Review Peking Duck Dynasty - Croydon

Shell Bell
Excellent food, empty restaurant, maybe some soft music would have been good to set the mood

Absolute gem in the middle of Croydon. The best yum Cha. Great service and freshly cooked when you order. We bring everyone here

Really disappointing experience. Ordered online for pick up, once arrived to pick up the food the lady was on her phone and did not look at me once. Placed my order on the counter and started to walk away, I asked if it was mine and if it was all there, she said yes. 2 minutes after I left she had called me pack more even stating where she was from explaining they had forgotten part of the order and I needed to come back and collect, I was basically home and explained as it was there fault they could either refund or rectify themselves. Wanted a nice dinner at home turned into more of a pain then it needed to be.

Very nice Char Shu Pork and Vegetable dish. Plenty of Pork but a little light on vegetables. Ordered a large rice but container not full. Otherwise, recommend the meal as tasty and enjoyable. One of the better ones in the area I feel.

Hands down the worst Chinese food I have ever ordered. All 3 items were incredibly poor quality and not worth the money paid. Not sure why this place has high reviews, I'd give zero if I could. item 1- Lemon chicken 1. Hair on piece of chicken 2. Crack on container lid with open hole 3. Lemon sauce was very watery and practically no lemon taste 4. Chicken was not freshly fried. It has been fried on a previous occasions and then reheated. Item 2- Beef black bean 1. Very oily 2. Meat very chewy 3. Vegetables overcooked and very soft Item 3- Fried rice 1. Not fresh, has been previously cooked and reheated (possibly from yesterday) 2. Very dry

We have eaten here for a long time, tonight we had take away, crispy pork with noodles and veg. Pork was all fat, no meat, no crisp to it at all, the noodles were stale and the whole dish was thrown out! Very disappointed!
Peiching Kuan
Over rated, not an authentic peking duck. It was roasted duck but not the crispy skin peking duck. Portion was small. Their duck fried rice was ok but portion is too small

Simply the best, wonderful service and beautiful fresh food. Me and my mates always come here for the all-you-can-eat, and let me tell you they NEVER disappoint. Crispy pork, peking duck, the fried rice, everything is beyond perfect, I want my children to remember this place and always remind them the quality food beyond the Peking Duck Dynasty doors and smell the wonderful aroma once you walk through. Well done Peking Duck, well done.

Could not fault this restaurant, the food was brought quickly and was hot. The meals were a good size and extremely tasty. The waitresses were very friendly and polite, will certainly be going back and will recommend to anybody that asks. Good value.

Amazing food, great service, very reasonable prices. Kids loved it as much as I did. We will be going back

We ate the 'all you can eat yum cha' it was delicious. Great choice of dishes and all served fresh. The service was very good and we will definitely be back for more.

A Mother's Day yum Cha disaster. Arrived at 12:00pm, it's now 2:30pm and we have received about 10% of what we ordered. The little food we received was not the full order. The 6 spring rolls came out as 4 etc. the food itself was cold and incomplete. Massively understaffed and completely out of their depth. All the tables around us were also furious, and two tables walked out due to the wait and lack of service. Have decided to leave ourselves, as the owner said it will be at least another hour before we will get our food. Such a shame, ate here once before and it was good.

The food is amazing, fresh, hot, can't fault the service, lovely people, I will go back.

We had a lovely dinner at Peking Duck Dynasty and could not fault the service, the waitresses were friendly and helpful. The restaurant clean and bright. The food was fresh, hot and well presented definitely going back.

This place is a hidden gem. Discovered it from a Groupon voucher and have been back multiple times for the great value and the fantastic food. The yum cha menu is extensive and they cook it fresh when you order it. No bain marie's with old food to make you sick, or question what it is. Large range of vegetarian options for the hubby. They even made their Singapore noodles vegetarian for him which is a HUGE plus. The highlight was definitely the molten custard buns. We have eaten many over the years but these were without a doubt the best. Will go back many many times
Choc Pudding
Went here using groupon voucher. Was very impressed with duck soup, that was the best soup I ever had in restaurant, generous with meat and mushrooms, tasted just right. San chow bao was really nice as well, very tasty. Fried rice was amazing, although can’t say portion was big. The funny thing is that their peking duck in the pancakes were soggy, not crispy at all. A letdown when they are peking duck restaurant. Will be back for other dishes though.
Edited: bought some takeaways during lockdown and tried their special fried rice and pork chop with peking sauce. Found that fried rice was good but probably not as good as the duck fried rice one. Pork chop meat was rather tough, but the sauce is beautiful. But overall price is expensive for portion.

Definitely a hidden gem, you can’t go pass the unlimited yum cha all you can eat buffet for under 30 bucks, which also includes all your favourites Peking duck, roast pork and much more.. definitely work visiting regardless where you are located, you will be full and completely come back for more!!
I Love Food
Dined for dinner. I ordered the shanghai pork dumplings & prawn & pork dumpling with ginger sauce for entree, shared the cantonese fillet steak with vege fried rice for main. On the menu the beef is advertised as sizzling, it came on a hot plate/skillet but there was no sizzling to it which was disappointing. The overall temperature of the beef & fried rice wasn't very hot which again was disappointing. Overall food was very average tasting. No atmosphere in the restaurant, only a few other tables occupied. Service was very slow & inattentive but when the lady did come over to us she seemed friendly. In the entertainment book so good discount off the bill.

Come for the daily fresh roast duck.I hear they churn out 150 ducks daily in the back kitchen and supplies to other restaurants.Fragrant and not too fatty duck-a must try for duck lovers.$33/duck take away.

Frozen dim sum.. just taste like mush.. Peking duck was more like braised duck.. lacking in flavour overall but you can add chilli or soy sauce yourself

Cant quite give it 5 stars but would have given 4.5 if I could. Service was efficient. All of the food came out timely which is something not usually associated with a Chinese restaurant. Having the san choy bow was a refreshing take and the deep fried ice cream (with the orange peel/zest) - loved it! Unfortunately not really peking duck but not having to spend time wrapping my own duck - timeless :)

Came here alone when I was in the neighborhood for business purposes. The menu wasn't pricey!

The taste was tasty as well. Even the portion is good. If I am in the neighborhood again, I will definitely come back.

Very good service as well. Worth the money that I paid.

Wonderful dining experience. Wide variety of food and the Peking duck was one of the best we’ve ever had. Food was very tasty and the staff are super friendly too. Can’t wait to go back and try the all you can eat yum cha.
Sarah
Tasted great but spent the next 16 hours vomiting with food poisoning. I know it was from the take away I got from here because the only other stuff I had eaten was a packet of chips and Vegemite on toast.

Came here on a Groupon and really enjoyed the meal with drink included. Attentive and friendly service, and very generous amount of food. Duck soup is one of the best we've had (and we've sampled this at a lot of other restaurants!) - thick with mushroom and duck. Sang choi bao were tasty, peking duck pancakes had a good amount of duck meat as well as skin, and fried rice was delicious. Finished with choice of any dessert - the only let down in the meal, as the batter on the banana fritter was a bit thick and doughy.

Decor, crockery etc were more upmarket than at many suburban restaurants, and special mention for the chopsticks that were great to use, not the typical clunky plastic ones. As if this hadn't been enough food, we're planning to go back soon to try the all you can eat yumcha!

I'm not sure what I was thinking coming to this place after reading all the bad reviews but it was the only restaurant in the area to serve Peking duck, which I normally love. Unfortunately the Peking duck wasn't quite as good as I had hoped and the selection of dumplings I ordered ranged from bad to terrible.

I wish I could say something good about the service, but the service was slow and there were mistakes with my order. I was also surprised to see boxes of mess and household items stored on some of the tables, presumably because the extra tables are never required.

I should have ducked out early.

Got a Groupon and had an amazing 5 course meal for only $80. Came with 16 pieces of Peking duck, shredded Peking duck soup, San Choy Bao, Chinese tea/champagne, duck fried rice and a dessert for everyone. Only had a bit of extra starch in the soup, but it was incredibly good.

Our experience was quite bad and we won’t be returning. Although the food is fairly cheap if that tickles your fancy. The service was ridiculously slow, we waited 50 minutes before we got our drinks and that was after we had to ask where our food and drink was. When I was eating my spring roll, I found a hair in it which was very off-putting! Our entrees also came out about 10 minutes apart which was just awkward. The service continued to be slow, they seemed very overwhelmed by all the Uber eats orders they had coming in but our very little attention to their customers inside the restaurant which was disappointing. The sweet and sour pork we had was quite good but everything else was only average. One of the waitresses was really lovely but that was unfortunately the highlight. Will definitely not be returning.

We tried duck soup, duck pancakes and fried rice with duck. All very yummy! Generous serve as well. The waitress is super friendly and attentive.
Having returned from my second visit to Peking Duck Dynasty I'm happy to report that the food was outstanding both times.

As duck is their specialty, and one of my favorite foods, I had high hopes that this would be a good choice. And it was.

The meal began with duck soup. Honestly, it's the best I've had since leaving China. Served steaming hot, with micro slivers of duck skin, black fungus for taste and texture and bamboo shoots in a slightly sweet but mostly savory soup base. Some might find the initial sweet note unusual, but give it time and allow the flavor to develop, and I think you'll agree that the soup is totally moreish.

The next course was san choy bow. A well balanced mince of duck and finely chopped vegetable presented on neatly trimmed lettuce discs and topped with a generous sprinkle of pine nuts. Probably the most expensive nuts on this earth and these delectable morsels had been adorned with about a teaspoon over the pair.

Next followed a plate of beijing duck, already prepared into pancake parcels for the diner's convenience. Whilst the duck skin wasn't crispy, it was very tasty and each parcel had a generous slice of duck enhanced by their special sauce. Accompanying this was their duck fried rice. Once again, delicious.

The deserts are quite average but that's not why I came. The duck is the hero here.

Service is enthusiastic and friendly but be prepared to wait for your menu and meals. They only had one main server both evenings I was there, and she was flat out. They could definitely use another person but it's probably an overhead they can't afford so I'm prepared to be patient and wait, as I can see she's doing her best. There can be some noisy exchanges between staff as orders are relayed to the kitchen etc but that all adds to the character of a typical chinese family restaurant. The restaurant decor is pleasant enough although it could use some finessing.

If you are considering visiting this restaurant, expect to wait but it will be rewarded with a delicious meal.

Did someone say good quality all you can eat yum Cha? Yes!!!! We'll be back!
Came with friends and our family of four - kids 5-10 pay only $10.
It was sadly quiet - but that made for very friendly and efficient service for us! We ordered our first round, barely got through it all and we were offered more, then as the waitress cleared our plates she asked if we'd like any more again, something sweet perhaps?
We loved the Peking duck pancakes, duck San choi bow, calamari, prawn toast, steamed dumplings (prawn, scallop, prawn and chive...), pan fried dumplings, fried rice,, honey pork, crispy pork belly (yup, that's included too!), fluffy BBQ pork buns, crab claws, Chinese sausage rolls (with Chinese sausage, not hot dogs) and ended with fluffy steamed custard buns... even the spring rolls were goooood, and we probably had more but I'm in such a food coma I can't remember so check out the photos...
It's a bit of a hike but well worth it - fresh, delicious, plentiful and friendly! We can't wait to go again!!!

Cheap meals we ordered off the lunch special menu but food didn't have much flavour. The Peking duck was a little over cooked and chewy but overall was an okay experience.

Fantastic and friendly service. Couldn't fault the food, very authentic and delicious. The dumplings were some of the best, would recommend the special fried rice. Thank you!

Came for the all you can eat yum cha. Staff were friendly, but we did wait 10 minutes before receiving a menu. Food then took another 30 mins after that. It's cheap and lots of variety of foods to choose from but most likely won't be back.

Popped in to try the all you can eat yum Cha.
Fabulous service and very quick service.
We tried 12 different dishes, the pork dumpling was average but the rest was very enjoyable
Great value for your money.
Definitely worth a try

Had takeaway from this restaurant on a Friday night. All meals were tasteless and poor quality. $11 for fried rice that had no seasoning whatsoever, lacked any vegetables and was gluggy. The container was only 3/4 full and when you pay that price you'd expect it to be a more substantial serve. It also lacked the standard vegetables e.g. Carrot, onion and peas and instead had cauliflower and mushrooms ?authentic, I don't think so. The honey chicken was inedible (see picture) and was chewy. Singapore noodles were oily and bland. Spring rolls also had no flavour. The order arrived promptly but unfortunately the food was a complete fail.
Gina
Friendly service but meals took a very long time. Dumplings were delicious but chicken curry was awful.
Noodle dish just so so.
We saw the duck dishes on another table and they looked good. Maybe we made poor choices.
