Review Dingley Thai Restaurant - Dingley Village

Aussie Farang
Food was delicious, didn’t have to wait long before we were feasting on the well presented dishes that were put before us. Good atmosphere with some light music playing in the background. Highly recommended.

Excellent chicken green curry! Just enough spice, plenty of soft chicken and vegetables with loads of the beautify green curry “ sauce” Highly recommend, have not eaten take way from here for a couple of years, quality is still awesome

Exceptional Thai cuisine with friendly and helpful staff. It has been my favourite Thai restaurant for many years and never fails to deliver. A special recommendation for the vegan Pad Thai.

Not great, not even good last night. Mixed up our entree and charged us for the more expensive one they mistakenly gave us. Tom Yum soup was weak and the meat rubbery and flavourless. Chefs special Moo Yang, when it hit the table looked rubbery and tough. And it was. We didn’t finish our soup or main.

Worst delivery service. We ordered food through Uber and got a different order delivered. Tried to contact the restaurant. No answer. Can’t get the name of the driver as the Uber driver may have been from the restaurant itself. The wrong food delivered is still intact, we haven’t touched it as we don’t eat meat.

one of the worst take-away food ive ever had in melbourne. trust me, a dollar instant thai noodle will be much more satisfying than their dried garbage. save your money.

So sorry, we tried so hard to like the food but found it overwhelmingly sweet. Packed nicely, warm, can't fault that but sweet to the point where we were grimacing and we had to throw the food out. The only edible food was salt and pepper prawns and Satay chicken skewers. All the rest, Green curry, coconut rice, pad see ewe, pad thai, thai fried rice and massaman curry all in the bin. Some uears ago we did come for dinner and it was delicious food, now it is just too sweet, if it didnt have that sweetness, it would have been the best Thai Restaurant in the area🤔

Live locally in Keysborough. Best Thai I have had so tasty good size portions and very well priced. Dingley Thai is a hidden gem!!

This place has been around for years but is under new management now. I’m so glad we went and gave them a try as the serving sizes are perfect. The staff are friendly and competent. The atmosphere is lovely, I felt like I was in Thailand again! This place will definitely be my go to Thai restaurant from now on. Their pad Thai and Penang curry was delicious. Thank you for a lovely night.

Great food and friendly staff. They v never made me upset. My favourite is Green curry here but I will recommend you. Their lemon fish dish is super delicious.

I don't think I've ever seen experienced such terrible service at a restaurant in my life.

When we arrived just before 6, we were the only ones in the restaurant. There were 12 of us that had booked a reservation, so they knew a group was coming in.

We ordered and entrees come out fine. About 10 minutes after entree, one main meal came out. This person ate and finished while the other 11 waited. People around us that arrived well after us were receiving their meals. At least 5 Uber Eats ordered went out. About 45 minutes later, two more chicken meals came out (not even hot - like they were just sitting out back) without the rice that was meant to go with the meal. Useless. The staff could see we were visibly frustrated because of how long the meals were taking and no one even bothered to come up to us and apologise. Eventually a girl came to us and said 'you need something else?' which was honestly laughable as at this point we had waited an hour for meals. What more could we possibly want lol!

Side dishes of rice finally arrived an hour after ordering them and by the time we got them, mains had gone cold and majority of the table were put off by the terrible service. There was no offer to replace our mains that went cold, no apology. More than $200 was spent on meals on the night and all they could offer was one of the rices to be free of charge (and this was ONLY because I complained at the front when they were charging us), despite all of us having been affected. 100% avoid this place, we regret not doing our research first. If I could put 0 stars I would.

This place is so good! Recently taken over by new owners and they are so authentic!! We had take away here last night and I'm eating leftovers for lunch and I love the flavours!!!
The owner served us and she was lovely!
Can't wait to come back here with all our friends to eat again!!

I’m sorry, but the first time I had take away from here it was excellent, second time not great, and tonight, absolutely filthy. Not fit to eat.

I ordered curry puffs, spring rolls, satay chicken skewers, Singapore noodle and a green curry. A hefty takeaway total of $54. What could go wrong?

First up, entrees.

Curry puffs. Delicious! Second, spring rolls. Hmmm. These are a few days old. And luke warm. I asked for beef, these look like mystery meat pork. That’s ok, I’ll eat them anyway. You kids want some?

I open the plastic container with the satay chicken skewers. Excuse me, what is this? They were quite literally green and black I couldn’t even look at them. I should have taken a photo to prove it. Obviously the chicken was off, must have been frozen and then microwaved. Foul. Straight in the bin. Would you give this to your child?

All was not lost. I still had a Singapore noodle and green chicken curry. Wait! No, this isn’t Singapore noodle. This is dirt paste mushed in with tofu and frozen cauliflower on a bed of what looks like yellow hair. Is that a slug head or a peanut? Don’t want to know. No, thank you. Bin.

At least we have a chicken curry between three of us?

The chicken green curry was delicious until I found two large black Pubic hairs. Bin.

Whyyyyyyy.

Fine! I will just order pizza!

And let’s not even mention the 11 year old boy who took my order on the phone and couldn’t understand a simple order for chicken curry, rice and curry puffs.

Im all for family business, but this is the worst gate keeper I have ever experienced. I was on the phone for 20 minutes to a child who spoke perfect english but didn’t know how to take an order. I almost hung up but stupidly persevered. I was way too polite and now regret it.

Should have known. The writing was on the wall.

Awesome local joint, very friendly owner, foods good most times! My only negative feedback is they gotta do something with their kids! Didnt come to a play centre to eat.

Had the green Thai curry which went down a treat for a lunchtime run, however the portion sizing wasn't big at all. Overall service was pleasant.

They had uber eats and lunch specials so already a big win in my books. Food delivered on time. The curry was good but such a small portion size.

Food is ok and the owner is very friendly; unfortunately it took them nearly an hour to prepare our order on a very quiet night (only 3 other tables filled). I think they’re prioritizing food deliveries and pick-up.

Don't bother when they not busy, the food really good and authentic food. Staff friendly and helpful. good for a local place like Dingley village.
Karen
Food was very underwhelming. Pad Thai flavour was off, however Red Curry was not bad. They also got my order wrong - won’t be coming back sorry!

Me & my boyfriend ordered the Pad Thai & Rice Paper Rolls. It was my boyfriend's first time trying the Pad Thai and he loved it. As for the customer service, it was exceptional. The staff (owner?) lit a candle for us, seated us away from a group of customers and was super cheerful and friendly. Thank you so much - we will be back!

Very friendly staff/owner, however shocking to see only 2 table in the whole restaurant at dinner time. We’ve ordered over 10 dishes and theres only 2/3 dishes taste good. But we are happy with the cheerful service provided.
Stephanie
Food is nice during the week but on Saturday & Sunday nights they must have a different chef as it's definitely not as good. They often make mistakes with the orders and their seafood options are all a little overpriced but for a weeknight takeaway option it's quite good!

I tried the green curry chicken and was really good. I definitely recommend this place if your looking for a nice meal out or some thai takeaway. Really friendly service as well, can't go wrong with this restaurant.

Very disappointing, had delivery tonight and was terrible! Advised 50 minute wait ordered at 5.30 and food didn't come until 6.50pm. Soup came cold and the curry was not medium spiced- just very plain and boring. Disappointing, driver didn't offer an apology for late service just dropped food and didnt say a word. Nothing free to compensate either.

Loved it, Great food, Great people and friendly staff, nice clean and tidy restaurant, really enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend to anyone who loves Thai food.

Do not order take away slow , stuffed up order , cold
Eat at your own risk
What more can I say I will never go back there ruined a birthday party Grrrr
Sarah Bowes
Do NOT order delivery....arrives 30 minutes late and cold! Very disappointing when you have spent over $50 for 2 people! No apologies and no offer of refund. Avoid!

This is the best Thai restaurant in the world. This is not an over exaggeration, I truly believe that the chef's tap into some Supernatural force to produce food this good.

Food is ok when it is what you ordered, 3rd time in a row that I have asked them to repeat my order over the phone back to me and it had still been wrong, The food has also taken double the time they have told me it would take.

Great food fresh and tasty we went on Thursday night and had a great time.
Food was tasty service was friendly.
Highly recommend Chilli Jam Prawns and Pad Thai

Fish tasted heavily of ammonia. Ordered steamed ginger fish and the fish tasted and smelt heavily of ammonia. And it cost just under $20. Disgusting. Never ordering here again.
Gina
Okay. Not too much crowd. overall is ok not the best thai had in Melbourne.

Come here regularly. byo beer wine etc. good service, nice and cheap food. what more can you ask? best satay I've had, and roti is great. entrees are pretty crap, specifically the spring rolls.

Thai-ribble. As a Dingley resident, I am not exactly spoiled for choice when it comes to quality food. But even by Dingley's standards, Dingley Thai is utterly horrific. Firstly, never eat in. The dull setting is made cheaper by creaky floorboards and ancient carpet. I'm glad there are no clocks on the wall, because the ticking is all that you would hear when sitting at a table (such is the dull atmosphere). DIngley Thai should be treated as a takeaway service only. Which leaves us the price and food to judge. The food is overpriced and low quality. I could cook a better Pad Thai in 3 minutes in a microwave. For the record, shredded carrot seems to be their go-to ingredient to give their meals some colour. It adds little and tastes like orange dry wall. There is, however, one positive to "Dingley Thai." The removal of ambiguity from the restaraunt name is a welcome change from the former "Poo Ping Palace."

Chu Chee Duck. Delicious

An average experience. Was hopeful of finding a diamond
in the rough but unfortunately our experience here was quite underwhelming. Service was pleasant but quite slow, food was nothing special (except the curry puffs which were great) and it was pricey, most of the mains up towards $20.

Poor service. Went there for the first time and the service was totaly invisible. all othe tables were served with water food drinks but me and my wife. we had to shout for the staff to get them off there phones to get any attention.

food was good but dont think we will be back.

Have had takeaway from here a few times, but won't be going back. I love good Thai, but the food here lacks flavour, and meat quality used is poor.

Most Thai places have strong flavored dishes, unfortunately this place rated very low and no flavors in green curry hence bland. the coconut rice was yellow which had no coconut taste. Satay sticks had skin on them ;( and were expensive at $16 for 8 as didn't use breast meat. Guessing its chinese or vietemese owners. All in all lesson learnt at $55 so dont go to local place unless you know it's good by recommendation.

Good Suburban Thai. I order take away or pick up here on average once a month on lazy Friday nights. I usually order Pad Thai and my partner orders a chicken curry. The Pad Thai is tasty and the size of the serve fills me nicely. There is nothing special about this restaurant and I wouldn't hold a function there but for tasty takeaway it is perfect.

Fantastic local thai!. I've been a regular at Dingley Thai for both take away, delivery and eat in for over a year. I cannot fault their food and service. The meals are always fresh and well made and I think very reasonably priced. My favourites are chicken curry puffs and green chicken curry. I love the place so much that it was the place I had my first date with my now partner!

Would not eat here again... My boyfriend and I have ordered takeaway from Dingley Thai twice and been disappointed on both occasions.

Lemon chicken - chicken and sauce came in two separate containers, the sauce of which looked and tasted horribly artificial.. and smelled like gatorade!

Mongolian beef - looked nice but was overpowered by an incredible amount of garlic.

Our entrees were also average in comparison to other local Thai restaurants.
Christina
A great local Thai restaurant. Ordered the stir fry chicken - was fantastic. Not as oily as some other restaurants I have been to. Staff very friendly, prices reasonable. Although we ordered take away, the decor of the restaurant was lovely. I'll be going there again for my weekend Thai fix.

The food is delicious but at a high price.
I got the massaman curry 8/10
Coconut rice 7/10
Tom yum soup 7.3/10
And the total was nearly $30.

The customer service was the best out of any reastaraunt i have been to yet here in Australia.

Very friendly staff, yum food, large prices.

Overall 7/10

Thai food, good food.. Very romantic setting with friendly staffs who are quick to serve with a smile. They don't speak good english but its all part of the experience.
I ordered two large steamed rice and they brought out a small pot with a ladle. It was very nice that I could portion out the rice as I pleased.
The duck and curry melts in your mouth.
Definitely coming back soon.
