Review Burnt Bridge Fish & Chips - Croydon

Me and my Family was looking for lunch first time getting take away from The Crispy Catch fish & chip, The staff we're very welcoming and took my order in good time and food was cooked at it's best, potato cakes a bit small ask for 4 and got compensated with 10 Very nice fish and chips love them so that's a win win..

Got some whiting, pineapple fritters, potato cakes, chips and veggie burger. The chips were really good nice and crunchy. The potato cakes we also crunchy, but perhaps a bit thin. The pineapple fritters were amazing! Really delicious. I ordered one fried fish and one grilled, but the fried fish was soggy. We only live 5 mins from here so it must have got soggy very quickly but it was disappointing and not enjoyable. But the grilled fish was quite nice. The veggie burger was good, nothing to write home about. Probably will try other local fish and chipperies before returning (just my experience).

The grilled snapper was nice and thick and cooked beautifully. The sweet potato cakes were homemade and absolutely delicious, I was very impressed. The potato to batter ratio was perfect. Not too thick, not too thin. Didn't wait to long either.

**updated to 3 stars per owners reply** Menu incorrectly states that the lamb souvlaki is ‘off the spit’. I ordered two and arrived to find it being fried on the grill with only a chicken spit available… Giving it the benefit of the doubt I was let down with what appears to be lamb forequarter chops used due to the grizzle / fat scattered through out. The chips were crunchy but taken way too far which meant they dried out very quickly. Left disappointed having spent $34…

Best fish and chip shop hands down. Best chips, best burgers, freshest fish. South Melbourne dim sims and potato cakes are awesome. The best place to get fish and chips. These guys take it to a new level.

I've bumped up my rating from a 4 to 5 because after a couple of years of living in Ringwood, I'm happy to report, this is the best F'n'C shop in the area... Friday's are busy, but they are consistently good, decent prices & friendly staff.. Nice work!

I ordered a flake & it was like rubber. Disgusting food & I'll never order from there again. It used to be fantastic but the new owners are clueless. I have a feeling the "flake" wasn't flake at all, or it was caught 2 months ago. It was disgusting & a waste of money. My dog wouldn't even eat it.

Went for takeaway Friday evening July 31. It was busy which is understandable. After we ordered and paid we were advised of a 50 min Wait. OK, would have been nice to be told that before we ordered but ok. We came back an hour later, still not ready. 45 minutes later finally, 85 minutes after we placed the order it was ready. We weren't the only ones. Everyone waiting outside had the same story. Except for uber eats. Their orders were quick. The staff were working hard as, no complaints but the cooking process was flawed. Burgers were sitting in the warmer for 30 min before the order was called. Everyone was complaining. Anyway the order we took home was way over cooked. Fish was dry and the potato cakes were burnt, inedible. Dim sims were like rocks. Never again. Might ok when not busy but that's it for us. Oh yes, cash only!

I went there with my Dad for lunch this morning and I had a Grilled Blue Grenadier with 2 Steamed Dim Sims, $1 Chips plus a Potato Cake to the home and my Dad 2 Steamed Dim Sims but with soy sauce. We both enjoyed it. Tony was kind to us and the service was amazing.

First (and last) time customer tonight.<br/><br/>Phoned through an order and was told a 40 minute wait but had to wait a further 4o minutes after that.<br/><br/>Frustrating to see Uber Eats and Menulog orders marching out the door and drivers certainly weren't waiting 40 minutes so I am curious re the priorities.<br/><br/>Food was overcooked so not worth the 80 minute wait<br/><br/>Not to worry!

Just popped by to get some fish and chips on Grand Final Eve. <br/><br/>Boyfriend and I ordered the Calamari pack and the TCC favourite. <br/><br/>Food was ready quickly and everything was perfectly cooked! The calamari, flake and chips were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Batter was so crispy and crunchy. <br/><br/>The father and son who worked there are very lovely as well! <br/><br/>Would definitely recommend this fish and chip shop if you’re in the area! Well priced for the amount you get and the freshness of the food is on point! <br/><br/>Would recommend introducing payment by card as well, as its easier for some customers.

I really enjoyed my meal, lovely food, I had the gyros pack with greek salad, lamb was amazing and salad was fresh and the dressing was put on at the last second to preserve the salad. Great customer service too.

Great staff and delicious food (love the calamari). Please bring in EFTPOS facilities though! Cash only sometimes makes it inconvenient and we have to go somewhere else.

The present owners have made a really positive change. The best operators in more than 20 years. Cheerful service, great fish and chips always reliable good quality. Excellent!

We followed these guys when they left Ferntree Gully & I have to say, this place is worth the 20 minute drive!  The best Fish & Chips around. From their Souvlakis to their Sweet Potato Cakes & Chips right down to their fresh salads made in house.  Lovely clean shop with very friendly staff.   One of the proudly run & operated family businesses - it's obvious.  Good work Ant & John.

Well our meal was certainly crispy, in fact it was badly over cooked. It seems like the small shop can't cope with the many orders on a Saturday night. Might try again midweek.

I would recommend going here instead of The Bridge Charcoal Chicken because the people are amazing and the service is excellent also the food is good as well.

Finally! A modern, clean, friendly fish & chippery in the area.  A focus on quality food and noticeably clean business is a welcome change to the norm of the usual fish n chips found these days. A reflection of a proudly family-owned and run small business.  Keep up the good work guys!!

Great sweet potato chips & the John Dory grilled was fab! Lovely, helpful, friendly service. Clearly very popular place. Fish burger was average.

Best fish and chips! There’s an extensive menu range - fish, burgers and the best salads. Fish just right, burgers just right, chips just right. I can go on and on. Can’t go wrong. It’s my favourite place with great customer service!

I am a regular customer of TCC fish and chips. Their fish and chips is always crispy and delicious! Love the homemade potato cake as well, it tastes really good and crispy. Highly recommended.<br/><br/>There's always queue every time I go there. If you would like to save some times from queuing, you can call them to order. Also, remember to bring some cash with you. They only offer cash sales.<br/>

It was a pleasant surprise to finally find a fish and chip shop in the outer east that cooks fresh, unadulterated calamari. <br/>I'm looking forward to eating from here again. <br/>If they would stop serving unsustainable seafood and provide more inspirational fresh salads (like Tank Carlton or Fish Tank Brighton) I would say 5 stars for sure.

THE BEST FISH AND CHIP SHOP!!! Always crispy and not greasy as they use rice bran oil. Never feel gross afterwards like other fish and chip places. Best flake I've had in a very long time! Salads are fresh. Souvlakis are so good, Chicken/Lamb is good quality tender meat. And best of all...the HOMEMADE potato cakes! Big thumbs up to the crispy catch, so glad to have such a nice F&C shop close by!

Best fish and chip shop in the area. Not greasy like the rest of them and lamb and chicken from the spit is delicious. Highly recommended. You wont be disappointed.

We loved this fish and chip shop when it was in ferntree gully and were disappointed to hear it had relocated to Ringwood east. It's a 25 min drive away rather than 10 mins so we have only been able to go to the Ringwood shop once since it opened. The owners are really friendly and take pride in their food, which makes the difference. Highlights are the flake, south Melbourne dim sims, homemade potato cakes and souvlaki. Chips can be a bit on the small side serving wise and a bit dry sometimes, but usually are nice. Oil used is rice bran oil so you're not left with that greasy aftertaste in your mouth. Really clean premises and much better than your average fish n chip shop. Ferntree gully shop is definitely not the same without the previous owners running it, we really miss it!!!

Amazing fish and chips - food is absolutely fantastic. Staff are friendly and pretty prompt of serving when you walk in. <br/>Only small complaint is the last couple of orders have been wrong - is always right when read back on the phone and at pick up but what's in the box is different. Apart from that review would have been 5/5!

finally  decent local fish and chip shop!! from the friendly staff who always get the order right, to the amazing food, the price, the large menu, everything about this place is just awesome!

We travel from Ferntree Gully just to get the best souvlakis, fish & chips ever! Tony & Bianca are beautiful people as are their staff. We were very sad when they moved from Mountain Gate but will follow them where ever they go 'cause their food is seriously good!

This is a great fish and chip shop. Flake was real flake. Chips were crispy. Dim sims,scallops and potato cakes are brilliant. Highly recommend to anyone that wants a great take away and is perfectly cooked meal.Also very friendly and helpful staff.
