We first tried Uzbek cuisine when we were in Dubai and we absolutely fell in love with it!

We couldn't believe it when we found out Melbourne had the most beautiful restaurant on our door step.

Uzbekistani pallaw rice infused with cumin - the Uzbek version of their own biryani mixed with chickpeas and a fruity touch. Sambosa with soft, golden pastry filled with a meat filling infused with Uzbek flavour.

Not only does this hidden gem offer the most beautiful Uzbek food in Melbourne. The atmosphere is so romantic and ethnic with beautiful Afghani, Uzbek rugs and decor. Marble table tops, royal seating and traditional music to set the scene. šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡æ šŸ‡¦šŸ‡ŗ ā£

We will definitely make the drive over from Roxburgh Park to Dandenong in the future!

The food here is delicious and the value for money is outstanding. We had the banquet and couldnā€™t have been more satisfied. Canā€™t stress enough how good the kebabs and the rice are. The dumplings (not traditional dumplings but even better) were so tasty. Could not fault any of the dishes that make up the banquet. The service was genuine and friendly and the ambience warm. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting authentic food with authentic service.

The best Afghan restaurant in Melbourne by far. A group of us went here and ordered the banquet and aside from having enough food for many meals to come (thank you for the takeaway!), the taste of the dishes is what makes this place the best. The rice dishes are so tasty they could easily be eaten alone but all the dishes we could not fault. I would highly recommend the eggplant and the kebabs. This is truly a hidden gem!

Whilst on a solo work trip to Dandenong, I utilised Zomato to find somewhere for dinner and decided on Pamir. The food was plentiful and tasty, the waitress friendly and the decor noteworthy. A combination of factors that make Pamir a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommended.

Second time visiting this very friendly restaurant within the heart of Dandenong. Portions were delicious as well as generous, and the customer service was extremely helpful and polite. Very cosy and will recommend this to anyone wanting to grab a quick bite or for anyone looking to have a little celebratory function.

We went to this place as a large group on a Friday evening and had the banquet served in a buffet style.
The place has a great ambience and the food is of excellent quality. The lamb and chicken skewers especially were Ā soft n juicy. The breads that came were fresh and soft. The wait staff greeted us with a smile and were quite accommodating throughout the evening. The place is a BYO.Ā I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wishing to eat Afghani / middle eastern food in Dandenong. We would love to be back at this place sometime soon!!!

ā€œRidiculously deliciousā€¦ā€¦one of my all-time favourite restaurantsā€. Have been here a few time, it is compulsory if I am in Dandenong, no matter with friends or solo. A lot of beautiful options which are tasty and fresh! An iconic place. The design speaks a lot about the place! Friendly staff and delicious food motivates to come again!

As very picky person, I am not usually satisfied with the quality of the food. But Pamir Restaurant could make a difference and truly deserved my applauses and appreciation with the exceptional quality food and costumer service. We had Mix Kebab platter consists of sliced and minced Lamb, Chicken kebabs and fell in love with it. Especially the Chicken Kebab is just Magnificent. Would recommend everyone who is after delicious food and friendly atmosphere

If you have read my review on Al Rahimi Restaurant in Dandenong, then you will know how much I love the cuisine of Afghanistan. And living just 5 minutes away from Lonsdale Street, it was high time I had a review of Pamir up on the blog. Dandenong is quite an interesting suburb in terms of culture and food. Itā€™s diverse and colourful; we truly practice ā€˜live and let liveā€™ down here. Afghan food has a huge presence here, with plenty of restaurants and takeaways lining the Afghan precinct and also on Lonsdale Street.

We had chicken & lamb kebabs which were juicy & tasty, the prawn curry which was mildly spicy & included green vegetables. The lamb samosas were fresh & fragrant and were complemented by the dips & salad. The bread was very fresh. Overall it was filling but without feeling heavy and too full. This left room for dessert & the honey cake went well with a cup of peppermint tea to finish. The service was friendly & quick as there were hardly any people there.

We came here on recommendation by some friends and reading reviews. Pamir is situated upstairs on the main shopping strip in dandenong. Taking two fights of stairs up to the second floor, you enter a restaurant decorated with traditional artefacts, flags etc. It's quite a cosy family restaurant and has a very comfortable atmosphere.

Once we were seated we decided on banquet number 2 as we didn't know what to choose. First came fresh bread with three dips, two yoghurt based and one tomato based. I really enjoyed the tzatziki and the mildly spicy tomato salsa. They tasted fresh and was a great appetiser. They also came out with two serves of fresh tomato and cucumber salad with a light dressing.

Next came the dumplings, they were covered in a delicious tomato sauce and garlic yoghurt and the filling was a delicious spiced minced meat. The meat was delicious and moist and the wrapping skin was nice and soft.

Then came the mains.

Starting with a huge plate of lamb biryani, it consisted of a rice, chickpeas, sultanas, delicious marinated lamb pieces and various spices. It was delicious and with a mild enough taste that it could compliment all the main dishes that followed.

We were served a steamed eggplant with lightly fried spiced potatoes under it. The eggplant was so deliciously soft and fragrant, some of us didn't realise what they were eating. It was covered in a nice fresh tomato sauce and garlic yoghurt topped with a mixture of fresh herbs like coriander, dill and parsley. Presenting a bunch of carnivores like this group was going to be dicey, but everybody loved it. It was so tasty, we hardly thought about the lack of meat in the dish.

Next came the meat ball kofta. They were large round meat balls sitting in a fragrant tomato based sauce served with green peas. The meat balls were perfectly cooked and so soft you could just break it into pieces with your fork. Needless to say the kofta and accompanying sauce were quickly demolished.

Next came the chicken and lamb skewers. We had one each and each skewer had maybe 5 or 6 decent sized chunks of meat on them. Both chicken and lamb were both marinated with different delicious spice mixes and cooked perfectly in either coals or a really good flame. The meat was so soft and fragrant, they came off the skewers easily and were thoroughly enjoyed.

After attempting to finish all the food, we were pleasantly full, with only a little biryani left. The servings were generous and everything tasted fresh and home made. For the 45 dollars we paid per person we felt it was a very enjoyable dinner and a great introduction into Afghan cuisine.

I know one thing for certain, I'll be coming back again for those dumplings.

We discovered how scrumptious and delicious Afghan food was a few years ago when we decided to visit the Afghan town of Dandenong, where there are an abundance of Afghan restaurants to choose from. Ever since we had our first taste, weā€™ve never looked back! Ā So I wanted to share one of my recommended restaurants to go to if you are ever in town or wish to try out the cuisine.

Pamir serves up authentic Afghani food and they don't disappoint at all. Kebabs, dips, pulao and the salads. Everything was incredibly amazing and tasty. In a group of 5, we ordered shish kebab, kabuli pulao, chicken biryani and mantu!! The afghani dumplings (mantu) do not disappoint a bit. Juicy mince coated with yummy yogurt and chilli masala powder. Yummzow! The kebab was incredibly roasted and succulent and the biryani was par excellence. The only let down was the kabuli pulao which was sweet and wasn't as flavorful as the rest of the food on our tables. We also tried the vegetable kebab for a friend which were smoky.
Pamir is a MUST visit!!

After searching for somewhere completely different to venture for a family dinner, my sister and I were happy to agree on Afghan Pamir Restaurant! The restaurant has recently moved to a new location in Dandenong, and going by reviews alone, has been very popular and successful, serving up delicious food.

One of the unusual dishes was the Mantuu ā€“ Afghan steamed dumplings, made from pastry, and served like a big ravioli. Interesting texture and flavour, we can only explain it as being a fusion of Asian dumplings and Italian pasta. It was genuinely a unique experience for us ā€“ and while we're not completely sold on this dish, and probably wouldn't make a special effort to go back just so we could have it again, it is really quite unique and we'd be happy to eat it again. I guess you have to try it once, right?

THE BEST MOTHER'S DAY EVER!!!!!. Me, my family and our family friends 15 people of us have been invited to the restaurant. We are even didn't know where we are going. It was my husband choice. He wants to spoil me. I've been only once in Dandenong this is my second time. I've never been uzbek and Afghan. but we are glad we did.the place is amazing, from entry to dine in decor very traditional set up, beautiful tables and chairs. We are ordered $40 banquet meal which was excellent . we are trying to ended up but manager said to make a space for desert. There was few options , gulab jumun and honey cake with lovely ice cream and complimentary fruit platter. they are also have $35 banquet as well as four main course selections and lots of a la carte options. The belly dancer was the best surprise for us, she also involved a crowed to dance everyone start dancing there was no space even do dance. I think they need to extend dance floor))) it was a good fun and best Mother's day for us. My parent really like this place. Service was good, and all in a great food and unforgettable night.out with the family and friends. The best host. Highly recommend this place to everyone. only bad thing the are a bit far from city.))) but for event doesn't make a difference a distance. Looking forward to come back next month.

It wasn't even my birthday!. It was my brother's birthday. He chose the restaurant and he had eaten there before. We ordered about 5 main meals to share amongst ourselves and everything was fantastic. Okay, there are plastic tablecloths. But the way some of us eat they are a necessary evil. If you are in doubt ask the waitress what to order. The dumplings are beautiful. The kebabs sensational. Highly recommend it.

Very good experience. Looking for something different, went for dinner last Saturday with wife and the whole experience was above expectations. We had banquet 1 ($35) and all the dishes that came were very good. Started with the salad, then the bread and dips, rice and a meat dish and then the kebabs on skewers. Service was very friendly and professional. There was live music very appropriate for the time and the environment provided by a lady with a beautiful voice. The decor may not be modern but we really enjoyed the experience.

Dandenong is full of awsome Afghan Kebab shops, and this one is my absolute favourite. Have been coming here for many years & love the new restaurant look. Old restaurant was more basic style, but now since moved to new location, restaurant has a fantastic traditional feel with beautiful hand made furniture which gives the true Afghan feel & mood. The food as always is fantastic & highly recommend the banquet, which gives a great mix of rice, entree's & Kebabs of course! Family owned busisness, being served by lovely owner with a smile, whilst her husband does the awsome cooking. Quality food for a reasonable price. Highly recommend this place

Good solid Afghan food. We had a very nice lunch today. Delicious food. However, the bread was a bit of a let down though. The last time we were there, the bread was nice and hot, fresh from the oven. This time, the bread does not appear to be freshly baked, but just warmed before serving.

Very Delish and Worth Coming Back For. We have been to Afghan Pamir three times, 1st time when it was still in the old location in Foster Street, and twice when it relocated to Lonsdale Street. Still the quality of the food remains excellent. We came initially to dine out of curiosity after the restaurant featured on Tv shows "Postcards" and "Coxy's Big Break". Always have ordered the $35 banquet which in my opinion is more than adequate for a moderately hearty eater, as it features ta complete meal from entree (mantou) and naan bread, salad to the much anticipated pilau rice with barberries and the sensational chicken and lamb kebabs on meter long metal skewers.
The manager and his sons were very affable and cordial to us and after dinner, offered to show us the private dining areas, which are furnished in traditional Afghan style with couches and cushions on the floor and meals served on low tables. They said that these rooms are ideal for parties or conferences, but that we could eat in them if we so wished next time.
The restaurant is located on the second floor (next to Dandy hotel) and you need to climb up 2 flights of stairs, which may present a bit of a difficulty for those with mobility problems .
Definitely we will come back again, hopefully with a larger company to help polish off the wonderful food.

I love this restaurant. I live in the city and happily travel the 40 or so minutes it takes to go there. Indeed I was there twice last week. The chicken kebabs are to die for. The chicken, chickpea korma was divine. The service is always friendly (father and sons) and they are extremely obliging if you have any allergies/intolerances... Yes. It is on the more expensive side but I'll keep coming back.

Wow! Spicy delicious food.. Four of us had dinner here Saturday night. None of us had eaten Afghan type food before but we all loved it. Efficient, helpful and knowledgeable staff make this place a standout. We had all ordered separate meals but our waiter kindly informed us we'd get more food and better value with a banquet. One of us is vegetarian & this was very well catered for in the menu. Save room for the glorious syrup soaked dough balls - AMAZING. Will definitely go again.

Great Food, Great Place. Very authentic food with fantastic service to boot! The boys there are very friendly and don't mind a chat which makes you feel comfortable in their restaurant. Value for money is a plus. Guaranteed you will walk out there with full bellies and full pockets. For the amount of food you get is huge, so I suggest girls, stay small because its tasty filling food that you just cant stop eating. We went for the basic banquet and finally got to the meat course and thought "Oh My!" A place I will go back to time and time again, even takeaway is value! However they are now on Lonsdale Street!

Great food and lots of character!. We just had a business luncheon there. The food was amazing, flavourful and extremely varied. We had a banquet at $20 a head that would've easily cost twice that elsewhere. The restaurant in Thomas Street, Dandenong, is full of character and may appeal to the more budget conscious, but you would never know this, going by the food. Waitstaff are attentive and reappear, tableside, often. If you aren't a princess and enjoy great food in a real setting, Parmir Afghan is the place for you...can't say enough about the food. BTW they are moving to nicer, larger premises in January 2012.

Great Find!. We went to Afghan Pamir last night, and I was blown away.

From the minute we walked through the door, we were greeted warmly and treated very well. Our waiter asked if we had any questions after we looked over the menu, and after I told him that I don't eat lamb, he recommended other dishes that were just as good, but didn't have lamb. We went for the $38 banquet because it included dessert and a drink. It was a lot of food, and all of it fantastic.

The food was quick to arrive, and the meals were so delicious. All tables start with a salad, home made bread and yoghurt dip. Then came the chicken Kofta, and then the veg dumplings, then the eggplant and potato Borani which was excellent, and then followed by enormous meat skewers. I had the chicken and my partner had the lamb. As well as all this food, the table had a huge plate of their lovely fragrent rice. This rice is like nothing you've had before, it is so soft and light and smells amazing. We asked to take home the rice we didn't eat, and she came back with a full container telling me she "put a bit more in there". So nice!

After all the meals were cleared, we needed some time to rest out stomachs before dessert, so I was glad for the break, by then the place was completely packed, with work break-ups and large groups. This place draws in a crowd, and for good reason.

The dessert came and it was Baklava and Gulab Jaman with Ice Cream. I have never really tried Baklava before last night, but I gave it a go, and it was great. You really need to have it with ice cream because it is so sweet!

Overall, the friendliness of the staff was outstanding, the meals were tasty and plentiful for the amount we paid, the meals were quick and you were constantly asked if everything was ok (a personal fave of mine). On leaving and giving them my feedback about how great the meal was, I asked if they are open for lunch, and they said they are and the Banquet for lunch is $20, but you just get a little less, which honestly, you will need at lunch.

Highly recommend this place. It was fantastic and eye-opening. You won't be disappointed :)

Great Experience. My first Afghani Experience, was very impressed by it, we had a banquet that had alot of new and intresting dishes, there was a very nice Dumpling followed by a variety of kababs and rice and curries. Our table ordered the banquet (both the meat and vegetarian ones) food was delicious and plentiful! Only let down was the vegetable korma which consisted mainly of cauliflower and was a little bland. Also we went on a Sunday night to was a little quiet and atmosphere lacking but definitely recommend to someone wanting to try something new.

I like learning about new cuisines and new cultures. But I do admit a tendency to lean towards either East Asian or European foods. So when it was brought to my attention that a really good Afghan restaurant was reopening its doors in Dandenong after a relocation, I decided to head on down. I know next to nothing about Afghan food. So I can't tell you whether or not it is authentic. Judging from the reviews of Afghan Pamir Restaurant however, it seems that it is quite authentic. All I know is, I went with no expectations, an open mind and a hungry stomach, ready to experience a cuisine and a culture that was new to me. Afghan Pamir Restaurant had relocated from an inner street to the main street of Dandenong. The trade off seems to be that instead of being front and center on the ground floor location, it is now housed upstairs with a tiny sign above a dodgy looking stairways. As I started clim
