Review Bruce Charcoal Chicken - Darwin

Chantelle Kuhn
Consistent with their awesome service. Can’t beat their Portuguese chicken, pork and chips.

Has been my favourite go-to place since they were located at Sabine road. Lovely food and lovely people.

Best beef and black bean in Darwin, amazing prices

Cheapest and most delicious Chinese food in the Darwin area. Really nice people! Such a short distance from my home, so it's always my go to place when I want a little Chinese take out.

A local friendly food business, always fresh and always good. Bruce's has been a Darwin icon for many years with most of the locals having been there to eat or know of it. Now located in Nightcliff and run now by Bruce's family keeping the same quality and friendly service.

Gone down hill since Bruce left. The bloke running the show actively bad mouths the other local businesses in the area. Not a great vibe and average food.

The food has always been amazing. Been eating the food here since their original location and have never had a bad thing to say. A must try if you are visiting or new in Darwin!

Relatively inexpensive, but hugely disappointing. My BBQ pork chow mein hardly had any flavour. The fried noodles — as you can see — lacked some kind of sauce or spices even. Plus, my food felt undercooked as I was chewing. The vegetables in the dish were quite cheap, too. At least the barbecued pork tasted as I'd expect, but totally unworthy of praise. I ordered off the menu because the premade takeaway food in the restaurant looked completely unappetising when I stumbled upon this place an hour before close. Stale-looking grub under heat lamps. Evidently a "freshly prepared" meal didn't turn out much better. I was hungry and desperate for something close by, but I really regret going here. I can't comment on Bruce's charcoal chicken, but his Chinese takeaway drastically needs improvement. I walked to Woolies afterward for some cheap chicken wings and crisps because I was completely unsatisfied by dinner. Any self-respecting person who's eaten decent Asian cooking before should avoid this place like the plague. Unless you're seriously price conscious with dead taste buds, I recommend that you stay away. I've eaten better mi goreng instant noodles, I kid you not. 🥡
