Review Seachange Cafe - Dee Why

Evelyn Marques
I had the best experience ever at Sea Change Cafe. Super amazing environment, food came up so fast and fresh. I had my first Açaí bowl ever today. I was always resistant to it as I am from the Amazon part of Brazil and I didn’t feel it would taste good but it tastes heavenly!! Couldn’t recommend them more!

I really like this place, coffee is good, food is tasty and the waiters are cool. Waitresses / waiters are very nice to us and attentive. The view of Dee Why beach is also very pretty. Parking is very easy around Dee Why. So, this place ticked all the boxes. Highly Recommended.

Seachange Cafe have a well established reputation for doing a quality breakfast in my local area! Today didn't disappoint from my memory of eating there in the past. Great food, Coffee, & service. 😁 Always plenty of choices on the menu. Will be back again in the near future.

Best cafe in Dee Why to go for breakfast/lunch. Food is excellent and always comes out super quick, also huge servings. Beautiful spot for breaky, just make sure you don’t accidentally confuse this place with the similarly named place next door which is nowhere near as good.
EVELYN HEAP
Amazing customer service, huge portions and the best eggs benny. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful and checked on our table. Would go here again! (A lot better than Sea Bar next door).
Frances Gray
Best Eggs Benedict. We keep returning. Excellent service. Manager checked that everyone was happy. Stayed engaged with customers and his staff. We overheard him saying that they were staying open later than usual, because they were so busy.
Jacob Faulkner
Had a really good experience here. The waiter was so professional, full of energy and was very good at his job. It was refreshing to see someone who was happy. It was a very enjoyable experience with really good food and I will be back again.

Gone terribly down hill since the cafe changed ownership. This was the best cafe in Dee Why for years and years, known for its big portions and incredible quality plus friendly staff, Always packed but worth the wait. Now its food quality has gone seriously down hill even though they have tried to keep the same menu. We waited 45mins for only one of our meals to come out, the next came out after 65mins! and the eggs were uncooked and veg cake completely overcooked it was a dry hard square with cold roast tomatos. The manager (or owner im unsure) Was running around like a clumsy headless chook. Wouldnt apologise to anyone about the late food and avoided eye contact to anyone asking questions, and would brush them off when they did ask,yet he kept welcoming customers in and not telling them they would have to wait an hour for food. The poor waitress was having to go around apologising after him cause he was so incompetent. This is the 3rd visit in about 6 weeks that have all ended with disaster. Because of how great this cafe used to be I keep trying to give it another chance but im now im completely done. The owner needs to find a new manager that actually knows how to run a cafe

My favourite place to eat!!! I LOVE the food here and the service is second to none! Can't recommend this place enough! Thanks Seachange!

Great yummy food, friendly service and excellent views of Dee Why beach. We love the burgers for lunch or salmon for dinner. Something on the menu for everyone. Our 'go to' place for a quick bite or special occasion. Always a great experience at SeaChange Cafe!

We ordered the bean and avo salad, squid salad and an acai bowl. The acai was just ice and flavourless. The salads were extremely overpriced at $26 for what they were. They tasted awful and were very basic. We were really disappointed as this place has so many good reviews.

Exceptional food! Great value! Best location! But the staff make it all worth it, so friendly, cheerful and helpful. I've eaten everywhere in Dee Why and Sea Change is my #1 go to now amazing job guys.

Best breakfast around! You can't go past the benedict sauce and the potato rosti. Absolute heaven. Have been going there for years. Always busy when others aren't. That tells you something. Keep up that great quality and service guys! See you again soon
Paul Lindsay
We have been here twice now and both times the food has been great, also the service was exceptional the staff all work together to make sure the customers are happy, not many places have the food and service spot on, keep up the good work, we will be back.

We had breakfast there on Sunday, great service, friendly staff and yummy food 😋👌🏽

My ultimate go to place. Definitely the first one that comes to my mind when I want a relaxing breakfast or a fun dinner. Staff is great, owner is friendly, food is excellent. Cufos to the barista who always makes a coffee art in my cuppa.

I love it there. The owner & staff are super friendly. Love the menu & hefty servings. Great breakfast served all day. Whenever I'm meeting friends for lunch we always go there. Great views.

Had the amazing eggs benne however my salmon was overdone and was too dry.... slurped up the hollandaise source. Besides the most expensive part of the plate... it was great
Debora Gaby
Best brekkie in Dee why! It's always busy but they find ways to accommodate everyone. The hollandaise sauce is to die for. Staff always friendly

First things first: these portions are HUGE. Like Texas huge. So if you’re not that hungry or trying to keep things light, I strongly suggest sharing with another person. I ordered the salmon Benedict on sourdough and it comes with two slices of buttered toast, two grilled salmon fillets, two poached eggs (can order fried or scrambled), and tons of sauce. Really flavorful and rich. $21

The cafe is small and quaint and seems very popular, even on a weekday. It’s poorly designed so if you’re trying to pay at the register, you’ll block the kitchen access and the waitresses will be annoyed with you. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Coffee is good but if you’re sitting in a breeze way, it’ll be cold in a few minutes.

Overall, great value for portions although they started doing a surcharge of 1% for card transactions and 10% surcharge for all Sunday transactions.

Check the kitchen and toilets and see if you dare to eat there! Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
Hungry Diner
The location is great, right in the beach and it’s a fitting name for a cafe.

Big menu with lots of breakfast and lunch options.

I had the burger was good, but their pancakes and coffee are deliciously satisfying.

Big portions.

Fantastic Mediterranean inspired cafe by the water at Dee Why. Easily the pick of all the eateries along the street. Some of the most satisfying salads you can get, cannot go wrong with any of them. Quality ingredients and massive portions that can be easily shared between 2.

Specialty here seems to be the variety of grilled meats and seafood that appear as mains and also on the salads, but with the salads you can get more variety and the way they do the vegetables and dressing underneath is quite tasty too.

Selection of other breakfast and lunch items are mediocre at best, so yes I'm basically giving this place a 5 based on their salads alone and that should be saying alot. I hear they also do decent paellas for dinner, but have never tried.

Burger:
4/5 sooo good!

Smoked omelette:
2.5/5 way too salty, destroyed the taste.

Mocha:
4/5

Strawberry smoothie:
3/5
I liked that you eliminated plastic straws and used fresh strawberries. Just thought it was too milky and it's as if I ordered strawberry milk.

Price:
3/5

Service:
5/5 the gentlemen who served us were both friendly and easy to talk to

Location:
5/5 right opposite the beach yo

Interior/ambience:
3.5/5

Lovely dining experience here. Great service, chill ambience and delicious food. So much more to try! Would do a sea change just for this cafe.

This is a great find. The service is very good. The view to the beach is beautiful. It’s a cute little place with indoor and outdoor seating as you can see from the photos. It has a very trendy vibe and the clientele to match. The food is very good. My salmon and prawn salad gave everyone at the table food envy. It was amazing. We also had barramundi and chips as well as the Californian breaky with grilled salmon and poached eggs. Both were very good too but the salad was the pick of the meals. All the meals were enormous and great value for money. The chef thought the grilled salmon wasn’t big enough on the Californian so he sent out more! We thought there was more than enough to start with. Very generous. The bathrooms need an upgrade but for a beach cafe it’s probably fine. I loved the food and the setting here and I’d definitely be back first chance I had.

Service here is amazing! It is so busy but they are all lovely and attentive. The food wasn't quite as good as I was expecting. We ordered the chicken special, coconut prawns, and barramundi and chips. It was nice, the prawns were sweet and came with an interesting salad. The barramundi was a tad bland I think it needed more salt. I had a delicious juice though - apple watermelon and mint. It was the busiest cafe on the street, and the menu is huge. Could be that we picked wrong! I think go for the basics.

An early morning breakkie on this beautiful beach was a good idea. The place was really busy and I am sure it is for a reason. The star of the day was their farmers omelette - cooked to perfection and fluffy. The hot chocolate and the coffee was amazing too. Australia can never be wrong with their coffee man! The staff was really friendly and tried to accommodate everyone who comes in.
Food - 4/5
Service - 4/5
Ambience - 3/5
Value for Money - 4/5
Stopped by Sea Change cafe enroute to Collaroy and it was the best decision ever as we discovered the delicious garlic Turkish bread drizzled with warm Gorgonzola cheese and honey on the menu. Fluffy on the inside, crunchy on the outside and full of flavor. We went back for seconds the day after.

The warm salad with flash fried salt &pepper squid, coconut crumbed prawns, lime and palm sugar dressing and chimmichurri was good too. Dishes are very generous in size and reasonably sized! Will definitely go back if we are in the area.
Blurred Limes
The only spot to go to for breakfast in Dee Why! This place is always busy and it is for a reason. The all day breakfast menu is incredible and the staff manage with the volume of customers incredibly well.

The Californian is my favourite dish and love that this place has gluten free bread as well. Absolutely fantastic, love it.

Sea Change is a very busy cafe on The Strand at Dee Why – possibly the busiest. It is situated between many busy cafes in the area and opposite Dee Why beach; perfect for a meal before or after taking a dip at the beach. Lovely cafe for breakfast or brunch and where you will see all the locals on a weekend morning. This was our second time here and we knew about this cafe from a blogger who had posted an adorable picture of a 3D coffee latte art on her instagram. The cafe has a huge array of food items on their menu as they are open for dinner time too.
Sassenach
Out of the many cafes along the Esplanade this one was the busiest, which we took as a good sign. It was a glorious morning, just a touch on the cool side so perfect for sitting outside in the spring sun.

The coffee arrived quickly, quite hot but delicious. The menu is large with plenty of options for a mixed crowd. Our meals arrived shortly after and the best way to describe them was: a large hot mess. The portion sizes are enormous! No one was able to finish and upon leaving the waitress said they do half servings, good to know for next time. I didn’t read the menu properly so my salmon fillet (not smoked salmon) was a surprise but well paired with the zesty tomato salad. However it was too much food.

The meals were good, properly cooked poached eggs and even though the Rosti was more of a rissole it was delicious. It’s definitely the place for hungry surfer boys! Will bookmark this cafe for next time we are in the area, lunches look great too.

Love this little cafe for breakfast, lunch or dinner! Wow! What a huge menu! What don't they have! For dinner dining, focused on the seafood section and finally chose to share the Seafood Paella with barramundi, black mussels, squid, prawns etc! What a fantastic dish and certainly enough for 2 people if not 3! The staff here are super friendly and you can understand why this place is a favourite with the locals. Lots of hugs between staff and customers going on! A fun night out!

I went here on a Saturday for their latte art. The lady who works there is amazing. She does 3D art as well as regular but fancy latte art. We also shared some really delicious banana bread. They were super busy, staff were dealing with the busy crowds well and food seemed to come out fast. They were all lovely! They offer blankets for you as it has an outdoor area too.

Fantastic cafe for a nice breakfast or brunch. Love the hollandaise sauce! I can drink it by the bucket 😉 Great value for money. Also Very fast and friendly service.
Located just on the beachfront, this cozy cafe has an amazing view. Judging by their menu, their omelettes are their signature dish. I ordered an espresso and a farmer's omelette. The coffee is good but to my surprise the omelette was HUGE! It was a Spanish omelette so it was not as light and creamy as i've expected but it was still enjoyable. There is so much in this omelette and they give you 2 pieces of bread as well. I am also very interested in their winter dinner menu. Looks like I will have to make another trip to Sea change some time soon.

This cafe used to be amazing, like 5/5 amazing. I went here today w a couple of friends and the food was average at best. How disappointing.

I had a bacon and egg roll w benedict sauce. The eggs ever fried and soft but the bacon didn't taste that good.

I had a strong skinny latte and a piccolo and the coffee was ok but a bit bitter.

My friends had a strawberry and banana smoothie and an egg and hash brown etc brekkie which was good apparently.

All the staff here were new today so maybe this place has changed hands? The waiter was friendly and helpful.

Overall this was an average experience from what was once a great experience.
Jmanchatty
Quite average and hugely disappointed

Food was quite average, the fish was flaky and the beef burger wasnt great, average beef burger

Coffee wasnt great and very average

Service slow but expected considering youre next to the beach, great view brings up the rating just a bit

Otherwise not recommend

nice little cafe,i ordered sea change, I like the hollandaise sauce, very creamy & tasted, poached eggs cooked perfect! Prices are reasonable!

Very good food, best value for your buck as it's massive quantities. I was so full half way in my dish, couldn't finish it and even skipped lunch that day, kept me going till dinner time hahaha. The prices were a bit too high but the food was amazing so totally worth every cent. Went there on Easter Sunday so the place was packed but didn't have a problem finding a table with the help of the friendly staff. Very efficient and prompt service. Definitely go back!
Sydneybelly
Cute little busy cafe with beach front views! Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was good nothing spectacular but a nice homely feel. Coffee was good too :)

grrrreat place for breakfast by the beach. Me and my partner come here for breakfast nearly every weekend.
good coffee and good service too!
Thay
Ordered the farmers omelette (salmon, red onion, capers, melted cheese on top) with bread, it was delicious and generous serving. The salt and pepper squid salad with coconut prawns was good too, only downside was that it was a bit pricey for a cafe, the salad being $26. The staff were all very friendly.
Hannah.tetlo
Not sure what all the fuss is about.. Egg whites way underdone, completely over priced, plates were tiny! Which was frustrating but probably to make the meals look bigger, coffee came after food. Don't recommend. In there defends we went there on a public holiday so maybe busier that usual?? But for a surcharge of 12.5% I expected more.
Brunch On Joy
Luckily SeaChange was recommended to me as I would've walked straight past it. Tucked between Sea Bar and WockInn this little beachside cafe has good food, generous servings, a great atmosphere and best of all - all day breakfast.
Dignifiable
We had never been there before but was attracted to the place due to the popularity by the locals. Portuguese Chicken on turkish pide 'The Local' Although it was somewhat expensive, the food was quite good and portions were generous.

Seachange Cafe is a reliable and family friendly cafe on Dee Why beach. They are famous for their breakfasts which are available all day until 6pm and paella nights. Grab a table outside with a pram as space inside is limited.

O and Mum had the Californian (AUD19.90) – grilled salmon on potato rosti with eggs and rocket and tomato toss! Generous serving of salmon and potato rosti! Not sure how they finished it but they did!

Yum and lovely service. Really friendly service, nice setting and a buzzy night in Dee Why.
Good advice from staff, went with a selection of so called baby bowls - they are really generous! Fejoiada is delicious, but I loved it all.
Limited wine list but all bases covered at least!
Do not miss the garlic bread with Gorgonzola and honey. Amazing! Going back for paella soon, it looked perfect.

Wet and cold in Dee Why but Seachange was warm & friendly. It was busy, almost full, but coffee and food were both served quickly. I had the Californian breakfast - grilled salmon with poached egg and rosti. The serving was generous. Small complaints were:1 egg was perfectly poached but the other had a hard yolk; the salmon was a little dry and the tossed tomato & rocket vinaigrette kinda overpowered the whole show. I ordered mine with a side of hollandaise which I think complemented the salmon better, but hey, that's just me.
None of this would stop me from coming back and giving it another go. Thumbs up.

Coffee that brightens my day. It was such a pleasant surprise when this latte was brought to me.. It absolutely made my day. Thank you so much super barista of SeaChange Cafe for the best coffee!

Great selection of delicious salads, lovely location, but waitress not friendly. As locals, we have eaten here several times as we love the selection on the menu, especially the interesting and tasty salads.

They don't take bookings, which is tricky for a couple of families meeting up, but they do take your number after you rock up, so they let you know when a table is available. Even on busy days this has only taken around 20 minutes for a table of eight.

Seating area is small and crowded but this is offset by the the picturesque vista of Dee Why beach plus in winter it's very cosy under the powerful heaters in the semi-al-fresco section.

Portions are generous, including the salads, and I hate wasting food so next time I think we'd order some plates to share.

On our recent visit yesterday/Sunday, despite our cheery disposition, our waitress was fairly surly and failed to even once manage a smile whilst serving us.
Jessica Orlando
The food is really good here, great breakfast menu... Only issue is that the staff is a bit rude... I ordered an omelette which was really big and could barely eat half... After we paid for the bill and proceeded to leave the waiter yelled out at me and said "didn't you like the meal" and I turned around and "excuse me" she looked at me and said "well you didn't finish your meal"... By this point other diners were looking at us and I started to feel embarrassed. I told her that the meal was lovely but unfortunately the portion sizes are a bit big for me as I don't eat that much. She then told me I could have ordered it in a smaller size.... This was not written anywhere in the menu otherwise I would have obviously ordered a smaller size. Hopefully they hire better staff who don't embarrass their customers but other than that it's a great little place.
Cathy P.
Fabulous paella. Love the paella - thought it seemed small at first but it was way more than 2 people could eat - seafood was very tender and the rice very tasty - drinks and extras are all on the pricey side but considering it's Dee Why waterfront, the rent is probably a killer! Will definitely be back - want to try the breakie!

AMAAAAZING!!. This is the by far the best brekkie I have EVER had. The owner is extremely hospitable and patient considering the queues outside on a sunny day. Food is simply lip smacking and portions are extremely generous. If you are ever around Dee Why / northern beaches looking for the most amazing Bacon egg roll this is the place. $8.50 for a monstor which is enough to keep you going for the rest of the day. Worth the money and wait!!
Charlie
Only place for breaky with a hangover. Californian a must. You will not eat all day after. Perfection on a plate!
DeeWhyLocal
Great brekkie. We go here for brekkie but never on the weekend. It is a tiny place so no wonder there is a queue. The food is good. Fresh and tasty. Coffee not bad...depends on who makes it.
The tables are on top of each other as it is a very small place so we only go during the week. You find yourself having to stand up to let people move behind you which I don't enjoy when it's too busy.
love the Californian.
You guys will continue to see us.
Peter Thorburn
Pretty awesome Sunday Breakfast. Really quick service, awesome quality and quantity of food (seriously, was about 5 scrambled eggs :) ). Perfect experience!

Only the best cafe in Sydney.... Sea Change cafe is always busy.. and for good reason!
Whether it is the all day breakfast that you're after, a delicious beachside lunch, an afternoon snack or a yummy casual dinner that you're after - sea change is the place to go.
Things to try on the menu are the acai bowl, acai shake, the cous cous and kumara burger, the portugese chicken burger with avocado and capsicum and also.. the kangaroo steaks with rice, beans and haloumi is delicious. Also must-try's: "the veg out" which is delicious for bfast, lunch or dinner - poached eggs with a cous cous patty, lots of greens and other vegies, and the porridge! Yum.

Im sure everything else on the menu is just as amazing but these are just to name a few!

Definitely go here. They are always the busiest along the main strip of Dee Why cafe's but if you cant get a table straight away.. wait!
Barflairer
Chef needs to find his mojo. The food here is great but I think the chef is getting a bit over it. I'm finding the food has lacked the flair it once did and it has become a process of turning over food vs making great meals. They've also raised the price a fair bit and I'm finding myself coming here less and less. Still the place makes really good food and they do all day breakfast so it's always a win.
Erikka
Delicious food and coffee, great views and lovely staff. This place is a winner! Best brunch in dee why
Master Diner
Spectacular food. No wonder these guys have a 94% rating. Food from a chef that obviously loves food and waiting staff that care. Thank you seachange. It's times like this we wished we were back in Sydney and not stuck in a little back water in South Australia.

Best coffee in Dee Why. Delicious breakfast, lovely coffee!!

Food was delicious, very fresh and well put together. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Favourite in Dee Why.
Food_Rampage_AM @INSTA
Nyum!. Place was packed on friday night, had to wait 20 min for a table of 4. Staff was friendly and attentive despite the crowd.

Generous size on the platter, various dips were good. Turkish bread was pillowy soft and full of flavour. Grilled barramundi was done right, moist on the inside yet lightly browned on the outside. Again generous size.

Worth the wait, worth the price. Will return!

Breakie all day, good food and really different menu, friendly staff, cosy with a good view of the ocean. Best choice for breakfast on dee why beach.
