Review Bikaner - Dandenong

Open Roads
I ordered Vegetable fried rice, once I opened the container that was a horrible smell, no vegetables in the fried rice. The girl at the counter gave very poor service. Not sure if it has changed hands but I feel that the food quality has dropped and also the service.

Total waste of money, rude staff behaviour. I ordered Dosa, Horrible Dosa in taste, smell and texture. Overall experience hilarious.

Worst quality food aloo paratha was completely uncook and thick layer of raw flour

What a variety of sweets these guys have.. amazing.. I like most of their sweets.. Bengali sweets are the best.. have heard that their restaurant is also nice, but I haven’t tried the hot food there.. I’ll update my review later if I happen to give it a try..

I've come here a couple of times, service has been good, and the food has been great although I find their price of chaat dishes slightly high (paid 14$ for 6 piece pani puri dish) but the remaining dishes are reasonable. The waiting staff are polite and take your order promptly, never had any issues with them. Their sweets are the best in Dandenong.

Horrible, terrible and what not.. ordered chana bhatura which was over oily plus undercooked.. then veg thali.. the curries were cold plus full of cream. U can say dal was less nd cream was double, mix veg with foul smell. Naan was so thick that u could see the dough itself undercooked.. coming to aloo prantha which was not at all looking like a prantha.. it was thicker undercooked dough with just a teaspoon of aloo.. we ordered 3-4 things just in a hope may b one will b good but what a waste of money and health.. we were sick wen we were back home coz definitely everything was uncooked and stale.. go at ur own risk. Specially dnt go of u r reallt hungry coz u can’t rely ok them really..

We had lunch and ver happy with the service. Veg as well as non veg curries were amazing. Though the restaurant was quite busy but Simran who served us was so friendly and quick with always smile on her face.

Not at all value for money!!! Prices don’t match with their online uploaded menu on website such as zomato, which is misleading. When you pick up food you pay more to what they are advertising online. It is a shame. Chicken Tikka Masala curry had no gravy at all. It was bit salty too.

★★★★★ just now

What are you doing Bikaner.? From a long time customer. Just ordered a Lamb Vindalooo and 4 Garlic naan at $20. Got home and got only just curry and 5 tiny pieces of lamb. When I rang up. I was told its not right and that they will give me a proper meal next time I go there. No I decide to go back to the shop and was told that Management had said to only serve 5 tiny pieces of lamb per curry and can't do anything more. Got my money back and promised they will get management to ring me. ( I doubt they will unless I write this. To Management If you are trying to make money why don't you charge a bit more like $12 rahter than serve your customers 5 tiny pieces of lamb that you could hardly see.

So the true question is will management call back to explain why they have such a silly policy that could potentially break their business.

Where all the flavors gone??? It used to be one of the best places for Indian food. But previous few experiences are bad and today's was horrible. Did take away kadhai chicken curry today. Could not even finish one bite. It's definetly the worst curry ever had in my whole life. It was not cooked and flavorless. Even one star is lot. I am surely avoiding this place in future.

Been here twice. The first time it was a takeaway and the second time we dined in. The food is tasty. Love the sweets from here. Staff is friendly. Would definitely recommend this place to other people.

This place does flavourful curries that is just sublime! We ordered 4 Naan bread with butter chicken and lamb korma! The sauces for both were really fragrant and the meat was tender! We were really impressed by the lamb korma as the meat was really pull apart tender unlike some other Indian restaurants where the lamb is tough and chewy. The only small criticism we had was that the naan was a bit undercooked in parts as it was a bit doughy in the thicker parts.

We also got the gulab jamun and gelibi from there amazing display of desserts and they were delicious also! This place will become a must stop for us after a shopping at Dandy market in the future!
Good Food Good Mood
We ordered some food from Bikaner for a party last night including a big tray of yummy samosas which came with a delicious mint sauce and a tamarind one for dipping. We also got two different types of barfi Indian sweets which proved very popular. The samosas had a bit of a kick to them so the accompanying sauces worked very well to temper the heat. Definitely a great place to go for authentic food

I ordered Indian food here and I found it quite disappointing. The dhal lacked in flavour which indian food is well known for. The rotis however were good

This place we visited and also took our friends and visitors in the past and the staff are very well coming and polite. Food is faultless and tasty.Keep up the good work all you guys do.God bless

We ordered 2 chicken biryanis on friday and it was so NOT WORTH IT. For 10 bucks you'd expect for the portion size to be good but nooo it literally had 1 small piece of chicken and many onions. We got the biryanis replaced and still no improvement. The taste was bland as well. Absolutely NOT recommended.

Bikaner Sweet & Curry Café, located in Little India Dandenong, is a no-frills restaurant that produces authentic cuisine from the north and also specialises in Indian sweets. In my limited experience of Indian cuisine, I found the dishes to be much the same flavours as I have had in the past which I enjoyed however definitely no wow factor!
Tigers_eye
The food here is fantastic! Butter chicken was my fav, but I enjoyed all the dishes to be honest. Friendly service too. I will definitely be back.

me and my wife love this food.... its value for money... authentic Indian taste... every weekend we buy from them... Really improved in the last 6 months & one of the strongest contenders in the competitive Indian market in Dandenong. Lovely staff I must mention also!
McFoodie Jones
Another gem in Dandenong. Flavour full, fast and cheap Indian food! Do not let the casual and simplistic style fool you - give it a try! As an Indian myself - I love the ridiculously cheap thali and fresh masala dosas, not to mention the Indian sweets... I am literally salivating! Really improved in the last 6 months & one of the strongest contenders in the competitive Indian market in Dandenong. Lovely staff I must mention also!

•Follow me, McFoodie Jones, as I explore Melbourne for hidden foodie treasures to stuff my face with•

Love the food here, have been about twenty or thirty times. Not the most fancy decor but the curries are really good and very reasonably priced. Will keep going back.
They make good Goat Curry with Saffron Rice, also good Tandoori Cutlets and Tandoori Chicken. It is good for take away, but not for an eating in Restaurant if you are looking for a decent table, service and surrounding. However, price is reasonably cheap and as such it can be rated as good value for money.

Its being a very unpleasant disturbing and uncomfortable environment as got treated unfairly being non indian person as ma order hasn't showed up for half n hour but the people who even ordered after me n ma wife were got served straight away people stare at us which is very uncomfortable feeling so we just left without food which hasnt showed up on table and no1 even came to explained about food delaying i will never come to this n never prefer n e 1 to go
Thnx

Very un inviting..
Cold and unpleasant atmosphere

Have visited alot of indian restaurants
And that place isnt on the list of where to eat

Only list it would go on is worst restaurants in the world !

I cannot speak to the sweets / desserts they sell here, but I can vouch for the wonderful curries and breads they make.
Conveniently located near the station, this is the best eating experience in Little India.
The service is efficient and friendly, the vegetarian options are great, and the prices are very affordable.
Anyone going home on the train can easily call them up at Springvale, with plenty of time to get off at Dandenong, grab your food and be back in time for the next train.
Eating in is fine as well. The restaurant is simple, but it gets busy, particularly on Friday nights and On the weekend.
Anyone who has enjoyed the other restaurants in the area and loved them will enjoy Bikaner even more
Darren English
Great food, a good price and conveniently located near the train station. Bikaner offer the best Indian food in Little India in Dandenong.
Vegetarian offerings are quite extensive and importantly tasty.
Don't be put off by the fact the restaurant is typically full. That is a good sign. The place is worth the wait.
If you're picking up a meal on the way home, Bikaner is the place to go. I typically phone the order through 15 minutes out, hop off at the station, and I am back in time for the next train.

absolutely fantastic food. good value for money. been coming here for last 6 years and i have never been disappointed. you must try the channa bhatura. it is the best.

Had a lovely meal at this place, well priced and very tasty butter chicken, chicken korma, lamb rogan josh with naan, rice and a range of sweets for dessert. My new gem for Indian food.

Would definitely visit again!

We visited this place on 7/4/17 and ate our brunch there. The food was just ok. However we got a few sweets and jalebi as takeaway. The jalebi was the 2orst I have eaten .it had a velery bad oil smell and was stale. We did not taste it at the restaurant because when we were having our meal...it saw a big plate of jalebi being brought out from the kitchen and assumed we were given the fresh ones. I called the restaurant and spoke to Sushma who advised that it was made a day before and that we could take it back. We live about 15 kms away and didn't want to waste more time and petrol in having to take it back and threw out the kilo of jalebi. She said she ciuld mot send someone as well. Needless to say we are never visiting this restaurant ever again. If there was a score below 1 ....that would be the score I would give. The other sweets were not good either...perhaps because psychologically I felt that they were stale too

I just wasted the food (I hate wasting food but this was beyond my tolerance), time and money here!! Literally few minutes back and I'm writing this.
This is the absolute crap I've ever had!!
Ask any Indian if this even remotely tastes like Indian food and the instant answer would be a NO!!
I do not understand how this place managed to get the ridiculous 3.5 rating and my trust on Zomato is sliding way right now and I'm furious for the bad Saturday dinner mess up.

We ordered shahi panneer, they had used the same paneer tikka masala and added an overdose of sugar.
Next up - Garlic naan had store bought garlic paste jut slattered on it. Garlic naans are supposed to have fresh garlic not preserved paste!!
And next after that - Jeera (Cumin) rice!! What a joke!! Colored rice with just plain jeers strewn over (it needs to be sautéed with butter/ oil, chillies etc..).
Consider throwing your money in rubbish than going here!!

You're welcome!!!!

Enjoyed a nice authentic Indian meal at this restaurant this evening. Ordered Lamb Rogan Josh , Chicken Tikka ,Naan & Channa Bhatura with Mango Lassi . All very tasty & reasonably priced. Will definitely come back

Don't get carried away by the name. I think it is obvious that this is not the original bikaner from India.

My review is based only for sweets. Tried gujiya, jalebi and 3- 4 different kids of cham chams and gulab jamuns. All were pretty average and not fresh. The smell of refrigerator had got onto the Sweets so you can make out that they are not fresh. Even otherwise the prepared was pretty average and not at all worth the price they are charging.

Best Indian I have eaten in years! Amazing staff and service, And all for some of the lowest prices I've seen! Cannot recommend highly enough

Modest fitout. No fancy ambience or service. Value for money kind of place. Reccomend Goat Tawa. Do try sweets too. Reccoment kaju katli..

I haven't had a curry this good in a very long time , ordered the goat masala with plain naan and it was magnificent . Flawless . Got some takeaway deserts afterwards which this place looks famous for .

Great food and Services. I have dined with my family and friends at this restaurant. The food is really good and the staff are friendly.
The restaurant has also bought the shop next door and have expanded.

The person who was complaining about service and food is just doing I out of spite...i can see that the Same person has left 4 different comments and all are negative.

The food is Northern Indian. It is tasty and best accompanied by their freshly made bread. However, what really transported me back to India were the sweets. As their syrup oozed in my mouth, I was again in a Gujarati village, attending a day of wedding ceremonies. The ceremonies were attended by the entire village. Every girl in the village aged between 8 and 16 was being married. As the village was a poor one, they did marriages cost effectively – all at once! The pre-pubescent girls did not go immediately to live with their husbands, but the rest did. It was certainly a day of high emotion, lots of colour with all the brides in red saris, and mountains of food.

Great food. Had an amazing lunch! Food was outstanding, perfectly seasoned. Goat vindaloo was beautifully tender and baingan bharta was smokey and delicious. Service was friendly enough and made us feel welcome.

No Dish is Good Here. AVOID this place..Pathetic food

-----16 Dec, 2014-----

Pathetic Customer Service and bad food. I recently went to this (unclean) eatery and regret it!!!!
Very very dirty floor. It was sticky and slippery to the point where my wife almost fell.
The customer service was terrible and so was the food.

Disappointing. Had an appalling experience at Bikaner sweets. The food was only average but to top it all their customer service was incredibly disappointing. When I asked if I could have another tea bag because their tea was too sweet for me, they told me I had taken a few sips of my tea, and should have complained to them at first sip only. I apologised and said I was happy with what I had. Never going back to them.

What happened?. This is our favorite take out place from the dandenong area but tonight was not good...
We went there in the late afternoon and ordered a couple of chaat items for dine in and then some curries and sweets to take home. The chaat items were tasty and fine but when we got home and ate the curries for dinner, that was truly a shock. I ve never stopped eating something because it was that salty. Absolutely disgusting. The sweets were also very poor. What happened Bikender? You are usually a great cheap eat!

Great food and cheap! Its a small cafe', nothing fancy about the decor but the food is delicious. Our new indian place! The only fault is the sweets which are disgusting but then again, India isn't known for their sweets.... I'd highly recommend it: $18 for a meal for 2 people, cant go wrong!

No secret anymore. This little shop is a true "diamond in the rough" basic layout with the most incredible food, price is way to cheap for the quality of cuisine, I have dined here many many times in the past, every dish is superb. If you are ever in the area, then this restaurant is a MUST.

Yummy. Loved this place! It was brilliant! Though I wish it was a bit closer. The food was great, cheap and tasty. Very busy so either book or be prepared to wait or get take out. :D
