Review Pizza Capers - Darwin

Peter THOMAS
This was my first visit. The pizza was tasty, with plenty of topping. We ordered ahead, by phone, but still had to wait 20 minutes when we got there, and there was only one other customer - and apparently, he was unhappy. But that was none of my business. Prices were a lot more expensive than most chains - more in the "boutique pizza" class. But the quality was a lot better too. Several tables & chairs inside the shop. Plenty of parking, but none of it undercover.

Had to click on that one star just to write a review. The first time I had pizzas from here, it was soggy and too much topping. Couldn't eat it. Wanted to give it another go few months after (yesterday), went to the store to purchase pizzas. After more than half hour, no pizzas and when we approached the counter, they had no trace of the order. Asked for a refund and walked away. Worst customer service, she appeared to be asleep with her eyes open. Had to repeat everything we said. Should have known to walk away after the first experience.

Honestly did not have a high expectation going in, almost walked out after reading the menu. Totally freaked out after seeing crispy potato chips on the pizza. Ordered the chicken avocado, ready in 20min. One word, Amazing. Went back 2 weeks later, could not stop thinking about the menu. Ordered 4 pizzas, ready in 20min?? BAM!!! One word, Delicious.

So my main issue with them is that they make dominos look good. Their website never works, so you call them, they then charge you more because your not doing it online. when the pizza arrives (1 to 2 hours later) the meat is dry and chewy, sauce nonexistent and you're lucky if it's luke warm. The worse thing is the customer service, you have an issue and the store manager will tell you "not our problem" and then yell at you down the phone so you cant get a word in till you hang up out of sheer frustration... -3 out of 10 would no recommend unless they are the only place open.. and then maybe a pie from the servo is a better option.

We ordered a two serves of Arancini Balls and two pizzas. The young brunette girl then came over and told us they only had enough for one serving and asked if we'd like a serve of chicken wings as an alternative, so we agreed. After the long wait, a friend of mine had to get up and ask what the hold up was. They said that the pizzas were ready but they had run out of chicken wings and gave us a garlic bread as another alternative and then said we could have a free drink for the inconvenience. We sat down and then realised we didn't get our serve of arancini balls, so yet again we had to get up and ask. After asking we got them. On the menu it had said a serving of 6 served on a bed of baby spinach and finished with Parmesan cheese. We opened the box to find four arancini balls with no baby spinach or Parmesan cheese to be found. So we went to the counter for around the fourth time tonight to ask what had happened to the rest of our food and asked for a refund, a young blonde girl then came over handing us $5 and said the rest of the money went towards the garlic bread and the "complimentary" drink. Let alone the 40 minute wait and the more then terrible customer service, the pizza was mostly enjoyable.

We just ordered a pesto chicken pasta and there was nothing in the dish which had any pesto at all. It was very confusing and disappointing. Just cream and pasta, whoever prepared and sold that dish to us should be ashamed they charged money for it. I wouldn't even feed it to my dog. The pizza was better but very dry, flavourless and overpriced. We wouldn't go back there again!

About twice the price of popular competitor, Domino's, but hardly twice the service or quality. Ingredients are obviously better quality and the menu is better than Domino's, but they usually take at least half an hour to have a pizza ready. Pizza Capers are a chain but charge gourmet prices. I'd rather go to a local pizza place and get more toppings for the same price.

Worst Pizza Capers pizza I have ever experienced, I have been to many throughout Quuenslan but this one here in Darwin is a shocker, the pasta was great but the pizza lacked topping, on the wall there is a sign that says "only our boxes taste like cardboard" that maybe so in every other franchise but not here, was like cardboard & guess what, they couldn't cut this cardboard, it was barely serrated - never again. Once bitten!
