Review Mona's Bakehouse - Dingley Village

This was their ‘streak’/small pieces of fat and onion (large chunks just stuck in the pie) pie!

Upmarket hot bread shop in the heart of Dingley Village shopping precinct. Owner is Vietnamese and has good skills in French breads and pastries. Has reinvented itself as a cafe / coffee shop to compliment his excellent food. Takeaway or sit down meals /coffee. No toilets on premises but the public ones are 25m away next to Post Office. Indoor and outdoor seating with awnings and heaters. A bit pricey but very popular with locals and factory workers.

Very disappointed with Boston Bun purchased today it was under baked and doughy moist inside. I have been a customer of Mona's for most of my 30 years in Dingley but can't say I will be going back.

Top class service from friendly staff. Great coffee and beautiful cakes and goodies. Won't go anywhere else.

A reasonably busy traditional bakery in Dingley village shops serving pies and sausage rolls and a reasonable selection of cakes and slices including the cream filled pink lamingtons, donuts and vanilla slices.

Pies were cold, I had the potato and mince and it might as well have been a servo pie, I threw over half in the bin. My partner had plain pie which he only ate half too. Potato, meat and pastry were all flavourless.

Shop with a lot of familar baked goods, a lot of the locals were coming in for sandwiches also. They had a variety of pies and I couldn't help but get a curry meat pie which was mild and packed with mince, similar to the consistency of a four'n twenty pie. The pastry itself was not flakey so no mess here.

I also got a slice of apple pie, two crumbly pastry sheets sandwiching a sweet apple mixture with raisins, enjoyable with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Nice local small shop.

Rude. Don’t bother. Service is horrible unless you’re a regular or part of the “dingley club”. Pies are cold & drinks are cold and flavourless.

As we were in the area and hadn't had breakfast since it was closer to lunch decided to try this bakehouse . Ordered 3 pies pepper cheese an bacon and a plain pie, nobody enjoy their pie found it left a funny taste and coating in the mouth. Pastry was to soft to hold the mince mixture so filling went every where when bitten in to not even the pastry was plesent to eat the filling was bland and I'm pretty sure the filling came pre made from a bulk supplier. There were a few people outside eating and having coffees( no room inside shop very small) so those customers must have had something better than us. Overall disappointed dnt eat pies very often as I have just reminded myself that the art of making a good pie is a dying trade.

Lovely bakery and pastries served here. Service is great too. I bought a nice big choc eclair and a fruit flan. Altogether costs $8.90. Tastes is good esp the custard cream in the flan. Will visit it again. Easy to find parking.

Lovely. Stopped here for a quick bite today and was treated to a very gorgeous and fresh tasting hedgehog slice and sausage roll. Great service. A nice little gem to stop at when you want something on the go.

There are few places to grab a bite during the day in Dingley Village (apart from a newly opened cafe), and consequently I have made a pilgrimage to this bakery-cafe a few times. The dining area is quite small inside, and tables are fairly cramped together and close to the counters, and the aluminium chairs and tables are practical if not stylish. There are some tables outside, which would be a better option when the weather is conducive. The fare is a fairly standard array of cakes, sandwiches, rolls, pies and pasties, though these are quite good. and the coffee is reasonable. The service is very friendly and efficient, so one can overlook any culinary or stylistic shortcomings.

So new school this year - total opposite direction to where I used to work, meaning I had the enviable task of scoping out a BUNCH of new places for when I forget my lunch, when I need a chai on the run, etc. Most have, disappointingly, turned out to be non-events, with the exception of two (so far). One is Mona's Bakehouse.
