Review Canadian Pancakes - Dandenong

The food was very nice and the service was quick and friendly. The cheese and potato pancake had some crispy cheese that made it a little difficult to eat but was still delicious. The milkshake was nice too. Fancy decor with lovely rainforest style gardens.

Canadian Pancakes is a cosy little restaurant with old-fashioned English dining settings situated in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges. The staff are friendly and hospitable and the food is fabulous. Great place to try Western food.

If I could give half a star it would reflect the quality of food here. The steak pictured with a salad a chips is the worse way to spend your money. Steak took multiple times to cook right, the service is terrible and cleanliness is very low. Couldn't recommend a place highly to stay away from.

Worst customer service. Ordered 3 coffees and waited half an hour. When asked about the coffee they said it’s coming in 5 more minutes because were understaffed on a busy Saturday morning. They bring two coffees after 35mins because they didn’t put through the order for the 3rd coffee. A few others complained about the time it took for them to get service. People who work there don’t want to be there. Better to head to Olinda town and grab a bite from one of those lovely cafes.

The place had a close sign but we went in anyway because we were hungry and the staff were so nice and served us food. The food was absolutely amazing and well presented.

The staff are sweet and I feel so bad for them but I have to give an honest review - everything to do with this restaurant is wrong. The food is way below average, it was difficult to finish. I had calamari and chips, the fish was smelly and the chips looked like they had been heated up from yesterday, the side salad was just miserable bitter, slightly brown leaves. The service was all over the place - orders were being taken to the wrong tables, staff moving around panicked asking if we could remind them what we ordered. There must have only been about 5 tables to serve. This is a good example of how somewhere can continue to do well based on location alone but they need to do better.

The waiter was pleasant, but not there when you needed him. The wait time was fine, however when the food came out, they looked presentable, but my Belgian waffles were cold and doughy. m my Dad's fish and chips were adequate. My hot chocolate was lovely good temperature, perfect amount of chocolate. To rectify the situation they took off the waffles from my bill which I appreciated.

How can one place get it all so wrong? The restaurant was almost empty, which we assumed would mean fast service. Firstly, menus took ten minutes to arrive. Secondly, the first meal took at least half an hour to come out, with the second meal arriving 15 minutes later. Even drinks took half an hour! Thirdly, the very rubbery waffles, which were clearly recently defrosted and heated in the microwave, should have at least arrived after ten minutes. The calamari was awful and borderline inedible. I would rather risk starvation than dine here again. If you like high prices for low quality, you'll love it!

Me and an friend went there and gotta smoothies. We were the only on there. We ordered and multiple staff we staring at us being teen girls it was kinda creepy because it was mostly men. After 40 min waiting for 2 smoothies we got them. Cups were broken and tasted like milk and nothing else. Went up to pay and manager didn’t now how to work the credit card machine, chef had to. Old decor and smelt funny.

Worst scones ever!they were dry and hard as rocks. And the hot chocolate very waterly and flavorless. Definitively we don't recommend this place at all. Prices are really hight for the quality of food. They need to step it up urgently!

The staff was really friendly but the food was far away from impressive. The pasta was something I would not even make at home. The Veges in pasta were definitely from the frozen pack. And who puts cauliflower in pasta?

cozy place in dandenong moutnains with nice forest surroundings around the restaurant. food took a bit longer than expected but service was friendly. Tried the cheesy potato wedges which was served with nice condiments of sour cream and sweet chili sauce, but could've been a bit crispier. ordered the farmers brekky which came with nicely cooked eggs and crispy bacon, which is nice as a lot of bacon isn't served crispy in melbourne. had the saucy bird crepe which came with a nice salad and pickled veggies. HIghlights were the pancakes which were nice and fluffy. Coffee came a little watery, but nice flavour. Will definitely consider coming back if i go back up to the mountains.

Nice cozy restaurant/cafe hidden in beautiful misty Dandy mountains.
Friendly staff, nice ambiance, love the coffee.
We ordered a saucy bird savory crepe and a salmon Pancake. Pancakes tastes really good. Nicely presented. Food took bit more time than the average to serve, may be because we went on a public holiday and place was busy. That alright, because food was really good. We really wanted to try dessert pancakes but both my self and my wife were fully stuffed up to try any. May be next time for sure!

Canadian Pancakes is a newish establishment on the site of the former Eden and Churinga cafes, and as such, it has inherited the beautiful ferny gully that characterized the previous businesses. One can still enjoy a meal at an outside table, with the ferns and birdlife to keep you company. Inside it is elegant, with a burgundy colour scheme, and the settings comprise plushly upholstered chairs, and tables complete with tablecloths and table ornamentation. A seat by the sash widows affords some leafy tranquil views. The menu includes pancakes - of course - but is more extensive. There is both a breakfast and lunch menu, and the latter includes items such as pasta, bruschetta, and chicken and steak meals for the meat eaters. Vegetarians are well catered for with the potato, and mushroom pancakes, and spinach crepes. On my visit, I selected the vegetable stack, which comes with a vegan option, and includes eggplant, zucchini, sweet potato, and sides of chips and a salad. It was a generous and filling serve, and quite tasty. The service was professional and affable. I am sure I will be back for pancake some time soon.
