Review Noodle House Mitchell - Darwin

Li Yang Lim
We got the salt pepper squid, whole fish in Thai chilli sauce, pork spare rib and choy sum. This is one of the best asian places to dine at in Darwin. Highly recommend to come with your friends to share large dinner (which is the proper asian way anyway!). Prices are pretty reasonable too.

Make sure you book! We were seated inside, but outdoors is also available and protected from the rain. If it's a hot night, it might be better to be inside. The service was hit and miss but that was only because our waiter must have been learning. The menu is comprehensive and the waiter takes your order on the ipad. Our food came out freshly made and there was plenty of it, so much so, we took it home in the containers they provided at the end of the meal. Be aware that some meals, like the whole fish and mud crab is pricey. They do take away too and there were plenty of people coming in to pick up orders.

First time trying noodle house. Amazing chichen and corn soup followed by a dish of chilli barramundi and rice. Also a serve of chicken and cashews in oyster sauce. Friendly staff and well priced. A must try for the those who love Asian cuisine.

Food was yummy but took 45 mins. Our booking time was 6 pm. Would have ordered dessert but staff didn't ask.

The single best mud crab I have ever had. Came back twice while in Darwin. Absolutely amazing. Don’t miss the Singapore mud crab 🦀 ❤️❤️

One star here is overrated! An hour and a half with no food. No checking in on the table. No service for repeat drink orders, we had to “bother” one of the staff to get a second drink an hour in. Just as we were about to leave the food appeared…. Box bought frozen deep fried entrées, Cold. Beef black bean sauce, cold. Crispy skin chicken, super dry and yet again cold. Mongolian pork, actually char sui pork with a weird sauce. Vego fried noodles, mushy 2 minute like noodles with a couple of mushrooms thrown in. Peking duck pancakes, duck skin with a slither of meat spread out on some dry lettuce with a tower of pancakes….. half of the tables food bought out and left the other half of the table waiting a further 15 minutes. Sending everything in 1 big hit is not necessary, send items when they are hot and at their best knowing that the rest of the food is moments behind. Service was appalling, as in there was none. Food was an absolute joke! $500 bill, we could have got better from a take away Chinese for 1/3 of the price. Super disappointed! Looking for a nice dinner in Darwin? Do not waste your time or money in this venue!

Ordered a banquet, took nearly 2 hours and it all didn’t come out at once. Had first half of banquet then second half came like 20m later. Got it upgraded for 5 people and food portions were so small. Food was tasty but overall experience was bad. Also asked for assistance and never got an answer back. I also hope you like your vegetables because the meat portions are so small.

Took family to dinner and we were amazed by the quality and flavours. Probably the best Chinese food I have had. We ordered entre Sam cow Baptist and prawn spring rolls and for main the sizing pepper steak, Mongolian lamb and chicken and vegetables. Kids finished with the deep fried banana an ice cream. Highly recommend

We had the dim sims, chicken with lemon grass, crab and fried rice. The bill for the food was $200 and the only thing that was edible was the crab; simply because all they had to do was boil it. The food was dry, no seasoning, tasteless and inedible.

The waitress asked if we wanted to take the food home in a container ...... I assumed she was joking.

The staff were robotic, inattentive, remote and lacked inspiration.

The wine list was also very average and expensive. If you are not going to allow BYO wine, then provide a decent wine list at reasonable prices. To triple the bottle shop prices for average to bad wine, is no longer acceptable in Australia.

Food 0 Service 1 Ambiance 1

Good food with wonderful atmosphere however the menu is quite expensive. If you want good value for money order off of the takeaway menu and you will get good food for a reasonable price.

Ate there Easter Saturday. Offered them the courtesy of calling beforehand to book a table but was assured that not needed. Arrived & had to wait until a table prepared... 1st demerit.
Ordered 3 dishes; SaltnPepper Quail entree, Barramundi stir fried wth veggies & Claypot prawns wth noodles. 1 dish 5\5, other dish 2.5\5; last dish indelible using frozen barramundi & veggies stewed to death! 0\5. 2nd demerit..
I noterd the restrauant had a wide variety of desserts other than the de-riguer fried ice cream & loquats etc. unusual for a chiniose restrauant.... we declined but did order coffees wth “an extra shot”. On paying I noted we were charged us $2 per extra shot EACH!!! Rip off Mr Rolex wearing wealthy owner!!! I wont be back Mr WONG!!!

Very friendly staff, the portion sizes for main meals are pretty generous and all taste delicious. There are lots of nice looking desserts on display.

Go to the other end of Mitchell Street (short walk) where you will find much better food at a better price and don't have to put up with the arrogant waiter

We had a great date night here.Service and food was of good quality and reasonable priced. I would however avoid the Asian imported prawns, mussels, bugs and scallops as they where as the usual overpriced and tasteless.

it would be great if they offered local seafood as we would rather pay more for some quality local stuff.

Noodle House indicates noodles!

This was a Chinese restaurant.

Atmosphere was great, service was great, food was usual Chinese, they had a selection of cakes so I wasn't sure if it was a cafe or a restaurant.

My absolute favourite Chinese restaurant in Darwin. If you end up here, I highly recommend their crispy prawn balls.

Staff here are very attentive and lovely.

Had a serious noodle craving tonight and went to Noodle House as we had seen it on the drive in. It goes without saying that first impressions are important, my first impression was not a good one. On the right of the door there it was, "no thongs or singlets" allowed. This was both a surprise and a disappointment. Let's be real, it's a noodle house, in Darwin, with zero Michelin stars. No thongs, you are kidding yourself. If I had any discipline I'd have walked away. But I don't, and I'm glad I didn't.
On entry the staff we friendly and confirmed the "no thongs" policy however we're willing to serve us takeaway meals. We ordered two separate styles of fried noodles and I am happy to say both dishes were delicious, generous in size and a well balanced mix of meat-veg-noodle. For this reason I'd consider takeaway from there again, but we will skip the prawn crackers next time. They were stale, very stale. Had the mains not been very good the prawn crackers would've been the nail in the coffin.

Worst restaurant I have been to. I don't know where to start. The entree was burnt to a crisp even though I was told that it was supposed to be steamed! The main was so tasteless that I had to ask for more soy and chillis and had to use Hoi Sin Sauce to get it to even resemble food. Yuck. Will never go there again. Expensive mistake

The worst meal i have had. I cant believe i actually paid for a meal here. we had shared pork puffs for entree. I asked about steamed pork buns first and was told to try the pork puffs instead, i said that i did not like anything that was deep fried and she said these were steamed. Imagine when they came to the table and they were burnt and inedible. I pointed this out to the waitree but she didnt understand. Main meal was a disaster. My husband had crispy skin pork. Luckily there was a sauce to go with it as it was so tasteless. I had Mapo Tofu and i had to ask for both soy sauce and use my husbands pork sauce for the dish to have any flavour. Took the takeaway home and gave it to the animals! The restaurant said that they had spoken to the staff to ensure that this does not happen again. They looked forward to serving me again, no thanks!!!

I liked the flavours although the food was a little oily. Had take away and received good and quick service.

Terrific. Best Chinese food in town. Reasonably priced and good quality. Good range. Great service, great food, highly recommended. Been going back there regularly for over ten years.

Mr varela. One of the worst restaurants I have ever been too. Had the $45 banquet and the first two entree's were frozen packet re fried style sesame seed triangles and won tons, I kid you not. The main meals arrived and two small bowls of rice were served for seven grown men. Really ? It was $45 for gods sake. How much does rice cost ? The meals were also small, very tasteless, and terribly presented. Presentation you might expect from a changii prison camp or Thai prison. We also ordered the chilli crab as a special , which happened to be $130 per kg., and it aririved with one claw with flesh , an empty head shell served over a few fleshless legs and another claw with no meat. what the ? Who does that ?
The other special, over priced prawn dish we had came with 8 prawns for 7 guys. Not happy Jan !!! It tasted ok but where's the value.
Beers were over priced and not even that cold and the chairs had no padding so it was like sitting on a park bench for 2 hours.
Real garbage. Give it a wide berth.
Lucky we were able to grab a whopper at the airport from hungry jacks before the flight back to melbourne. The kids flipping hamburgers there could teach the crew at the noodle house a thing or two.

Hit and a miss... I live the 'noodle dream' so was sorely needing a fix. Unfortunately this was the first place we drove past - I became very excited and decided to skip hanuman - BIG MISTAKE. We ordered the 'house noodle special' which was a tasteless mess of magi noodles. A potato and chicken curry which was ok but nothing special and the garlic prawn... Make sure you are aware that you only receive about 6 prawns and a whole heap of vegetables in a bland 'garlic' sauce. Not very appetising. We couldn't finish anything and felt bad leaving almost whole plates of food. Do yourself a favour - go to hanumans!

Love & miss Noodle House!! Both the Mitchell & Knuckey st ones. I'm obsessed with noodles and Noodle House rocks my boat! Beef ho fun is a fav as well as a prawn golden ball dish...(Mitchell st) Has thinly cut strips of potato around a perfectly cooked prawn with some type of mayo like sauce to help it stick on. Have since moved down south & miss this place so much!!

The food is lovely. However, there are two restaurants owned by the same owners. This one and the one on Knuckey St (both called Noodle House). This restaurant is for the tourists, the locals go to the one on Knuckey St. This one is licensed and is a lovely spot, it is just overpriced compared to the Knuckey St restaurant, which feels more authentic as well.

The fish was delicious, and I was impressed by the vegetables. The environment is nice. But this was overshadowed by a few disappointing dishes that were just not fresh, or had been reheated (to some extent many restaurants do this, but it's not great when it's obvious upon tasting). Pricey to
