Review On Shore Cafe Brasserie - Dee Why

Powdery dust textured wedges. We asked for a side of wedges instead of chips and for the $5 mark up on price I'm sourly disappointed to receive a small portion which is not even freshly cut. Let me try the chicken burger... Dry! With one piece of tomato and no sauce this bread chicken bacon and piece of lettuce leaves the mouth feeling deflated and juiceless. The ingredients are okay but this is certainly not mouth watering(nor is it the spicy jalapeno burger we ordered, it is dead plain!). Sadly, the simple act of tipping some remaining sweet chilli sauce from the wedges alleviated and vastly improved from the dry mouth effect of this burger. Other restaurants at dee why beach offer much better portions of much better quality with much better smiles. I would recommend "On Shore" as a last resort option. Which for us it was, as all other cafes were not serving food on a weekday at 4pm.

Dined here for lunch. Service was quick and the food was very tasty and presented well. The place had a nice atmosphere and had views of the beach.

Great location, if u get a table with a sea view. Could be slightly more price competitive, but no complaints. Nothing out of the ordinary, but no surprises either. So I guess that's good.

Amazing! The owner is so friendly and welcoming. One of the waitresses is very grumpy and you can tell she doesn't like working there, she almost brings the mood down a little bit. However it's a lovely little cafe right on the beach. The food is fantastic as are the hot drinks.

Great value and nice place for family dining out! Fantastic beach front view, especially for a Sunday morning breakfast. Highly recommend.

Ordered two Nachos, pork and vegeterian for $40. Avocado threw me off in first place, definitely canned bought. I mean for the amount of money I paid for the food I could at least fresh avacado that does not have bitter aftertaste? Forget about other food that was just dumped on top of cornchips.

Second day of moving to Dee Why this place had amazing oysters however a little expensive for a dozen but still tasty.... great pork belly...lunch specials so much to choose from...definitely worth a try....

For breakfast I had an open DIY omelette (you choose the fillings), which interestingly came with a hash brown - which was quickly stolen by one of my boys. Mr Munch had the jumbo breakfast which was huge and full of your big breakfast favourites. Nothing on the breakfast menu costs more than about $19.00 and considering the large portion sizes I think this to be quite good value. Coffee was decent but not brilliant, I've had better brews from some of the other cafes along The Strand.

I didn't rate it<br/>The wait staff were forgetful several times and service was slow even though the majority of tables were empty.<br/>Three of us had ribs and we all complained they were overcooked and no one finished them for this reason.<br/>My partner told me the waiter needed to wear deodorant.<br/>The only good meal was the hamburger.<br/>I will not return

Great location, average food though. Came here for lunch on a nice day. Ordered the french toast which was completely drenched in maple syrup (ask for it on the side). Toast was nice the the fruit that was served with it wasn't fresh and looked like it had been cut and sliced a few hours earlier. Chicken schnitzel sandwich was good served with salad and chips. Its best to come here without expectations and just enjoy the view.

Hands down best chicken burger I've ever had .. EVER. And this is coming from an absolute burger lover ! <br/><br/>Chicken burger comes with melted cheese,crispy bacon, lettuce , tomato and a side of chips .. Very reasonable price and lots to choose from on the menu. Never leave the place hungry or unsatisfied!

Decor is nice, food was fresh, but we thought they had gone to catch the fish as they Took an hour for the main to come for us, although everyone else seemed to be getting served at a good pace. When I complained to the Vietnamese manager he was very defensive saying that everyone was experiencing bad service as it was a busy day. He didn't take responsibility of the poor service, and was quite rude. he stated obscure facts like " a rare steak takes 20/30 minutes to cook, " I think he needs a reality check and to stop being so tight. If poor service is given apologise and compensate approprately. We Won't be going back or recommending this reasturant to anyone. This place is run for the love of money and not the for the love of pleasure customer service and dining. it's obvious by the foreign "off the books" staff that this guy runs the place like a sweat shop not a beach side quality reasturant.

This restaurant doesn't know what it wants to be when it grows up. We should have known seeing dim sum, nachos and American pork ribs all on the one menu. I don't think they mastered any of them. The nachos were dreadful. The vegetables were bland and overcooked. The ribs were pretty good, but were coated in gluggy 'Asian sauce'. I don't know how anyone can recommend this restaurant.

We have been coming here for 4 years! Good, reliable service. A bit disappointed the menu has not been updated in that time but the food is still great. Wine list is a bit limited and could do with change. But we still recommend this place!

Breakfast!!!!. Always a great place for us to get breakfast! If anything, the range is a bit limited...but other than that, we keep coming back for the big breakfasts!

Fabulous breakfast. Wonderful breakfast. We were a large group, with a newborn. Staff are extremely hard working. Brekkie was divine. Only way it could be improved, fresh mushrooms not tinned. BUT do not let this put you off, fabulous food, great price. We will return.

This is the best eatery on the Northern Beaches!!

Not a problem.. I visited this cafe on a recent trip to Sydney and I have never felt right at home or looked after in a place so quickly.<br/><br/>I have severe allergies and you have to weigh up carefully the likelihood of being able to get a meal that firstly you can eat and secondly, without fear that it might get mixed up or contaminated with other things.<br/>The staff here were so warm, friendly and accomodating. In no time at all they had worked out a plain, delicious meal, double-checked things, and even suggested rice as an alternative to potatoes just in case they might get contaminated. The presentation for this meal was absolutely wonderful and my friend and I enjoyed the wait staffs company as much as our own! <br/>The attendant was even kind enough to tell me about the rice porridge she had constructed for her son who has similar anaphylaxis. A porridge I can't wait to try next time!<br/><br/>Some restaurants just have the expertise, talent and care to make you feel as though nothing is too hard or impossible, even ones as busy and popular as On Shore.<br/>Came as a tourist, felt like a local. Thank you.

Dinner Menu - very good value and quality. Service friendly but grabbing their attention can be a challenge. Overall - 3/5

Great coffee. If I was being really picky I'd say both coffee and banana bread a little small for the money. Super friendly staff. Will return.
