one can get more delish and generous portions esp for lunch in places like doncaster east.

First visit and surprisingly great! Normally I like to back up a couple of consistent meals before a good rating but hubby insisted this one was a ripper. A usual unassuming Korean Asian type restaurant, meal photos with numbers in the window and a terribly bland interior.

But the meal!! A broth packed sizzling tasty delight ... yummo. They didn't manage to handle the concept of entrees and main, no problems though - we ended up with a banquet of ribs, soups, hotpots, sizzling pancakes, lots off kimchi, nibbles, dumplings and spicy dips.

Can't wait for a revisit. We ate before the dinner rush so can't comment on how they manage when busy.

Delicious food and amazing service to match. Every dish we had was full of flavour and did not disappoint. Potion size is generous, make sure you bring your appetite. You know it’s good when you see two little old Korean ladies making your meals!
