Absolutely EXCELLENT! Not only an amazing range of vegan/vegetarian fresh dishes but a wonderful store packed with every type of berry, nut, legume and vegan substitute one could dream of! Enjoying the vegan lentil patties alongside the lentil and vegetable soup (I've never had something so boasting with flavour) was truly the highlight of my day. Not to mention their selection of raw and refine-sugar free desserts and pastries. Just amazing, who would have thought- in Daylesford!
A good cafe/produce store for the healthy hippy at heart. Probably not everyone's cup of (chai) tea but I enjoy finding a good selection of healthy, allergy friendly foods. Had the curry lentil patties & salad for lunch and a raw choc mint cheesecake, both gluten and dairy free. Hit the spot for some healthy cravings after a weekend of indulgence.
Harvest will appeal to the 'hippee' within offering up a host of non mainstream culinary delights which should appeal to those who secretly yearn for something different. Recommended
OMG! The best meal in Daylesford. My mother, brother and I were passing through Daylesford on the weekend (stopped in on our way back home). Couldn't get a park in the main street, lucky for us, because we stumbled upon the lovely Harvest Cafe.
This place is just off the main street, so it would be easy to miss.
...I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING THE TIME TO EXPLORE FURTHER THAN THE MAIN STREET...
The building is old and quaint, both inside and out . The staff were young and happy, they were so friendly (they stopped and chatted to their customers - one young girl was singing as she was clearing tables!), but the best bit was the food they served us.
My brother was tempted to try the "Big Breakfast", when we saw one come out he suddenly realised it was not for the faint hearted. Instead he opted for an "Open Lamb Kebab". He has always been a fussy eater, and he said it was just perfect!
My mother is always hard to feed, as she is a coeliac and a vegetarian. Harvest Cafe was able to cater to her needs, providing a delicious home made Gluten Free Vegetable Pie, it was laden high with oven roasted vegetables, and she was very impressed. She rarely gets to eat pastry anymore.
Myself - Well I decided to try this funny / quirky local delight - the "Chilli Fries", they were amazing, the flavour was great and it was something different to what I would usually eat.
I give Harvest Cafe a "BIG" thumbs up, Our meals were great sizes, presented as nicely as any meal I have had before, but a fraction of the price we expected to pay in Daylesford...
I will certainly be going there again, and will not think twice about avoiding the main streets in country towns again when passing through.
What a gem!!
All 'round fabulous. Went to the Harvest cafe today after a recommendation. I now will drive from Ballarat to Daylesford just to get a pie! The portions were huge and the flavours; INCREDIBLE. Not to mention the staff were some of the friendliest I've seen in a long while. There were so many choices of amazing pies that the chef even came out to help me decide which to choose, and the two women who were working were so polite and lovely. A new favourite for me and I will be telling as many people as I can.
The weekend service is fabulous- best coffee in town ($3.50 for organic coffee and milk, the girl who makes it had a great smile, friendly attitude... and can make a mean flat white!) The cafe looks empty without the produce, but the pies they make in store are beautiful! Will definitely be going back next time my partner and I are in town :) try the tofu roti wrap or one of their muffins!
Mineral Springs Foodies
+4.5
Usually ok but last two times there was disappointed. Will give it another go again.
Their Beef & Chicken pies....YUM!. We are locals from Hepburn Springs and enjoy lunch at Harvest about once a month. Their beef and mushroom pie is my hubby's favorite. I sometimes buy their HUGE pies cold (many varieties) and take home for dinner. Quick and delicious. We don't rave re the coffee either but its quite fine. Generous portions (pies come with nice fresh salad) and their muffins take two days to get through!! Good food - good value!
Delicious French toast and fresh juice but had to wait 45min to get it!
Country eatin'. Food at Harvest cafe is pretty good. Portion sizes are decent and it is a delight to actually find a place that can cook a proper poached egg (can be hit or miss at some places.) My only issue with Harvest Cafe is that their coffee is only okay and the waiting times seem to be too long; 30 minutes to wait for breakfast seems excessive. Overall the food here is great, good value for money, however the coffee and waiting times are a bit lacking.
Ate and drank here on the weekend. Plenty of car parking available right out the front, ample room at our table for a pram/highchair. Staff were friendly, meals were plentiful and lattes& mochas matched city standards! Reasonably priced - alot on menu to choose from. Clean toilets & amnenities. Perfect cafe for people eating with kids and alot of young couples there too. Also picked up some organic produce and groceries whilst we were there. Just what Daylesford needs. Will definitely go there again, especially in summer for an icecream.
Favourite!!. Great coffee made with organic milk, ditto for the Chai tea made with Bonsoy
Try the falafel salad & one of the tasty pies or pasties, this is one of my fav places in Daylesford!
Friendly staff, awesome menu especially for people with special dietary requirements. Can also buy fresh veg & other pantry/deli supplies.
Referring to Scotts bad dining experience at the Harvest Cafe during the long weekend in March, 2011.
We ate there twice over that weekend and our table had a great dining experience, it is always busy and we are always told of our waiting time from when we order. We were sitting by the open fire and I overheard the bug in the fries senario and the head wait staff came over and I heard her say it wasn't deep fried but the doors were open in the shop and apologised and gave a refund to their table. The table looked happy to me when they left. Maybe if you had a problem you shouldve asked for the manager to talk about your dissapointment. As for our table we will be recommending to others as the best dining cafe in Daylesford.
