Review Jazz Ria - Deepdene

I totally loved eating there and I highly recommend it. They have great customer service and the most wonderful food. The food really tickles my taste buds! It doesn’t take along time for the food to arrive. Overall it’s a great Malaysian restaurant with the best food and service.

Had a very tasty enjoyable meal tonight, really enjoyed the mixed vegetables. Patrick on his own was doing a great front of staff job with many customers putting in their orders. Lovely food, great ambience Yvonne

Great local lunch spot, relaxed, fast service, well priced - $12.90 for Nasi lemak with chicken and $12 for Mee Goreng. Meals are well sized, tasty and authentic. They do lunch specials and also have a full menu to compliment. Seating is comfortable. There was a quiet tune of Jazz playing in the background, but needed to be turned up a bit. Photos of famous jazz players on the walls. Accept card has a toilet. Was busy when we came for lunch with a full array of families and friends of all ages. I would recommend

Nice Malaysian restaurant in Balwyn. Has a range of asian dishes to select from although not all are typically Malaysian. All the dishes we had were good, my favourite was probably the Pandan roti with icecream.

Highly recommend Jazz Ria for those looking for an authentic Malaysian experience. The food was absolutely amazing and the customer service from the restaurant team was outstanding. Thanks Jazz Ria, looking forward to ordering from you again.

Great little Malaysian restaurant. Went here for lunch, the lunch specials are well prices at $12 - $13, with a good selection. We went with a group of 6, and everyone loved their meal. I had the Roti Chicken Curry which was excellent. Very flavorsome and a good sized serve. The service was friendly and efficient, and the jazz music in the background makes for a nice vibe.

Very very bad management behaviour when I entered into the Resturant for dinning. I try to order some dish which I like and when I finalised one dish of $23.00 and requested the waiter not put beans in that dish because I am diabetic and avoid beans in the meal, I asked him to put mushrooms instead of beans then manger came to me in a very very rude way and start asking me the extra money for mushrooms which was equivalent to the price of another dish which was about $21.90, it was really insane and was talking to me very badly and every time he was continuously saying that I am very busy , I am very and not willing to listen and talking to me very rudely that if u want mushrooms , I will add extra $21.90 in the dish price. This is not acceptable at all and when I was leaving the Resturant , the manager start using very bad words with me. It looks to me that he didn’t want to serve me at all and act as a racist and that’s why he was asking too much money for mushrooms. We should avoid these types of restaurants which don’t have any manners and don’t know how to deal with customers. He could asked me $4-5 extra, which was not too bad, instead of making my insult which triggered me to leave the restaurant without eating any thing at all. Very very bad experience I have soo far.

This place has been here for ages and is consistently tasty. A bit too expensive for takeaway on a budget, but worth the price for the quantity if you can afford. The vegetarian curry and coconut rice is a must have, and the spicy tofu is delicious. Definitely more of a blended cuisine than totally authentic Malaysian, but still a local legend and among the best on the street for quality take away.

Jazz Ria is our take-away standard and the food is consistently amazing and they are even able to cater for gluten free as well. My husband is a native Singaporean and swears by this place. We highly recommend it
Su Sara
Service was good, however we found it over priced and the food portions are smaller than the standard aussie meal. Not that tasty too. We ordered nasi lemak chicken and mix vege. Hardly any anchovies or sambal in the nasi lemak and the mix vege was just pax choy, snow peas and mushrooms, no taste at all. Not likely to go there again.

Nice Malaysian restaurant in Balwyn. Has a range of asian dishes to select from although not all are typically Malaysian. All the dishes we had were good, my favourite was probably the Pandan roti with icecream.

Really good Malaysian food at a really good price!! There are so many dishes available and the flavours are all really spot on! I’d recommend the beef Horfun- the noodles were really nice but the beef was slightly chewy.

The satay chicken was cooked perfectly and the satay sauce was so yum!!

Didn’t like the roti with beef curry as much because it was slightly oily but would defs go back to try some other things

Jazz Ria has been a goto Laksa fix for a while now.
I also recommend the Chilli Beef, Kompau Chicken and their curries.
They also have a cheap lunch menu.
VegoLover
Small Malaysian restaurant with one vego option - fried mee hoon (similar to Singapore noodles).
It was good not too oily but didn’t have much ingredients.
Service was fast, served within 10mins of ordering.
It was very filling for $11.50.
A consistent winner.
Very hospitable owner who cant do enough for you, solid staff and most importantly great tasting food.
You only have to see how busy it is to know that it is a local gem!

Service was ok but the food was very average. I am Malaysian and the 3 dishes we had was very average. Lousy curry laksa. Disappointed the chef should taste the food before sending it out.
AaronN
Food here was great - best Malaysian fare we've had in awhile. The lakes was a real highlight, real creamy and not overly spicy like many other places, and the lobak and satay chicken were similarly great.

I have been using Jazz Ria for years. They are reliable, responsive and very good quality. Beautiful Kantan Duck, Assam Prawns, String Bean Calamari, Beef Noodles for the kids. When we want something a cut above the average takeaway, we order from Jazz Ria.
HB_HB
Waste time of time on taste and service , small quantities , and rude and defensive staff , shame on you guys just rude, try the next door Chinese restaurant
Acli9
Super good laksa, vegetarian noodles and great delivery service! Good price and great quality food would recommend highly!! Will order again
The food was not good and the portions were small with the prices being quite high . I came here for the zomato rating but left hungry, confused and disappointed
Samantha Langley
The food here is exceptional. We have been many times and are never dissapointed with the flavour and quality.
The Service is good, they are very friendly and attentive.
The restaurant is always lively and comfortable.
Favourite Dish - Roti with curry lamb, a delicious bowl of rendang style curry with a big pile of crisp roti bread! Special mention also to the laksa and the salt & pepper squid.

My favourite Malaysian restaurant, been here multiple times and I have to say that everything tastes great here!! Not sure if I can choose a favourite dish... took my parents here and they loved it too, and my mum who has a MSG sensitive tummy was 100% fine eating here so it's good to know they don't rely on msg to create their magnificent flavours. The satay skewers are definitely yum to start the night off with, we always fight over the sauce! Beef rendang is amazing here - I'm a pescatarian so didn't eat the meat but tried the sauce and it almost made me want to break my pescatarianism to gorge on the whole dish! Wish they had a mock meat version... The prawn har mee, the laksa, the sambal beans are all super tasty too. Service is generally good and it's got a really cute ambience with jazz background music.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere at Jazz Ria. The rendand curry is delicious, and so is the duck special. Worth every penny, and a great place to take a date for a fun but delicious dinner.

Extremely attentive and courteous staff. Has a jazz theme to this Asian restaurant as the name suggests which is a unique combination. In terms of food I especially enjoy the curries. Price a tiny bit on the high side but worth it once you taste the food. Byo wine option available.
ToMmy VeNantius T
The Menu price on Zomato is outdated and the new price list is at least 20-30% higher. I am expecting something authentic Msian but overall the food is average and more suitable for local Australian tastebuds.

Have come here for years with the family as it's a nice restaurant and they have good food. However last year I visited with my friend and while the other food was ok this dish we ordered was nothing like it was described. Just soy sauce noodles with a pinch of vegetables over some thick jelly sauce. Immediately we called over staff and asked them to take it away as we're not eating it. Then it was all fine until the bill came and we were surprised to see it in the bill. We tried to speak to the staff as we didn't touch that plate and the dish was definitely not as described and all they were saying was sorry you need to pay you need to pay. I asked to speak to the manager and eventually the staff member went up the stairs and disappeared. A minute later the same staff member came back and just told us sorry the manager said we have to pay. It was paid in the end however your customer service is horrible and this could have been handled better.
Sarah Smithe
The owner is incredibly rude and unreasonable. The food lacks flavour, the meals consist of mostly rice or noodles, rather than vegetables and/or meat. The young waitress' seem fearful of the owner, which I find a little disconcerting to say the least.
Mike O'Brien
Have been here 3 times in the past month after a friend recommended it. Wonderful each time! It's so good it fills up quickly but there are seats upstairs and outside. I don't know Malaysian food well but these dishes have a great balance of sweet and spicey. Each dish is generous and quick and the service is friendly.
Miss Sage Sugar
The ‘Special Jazz Rice – diced prawns, calamari, peas, carrots, corn, bean shoots, and pineapple, wok fried ($14.90)’ was wonderful! The seafood, rice and vegetables were flavoursome, whilst the crunch from the iceberg lettuce and the fried shallots added texture.
Matt Templin
The service and atmosphere was great, however if you seek exciting laksas, there are better options out there. The Laksa I had lacked depth of flavour and was underwhelming. We requested sambal for extra flavour which was nice.
If you are a laksa fanatic this probably isn't the right place for you, however the rest of the food is good.
Samuel
Jazz Ria was a warm, family-friendly environment with great staff and nice food. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. You should also go there because it is like the only Malaysian Restaurant in Balwyn.
Mike McDowell
This gem is now our favourite local restaurant. Consistently fantastic food, service and all with a smile. Byo wine and beer makes it a much cheaper night out and another reason this place is just amazing. Order the red duck curry (our favourite) for the best duck curry I have ever had. Thanks guys.

So their prices on zomato clearly haven't been updated since the 90s, along with the carpet on the floors and the paint job inside the restaurant. I know it's been around forever because I used to see it as I drove past decades ago.

We came here on a Saturday and was seated upstairs. Either side of the room had huge mirrors. I know it's meant to make a small room look bigger but it just make it feel weird and encroaching.

Our food varied - hokkien noodles were good; beef rendang was below average as the meat was tough and had lots of fat; spicy tofu was a nice starter but not spicy at all. I'm pretty weak when it comes to spicy food and if I could hoover this without stopping for a drink, it clearly didn't have enough kick.

The staff were lovely and the restaurant seems popular. I guess it wasn't my thing. Online it says the curries are around $14, but the pricing in the restaurant is $21. I came with the idea it was going to be a bargain Malaysian meal but left feeling like my $60 dinner could have been money better spent elsewhere.

After reading so many positive reviews we went there for lunch. Not busy on a Monday, only us and another 2 tables. Soft jazz music playing in the background, makes you feel like you were having Malaysian food in New Orleans in the 19th century.

Lunch specials were very good value. There were a variety of dishes to choose for $9.90 or $10.90. For extra $3, you can have an entree. We had kantan chicken with rice, seafood curry laksa, and 2 curry puffs. The curry puff was ok, a bit greasy. Laksa was good and not too spicy. It had fishcake, prawns, calamaris, tofu puffs, bean shoots. It was creamy but not oily. Kantan chicken was fried chicken pieces in a sweet hot sauce, with ginger flower flavour. The flavour was nice, would've been better if the onions were not so raw. Overall, it was good value for money.
Choc Pudding
My husband was raving about this place so I had high expectation and got disappointed. We had some kway teow and sambal ayam. The kway teow was good and tasty. Sambal ayam was not as tasty or hot as I expected, it was yellow in colour which reminds me of some sort of chicken curry. They had okra in it which I tried and didnt like. Other than that, pretty much there were no vegetables in that dish other than a LOT of onions, which was disappointing because they can surely put a lot of veggies in that kind of dish. And the portion was small for the price. There was a big difference of take away and dine in price, which is unusual. I don't know if I will come back there. Probably just for take away.

UPDATE 29/05/2017

Getting very ordinary now ..... Char Kwe Tiaw was well freshly made, lots of bean sprouts but lacking in taste.

PREVIOUS
One of the better place to have Malaysian food in Balwyn ....

Yes, Hawker style for lunch and more proper main dish sharing for dinner, can't go wrong.

This offshoot of those "ria" and "jazz' Malaysian group of restaurant has stood the test of time.

Enjoy.
Aidan
Nice Malaysian place with a wide menu of some authentic Malaysian food and a few more standard Chinese dishes. Great service and reasonable lunch prices, especially for the area. Bit of a hidden gem, pretty unassuming as a Malaysian restaurant considering the Jazz motif and background music. Would return.
Hello. Imnikki
A friend who lives nearby requested for simple and fuss-free food for her kids and promptly directed us to Jazz Ria to order takeaway before dropping by at her place. There were 2 tables being occupied but we were told that there will be a 25-30 minutes wait. The food was ready in around 15ish minutes so that was a bonus. It was just a minute drive to my friend's place but by the time we were were ready to eat (approximately 10 minutes from when the food left the restaurant) we noticed that the duck was already coated with oil. It initially did look a bit unappetising but once you drenched it in curry, it solved the problem. The combination hor fun had good wok hei, and the kids enjoyed the gravy very much. The Assam Chicken was somewhat lacking in flavour, a bit more spiciness and sourness would have made it better. Overall not a bad meal but not a great meal either.

Consistency in its food quality and friendly service. Highly favored by locals. Wouldn't say it's a cheap eat out though ... But occasionally a good treat!
Stu
Ordered takeaway from here. The menu had a good selection and ended going with the beef and noodles dish and some curry puffs. Everything tasted good and would definitely go back.
Emily
Consistent Malaysian restaurant - staff are friendly and ambience is nice. Their lunch specials are great value and their curry puffs are delicious. Favourite mains are Hokkien Mee, Singapore Mee and Mee Goreng.
Geoff Thuring
Great food experience ... Simple and to the point... Beautiful tastes... Curry was just right , tender, and lasting flavor .................

My friends and i have been coming here regularly for about 5 years. The staff and owner are always very friendly and accomodating when we come in often without a booking. We really like the food here and theres something here for everyone. The customer service here is great and the food also.

Went for dinner with friends on Tuesday evening. Parking nearby was surprisingly easy - perhaps due to school holidays. The restaurant was modestly busy at 7.00 pm. It has a pleasant decor and friendly atmosphere. The staff were very prompt to provide service and were friendly and helpful. The menu offers a wide range of dishes other than desserts. The cuisine is predominantly South East Asian. We shared 4 dishes - Fried Kway Teow, Red Curry Duck, Sambal Fish and Belachan Spinach. All were good quality and very tasty. We considered finishing with a dessert but the choice is very limited and uninteresting. Total cost for 4 was $90. Other than dessert, this is a good value restaurant for good quality Asian food.

Really enjoyed our take-away tonight. Had the beef rendang curry and minced pork with eggplant, which were both equally delicious. I have a feeling this place may become a regular for us.
AK TI
Went there for dinner, I ordered beef curry with roti and my gf ordered curry laksa. The taste overall was above average. I like the atmosphere of the restaurant more than the food. Services were just ok.

Like sweet music to my mouth. I'm no fan of jazz music -- too much improvisational noodling around for my tastes; gimme rock 'n roll with a fast pounding beat instead -- but I like Ria. Even though the first item I had there left a sour taste in my mouth. Hot and sour, to be specific. Jazz Ria's version is more spicy hot than tamarindy sour, but it covers both bases adequately. This is a busy bowlful with the all the ingredients in it -- silky tofu, mushrooms and even a few bits of egg. The latter seems to be a requirement in most Malaysian/Indonesian dishes -- throw hard-boiled egg in. The best part of the soup was the lashing of chicken chunks throughout it. They had a pronounced flavour -- I knew I was eating some CHOOK, by gosh. It was better than a lot of insipid versions of this soup that I’ve had.

The main on my lunch special -- two items for $12, good deal! -- was Kantan chicken. This is boneless breaded and fried pieces in a wonderful sweet sauce. It had a, slight hit of exotic taste due to the ginger in it, and just the faintest amount of heat. Malaysians do some excellent sweet chook preparations -- this was almost as good as the mango chicken appy I had at Penang Road in South Melbourne. I pass through Balwyn often, so I'm keen to return here and see how they go with beef, like rendang.

Ahmazing lamb curry!!. Was never really fond of any types of curry but decided to try something new today and the lamb curry was ahhhhmazing!! Had all the right flavours and was deliciously spicy (even though I don't handle spicy foods too well) this dish just made me want more. The staff were very tentative and pleasant. Highly recommend to give this place a try!!
Ange
Delicious!. I absolutely love Jazz Ria for takeaway and dine-in. Their laksa is delicious and my husband loves the beef rending, roti bread and satay sauce. I recommend Jazz Ria withour reservation; it has great size servings, it is great value for money and has a lovely atmosphere!

The fried kway teow is an authentic take, with thin flat rice noodles wok fried til charred and accompanied by sliced fish cakes, prawns, fried egg and bean shoots.
Honestly
Best in Balwyn. You get what you pay for - good food. The value is enormous compared to others in Balwyn who charge an arm and a leg for a meal.
Ash__walsh
That good!. Jazria is a local favourite and is always delicious! The butter chicken and the spinach THAT GOOD!

Review for Jazz Ria. Had good expectations for this place due to the high rating on urban spoon. Very disappointed
Thought the roti was straight out of a packet, and if not was very stodgy.
The hot gado gado salad was so weird, maybe too westernized or something. Way too much satay sauce, was smothered over the whole plate.
We had one of the duck dishes, too many mixed flavours, way too complicated, which drowned out the authentic herbs and flavours. Perhaps the menu has been adjusted to the clientele which seemed to be 90% westerners.
Sadly...will not go back.

The staff were lovely
Bobby Rose
Fantastic. Thanks for your amazing food and service last night. Very attentive staff and I'd say the best food in Balwyn.

We had the Chicken Satay and Prawn Toast to start, the Prawn Toast was beyond amazing.

We had Beef Rendang and Mee Goreng for mains with roti bread on the side. The Beef Rendang was to die for!

Will be back for our weekly date nights :)
Lilli Mcmahon
Good ambiance Mee Goreng.... Good ambiance

Mee Goreng sauce was too strong

Beef rendang was amazing

Overall rating of 8 out of 10

Great place. 4 of us had dinner last Friday night and it was a great experience. We had the kantan duck, black pepper butter chicken, assam fish and a stir fry spinach and they were all very good. Dessert (sago pudding in palm sugar and coconut cream sauce) was a bit ordinary though. The food was so good however, that it was easy to not let the dessert affect the experience. The service was also very friendly. Would I come again? I've already made a reservation for 6 next Friday :-)

One of my closest friends and I had dinner at Jazz Ria last night. The service was exceptional and the staff were very attentive. I read reviews about how incredible the duck dishes were so I tried one for my main, it didn't disappoint. It was served in a fragrant, light sauce and the meat was crispy and tender. My friend ordered the Tofu Ria and it was full of flavour. It was my first time trying Malaysian food and was a cool fusion of Thai and even had some Chinese-style similarities too. A great place to go if you want a good hit of Asian flavours with a broader choice of dishes. Only downside was the restaurant was very loud but that sort of thing can't be helped.
Allie
Regularly drive from Brunswick to Balwyn, just so I can have a laksa at Jazz Ria... The first laksa I ever had was from Jazz Ria, and it changed my life - that was when I was in my early teens. To this day, I still make my husband make the trek to Balwyn, from our place in Brunswick, solely to go to Jazz Ria. There is literally no other reason for us to ever go to Kew/Balwyn, where I grew up.

The man that I assume owns the place is lovely, extremely friendly (and seems to never age) and the food is always wonderful. It always seems to be really busy, but there's a room upstairs - so don't be afraid if it looks like there's no room! It is pretty kid friendly, but can be a bit loud, and because the downstairs area is so small, you can't really get away from a loud group of diners. Which there always seems to be! It doesn't stop us going back again and again, though.

I've never had a dodgy dish, though I never deviate from the laksa. My husband gets some squid dish which is also awesome; I think it's mentioned on the menu as a 'local favourite' or something, and he gets it every time. If you're in the area, don't go past it. And it's worth the trek, if you wouldn't otherwise be in the area!

Great food and service, highly recommend.. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals here.
Food was great, first time having Malaysian food and thought it was fabulous!
We had the green curry - which we recommend if you like a bit of spice.
The Mee Goreng noodles were great also.

Medium priced, but generous serving sizes.

Thanks Jazz Ria

Was searching for some good malay food and came across this from alot of good reviews, but my point of view is that if the most basic meal doesnt taste good, what to expect?
we ordered the chefs special the chicken with ginger flower sauce.. maybe it would have tasted ok without the sauce, their special sauce was way too over powering.

i will not go again

Surprisingly good. My first impression on passing by was 'Westernised' food, but having brought my Malaysian parents (and been born and bred in M'sia), my parents and I was of the same opinion - pretty damn good. It's upmarket M'sian, and it is catered to the Western crowd, but flavours are authentic and great. Will be back!
Shaba
Excellent Malaysian Food. The food was great, we had the Assam Fish and the Tom Yum Soup it was full of flavour.Dishes are very well priced and the portions are quite big. The staff were very friendly and courteous. We will surely return to the restaurant to try out some of their other dishes.

This is a wonderful authentic Malaysian restaurant. I was introduced to Jazz Ria 10 years ago by my Malaysian friends who are regulars and it's been one if our favorites ever since. My husband loves the rending, I love s&p squid, Singapore noodles, chicken satays and the belachan spinach is delicious. Oh the yellow prawn curry is excellent as is Chicken Ayam. The staff are lovely and the owner Patrick goes out of his way to get to know you - which is how I know his name.
Pamela Nasiakos
Went for dinner a couple of Fridays ago. The food was lovely (prawn curry, chilli pepper squid and a spinach dish). But it all came out so fast..within about 5 min of ordering! Next time will ask them to stagger the servings.
John.lewis
Safe choice. Whenever we don't know where to go - we end up at Jazz Ria. The food is consistently good, the prices are fair and the staff are great.! I recommend it....but.... there's a certain blandness and a lack of adventure - nonetheless we like it!
Melissa Meehan
Been here now a few times and the food is always consistently excellent. A good place to start is their delicious curry puffs. Light, fluffy and tasty. All the mains I've tasted make my taste buds dance. Value for money. Jazz Ria is a must visit in the eastern suburbs. It's always nice to see a friendly face, and Patrick the owner is just that.
Brando The Pig
Passed the critical test of mum liking the food, that is seriously an achievement in itself! I concur, adding that it is good food, but managing your expectations by saying it isn't excellent. Had a few options on Saturday night, and this was the busiest of the shortlist
Bradnkate
Friendly and tasty. We had a great night at jazz ria, the food was wonderful- i had the duck and it was slightly spicy and full of flavour. Other's had honey prawns and lemon chicken....really nice. The staff were friendly and attentive, could not fault the restaurant...one of the best in Balwyn
JB
Had a great meal with friends last night. Excellent food at reasonable prices. Service is friendly especially Patrick planning my next visit soon
AnnieG
Dissapointed. It is such a shame that Balwyn does not have authentic Malaysian food. I ordered the calamari sambal and was very disappointed. Tough calamari and the sauce was terrible. Will not go back
Harneet Arora
The food was extremely sweet..not authentic malaysian food...

Great service, amazing food - the Fried Rock Ling was perfect & the Chilli Beef was delicious. A great night out!
Samuel Cox
Service excellent, food very good. Been to Jazz Ria twice now and impressed both times, food was tasty and gluten free options marked on menu
The Food Guru
Jazzlaysian delight!. This well lit, wonderfully welcoming restaurant was the perfect setting for a quiet and peaceful evening not too far from home. Having had Nasi Lemak in Malaysia I thought I may be disappointed with the dish, however, it was of decent size and full of flavour and spice. For dessert, we ordered the sago pudding which was served cold. Having been accustomed to eating it hot, it wasn't as enjoyable as i had hoped. Overall, i would definitely return for a quick and easy bite.
P-one23
Amazing food, quick and friendly service will come back anyday

So So. Have been living in Malaysia for more than 10 years, Malaysian food is pretty well known to me. The food in Jazz Ria is hardly calls typical Malaysian Cuisine. The food may have the Malaysian's name but not the flavour, whereby the serve is relatively small as well. There are a lot better Malaysian Cuisine around Melbourne but it is pity not in Balwyn.
Raichu_3001
Fake Malaysian Restaurant. Bloody disgusting food, totally not malaysian. Used malaysian ingredients, malaysian names, but nothing of this restaurant is malaysian. Employees are chinese, cooks are chinese, owners are chinese. None Malaysians. Fake service. Dirty cutlery. Not going back. The food + service are overrated
E-pottii
Doesn't get much better than this. Consistent quality and service, great value.
The Reviewer
Great Service. Lovely food and great service. A touch on the expensive side for the type of food but I guess you don't mind paying if you know the quality is great! Nice little restaurant tucked away on the main street.
Tex Bates
Delicious. My first visit there tonight and will definitely be going back again. I had Nasi Goreng which was good but my friend ordered a vegetable curry (sorry don't know the name) that was absolutely delicious it had a slightly aniseed flavour but was more than just Thai basil. It was one of those "oh my god" this is delicious dishes that you only come across once in a while. Nice atmosphere and very reasonably priced.
Anth From Melbourne
Great service with no corkage charge. Perhaps not all dishes are super authentic Malaysian, but everything we had was really tasty and well presented. Great roti and amazing satay sauce. Definitely going back. Close to the Palace cinema too.

I will never NOT go back! :). Since I was a child, my grandparents have hosted our family get-togethers at Jazz Ria. It has always been one of my favourite places to eat. Not only because of my obvious nostalgic connection, but the food has always been amazing! When I go to other Malaysian restaurants, I like to only order the Nazi Goreng.. This is purely to see whether or not it compares to Jazz Ria... It never does.
Not only this, but the staff are some of the friendliest people I have ever met. Not only do they go out of their way to prepare your meal a certain way, they will also race in front of you as you're leaving to hold the door open.
It would be a big mistake to pass up a night at Jazz Ria!
P.S. As the name of the restaurant suggests, they always play great Jazz.
Shana
Our favorite local dinner spot. The food is just great! Try the butter chicken, best I have tasted.
Cozo
Very disappointing. We were very disappointed with the food here. The food was Chinese not Malaysian. Malaysians do not use cornflour to thicken their food. The service was extremely slow. We had to ask for our entree dishes to be removed an hour after they were served. We were upstairs so maybe the incompetent waiter forgot about us!
Famishedfoody
Pleasantly surprised. After an early movie three of us popped in to Jazz Ria a place I had driven past countless times but never tried. It was really very good. We ordered a beef curry with roti, pork with tofu, a chilli spinach dish all delicious. We also had beef with black beans which lacked any depth of flavour, but it's Malaysian not Chinese and a good rule of thumb is stick to ordering what the restaurant is known for. Staff were prompt, friendly and unobtrusive. Funnily enough for years I thought it was some type of jazz club with food on the side, possibly because of the large trumpet on the window advertising. Definitely worth a number of return visits!
Katie R
I loved dining at jazz ria last night! Had beautiful crab prawn toasts with whole prawns and a malaysian lamb curry with a generous serve of roti for only $12.90. Will definitely be going back!
Morgan Green
I eat lunch at jazz Ria at least once a week. The Nasi lemak is an interesting cross section of flavours, I especially enjoy the lamb curry, very tender and tasty!
Sloth
Excellent. Been here many times & will continue to come back. Food is excellent always.

Mr Malaysian. Great food and excellent service always .
A regular guest of the Restruant

Eat here regularly and both the food and service are always great! Gluten free options are marked on the menu which makes ordering easy!
Archie Kovic
Delightful meal with reasonable price. One of the best asian food i have tasted since i moved down from Wagga Wagga.
Mrs AOM
Just had take away from Jazz Ria. Char Kway Teow & chicken curry were delicious (big bits of chicken though meant not everyone got a piece). Forget about the garlic prawns & beef & veges-both bland
Urbanspoon Reviewer
Bland, bland, bland... horrible food and nothing like real Malaysian food. Don't waste your time or money.

Such quick and friendly service! Try the chicken lobak - yuuuuum!
