placed a big order for 70 people for christmas catering lunch. They skimmed on the chicken in the curry so much that only 20 people got 1 piece of chicken each, the rest had to eat the gravy.

The food was picked up at 11am for consumption at 1pm. The dal provided had gone bad and i suspect was old leftover dal they used in the restaurant rather than cooking new for us.

The naan was hard which happens when it is not made fresh but reheated after a few days.

Considering the amount of money we spent on christmas for this lunch and hosting a big party, this was a big letdown and we will be considering legal action against this place.

Overall, avoid this place at all cost. There are many many indian eateries in Dandenong which serve fresh food. Avoid this dodgy place.

Food is not served here... In the name food they serve stinkiest shit I have ever tasted ... I came to this place with 8 friends , we ordered for 4 Pani Poori , Samosa Chat , Dahi Papdi Chat , Bhel Poori and 2 serves of Chiken Chilly ...
I ordered just the combination of disaster. We had the Paani Poori and it was bland . Samosa Chat had a stink of old potatoes. Dahi Papdi chat was bad too. Bhel poori was k not that great . Chicken chilly was made in Barbeque sauce . The chicken was stale and rotten . Only 2 out of my friends went ahead to try out the Chicken Chilly rest decided not even to try anything .. We all jus walked out and addressed it to the staff of how we felt . The owner of the restaurant said we serve food everyday like this . Please look out for this place . These guys are Gangstaa

Slow service & average food. I ordered off menu log and they said 30 mins. I got there and had to wait an extra 15 mins for the food. The Garlic naan dint taste of garlic at all but did taste a bit burnt and the Lamb madras and the chicken korma werent the greatest. The chicken korma did taste better than the lamb tho. Wouldnt order from here again.

Great little take away spot. One of my favourite in the area for take away. The food is always delicious, ready quickly, and reasonably priced.

Highly recommend the chicken shahi korma and 2x plain naan. Certainly one of the most fragrant and balanced curries that I've tasted.

Felt like India Again. If anyone knows, food in India is absolutely fantastic the way it tastes its fantastic
I had the butter chicken at Chandni Chowk and it reminded me of India, it wasn't sweet like all restaurants in Melbourne, and it had a great flavour.
Not only that, another thing I noticed the authenticity in the food, each dish had a different flavour and was absolutely amazing

WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMENND IT

KEEP IT UP

Not worth for their food and service at all.... After Living in Melbourne from more than 10years I had expected a little more service and good quality food but it seems like its one of those places where you dont want to go back ever again.

Yesterday ordered take away worth more than $50 and was given Lamb Biryani (as Ordered Goat Biryani and reconfirmed twice ) and Naans were very hard to chew after 15mins of drive to home.Front staff not able to answer any questions as busy chatting on mobile.

Butter Chicken was very poor and rest was all straight to bin.Wife very unhappy as Decided to Never Go back again. And please ask beforehand if you buying sweets as Turned out we paid over $12 just for 3 ladoos and 2 Gulabjamun......Wouldnt recommend anyone going there

Best restaurant in ‘Little India'. I’ve been visiting Andy at Chandni Chowk for some time, and decided to tell everyone of the fantastic food offered there. I’m always greeted with a smile and served in a timely manner. Try the ‘Bhuna’, I did today and was very impressed.

Not happy Jan. Had take away lunch special "Butter Chicken and Rice with Papadum" $7.00...the papadum was good.. the rest was rubbish, 65% rice, 35% sauce with 3 small pieces of chicken floating in the bottom... Absolute garbage.
My local Fish and Chip shop could do better.... won't be going back or recommending to anyone.

Awesome authentic Indian in Dandenong. Highly recommend. I have eaten here twice now, it was that good, I forgot to write a review the first time. I had the lamb vindaloo, with naan and onion salad and it was hot but not overpowering. This time I had the lamb taak tok, with onion salad, naan and rice. This is hotter than the vindaloo but with much more flavour. The staff are friendly and happy to discuss the food and cooking methods.

Cheap price for a rich indian meal. I was recommended this place by an Indian friend so decided to go one afternoon to check it out. I have been to many Indian restaurants and cafes but this place has really topped them all. The biryani especially is probably the best I have had so far. I also had chaat (my friend especially told me to have this) and truly it was so tangy and felt fresh. Food was not pricey at all either. Overall, a very satisfying experience, and I will be recommending this place to my crowd.

Some friends and I were wanting to try some authentic chaat and Indian food one night and so decided to venture to Dandenong. We stumbled across this small restaurant which seemed to look quite authentic. We were surprised by the extensive menu and so tried some curries. We were all very satisfied with the food - the stand outs were the goat curry and naans (Perfect and crisp!!) being Indian i can confidently say this is one of the few restaurants that does everything so well. I am excited to return and try the other menu items (in particular the chaat) which I believe is meant to be excellent!! Definitely recommend this hidden gem

Stunning Experience.. Curry seems to be a food item that many people believe they have a skill at creating. Unfortunately, this delicacy takes years of practice in order to fine tune the intricate and exquisite tastes engulfed within the curry. More often than not, I have departed Sri Lankan and Indian restaurants somwhat half satisfied with the meal i have just consumed. I'm not going to name and shame such places but surely as a restaurant that specifies in one style of food, it should be up to a decent standard.

While trawling the streets of Mini India, Dandenong, i noticed a brilliant little setup. It was a DVD/Music store specialising in the Bollywood culture. What really caught my eye was an adjoining shop that was a restaurant. It was an Indian restaurant with a small but intimate and welcoming nature to it. There was a stunning aroma when i entered the restaurant via the DVD shop. The restaurant itself was called "Chandni Chowk Chaat Corner." Now upon smelling the restaurant and gasping in its beauty, i decide there and then that id treat myself to some curry. I had my fingers crossed in the hope that it would deliver. I dont know why i felt it but I felt somewhat confident that this restaurant was gunna finally deliver the knockout curry punch that my taste buds had desired for so long.

I was immediately attended to by a female waitress. She was very friendly with a bubbly smile. She handed me a menu and offered me some water which i politely accepted. While scrolling the menu for an item to jump out at me, i noticed a very pleasing comfort. The prices!! They were quite cheap and more than reasonable. Seeing as the prices were quite decent, i decided to order more than i needed. i could always have the extra food packed up for me and consumed at a later time in the comfort of my own home.

I settled on the butter chicken, goat korma, 2 garlic naans, 1 plain naan and lamb biriyani. After placing my order, I looked around and settled my eyes upon the abundance of sweet/desserts on offer towards the front of the restaurant. They came in so many different sizes and colours. I just wanted to have a sample from every single one of them!! I decided to let common sense prevail and walk away from the sweets. Until AFTER the mains anyway!! The food came out in quick time. There was a rich and distinct scent from each dish. All the food was presented very neatly and in an edible fashion. I am an absolute sucker for Garlic naan so ripped off a piece and immediately noticed the fluffy and smooth texture of the bread. The bread wasn't drowned in garlic which is always a bonus. Both the curries had a succinct and full flavour to them. I was surprised at how rich it was. Quite often, i have tasted curry which has been watered down. Or most often, pre made and simply re-heated and served. But it was clear to see that the curry on offer at this restaurant was made fresh and a delight to eat. The goat curry was very delicious with an extra kick to it due to the lovely spices contained inside it. The biriyani was the highlight. There was quite an abundance of meat provided and the rice was cooked with a flavour so mouth watering that i simply wanted more after each bite.

Once i felt the belt on my stomach strain, i decided to stop there and requested the waitress to pack my left over food. Without hesitation, she took my plates away and returned promptly with my food in plastic containers. I glanced over to the sweets and decided i simply had to have just one to complete my dining experience. I went with a milky white cylindrical shape sweet. It had a pistachio nut flavour to it and on my first bite, i was in love.

I went to pay my bill and was shocked at the small amount that all my food items purchased had equated to. All the restaurant requested from me was a paltry $35. i had ordered enough food to easily cater for 3 meals. I was displaying a massive grin and figured "what a bargain!!" Without any hesitation, i grabbed a take away menu and knew id return to Chandni Chowk Chaat Corner to satisfy the little curry man inside of me.

If you are looking for a curry restaurant that takes great pride in serving up quality dishes, then please look no further than this restaurant. It has a friendly nature and a great menu and very affordable prices. So get along and support the small businesses of Melbourne while enjoying a sensational meal that will knock the curry socks off you!!

Quality Indian food and a Melbourne Chaat Frontier. After living in Melbourne for 25 years and often finding myself scouring the inner and outer suburbs of Melbourne for a decent Delhi style Chaat place, I had given up hope with all the types of chaat I had tried through Melbourne being very different to what I had expected.
As often the case the Chaat had been westernized and dulled down to cater for a more Australian audience. Firstly to define what Chaat is, Chaat is a type of food which can be described as savoury snacks which are typically served at road-side tracks from stalls or carts in India. Street food.
So once again I found myself wound up in little India on a Sunday for lunch.
Dandenong, also referred to as little India is a place i often resorted to for some decent and authentic Mugalai food.
Amongst the familiar faces of Quick Eats places an old option emerged "revamped" - The old Amritsar sweets (a place i used to visit often for the Parathas) had been transformed to Chandni Chowk Chaat corner.
I was excited seeing a new Chaat place open up, I tried to lower my expectation as by now I had trained myself for disappointment.
The name, aside from being a tongue twister was placing memories of the infomas locale of "Chandni Chowk, Delhi" A place filled with so much history and culture that it lays the foundations of Delhi. Aside from the cultural aspect of the suburb Chandni Chowk is famous for the unchanged and delicious foods, if you ask most people from Delhi they can send you on a verbal tantalizing adventure of the delicious foods, Chaats, and unchanged delicacies that Chandni chowk is famous for.
Seeing the name of the place brought back memories as well as inducing me to salivate as i thought of the food potential it was claiming to offer. Just seeing the name of the place had placed a big call on, and set expectations pretty darn high. I entered, the place resembled the quick eats places which were neighbouring, and there was a sweet counter as well as the standard quickeats tables and chairs. What quickly drew my attention was the Chaat counter. A traditional Indian "mutka" or clay water pot which contained the tangy liquid or "Pani" for the dish "Pani puri" this had me impressed, no real other "Chaat" place had something reflecting this traditional means of keeping the "pani". I then also realized the sweet counter that I had dismissed had something unique, aside from having the standard "Burfi" the sweets were made to look very attractive with a Burfi shaped as a watermelon - along with the seed, as well as a beautiful looking apple shaped Burfi. Thinking already about dessert and the sweets I was going to take away for my family, I sat down to order.
The menu aside from the Chaat contained the standard North Indian Mugalia dishes with the back page dedicated to Chaat items, I contemplated having some mains just to give them a shot although as upon entering the place my hope of finding a decent Chaat place were aroused once again and after a long time searching I was not disappointed!
I ordered the Pani Puri - which was great, the water or "Pani" was exactly like the stuff I got back home - not too spicy and tangy just the way it is supposed to be. I liked it so much that I ended up ordering another plate. Once I was done I Had the "chat papri" and the suante or the sweet sauce was once again how it was meant to be, perfect amount of sweetness and thick - just perfect.
By now my chat craving was satisfied I was on a natural high. For once I had found a chaat place that had not disappointed but rather impressed me.
I then ordered some food, just for a taste I was pretty full by this time. I ordered some Chicken Tikka Masala (CTM), which looked and spelt amazing, one thing I had noticed was that it was not as oiley as the other places I had been to. It tasted really nice and the smell was so fragrant, I ended up eating half of it and taking the other half home and for lunch the next day (it actually tasted better the next day). Another thing that impressed me was the Naan bread, it was fluffy, light and great for a winters day. Both the CTM and the Naan made an excellent lunch. I left the place stuffed and satisfied, but most of all overjoyed that i had found a place that serves authentic and tasty Chaat - just the way I like it!
The staff was friendly and very tentative with the lovely girl friendly and responsive. I had a chat with her and she seemed passionate about the food that she was serving.
I took away some sweet and impressed my friends with the random shapes - which none of them had seen before. The sweets were great and impressed my friends enough to say they would go there.
All in all I would recommend this place for snacks, a meal and sweets and if you go do try the Chaat. All in all a great place to eat authentic and tasty food, that I would say was fresh, fragrant and very very tasty. CCCC Ill be back!

Unexpected gem. After a Saturday morning visit to the amazing Dandenong Market, and having decided we just had to have Indian food for lunch, we stumbled on this small gem of a restaurant. Chandni Chowk, in Dandenong's "Little India" is in no way pretentious - laminex tables, an open archway into the next-door DVD rental shop (specializing entirely in Bollywood-type movies), and with the proprietor's family and friends all around, we felt completely welcome and at home. Three main courses - lamb rogan josh, butter chicken and a wonderfully-flavoured goat kadai, plus rice and garlic naan - were more than enough for the four of us, at a total price of $34.00. We'll be back.
