I come to Western Pho for lunch at least twice a week. The staff, in particular, Tram and Henry make my visit special every time. They have fantastic customer service. They are so friendly and are always smiling. The place just wouldn’t be the same without them. I love the chicken and beef pho. The lunch specials are a great option too. I would highly recommend Western Pho.
Thanks western pho tonight , da cho dai gia dinh chung toi mot buoi toi that tuyet voi , mon an thi wa ngon , all staff rat Thân thien va nhiet tinh , cam on rat nhieu a
Amazing food. True to its authentic vietnamese cuisine. Highly recommend
I’ve been coming to Western Pho (previously Kim Mai Pho) for 8+ years. My favourite Vietnamese restaurant in the West! Every dish I’ve ever ordered has never disappointed. Their pho and rice paper rolls are is out of this world but their best dish in my opinion is their banana fritter!
Just like a phoenix, Western Pho Restaurant is back from the ashes. I missed this restaurant so am glad that it has re-opened. You will find great Vietnamese food here at reasonable prices. All the very best Phil and Ha.
Not a bad place in this area, in fact it's probably one of the better ones. We have been here a few times and we always left satisfied. On the last visit we had crispy noodle with chicken which was tasty and reasonably crispy. We also had tomato rice with diced beef which was good but there wasn't any salt pepper lemon seasoning on the side! This is unusual. I'd love it to come with the seasonings.
Best pho I have had in a long time. Whenever we go here, I always get this and it never disappoints. Other dishes worth trying is the entree satay chicken skewers, sizzling beef and their spring rolls are pretty tasty. Yummo!
Came here for dinner with my husband and ordered a serve of pork spring rolls, pork rice paper rolls, chicken pho, apple juice and a glass of wine all for just $35!
Not only is this place very affordable but every single part of this meal was delicious and generous!
We could not fault the food, they even offer free vietnamese tea and some viet lollies with your bill.
Will definately be eating here again and again!
First time I've ever had pho. Good service, decent food- came out nice and hot, and staff were quite helpful with food selections. Meat was cooked well and the broth was very nice in the beef soup. Moderately busy on a Saturday night. Would come again.
Having lived in Footscray for a decade, I had a large hole looming for good Vietnamese food. This place was originally around the corner, and although the food was decent it didn't have the hot fresh vibe I expect with Viet food (not that I care about decor, the place just seemed a bit sleepy). Once they moved though - wow!!!! Their turnover has obviously gotten huge due to prime location and the place is always bustling. I have been here soooo many times and have NEVER been disappointed with my meal.
My highlights
- vegetable pho ... it's amazing how many places refuse to do this but I love a veg fix with my pho. Cheap, fresh and sooo good.
- salt and pepper anything (I've tried them all)
- prawn spring rolls. So good !
You can't go wrong though, it's all good and although I rarely review I feel compelled to show some love for my fave local for stepping it up for Deer Park.
I am a regular of this place. I visit for the yummy pho a few times a week. I absolutely love the beef pho with sliced chicken, rare beef, beef balls, tendon, beef brisket and rice noodles. So so good! Especially after a big workout. I tend to take away my order as it can get rather loud.
If you want some local pho! This is the place to go. Clean and not packed! Very easy to access. Love the staff and the cosy little atmosphere. Love the pho here too.
Western Pho is a go-to Vietnamese restaurant for a quick meal. For $11.50 the Diced Beef with Tomato Rice is exceptionally delicious. The marinated diced beef has a very unique umami taste compared to other restaurants. The meal also came with a yolky sunny-side up egg. Presentation on the other hand, can be improved as meals sometimes look a little sloppy. Service is extremely friendly each time and meals generally come out within 10 minutes from ordering. However they seem to run out of avocado smoothies on certain visits. Which is disappointing but understandable, as they only have two smoothies options on the menu (re: avocado and custard apple). A customer next to us had the Banana Fritter which looked delicious. We definitely recommend Western Pho for a cheap and quick Vietnamese bite.
Don't usually come into Deer Park but met up with my parents here.
Nice little place tucked in to the Deer Park shops. Service is quick and fast. They have a range of dishes and entrées as well as some very tasty pho. They were quite busy too.
We had beef pho, sesame prawn toast, prawn spring rolls, whole flounder with salt and pepper, fried calamari with salt and pepper. All dishes were tasty. The flounder was huge! The beef pho came with beanshoots, chilli, basil, and lemon.
We had an ice blend bubble tea - watermelon flavour as well as a Vietnamese ice coffee. The watermelon was a bit weird, would not order again. The coffee was very sweet but was enjoyed.
Love the food, fresh and top quality. The service staff are also friendly and attentive. Been here a few times already and everything has been consistently great and reasonably priced, highly recommended.
Was recommended this restaurant by a friend of ours, it didn't disappoint. We had Mongolian beef and sweet chilli chicken which we added cashews to. We also had combination fried rice. The Mongolian beef was easily the best Mongolian beef I've ever had, meat was tender and the sauce was great. The chicken was also great too. The rice was sadly dry and hard like it wasn't fresh, but the flavours were still nice. We will definitely be back.
I'm not sure why it's called Western Pho? It's like normal Vietnamese Pho. You can tell quality pho by the chicken. The chicken in this pho is pretty good. A little to much broth but a good pho.
Not just for soup.
Once upon a time you always had to go to St Albans to get decent pho but since Western Pho has opened (and now has a greater profile since moving to the main road), that is no longer the case. Parking is very easy, with a car park behind the shops if the front is full and a door that leads from the rear car park into the restaurant.
The food is usually very good and the serving sizes are very generous compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in the local area, especially St Albans. The fried rice noodle dishes ('Hu Tieu') are all winners for me as they have the authentic "wok taste". Of the soups I have tried, all were again very generous with their ingredients, loaded with meat pieces and plenty of noodles. I am not sure the noodles themselves are as good as I have had elsewhere though, they seem a bit narrower and thicker than usual but this is probably just a personal preference.
Service is usually prompt and staff very friendly and helpful. Western Pho can get very busy though, especially on Friday nights and weekends. With this crowded atmosphere comes noise so just remember it is a place to eat cheaply, not a place for a quiet, romantic dinner for two.
The prices are cheap, the service is speedy and the food is tasty. We will continue to go back to Western Pho.
Western Pho is my go-to whenever I'm craving Vietnamese food, but can't be bothered driving too far from home. The rice paper rolls are delish, and their pho is tasty and satisfying. It's not the best pho I've had, as the broth isn't as flavoursome as some other places, but it does comes close. A must try if you're in the area & looking for a yummy, affordable meal.
Trying out Western Pho has been on our to-do list for a little while and we finally made it for lunch today.
We ordered beef pho, broken rice, salt and pepper chicken ribs as well as a couple of entrees. Delicious! Everything was so tasty; service was prompt and friendly, even though we went at peak lunch hour and the place was packed. The owner was also so lovely and happy to char.
Hubby and I agree this is definitely our new favourite place for viet/chinese. We recommended it to a friend who went tonight for dinner and loved it also. Keep up the great work!
Good cheap Chinese/Vietnamese.
The food at Western Pho is worth every cent, I recommend the Vermicelli with Grilled Pork and Spring Rolls at only $11 for a big bowl.
The only negative thing about this restaurant is the staff, as well as other reviews on this website which I agree upon; some of the staff need to learn how to smile.
Highly recommended.
Great food , value for money. Tamarind prawns are delicious, their rice vermicelli with beef or spring rolls is also yum . Good pho soup as well.
Reliable and affordable. Only downside is the lack of a Three Colour Drink option. Although their Vietnamese Iced Milk Coffees are quite good. Their pho comes in a super generous size and great flavour. There are also another bajillion menu options if pho is not your thing.
Cute little restaurant great for a quick and satisfying meal. Prices are super affordable, menu is varied and food is good quality. Except they don't serve Three Colour Drinks...
I attended here on suggestion from a friend. A little place and looks a bit daunting on the outside. Going inside the staff a very loverly and the food is fresh and tasty. Very reasonably priced, quite impressed. Portion sizing is sensational, if you want yummy food and a great price head here. Will be back, thumbs up!!!
Un-pho-gettable. Hidden little gem
Friendly, enthusiastic staff. We come here on a regular basis and always order the same dishes. Pork spring rolls and rare beef soup are delicious. Only negative, no eftpos.
Recent (and on-going) renovations have greatly improved this little gem. The food is very good, cheap, and delivered quickly. The friendliness of the staff is the icing on the cake. Great value!
We dine here almost every Thursday for lunch and we have not been disappointed yet. I usually order the rare beef with beef ball pho or egg noodle soup with pork and wonton, also have tried the rice vermicelli with pork and spring rolls, all are quite delicious. Hidden gem in Deer Park.
Delicious food, very friendly staff, complementary tea, great value for money & spotlessly clean restaurant. Support this small family business & you won't regret it. We will definitely be returning for celebrations and a great quiet meal out. Well worth a visit.
Great service and amazing food. Always fresh and great variety. Great value for money. Hope these guys keep up the great quality service and food and get the recognition they deserve!
What a pleasant surprise! At first glance, this appears to be a take away counter, tucked away behind the main drag. The food was traditional and magnificently prepared. The flavor combinations were perfectly balanced, and the portion sizes were great and excellent value. The Vietnamese coffee is well done, and the tea is a special blend that the owner makes, refreshing and full bodied, not bitter as some are.
The only negative is the small eat-in area, and the decor. Although this proves yet again that good food doesnt need a luxurious dining room.
I couldn't recommend this place more. Give it a try!
Excellent little restaurant! Great food at a very reasonable price. Nice people running the place always are very helpful and up for a chat.
Beautiful food! The tradit.... Beautiful food!
The traditional Vietnamese beef noodle soup is delicious.
Very clean
Quick service
Friendly and willing staff
Home delivery too!
Good classic pho and coffee, and nice friendly staff, very laid back.
The music is traditional too
Wow this place is a real gem! Great food and fantastic service. Prices are cheap with most meals under $12great small serves of soup at $4. No more trips to Footscray . How lucky is Deer park !
What a great little gem of a restaurant on west location Deer Park . They have the best raw beef pho in Melbourne ,toilet available and clean I can't believe we can get this quality of Vietnamese and Chinese food in our aerea.100 % recommends variety on the Menu from 01 to 161 offer .
We order wonton & pork egg &rice noodles soup,custard apple milkshake,avocado,grilled chicken on steamed rice,broken rice..all yummi❤❤❤❤
I love their noodle soups. I don’t eat beef which makes it tricky to find noodle soups with tasty broths. This place serves a very good selection of chicken based broths for noodle soups. Their sizzling plate of garlic prawns is also very nice. Dishes are featured with lots of fresh veggies which is one of my favourite things about this place. Quantities are not stingy, ingredients are fresh and the place offers a very wide menu. If you are looking for an awesome soupy fix for lunch or dinner, definitely try this place.
What a great little gem of a restaurant. They have the best raw beef pho in Melbourne. I can't believe we can get this quality of Vietnamese food in our own backyard.
Very tasty and delicious food the rice were amazing spring rolls were decent they missed a few things in our order otherwise very tasty food and nice restaurant!
What a great surprise find right here in deer Park. Menu huge. Lovely tastes.
