Review The Groove Train - Darwin

Waited roughly 40 minutes for our food, wasn’t busy at all. I ordered a medium steak which was almost $40 and it was over cooked, tough and chewy with a pile of potatoes no salad or anything. Hungry and sick of waiting I just ate what parts of the steak I could. I let the waitress know I wasn’t happy with it but I won’t make a fuss and will eat it but requested a small side salad because who just wants potatoes and steak for $40. Was clear the waitress didn’t care at all she said “okay” to my complaint and didn’t care to carry on the conversation. My partner and I waited around for the salad but decided waiting around would make the bad experience worse. I went to pay and they tried to charge me $10 for a salad I assumed would be for free considering I got such a trash meal for an expensive price. Such a shame considering it’s Valentine’s Day Literally will not go there again.

I wouldn't normally write a bad review, especially when every retail and food business and in fact any business in Darwin are struggling with staff. but my experience with the Grove Train this afternoon has left me underwhelmed. We normally go in to the restaurant to eat and go there in pick over most places in Casuarina as they have a good variety. we ordered Uber tonight and ok simple and easy mistake that the sweet potato chips were missing, but my husband had ordered the Moroccan lamb. at $27.95. there was no Moroccan spice in it at all and just tasted of sugar. also when we got the container it was only 2cm of Moroccan lamb. I contacted the restraunt , to give them the opportunity to fix this issue a. I asked directly to speak to the manager. he was absolutely not taking onboard any of my complaint but was happy to drive out my sweet potato chips, kind of late as my daughter was already eating her meal. wasn't even interested in what I had to say about the lamb and the fact that I am repeat customer that frequents their often. sorry but you poor attitude will not have me returning this is somthing that you could of fixed easily.

An extensive menu and lots of choices. I had the club sandwich which came with chips. As you can see, it's stacked. Staff are attentive, wasn't very busy when we were there for lunch on Tuesday.

Went there at 1600 hours on Sunday afternoon. Presents a warm and welcoming ambience; includes booths. Good service by Saif. Reasonable prices. Not crowded or noisy. Good place to meet for catch-up and chat over a feed and something to drink. I really liked the pizza 🍕 and the beer 🍻 on tap.

Food was great but service could be better. Our Booth had a weird dirty smell so maybe a proper clean in the booths would be good.

Worse pizzas in Darwin, 22 dollars for a barely warm pizza, all the topping fall apart and from the pasta, everything was watery like it was frozen products. Pasta taste and feel like cardboard, Toppings are extremely cheap quality and not tasty at all. What a shame... not talking about the smallest piece of tiramisu ever for 9dolls.

I’ve been to the Groove tonight with my partner and it was amazing! The portion size was massive! The food was so delicious and staff super friendly, professional and proactive. I recommend it for sure!

2020 updated to 2 stars: I ate here last night and copped a massive olive pit in my pizza, which almost broke my teeth. I asked to have an incident report filled out, just in case there was some unknown damage. I was flatly refused by management. They offered me a discount. The discount was 10%, which is the same discount I get for my members card. I had been going to this restaurant for 2 years (my original review from 2018 is below), and did not expect to be treated with such disrespect. 2018 Review 4 stars: Decent family friendly restaurant, that's good for a catch up or dinner before a movie. They have excellent chicken burgers and a wide variety of foods on their menu, and are accommodating towards requests for alternative side dishes. They've also got a pretty good rewards/loyalty system where they will give you a free dinner on your birthday. They also have San Pellegrino mineral water, which doesn't seem that common in the NT.

On their menu it says that if you have any dietary requirements the staff are happy to discuss menu options with you. I told the server I couldn't have egg, and would the beef & bacon burger be ok? He said without sauce it should be fine. Later he came out and said that the beef is actually mixed with egg, and they were substituting it with chicken. A while after that a woman came to the table to let me know that the bun had egg in it, and they were just going to serve it without a bun. At no point did they offer me another menu to change my order, or even suggest that was an option. I ordered a beef & bacon burger, then was served grilled pepper chicken with chips, lettuce, and 2 tomato slices. I understand that egg is a tricky ingredient, and because of that I'm quite flexible, and understanding. I would have preferred if the waiter had admitted he wasn't sure, and checked with the kitchen when he first took my order. My partner said his risotto was alright, and the decor is nice.

My partner and i have been coming since they opened, at least twice a week. Any of the Risottos are to die for, beer on tap and the breakfast menu tip top. Staff are attentive, courteous and always welcoming. I couldn't recommend a restaurant any more highly. ��

Brunch with my friend, food was lovely, I had exotic mushrooms and feta with sour dough toast and my friend had eggs benedict, but with the sauce in a seperate pot. Feta was a little shy and sauce a little thick but all in all great value for money. The place had a good atmosphere, swift service, friendly staff and great coffee!! Will defiantly be going back again. For anyone who's had a negative experience in a place, don't write it off after one visit, you wouldn't do that with your favourite place that had a down moment, just go back, share your concerns and allow the place to rectify the issue. Well done guys!!

Amazing service for late night after movie dinner. Fantastic food and cocktails. Beautiful friendly people serving. Every time we dine here they never disappoint, highly recommend.

I am regular here. Tonight service has been exceptional as always. Tonight have ordered steak with steamed vegetables, drinks for me and my husband everything was served on our table very quick. Great atmosphere. Strongly recommend this place for lunch and dinner and best tasting coffee in Casuarina.

Love this place have eaten here a few times and always amazing food. Today my mum went to order somthing they have taken off the menu. But as my dad was in hospital he was craving somthing and they did not hesitate cooking him it. Legend thanks alot

We went yesterday for lunch. So much to choose from. Decided on nachos and a chicken noodle dish. Definitely not disappointed. Food was excellent and the service was great too. Will definitely be going back before we head home. Highly recommend

Waited 3/4 for anyone to take our order for entrees then we had to ask waiter. Yet they were at our table every 15 min to see if we needed drinks. Bruschetta just terrible so not worth the money. Mains were nice Overall ok place to eat. Little bit overpriced !!!!

such a variety of cuisines from seafood Thai curry to mixed grill plate, pastas, pizzas and the rest! Found the staff to be super friendly. been there gd handful of times and no complaints with the food. relaxed dining and family friendly!

Best Indian chicken curry ever, never had a meal here that l have been disappointed in and the service is great 👍

We caught up with my son for a quick lunch. He said this was a fav of his so we expected a reasonable meal. We sat outside as it wasn't so humid as other days. We were pleasantly surprised on the selection of food and also catered for gluten free, my problem. I had a lovely gluten free pasta dish with chicken and avocado , just yum and the others agreed as well about they dishes. Looking forward to going back.

Honestly a great Darwin restaurant! Family friendly, fun yet stylish decor that suits all occasions. Amazing atmosphere and delicious dishes such as braised beef cheeks, yum! Impeccable service, from the lovely ladies Gabby, Sophia and Regina!

Atmosphere and service was great but the prices are far too high for the lack of food you receive on your plate left hungry and disappointed after such high cost won't be returning!

We ordered 3 takeaway pizzas last night - $60 worth. Never again, for an average of $20 each, one would expect them to be better than domino's - and they were definitely not - toppings were sparse and so much crust. Very disappointed.
