Review Jing Jing Thai Food - Dandenong

Michael Clark
Amazing delicious Thai food! The BBQ pork skewer tasted exactly like how they taste in Thailand street food stalls. Also the omelet was a nice light healthy alternative to mostly rich Thai food. I've come back 2 times since moving to the area already and so far it's one of my favorite Thai restaurants. Also staff are very warm and welcoming.

Authentic thai food. Dine in environment is top notch. Ambient environment and warm lighting. The building is quiet small, best to book a table in advance. The food is scrumptious. Balanced serving portions. The service is welcoming. I'd definitely recommend it for small gatherings.

First time trying take away tonight and I specifically asked for no chilly in both my dishes. Just received my order with chilli mixed through and unable to enjoy it. I really wanted to give this ago as my usual Thai place is closed on Mondays. Such disappointment. More attention to details needed.

Very poor service with mediocre food. Surprised at everyone saying they like the food. Ordered 4 dishes and they are all thrashed with so much sugar they all just taste sweet. To make things worse, they now have a new girl at the counter who’s got no interest in actually serving customers. (Maybe she was just in a bad mood :-/

25/5 :) Wow, where can i start, my partner and I really enjoyed dining in tonight, the atmosphere is great and reminded me of Thailand. we had a great experience and ate great food paired with awesome customer service from the lad at the front, although the food was a bit on the pricy side i thoroughly recommend this restaurant!!

Follow up the reply : I hope you could understand that we didn’t want to write down this review initially but the staff who were handling this incident was totally irresponsible and just let us hanging there without taking initiative to contact us. On 10th May, we found we’ve been charged twice from one order, my husband, Douglas, called the store and received the response that those extra payment would be refunded after few days. We were waiting for one week for this refund but nothing really happened. Hence,My husband contacted the store again and got the response that they will follow up this ASAP please be patient. Waiting for another week, we still haven’t seen any fund in our account in regards of this payment. We went to do grocery shopping and myself went to there in person to follow up this payment and apparently the supervisor was aware of this event and rang my husband afterwards that he will process this payment ASAP. Waiting for another three days , I rang the store and realized that this payment hasn’t bee processed!!! From all consecutive events that I’ve mentioned above, I hope you can understand our thoughts. I sincerely wish your parents will be getting well soon. However, staff who has been assigned to be a supervisor in charge all matters occurred in the store would might need take this matter into account to reflect the way he managed this. In regarding the taste of the food, we were had that night, we felt the dish was way too much heat and too sweet and that’s why I left the review here. Honestly, we dine in three years ago and food was fantastic. After three year, we revisit this restaurant and all we had was frustration and disappointment Honestly, Jovan show me the order, which were two order and didn’t cancel one of order at all. I read some of staffs issues from other reviews. You should look up what happened in your team as opposed to disappoint your customers here. Food not as tasty as before, we Ordered food from their website , the website took our payment twice. Contacted the shop for this double charged payment. They kept using other excuses to delay refunding our money back. It’s only $97 dollars!!! How can it be so difficult to refund our money back!!!! They said the owner is in oversea so it could take a while to receive the payment which is nonesene. Could you open your account without having bank account in Australia?????? Would it be normal to proceed refund by waiting for almost 1 MONTH!!! They said would need to talk to their supervisor Ivan when he come in the store but when I said I can come to the store to clarify the whole situation and they changed their statement that the supervisor actually is away….. I would totally say to people, stay away from this store and Don don’t use their website to order any food as you would end up losing your money

I could give more start by pre-order service ruined it. I asked the waiter if by any chance they still serve boat noodle. It used to be on the menu. The waiter (male) politely said he will ask the kitchen team. To my surprise, a girl from the kitchen just yelled out "what is that? and gave me the look? I just said im surprised you do not know what boat noodle is. It was even on your social media page. The waiter told me that oh she is new. The kitchen girl keep staring at me. Maybe the owner can train the new staff first..

Fantastic tasting authentic thai food, fast and friendly service and very reasonable prices, my favorite thai place in Melbourne thus far. The mint chocolate shake with REAL mint was something else, great job ladies! Will be back again.

friendly and helpful staff. food is excellent. didnt even have time to wait and food was served. very cosy atmosphere and decor, albeit limited spaces avail, hence booking in advance if needed. have a whole range of vegan and vege/pesca menu which suit our diet. definitely visit again !

3.5

Been here a few times with my colleagues , service is good and the food quite nice

We have tried the pad Thai , pad se ew, the crab fried rice , tom yum noodle soup and green curry

The fried noodles and rice are done well, I found the curries a bit too watered down with too much coconut milk . The tom yum soup is yum but missing that kick , boat noodles the same

Delicious!

Sometimes pad Thai can be a bit too sweet but it’s the best Thai food around dandenong

Authentic Thai cuisine that satisfied our cravings. The papaya salad was a knock out dish and we couldn’t stop eating it. We also loved the pad Thai which was flavoursome. We also got the chicken and pork skewers and Tom Yum noodle soup which were good. The drinks with condensed milk was really sweet and came in cute traditional bowls.

Came across this restaurant whilst staying in Dandenong for work. Small amount of tables inside so recommend to book even on a weeknight. I ordered the pork skewers which were satisfying portion, but wouldn’t share unless you shared with someone else who ordered an entree. The Tom yum goong soup was full of flavour and satisfying serving would recommend ordering. Also had som tam salad which decent size serving and another great dish which was full of flavour and fresh.

BLOODY DELICIOUS! SO glad there’s finally a great Thai restaurant in the area. Everything is so flavoursome and fresh, how it’s meant to be! I’ve been a few times and tried a few different things and it’s been good every single time. If I had to fault ONE thing, it’s that the menu can be confusing.

I was craving a good Thai meal and I don't enjoy commercialised Thai. I found this place which had quite an authentic thai menu. I was reccomened to try the Massaman Curry special and I can tell you I was not disappointed that is one of the best Massman Curries I had. I'll be back to try more.

We usually avoid eating Thai food in Australia as we are always disappointed when comparing the meals we have eaten all over Thailand but this little gem turns out the most authentic flavors outside of Thailand. If you are in the area you must try it, you will not be disappointed if you love Thai food.

JING! JING! Who’s there? A damn ripper Thai restaurant that’s who. Thoroughly impressed and thoroughly satisfied. This place is a diamond in the rough. Fresh clean tasting food is what Jing Jing serves up. The pork and chicken skewers were so tender and so delicious and the pad Thai and pad see ew we equally as good. They skimp on the rotti but hey can’t have everything right? Definitely worth a go. Can’t wait to have it again.

Had late lunch here today and ordered the chicken green curry and one pork bun. The pork bun was too spicy for us, so definitely only for spicy lovers 😂 but the green curry was large in portion and defs recommend to share between two people instead of just one. Prices are good in comparison to other thai restaurants. Cheap for bigger portions and delicious food.

Service was great! Staff were really attentive and food service was not a long wait.

I wish I took photos of our meal! I guess I was too excited to pause to take any because the dishes we ordered were too irresistible! I absolutely love the menu here and the concept of the restaurant. Everything is about quality, flavours and healthy options. We ordered the skewer combo and kao tod. I would definitely come back again to try more of their menu, especially their vegan options.

Lovely little place tucked back off the main road. Lively service, fresh food and good eating choices. Menu is well set out and explained for you to make the right decisions.

This is a hidden gem in south-east Melbourne. Amazing Thai food, lovely staff, great vibes. My favourite is their Thai poke bowl, and I honestly don’t think I’ll ever get sick of it! I would highly recommend this to anyone who’d like to try some delicious Thai dishes

This was one of my little secret places, but has been getting extremely busy for the lunch time rush. My fave meal at the moment is a rice soup with pork belly. Ohh I entered a business card lucky dip and I actually won a $100 voucher!!!! That was pretty exciting.

Decided to try this Thai restaurant located in the south east and left with absolute satisfaction. Ordered the green curry, Tom yum goong, Thai pork sausage and some recommended chicken dush (sorry forgot the same). All were well prepared and tasted absolutely delicious. Authentic taste of Thailand. I will definitely be back again to taste the other dishes. Cheers to the friendly staff And chefs!

Food is extremely authentic and delicious in flavour. Restaurant seems quiet but that could be due to location. Been here several times and each has been the BEST Thai I’ve ever had!
Customer service is outstanding also!
Will drive from Frankston to get this Thai!

Tried this place on Cup day as the fish and chip shop was closed. Fantastic menu and quite a cute place. Very friendly and great staff. I had the satay tofu but the capsicum tasted funny. My partner had Tom yum which he said was lovely. Great watermelon, lime and mint juice.

Would have rated higher if my satay was better.

We will return to try more of their extensive menu as al the dishes I saw looked great.

Came for dinner and got the best thai foods so far..we ordered 1 drink, 2 entrees, 2 main meals and 2 dessert, none of them disappointed us...definitely will be back to try other dishes in the menu...hubby needed to make his roti with milo dessert as take away since he was too full...but we stepped out with happy tummy...really value for money too..

Was delightfully surprised to find this restaurant. Buried away in an area you wouldn’t expect such a trendy and vibrant restaurant. The food was great, and a twist to the standard Thai restaurants. Everything looked great which made it that more appetising. The crab fried rice didn’t have that much crab but was very tasty. The entrees were a bit pricy for the quantity, wouldn’t get the soft shell crab entree again. There’s a lot of great looking options to try and would return again. The service was great and the food came quick (but we were the only ones there). Advice to the restaurant would be to introduce some more sharing dishes like curries and stir fry’s.

Food Taste: 4.5/5
Food Offering: 5/5
Value for Money: 4/5
Customer Service: 4/5
Cleanliness: 4/5
Ambience: 4/5

Always a favourite place to go to for authentic and flavoursome Thai cuisine. A very friendly and relaxing atmosphere with flavoursome food that caters for vegetarians and vegans as well which can be hard sometimes to find a place that offers yummy yet authentic food.

Also great for those who are health conscious as they do also offer gluten free dishes as well as brown rice and glass noodles over the usual white rice and rice noodles many restaurants typically only offer.

Their red and green curry are packed full of flavour with subtle hints of fresh basil and coconut milk - if you like sweet curry they are a must. Definitely would recommend trying their pad Thai noodles and crab or chicken fried rice any day!

Staff were super friendly, food was amazing, and it was rather cheap. I would highly recommend any of the rice dishes, or any of the curry dishes. Both were stand outs to me.

A decent thai eatery in Vic southern suburb. Tried 2 dishes there and were both good. Waiters were friendly and food came in a reasonable time. Would definitely be back to try the curry.

Awesome service, and really tasty food!
Thai can always be a bit of a mystery to some but after you go here you’ll be set on Thai food forever!
Recommend the Chicken Pad Thai as well as the Chicken Fried Rice!!

We had a basketball tournament to attend so I googled restaurants in the area. Jing Jing was a little hard to locate initially (Google maps) but well worth the persistence!
This place is located on the outside of a local shopping mall... but don’t let that put you off!
Once inside, the decor has a funky and cosy vibe (more like Fitzroy or St Kilda) and the staff are really attentive!
But the best thing about Jing Jing is.... THE FOOD!!! OMG this is the best Thai food I’ve ever had in Melbourne!!
Not your standard Thai fare, although you’re sure to find some of your usual favourites.
The vegetarian Thai red curry with chickpeas was to die for. (We loved the Kent pumpkin with the skin still on.)
Best of all was the choice of rice available- Jasmine rice, coconut rice, brown rice and super rice with quinoa!

We left satisfied and feeling good... ready to hear back to the stadium for the next two games, full of energy!!
Will definitely be back.

Tip: book ahead! This place is popular and for good reason
Fabz17
Had the chicken satay w/ coconut rice for around $15... and it was the best damn chicken satay I ever had!!! Satay sauce was soooo good and the chicken was so juicy and moist, rice and salad were also great. I can’t wait to come back!!!

IF YOU HAVEN’T BEEN HERE, YOU SERIOUSLY HAVE TO GO! LIKE RIGHT NOW!
THE FOOD AND SERVICE IS A•M•A•Z•I•N•G!

Their menu is really diverse and the owners are awesome!

We found this place by accident - driving around the area. I wasn't expecting too much because it's location was hidden away from the main road. I have nothing but good things to say about Jing Jing. Great little shop, friendly staff members and such incredible and authentic Thai food. THE BEST IN THE AREA. Only opened for 6 months, but the owners have done so well! Decked out with creative wallpaper and pretty neat menus that resemble catalogues with pretty awesome tunes. It is also reasonably priced. We will definately be back!

It's different Thai. And yummy and for that i give it 4. Service was friendly but my food wasnt what i ordered and the waitor didn't understand me and everything came out really slow. Won't stop me from going back and thing again though might've just been one of these nights and super cool menu

I’ve been coming to Jing Jing every now and then since they opened and if anything, they’re always improving. The service has always been top notch, being greeted with a warm welcome and the food leaves you extremely satisfied. The menu caters to both meat eaters and those who prefer plant based meals. All dishes are equally as delicious. I’ve still yet to try everything on the menu but I’m getting there.

Best Thai place I have been too in Dandenong !

Very pleasantly surprised but this restaurant. Will be back again soon!

I had the chicken green curry -was so flavorsome

We were pleasantly surprised to find Jing Jing hidden away in dandenong ! Extremely yummy authentic, fresh Thai cuisine, good service and yummo desserts ! We’ll be back!

A big fan and a go-to for my lunches. Love the crying tiger salad with additional chilli. The service is always incredibly friendly. The mushroom and veggie spring rolls are awesome too. I've tried the fish cakes, they make them from scratch in the store, they are a little potatoey for me but still good. All food fresh and tasty!

Truly a hidden gem! Fresh ingredients and generous portions. Was intrigued by nam prik as it is something you don’t normally see on other Thai restaurants’ menu. We were also amazed that they have an extensive vegan menu. Too bad we were too full, otherwise would have loved to try the desserts. Will certainly be back to try!

I had dinner at Jing Jing last night and had a fantastic dining experience. The host was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was nice, the food was amazingly delicious and the prices were affordable. We will be going back!

We were greeted by the most friendly waitress who was very informative with both meat and vegan menu options. Food was delicious and plentiful, we opted for the pork belly rice soup and the satay tofu with chicken poke bowl. Will definitely return 👌🏼

Food was amazing not to mention the lovely staff, although in a secluded location I would definitely call this a hidden gem. We ordered the Green Thai curry which was beautiful (may be too sweet for some people). Pad Thai was full of flavour - a combination of the wok and sauce flavour was prevalent in every bite.
Would definitely recommend as a place for cheap but amazingly delicious eats.

Amazing thai food! Food was delicious (came out super fast too) and the service was amazing! Staff were really attentive and the vibe of the overall place is great! Definitely worth coming by to try!!

Food was absolutely delicious and the service was just unbeatable! Friendliest people in town and clearly passionate about their food and service. Highly recommend the salads, the thai milk tea and the lemon iced tea (such unique flavour!). Desperately wanted to try the gorgeous looking desserts but was devastatingly too full from all the other dishes we had.
Mavis Tan
Tasty food, fast service and a very warm welcome from the waitress! Food - green Thai curry chicken a lil too sweet for my licking, prefer salty and spicy but partner likes it less spicy. Som Tum, was all good, decent size and big prawns. Tom Yam Gong, decent flavour prefer it spicier. Overall I would come back again to try other food.
Kim
Amazing food, great service, great prices. The red curry and mango sweet sticky rice were stand outs for me. I also liked the durian sticky rice but would prefer it without palm seeds for ethical reasons. They have a separate vegetarian menu with a vegan section. The place is a bit hard to find as Google gave us a few diff addresses but it's near woolies across the road from hogs breath. Will definitely return.

The new menu is amazing, lots of variety. All dishes are extremely tasty. Definitely will recommend.
Must try signature dishes. The staff is very friendly and welcoming.

What a friendly and welcoming environment. These hosts will bend over backwards to make you happy. Great menu, heaps of choices. I enjoyed a pad thai, a generous serving real comfort food. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

Been here a few times. And absolutely love the food. The new menu brings a lot of new flavour. The service is always great and the food is always yum

I went to try the boat noodles. We drove half an hour to get to Jing Jing. When we arrived the waiter gave us menus and we ordered... then found out they took it off the menu!

Had the pad Thai instead and it was nice, but I was pretty disappointed about the boat noodles :(

Friendly service

Best kept secret Food is always fresh. Flavours are more in line with traditional tastes on some dishes. Which we love. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Even chef will come out and check if you are happy if not flat out. Once we discovered this little gem we now would visit twice week..Highly recommended. First try wont be you last.

We got take away. Big order over $100 and not even a free roti or the drink listed on the menu you get for free if spending over $45. The food is very tasty and fresh ect. Well priced mains but found to be on the small side serving wise. I'd rather pay more and not be left hungry. Husband said his green curry only had 1 piece of chicken in it. My dish had 5 prawns. That being said we will deff go again just order more now we know it's on the small side. The vegan noodle dish I chose for my kids because it did not have chilli as an ingredient and even said non spicy dish was that hot it had my tongue on fire so they wouldn't touch it.
JL
Very friendly service from the islander-looking girl. Nice food. Quick and easy. The chicken wings are huge. Value for money. Much cheaper than the "$50 for two" categorisation. Good for a quick feed stop, or regulars coming here to just sample everything on the menu one day at a time.

Great tastes found here!
All sweet, spicy, sour, and salty.
Welcoming, friendly service - for lunch and dinner; which is much needed in the area.
