Review Young Uncles Cafe - Dandenong

Adriana Caldero
I have seen good reviews and nice photos of the coffee, so I decided to give it a go. Unfortunately The girl who was serving looked like she was more than unhappy to have costumers at 1 in the afternoon, didn't even asked if i wanted my coffee on site or take away and just serve me on a disposable cup. I didn't pay attention if she or the other girl prepared the coffee but it was made careless, no design on the latte, the beans may be good quality but it tasted as the care that was put on making it, pretty regular. I don't think I would go back.

By far the best coffee shop in and around Dandenong! Trendy interior, St Ali coffee, quick service and yummy food! Love the sandwiches with the delicious meet from their deli next door, or salads if you’re feeling like something lighter. Highly recommended!

I haven't eaten here but I usually grab a coffee. Their house bean blend is amazing! I drink espressos and it is one of the best coffees I have had. A must visit!

Joke of a cafe. Staff stood around too busy talking to one another to even acknowledge they had customers waiting. After 5 minutes being ignored on 2 occasions on the same day, i left the store without purchasing anything. Would never suggest this place, youre better off walking to the plaza!

I was very excited to try this after a google search and as i was near by i dropped in and purchased a beef brisket burger and a chicken cranberry quinoa salad, the beef brisket burger nearly broke my tooth it was so rock hard, iv cooked it and know its not ment to be this way its supposed to be tender the rest of the burger was yum but there also wasnt much beef in it i couldnt even stab a knife in it! I gave it to my dog and she was eating it like a bone!! Iv only given you 2 stars because the salad was yum but a little bit over priced for the size. I even brought some stuff from the uncle small goods next door and the was super dry and tasteless too. I may go back for salads but not the meat!!

Great spot for a quick bite for lunch, the brisket burger is the winner. They also serve St Ali coffee so its also my go to coffee spot.

2 eggs done right with bacon in a brioche roll makes a heavenly breakfast!

Prana chai - best chai ever - made the proper way - fresh spices brewed with milk & honey - YUM - I'm addicted!

If I go there with a friend we can't hear each other because of the loud music even if we are the only ones there. Today there were very loud construction works at peak times. The owners could have asked them to stop for a while. Not going back

Easily one of my favorite cafés around... I thoroughly enjoy coming to Dandenong with my Mum knowing I can go here for lunch!

Great coffee, great food, great service! Will be back.

Thank you to the Young Uncle staff for helping me with my last minute morning tea for the office. Really accommodating and super lovely attitude.

Excellent customer service,:excellent Coffee, and the onsite produced small goods are unmatched in quality. The only drawback is that the seating area is very small however the sidewalk seating area is lovely during the warmer weather.

These guys are making great sausages, yet still have time to do the coffee right.

Here now at 3:28pm on a Tuesday and they are closed. Disappointing

I came here because i was told the brisket and pulled pork burgers are the real deal.
I was not disappointed, the meat is smoked next door by their brother shop Uncle's Smallgoods. Both brisket and pulled pork meat were juicy and tender, just how it should be.
I will be coming back to this little gem when i'm in the area again.

The coffee was tasty but unfortunately the almond croissant was stale, and the vegetarian burger didn’t hit the mark. There was a generous slab of haloumi but it wasn’t cooked and was cold in the middle. There was also far too much pesto. That said, the prices were good and with a few tweaks it’s got potential.

Been here twice now. Both times the coffee has been amazing & staff are excellent! Very friendly & would highly recommend. Cute little deli next door too, which is a nice addition :)

If you need a quick lunch option then this is the place. Sandwiches and salads are made fresh daily that wont break the bank. Ask for the burger menu

A little gem in Dandenong.
I came across this cafe by noticing the line of people out the door waiting to order their coffee.
Specialising in take away coffee and food options i tried their cuban sandwich and st ali coffee, both hit the spot the cuban was delicious and value for money and the coffee was made perfectly.
I will be coming back again
Coffee is great however the $10 minimum to use my pay wave card means that I will never buy my coffee from here. Sad really. Get with the program management and change this policy or you will lose customers!!

Cute little cafe at the top end of Dandenong. Baguettes are beautiful, salads are nice too. Coffee is good, service can be a little hit and miss at times.

Great coffee, delicious food and good service. Love this place, there are so many things to try for lunch, the Italian Melt is delicious, smoked chicken fantastic. I need to go back and try more meaty delights!

I love the set up and all of this store but I wish the coffee was consistent! Your selection of food and drinks are great but you guys could use some training in the coffee department. None the less keep up the great work!

A great addition to Dandenong, If only it was open on weekends. A coffee when waiting in the deli to buy some luscious smoked meats would be wonderful.

Cute little cafe in Dandenong. Its hidden away but has great branding and styling. Almost misplaced in Dandenong. Coffee is great and the best ive tried in Dandenong. A very simple breakfast and lunch menu found in the cabinet. Food pretty basic and I would reccomend made to order! The girls on staff are so welcoming, nice and lovely.

Love this cafe! So hard to find a cafe in this area that does great coffee, lunch and snacks but these guys have definitely got the whole package. Will be returning.

Excellent city quality coffee, FINALLY in Dandenong area..!! Their food is pretty good too.. The brisket burger is freshly made and to die for.. Great staff and friendly service.. Need a bit more space as it's quite busy closer to lunch time. AND WHY ARE YOU CLOSED ON WEEKENDS???

I reluctantly tried this cafe, I wish I didn't.

I ordered a $8 ham & cheese roll, it was disgusting.
The ham was clearly bought from Coles the cheese was plastic cheese from Coles also. They haven't described the items clearly either, I'm allergic to mayonnaise and tomato I asked them if any of those were on the roll that said no, these rolls are pre made and sitting in a display refrigerator with little signs saying what's in them. Not once was mentioned mayonnaise or tomato.

I had the roll toasted, if I would've known it was going to take 20+ minutes to arrive in front of me I wouldn't of ordered it.

Once I received it, it was severely burnt.
I took a bite of it thinking it was going to be amazing for the $8 fee. Little did I know I'd be having a anaphylaxis reaction moments later. Lucky I had my epi pen.

Moral of the story is, the staff needs to be more competent, it takes more then a pretty face and a man bun to run a business.
I Love Food
LOVE their Prana chai - so fresh and natural and good to enjoy a chai that is made the real way a chai should be made. Their salads, rolls and sweets also look very good and fresh daily but never tried as I only go here daily for my chai fix.

Just down the road from the local council office this small cafe is quite popular with the local lunchtime crowd. First there was Uncle's small goods then Young Uncle's opened next door and they incorporate some of the deli products into their sandwiches and wraps. They also make good coffee.

I went there for lunch recently and I really liked the vibe, there are not many cafes like this in Dandenong. I also liked the choices on the menu, and I would really recommend trying the cuban sandwich and the chocolate brownie. However, they have some room for improvement on their coffee.

This is the best coffee in Dandenong. Hands down. I drink it almost daily and am never disappointed. Wish you were open over the weekend too!

The smell of the smoking meats are sooo good!
One of my top choices for coffee in Dandenong - I was lucky to have a skilled barista those times. The choices of hotdogs are exciting and delicious.

I really want to like you, Young Uncles but your slow service drives me crazy. Coffee depends on the barista, I average 1 out of 4 cups as being good. Your quality ingredients are appreciated, but with other local options and only 30 minutes for lunch your staff need to start working with some decent customer focus.

Great coffee, great service. This is my favourite coffee place in Dandenong, and what's not to love about it! The coffee is great, the first name basis service is spot on, and the cauli & quinoa salad is amazing.
Now to add some vegan options.....

Hidden Gem in the heart of Dandenong. Finally, inner city Melbourne quality coffee has arrived in Dandenong! not to mention, beautiful salads and amazing, big sandwiches with incredibly fresh meat, sourced from uncles deli next door! Thank you Uncles!

Hip and groovy, great food in Dandenong. I have been to Young Uncles several times and have never been disappointed. Great coffee, salads are different and awesome and the pastries are yum.

Dislike!!! Went there first time last week also is last time. The Coffee taste horrible!! The milk over heated, coffee is sour. Haven't tried any food yet, but wont come back and waste any money again.

Awesome to get a bit of hipster in dandy! Boutique/craft coffee, good salads and yummy baguettes the hanging vases with flowers in the window r a nice touch.

Best coffee!. Just the place Dandenong needed, everything I eat here is super fresh and good value. The 5 senses coffee is by far the best in the area.

This cafe is still finding it's feet in terms of menu, price and portion size. Off to a good start and the recent additions are great (i.e. toasted sandwiches and freshly squeezed juice). Coffee is inconsistent but could be from the barista learning the machine's nuisances. Has so much potential to be the best little coffee shop in Dandenong.
