Review Fiji Cafe & Sweets - Dandenong

Haven’t tried Fijian snacks before but if the offering here is anything to go by, they’re amazing. Tried a range of fried bites but the cassava and the taro leave roll are standouts. Will definitely be heading back soon to dine in.

Had heard so much positive reviews about the place and surely did not disappoint in my first visit. Food is great reasonably priced n good portion n also sharable. Place also has a nice Fiji vibe with the masi interior design theme. Nothing short of home food for those Fijians missing home Keep up the great service n quality food

This place serves Indian/Fijian food at a very reasonable price. Visited here for the first time with my Fiji friend and it didn't dissapoint. Ordered Chicken Pulao, Cassava, Roti, Lamb Curry and Masala Tea. Chicken Pulao: Very good in taste and the spices combination were perfect. Cassava: Tried for the first time and in was very good. Only thing was it was cold. Roti: Roti was soft but it was cold probably was made beforehand. Lamb curry: This was the best dish out of all. Definitely would visit here again. Service: The waitress served us well. Cleanliness: Good Price: Reasonable. 34 dollars for 2 person. Wait time: 10 min

Edited my previously 5 star review: The quality of food has dropped, food is either been too salty or swimming in oil. The prices are ok but portion sizes have reduced. Fiji vibes 🥰 with simple setting, no high-end fitouts, which works but cleanliness of basins and tables needs to be looked into. Sweets lying in the open is just not right. Customer service needs to be ironed out. Would really love to see this restaurant live to its full potential and some improvements will go a long way ☺️

Food: bland & disgusting - Better off getting pre-made ones you get from supermarkets - There are things called 'seasonings' - learn to use them. Presentation: non-existent - Meals purchased from fast food joints are more presentable - Meals came with nothing on the side (even though it really needed it). -- Other restaurants for the same price come with: --- Dips --- Pickles --- Chutney --- Dressings Service: below average at best, unprofessional at worst. - Should hire more staff members rather than having one person struggling to manage everything. -- You have one person: --- Doing cleaning --- Serving customers --- Answering calls --- Taking payments --- Waitering Wait time: horrifically long - well way over 60 minutes at least - Was tempted to simply cancel my order and go to another restaurant, probably should have. -- Food was not worth the long wait time. Hygiene: questionable. - I saw some snacks and sweets just left out in the open without anything covering them. -- You think with a global pandemic running around, the store owners would take this matter more seriously. Price: unreasonable. Food is not worth the cost. - There are other restaurants of similar style who are: -- Cheaper -- Faster -- Have better food. -- You get more Sweets: Unpalatable at best. Nothing like what it used to be. - Brought their iconic red jalebi -- Had a soggy texture -- The taste had a weird oily aftertaste --- I spat it out and threw the rest in the bin ---- Think it might have gotten stale --- Felt sick Interior design: did actually like their interior decorations choice. I believe that the only reason anyone would dine here is that they either: - Came here years ago (back when it was good) and thought the quality would be the same. - Were recommended by someone who again dined here back when it was good. - Saw many of the outdated 5-star reviews and was lured by that - Have recently moved here and thought this place would remind them of home. The people who are giving it a 5-star review either: - Never actually dined at a proper restaurant - Are so used to paying such outrageous prices for such low standards; -- which is actually quite sad because just a few blocks away there are restaurants that are cheaper and better.

Simply perfect! I'm vegan and pregnant so pretty particular about how I like my food cooked, they were happy to accommodate and it really does taste like my mums food which is so exciting for me 🤗 as a bonus it's great value too, I think it was around $10 for a veg curry and 2 rotis or rice - that's awesome value. Also the service was brilliant, I'll be back for sure 😋😀

The place looks run down --very very poor service -had to wait and than had ask for service when --no cutlery provided so had to ask for them and was given knife and fork --no spoon -how can you eat Indian food with fork and knife --secondly a small hand basin at the back of the restaurant which is dirty and nearly blocked . Had ordered 3 different dishes and had to wait over 1 hour and 15 minutes then received food only curry and roti no sides like salad or any chutney and the taste was very average --will never go back despite being a Fiji Indian and wont recommend any one better go to foster street and get much better and tasty food with a better service

5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 for their food and service! Softest roti’s ever! and we also ordered some for take away and they were still soft a day later. I had their lamb curry (on the bone🍖) and it was D-licious😋😋😋. Nice big serve, just the right amount of chilli🌶 heat and it didn’t take them long to serve the food (mind you we were the only ones in the restaurant but we were also a table of 10 and they served us all at the same time). My other family members were also very pleased with their meals. Also ordered were the goat, chicken & fish curries with vegetarian side dishes of Dhal, khata bhaji & idli). And to top off the meal, everyone had a Fiji 🇫🇯 milk ice block and took a stroll around the block to work off the food. We also ordered some milk and coconut barafi & gulab jamun for take away and they were also really good! Would highly recommend their food😋😋😋

Delicious food and very well priced. We ordered a variety of dishes and everything tasted fantastic We went back today for some goat palau and chicken chop suey which tasted just like back home. We don’t come here enough because it’s not close to where we live but would try and make more of an effort-worth it for the food and service

The food here is very well made.
Normally other restaurants a dish something like chicken curry is cooked with extreme haste, not very tender, nor well marinaded.
However employees of this restaurant understands that issue that other restaurants face so they plan ahead to avoid these mistakes.

The chicken green curry was one of the best I've ever tasted. It was slow cooked to perfection by my finding. The meat was falling off the bones with almost no effort at all. The lamb plaw was another favourite, the rice alone had good flavours in it, the lamb was very tender, the rice was very sticky and soft which I loved.

Would recommend anyone this place. These guys really did bring the taste of Fiji to Dandenong.

I was getting my car washed and thought I'd grab Take away lunch at this cafe. The girls working here were so lovely. They had a lunch pack $10 rice and curry of choice plus a drink so I thought why not. Great lamb curry on the bone with great flavour just lacking a little more chilli for my liking

Indian sweets are great. Curries are pretty average, but their Indian sweets are second to none. I particularly like their barfi and gulab jamun.

The food is never fresh always reheated. And I got severed by little kids and the charged me wrong amount, definitely not going there again.

Good service. Owner was lovely. Food is authentic, prices very reasonable. Well worth a try!

We have bought food there a few times, definitely not fresh but reheated. The flavours are good, authentic Fiji indian, however, the dishes have way too much oil and the meat dishes are extremely fatty. For what it is I think they are a bit pricey and the portions are small. Careful when ordering meat dishes as they are full of bones. The vegetarian dishes are nice but for the price the serving sizes are quite small.

They have the best service and serve the best food. Te chef is an amazing last and she makes the best food and sweets
