A hidden gem in Devonport. Definitely a favourite!

Meat plater was nice, curries were good. The kolkata fish curry didnt taste like kolkata curry. The center half of gulab jamun was so hard that we had to use fork and knife to cut them. Otherwise it was ok.

Really delicious food and will definitely be going back. Friendly and helpful staff.

hi, i am leaving this comment on behalf of the Taj Mahal staff who tonight were verbally abused by a group of people who came for a dine in. on arrival many adults did not have masks, as a restaurant, all staff and customers are required to wear a mask at all times other than eating or drinking. a few left to retrieve a mask but failed to pull it over their mouth/nose when they returned, therefore, the mask had no effect. after multiple polite requests for them to pull their masks over their mouth and nose, all we got was a laugh in the face. as a 16 year old, who has been Taj Mahal’s waitress for almost three years now, i have never been faced with such rudeness. during my final request for them to pull their masks up i pushed that if they did not comply i would have to ask them to leave. to which they got up, stood right in front of me and demanded i apologise, as they are vaccinated. i myself am double vaccinated and will have my booster. i also wear a mask every time i go into a public building. not because i am a “sheep”, but because it is the law. i explained that we (the staff) did not make the laws, we just apply them. to which they repeatedly yelled that they did not care. i asked them multiple times to leave, as i myself was getting quite upset. in result of tonight’s incident they have taken it upon themselves to leave nasty comments about myself on the businesses reviews. we the staff do not believe our actions and/or requests regarding the mask mandate we’re unjust, we are just trying to do our job. to our other customers who witnessed this outburst, my most sincerest apologies, we hope that this incident will not repeat itself. thank you 🤍
