This is hands down the best sushi train on the Northern Beaches. Always fresh and great variety.
How can I describe Dee Why Sushi Train in 5 words YumYumYum Yum Yum.
I normally don't write reviews on Facebook but I just had to after I went there for lunch today.
Hands down it was the best sushi I've ever had
Best Sushi train on Sydney. Great food, Fast service, A friendly atmosphere and excellent staff!
Maybe I'm just biased but my family and my wife and I have been coming to this place for a couple of years now and absolutely love this place. We understand a good place will have a que and it does in peak times. However, they manage the restaurant to perfection and you never feel like your just ''waiting around''. The variety is on-point. I'm a Sashimi fan but this is the ONLY area that's not fully catered for. However, if you love chicken Tempura, Wagyu Beef or Salmon then you're in heaven. I always order a Miso soup and this is the best I've come across from a ''chain''. The Japanese owner makes the place feel more like hers rather than a Chain Restaurant. The reason this place is packed every weekend is not because its rubbish, its because its great value. This place has a loyalty card which is generous and I also recommend it. Few restaurants make me keep coming back as I always think there are too many ''fish in the restaurant sea'' to go back. But this one makes us come back regularly.
Moshi moshiiii!
Been coming here for a while now on a Sunday!
The variety and quality of the sushi is on point!
Personal favourite is the chicken karaage yumo!
The price is reasonable.
Staff are helpful and attentive.
Wait time is as expected for peak hour times 10-15 min. Rarely 20.
Will keep coming back.
New head chef with far more variety and better flavours than in the past. Staff are still a bit clueless but friendly.
When you're in the Northern Beaches, don't forget to visit the Sushi Train at Dee Why. This successful sushi chain serves great quality sushi, sashimi and a variety of main meals all at great quality with affordable pricing.
What I really liked about this restaurant was that despite the range of delicious sushi dishes and desserts coming along the train, the menu offered an incredible range of more vegetarian dishes, seafood and meat sushi and there was always a server available to take down any orders for you, which were not already on the train. It was a very efficient system, and our server told us that the train’s dishes changed frequently, to showcase everything on the menu! :D
Love this sushi train. So much variety it's hard to choose. There's no competitors that even come close around Dee Why area. While the food was great, service was a bit disappointing on my most recent visit. The restaurant had lots of people leaving at the same time and the queue had at least 10 parties outside. It took excessively long to clear the tables and get the queue moving. I even took a photo as I was wondering if they were aware of how many ppl were waiting outsise. I am guessing experienced front of house staff were on holidays...
Reasonable price. The staff were helpful and attentive. It was busy on the weekend but the service was really quick. The salmon belly was amazing for people who love the fatty part. Good variety of desserts and drinks. They also have gyoza, dimsim, and several vegetarian dishes. The wagyu beef on the sushi was thick and juicy. The flavours were vey nice except the hamo sushi. The hamo was too dry and tasteless for me.
Have been coming regularly the past year, albeit some were for takeaway with COVID19 restrictions. Now that we can dine-in again, things are back to covid-normal: check in via QR code; better sanitised tables; seatings spread out, therefore, limited the number of customers inside but move pretty quickly (30-40 minutes wait peak dinner time).
Sushi are fresh, tasty, as their turnover is fast. Unagi is yum (eel - my fave), hotate (scallops), sashimi. It is a pity they don't have uni (sea urchin).
The vegetable tempura undon my partner ordered was delicious, to my surprise. The soup was very well-rounded and perfectly seasoned.
Staff were helpful and friendly. Fast with clearing and sanitising areas, very strict with QR registration. Our local Japanese restaurant.
Delicious, relatively affordable sushi 🍣, and nice (but somewhat expensive) sashimi 😊
Only thing is the tuna didn't seem as great quality (a bit chewy), but I just had more salmon instead.
I appreciate the ticketing system when dining in, allowing people waiting outside to sit instead of forming a line.
Great food. Great service. Loved the concept. Skip the deserts and have more Sushi 😄
When you see a long line of people waiting to get in, its for a very good reason! Give it a go. A well regarded local haunt. Kids will love it too.
