Owner Amir super friendly, ordered mix kebab, excellent food and generous servings. Would definitely come again if in the area.

Really good food, the Mantu was spiced well and the pallow with chicken tikka was delicious. Highly recommend for the next time you’re in the area!

My whole extended family, 25 people, rocked up to this place and the owner was very welcoming and friendly. He told us in advance it might take a little while to prepare our order. When the meals came.....omg it was fresh and delicious!!! The chappli kebab, the shami kebabs were to die for!!! kids, teens and adults all loved this place! 10/10 fair price, clean, fresh

No. Never ever again. My 2 year old son lost it because he got so hungry waiting for food. Then didn't eat because he was too upset. Food was not anything close to Balkh or Sahar. I am so disappointed. More disappointed that the owner himself never came out to explain delays and instead let a young girl deal with it. Really ruined my day. If you can't deal with the customers walking in then be kind enough to tell them to go elsewhere.

Really delicious kabuli pulao and chicken tikka kebab. The lamb kebab is good too but not as great as the chicken. Tried the mantu and it’s quite nice but already cold when served which is too bad. Food came out a bit slow at almost half an hour after ordering.

I frequently visit Afghani restaurants. It is good for a change of taste. They serve freshly prepared food so it takes time sometimes to get your food. But overall good experience.

I have tried Mantu in almost every shop in Dandeong area and found only 3 of them to be truly good. The rest are just below average. Their Mantu is definitely top 3. Worth a try.

Excellent food and great service! Also beautiful clean furniture. Ordered the lamb kebab and the chicken tikka kebab, which both come with 4 massive freshly cooked skewers of meat, generous serve if yoghurt, mint sauce, fresh salad and fresh bread/roti/pita type. Owner even asked if we wanted another serve of bread. He checked on all his customers and took interest but not in a nosy way. We finished off with a mango lassi which was refreshing. I pretty much died in heaven as I am a carnivore and left 110% satisfied. If there was any downside it was just that you can only pay in cash but absolutely well worth it! Will be coming back again and inviting others.

A very simple, unassuming restaurant.
The quality of food and portion sizes were great!

This well- appointed, sparkling clean restaurant offers a proper Afghan eating experience. Service here is unhurried -- they only begin cooking when you order. So arrive early, order your food and then oa lassi to nurse while you wait. The food will be be worth it. While waiting, wander around the place, chat with the owner about the rugs on the wall -- all hand woven -- and get to know your host. By this time, the food will arrive -- delectable, beautiful, delicious and worth every minute you've spent waiting. Don't forget to have the ice cream before you leave. Expect to spend $20 - 30 per head.

Located in the Dandenong precinct, this Afghan food outlet offers modest ambience, good food, moderate price and average service.

Chicken curry was minced chicken - gravy tasted different.3/5

Kebabs were good although quantity was tad little, tasty 4/5

Yoghurt sauce and Salad was crisp and so was the service 3/5

Revisit: Yes
If you never had Afghan food you're doing yourself a dis-service. It might not be the flavour of the month (I'm looking at you burgers!) or as well known as Thai but it deserves more respect. If you're new to Afghan the wait staff offer some great suggestions without the pressure.

Loving this place, was so tired of Sahar down the road serving cheap rubbish. Along comes Afghan delicious, great quality blackstrap and chicken cooked well. $14 for 4 decent skewers, can't go wrong

Great quality food, but the service was not satisfactory. Not sure if it was the girls first day or not... Doesn't matter. Boarding on rude.

Elaborate decor does not a good restaurant make. We ate here based on previous good reviews. I'm not sure that we ate at the same restaurant as the photos on here from 2013 show a different front and nicer looking food.
We left 80% of our food as everything was a disaster. Kabuli pullao was oily, seekh kebab was made from sausage meat, nothing had any flavour whatsoever apart from the chutney. I would be tempted to suggest they even get their bread from next door and heat it up.
It also proved annoying that so many men were walking in and out of the restaurant and into the kitchen area.
It's Dandenong... you can find much better Afghani food up the street.

I eat all over town, and if it is good food as well as value that you are after, give this place a go. Pricing is about half of what you should be paying for this kind of quality. Service is fast and friendly, decor is afghan themed, as most customers would be local afghans.
