Review Eva's Botanic Gardens Cafe - Darwin

Nice hidden treasure in Darwin next to the botanical gardens. The food is pretty good, good quality. Great for a Sunday brunch. Spacious enough for people to come in and sit. They don't take bookings.

Great place to come for an espresso. Coffee was well made and prices are fair. It's a cool building, although there isn't good AC so it can be toasty on hot days. Lots of seating outside, some seating indoors. There is a small parking lot nearby.

Laksa Benedict was delicious, the Hollandaise isnt too strong with the laksa flavour which is good. Coffee was yum too. Only thing I'd pick on was the bacon is described as crispy but wasn't. Still yummy and super fast 😋

Lovely venue. This is one of my favourite cafes in Darwin. The setting is gorgeous, the coffee is very good and the blueberry muffins divine! Friendly service. A great place to chill out and have some yummy lunch. I highly recommend it.

We had an amazing lunch here outside on the terrace. The laksa poached eggs were absolutely delicious, as was the spaghetti with garlic and parmesan. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Darwin! Prices are also very reasonable.

Lovely area to sit and relax, the food was good. My server was efficient and great service. The price not so much, for lunch $32 for eggs, cheese, bacon and pulped tomato's with an apple juice. I did see a customer waiting for ages to speak with staff and ended up walking out as they served another person that had only came up to counter. I prob will only go for a coffee if I was to go again.

Huge outside seating area so perfect for most Darwin days. The venue is nice, clean tables, good food and friendly staff. Amenities are nice and had just been cleaned. Plenty of parking but in peak times might be a bit more tricky to get somewhere close. The food was good and ok priced for what you get. Unfortunately 1 of our meals was missing a few things. We did eventually get this rectified by the good staff. The coffee, it wasn't so good.a piccolo latte and a almond milk latte are our go to coffee orders. Unfortunately the piccolo fell well short of expectation, to put it nicely the art was the only good part. I did go and order another thinking maybe it was just done wrong but the 2nd came as the same. So I went and ordered a short black and added it to the piccolo and that was much better. So 5 star for staff 4star for location/venue 3star for food and value for money 2 star for coffee. All up a 3 star experience.

I am really sorry that I feel compelled to write this negative review. I visited for ' High Tea ' on Sunday at 10am. My opinion is that there were so many bookings that the staff were unable to provide acceptable service and food. The food we did receive and the way it was presented was definately not what is expected for a ' High Tea ' The scones were not suitable to be served. They were so rock hard that I don't think they would have broken even if dropped on the concrete. Some of them were replaced when we complained and the second batch was better although still not what I would call a decent scone. Sandwiches served on a black platter were also not up to the standard of what is expected at a ' High Tea ' nor was any of the other food we received. On top of that we had to sit outside in the sun. Overall extremely dissappointing.

Went over the weekend, very disappointed. Nothing in the baked goods cabinet. I ordered the juice of the day (watermelon, orange, beetroot etc) got a glass of orange juice, that tasted store bought. Ordered a toasted sandwich and some toast which took over half n hour to get and tried to order a cold drip coffee (advertised on menu) but they hadn’t made any. Our usual Saturday morning spot but will be rethinking our next visit.

I recently had breakfast with my 20 month old daughter at Eva’s cafe and was mostly impressed. The staff taking my order were quite rude, which wasn’t a good start, but things improved from there They had a high chair, which always makes life easier, plus some play equipment for the little kids. The food was really tasty and well presented and came out within about 15 minuets. The only issue I had with the food was that I didn’t get any butter to go with the vegemite for the toast. I will definitely be going back.

It's a great place to have a drink with friends and let your kids play but it was super hot. Maybe a fan outside would be good. We didn't order until 9am and there were no baked goods to choose from. My juice was lovely and the one staff member that was on was lovely. My smashed Avo on toast was actually smashed avo on bread and it was extremely oily. Maybe just a dab or oil next time or even put it on the side. I will be back because it's a lovely spot. Just a shame about the food and how hot it was

Terrible the worst food ever the omelette was horrible, don't know what has gone wrong other people's order lost. No cakes, drinks in fridge warm. Only breakfast for lunch. Unprofessional staff.

Other than the location, I can’t understand the popularity of this place. Was empty when we got there and still waited an age for food, chased after 30 mins and docket was lost... not good enough

I’m so disappointed, this cafe has so much potential but every time I’ve been here the service is absolutely woeful. Today we waited 40 minutes for scones, scones that are prepared... Unfortunately this was not isolated to us, it seemed to be a consistent problem.

Give the High Tea a miss if you prefer value for money! This Saturday (14/5/2016) I was left very disappointed after attending a high tea at Eva’s Botanical Gardens Café, which had been the chosen venue for a friend’s baby shower. Sadly, I was not the only one from our group of 15+ ladies that felt this way. For a $46 Sparking Tea at the Ritz high tea package I expected amazing things. One thing that I cannot fault was the quaint feel of the church with its lovely wooden floors, pretty decorations and fine china placed around the table. However, from there it went downhill fast. It seemed like there were so many issues in the two hours we had at the venue. To summarise: • While there were many fans situated in the church, most of them weren’t turned on. This contributed to it being quite warm inside regardless of the cool breeze outside and all of the doors being open. • The quantity and quality of food on offer was poor. The first round consisted of a selection of dry sandwiches, one scone each with not enough jam and cream and one madeline each. • The second round was tiny portions of mint slice and what was meant to be caramel squares (but actually tasted like oily nut slices) and tiny macarons that looked and tasted stale. • Coffee nor tea was unlimited – the server came around once to take coffee requests and even then, one member of our group was left out. When the coffee did come out it was a small size. • The iced tea that was brought out wasn’t even cold; there was no juice on the table; the water had to be requested in the first place and then we had to ask for refills. As it was warm inside anyway, this shouldn’t have been something that had to be requested. • Champagne was supplied by our host but the fresh strawberries and the server that were meant to be included with the high tea were nowhere in sight. As I compare other high tea packages from southern and eastern states, it makes me even more annoyed that this business charged us more than $700 for what looks like it cost $50 from Woolies. Definitely feeling ripped off!

Terrible food Food disgusting. Very sad Very disappointing. What has happened to this place it used to be great Watered down mouse like avacado, omelette made us feel sick, ham and cheese toasty barely edible, no cakes, tables not cleared so several flies, $8.60 blueberry smoothy just OK. service very slow Sad

I had a very unfortunate experience today. I paid $26 for a ham, cheese and tomato toastie, a blueberry muffin and 2 Vegemite sandwiches on multigrain bread which I asked for as a takeaway. It took around 1/2 hr to get our sandwiches which I understood because it was busy. But when my sandwiches were ready I was given 4 pieces of plain cut bread with tubs of butter and containers of Vegemite. I had to make my own sandwiches! I then had to ask for a knife because it wasn't given to me in the bag. After one of the staff fumbled around in a drawer I was presented with a plastic teaspoon to use because they couldn't find a knife. Luckily enough another staff member came up to us and found a knife which I was given 3 of. I was extremely frustrated because 1. I think every sandwich I MADE cost about $5.00 each, 2. I didn't think it was that hard to make a Vegemite sandwich and 3. it was mothers day and I was hoping to have the day off. I'm very sad that I had this disappointing experience. I will be back however to see how you go next time though
