Review Yen's Restaurant - Croydon

New to the area so trying local takeaway. Well that was the worst Chinese I've ever had! Food court Chinese is 100% better. Ordered satay beef and lemon chicken. Satay??? Looked like a mushroom sauce, beef was not a normal, not a hint of satay flavour to be found, no mild spicy heat, no peanut flavour, just bland and sickly. Lemon chicken... Well the chicken was normal but the lemon sauce, it was just yellow water with the slightest hint of lemon flavour. Where was the thick sticky lemon sauce we are all use to? Just tasted wet. Never again. I actually feel alittle sick. Straight in the bin with most of it. One of the best parts of Chinese takeout is having the leftovers the next day. Extremely expensive for flavourless wet meat. Should be No stars

The quality of dishes here is excellent but the thing that says them apart is the fantastic customer service. It's a bit of a drive from us but we keep coming back here because they are so consistent.

I ordered Singapore noodles. I was served a salty, lopsided nest of white, oily rice noodles, amongst which were seven shrimp, two concrete oblongs of tofu, some julienned onions, flecks of scrambled eggs, and a few lengths of green capsicum. The key ingredient of Singapore noodles is curry powder which means the noodles should at least look yellow. This dish was so paltry and flavourless! Making Singapore noodles without curry powder is like making toast without bread. This dish should also be spicy (it wasn’t), have carrot (it didn’t), and be tossed with bean shoots (didn’t have them either). This dish was remarkably appalling. This is suburban Aussie Chinese food at its most embarrassing.

Yen's is definitely part of Croydon. Always been. Restaurant as such doesn't look exactly great, but surviving Covid was probably hard enough. However, we had a good quiet time, with plenty of tasty food. Take away is available too. Just call they deliver. It's not a bad choice for dinner.

We get our weekly Chinese fix from Yen's Restaurant and we cannot fault it. Meals are consistently delicious - even our toddler loves Chinese night. Highly recommend.

Attended on a Friday night but very quiet. Thus attentive service by a friendly young waitress. Food good and prompt.

Ingredients in portions sub par, highly lacking. Ordered fried rice had barely any ingredients the won ton soup was less than edible and the lemon chicken sauce was half the amount it should of been Never again!!!

We have been getting takeaway from Yen's for over 10 years. They offer a fabulous gluten free menu and have the yummiest sweet and sour chicken.

Overpriced small portions. We ordered the banquet for 5 people and the serving size was enough for 2 people. Very long wait time for dishes and we were the only ones in the restaurant. Will not be back.

Lucky the fried rice was ok because it was the only edible dish that we ordered.
Very bland, soggy and over priced, we won't be back there again.

All time favourite place! Most incredible food every single time. My family and I have become regulars to this restaurant. We always get the fried rice, chicken and cashews and a few others. This place has never disappointed with quality of the food or the service that comes with it

Food wasn't terrible, but there's better close by for the same or cheaper price. Noodles were quite dry and flavourless.

Friendly staff though

Not impressed, food was very salty and you couldn't distinguish between the meat or vegetables because of it. Rice was cold and with only 5 people in the restaurant including us,it was a very long wait.

Have been here on numerous occasions, a great local restaurant with consistently good Chinese food! I usually order the lemon chicken and it is delicious. The staff are always very friendly as well.

Excellent choice for a casual and satisfying dinner!

Long time diner. Absolutely love Yens Chinese!
The waitresses are always so kind and attending. When the night gets quieter you will always see the owner come out for a chat.
The food is delicious and comes out in large portions. I am gluten intolerant and am always catered for. You can ask for anything that's to on the menu and it will be made for you (I recommend the salt and pepper chicken)
Don't be afraid to make yourself at home at Yens because that's the way they will make you feel!

Excessively overpriced. Horrible, dry food with no taste. Tried it for my bday based on reviews. Totally disappointed. Embarrassed at my choice of restaurant. Never going back.

Yum!!. Came across this restaurant on the way home from a friends place and was very impressed! Service was very good, waiters were very attentive. The food was delicious as well! We had the fried rice, a beef dish and the lemon chicken. Will drop by here again when I'm in the area!

Went here on a whim and was pleasantly surprised by the food and service. Ordered the lemon chicken, fried noodles and the chicken and corner soup which was delicious. A friendly man came out to greet us and ask if all was ok..found out he was thru owner and I didnt think service like this still existed!

I've been here many years and the fried rice is always a winner! Dishes are also very tasty..! I request for less oil and they happily oblige. the sweet and sour pork is delicious.

Always going back!. Really love this place! I've been here with family for many, many birthday nights and have never been disappointed! Food is good, sometimes a little oily, but generally very flavoursome and good! We asked our waiter for food that wasn't on the menu and the chef inside did it anyway! Impressed!

Everytime I have been here the food has been amazing and it is reasonably priced too , To the critics that say the food is oily or nothing great go to a fancy 5 star restaurant if you want perfection , this is one of the only places that I have been to on a regular basis that serves the same quality and freshness in food , Delicious

Super fast on takeaway, lovely man to take orders on the phone and very yummy lemon chicken! Try it
Out!

Hideous!!! Oily flavourless and not fresh ingredients. Don't do it to yourself.

Mediocre Suburban Chinese. Wasn't that blown away. Food was edible but nothing outstanding just your run of the mill suburban Chinese. Service was OK but nothing earth shattering. If you're in need of something Chinese and in the area then do your self a favour and head 5 minutes up the road to Jade village
