Review Divino Ristorante At Mandala Wines - Dixons Creek

Always nice dining experience with restaurants in wineries, especially this one. Even though the portion of the dishes are not as big as we expected but the flavor as well as the freshness of the ingredients are all magnificent. Nice place to enjoy few drinks and dining in with friends and family!

We had 20 people there and they all said it was fantastic. Sophia and the staff were very helpful and were not focused on up selling but instead good old fashioned service with a smile. It was nothing short of fantastic. I'll be back.

Such a lovely place to have lunch. Great food and great service.

This is one fantastic restaurant producing great Italian food with service to match. Really enjoyed the wood fired Focaccia, the base was perfect, crusty and so much taste. Also had the Saffron Arancini to start with, they were so good, light and fluffy, perfect! For main, we had the Eye Fillet, it melted in the mouth, perfectly cooked and a good quality piece of meat Also, we had the Crab Risotto, was exceptional Tried a few Mandala wines as well, really liked the Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir Definitely will be back to try some of the other options available on the menu.

Beautiful sunny day so we had booked a table outside which was a great choice. Views were lovely and inside was SO noisy with echos like a train station that it would have ruined our experience. Staff were professional and friendly, with a special shout out to Scott who went over and above. Food was tasty and well presented. Enjoyable experience

Strongly recommend the "Let Us Feed You" selection on the Menu (great value). Food and presentation amazing. Service and ambiance excellent. What better way to spend a Winters day with friends in the Yarra Valley, with a glass or two also! Cheers.

My partner and I dined at Divino last Thursday for lunch. We were the only people in the restaurant as we had an early reservation and was seated on a corner table with lovely views. Our server was lovely and attended to us when we needed it- she was not pushy and allowed us privacy which we appreciated as we don't like to be constantly asked if everything is okay. We didn't order much but was impressed with what we did. The pate was generous and while not silky the taste was still great. The cured salmon was also really good with a great balance of acidity, though I wish there was more dill flavour. The prawn pizza was our highlight- woodfired with a great tomato base and cheese. My partner even ate the zucchini which he normally doesn't like! They also provided chilli oil which actually had heat to it unlike other places which just taste like olive oil. Along with our lunch we had the Mandala wine tasting and Italian wine tasting-a great selection and nice change up and comparison. Mandala's fume blanc was out favourite, and we prefer red wine! All in all a great experience and will definitely come back for more of their menu next time we're in the Yarra.

Had an amazing lunch with my husband yesterday ( May 5, 2022) at Divino Restaurante at Mandala. Its our second time there but we both feel that the second time was definitely better than the first time. We opted for the "The Feed Me option". Lets just say we were stuffed!! I had to takeaway one of the dessert ( Canoli) The tiramisu was smooth, delicious and just perfect. Definitely be back to this place again. My sister and her parents in law are arriving in two weeks time from Barcelona and will be taking them to this place for sure.

I know Luca from long time he is a young entrepreneur, very passionate and ambitious he always shined in anything he did. Luca and Sofia are a rocking couple in fact Mandala is managed with love, the secret ingredient of any successful business! The food is amazing, Cristian the chef is always looking for the best products. He combines the experiences acquired from Italian traditional food with the exotic ones learned while traveling, the food is mouthwatering and each plate looks like a fresh painted canvas. The location is breathtaking!! Highly recommend to visit them!

Unbelievable food and service. Entree through to mains...all AMAZING!

Delicious food and friendly service. We had the mix antipasto and lamb as main and both were amazing.

We popped in to Divino Ristorante for lunch as part of a wine tour and were really happy with everything. Staff were friendly, food was hot and came out fast considering the large group setting. We ordered a pizza and pasta and shared them… because how can you not have a little bit of both :) Food and wine were delicious. Really lovely little wine farm. Will be back when we’re in the Yarra Valley again.

The best pizza I ever had!! Seriously! :)

Yep,squashed into a small table that we had to sit adjacent to each other, although this was a birthday lunch and reservations made way prior.
Service was alright, food served pretty fast.Loved the duck prosciutto pizza. Seafood tagliatelle tasted fishy but ok.
Cmzajicek
We found the food alright but the service a little challenging. First we were seated at the wrong table and had to move somewhere else, then throughout our dining we were constantly interrupted with servers bringing main meals, desserts and coffees to our table that we didn’t order! Staff were lovely but they need a better process to manage the floor. The food was alright, but not the amazing tasting pizza/calzone is expected!

Took a lovely Sunday drive to the Yarra Valley looking for what other than good wine and good food and ended up at Mandala Wines.

ATMOSPHERE:
As you walk in to your right hand side you will find the tasting room; if you continue straight it will lead you to the restaurant which is open and bright.

FOOD:
We tried the...
- Antipasto platter
- Arancini balls
- Porcini & Sausage Pizza

RATING (4/5): 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Overal this restaurant is a lovely stop amongst the abundance. The food was delightful, the Arancini a clear winner for us. The wine was just right! Would like to visit again

Nice and relaxing Sunday lunch setting.

Nothing that wowed me. Food was decent and good service as well.

Won’t be rushing back though but it was a nice experience

Amazing food. Ordered the gnocchi with duck and wagyu skirt steak. Gnocchi was a very generous serve, light and served with a lovely rich duck ragout. Wagyu was ordered medium and was delivered perfect, very tender and full of flavour. We shared a dessert off the specials menu which was a chocolate tart, OMG it was wicked, coffee was excellent too. Only thing we could fault was the greeting, we arrived on the dot of midday and were left standing around as all staff seemed busy with their tasks. Would have lovely to have been greeted by a front of house person. We will definitely be back

This place beautiful. We came here for our anniversary and we enjoyed every single bites. Our steak is stunning accompanied with a fresh salad. Dessert is amazing! If you stay in Yarra Valley, this is recommended!

Excellent venue, modern and elegant. Great food (on the expensive side) and service. Good wines. We had a problem with the bathroom, which has being resolved. We will be back.

Yum food and very friendly staff. The cellar door is definitely worth a visit as well - we tried the entire tasting wine menu and picked our favorite :-)))

Very tasty food and friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere and perfect for a relaxing afternoon. We got eye fillet, eggplants and seafood pizza, all taste amazing . We will definitely come back again next time.

Food was good, bill came up to be over 350 but good quality produce we had the duck ravioli, eggplant parma, lamb, barramundi, gnoochi and the mandala rose. Service was amiable and we had our food in time, the restaurant wasnt as pretty compared to nearby wineries but its family friendly
Edgar Darmawan
Nice place with a gazebo in the back. Pizza had a really nice dough. Appetizers were really good, particularly the salmon, while the quail and fried cheese were really nice also. Special duck breast had a nice combination with pomegranates, while steak was also very tasty. Duck leg had a nice smoked duck tortellini on the side, while the duck leg itself could have been crispier. Seafood ragu pasta was overcooked but flavour was okay. Coffee could have been a a bit stronger.

All in all, quite a positive meal!
Ciaoamicos
Fantastic place, the location itself is stunnig. Great italian food, best pizzas i had in Melbounre , great wine list. The service was very good too, nice and casual. Definitely a place to go if you are in the area
Nataliecnunn
We were seated at the entrance of the restaurant not in the dining section. Service was great to start with then tapered off to ignoring us.
My pizza was cold and hardly any prawns - basically a vegetarian pizza. My sister had noted it had been siting on the bench for awhile before being served with the rest of the mains. Base very soggy....you couldn’t pick a piece up for example.

Came here because De Bortoli was booked out, but I was so glad we did. Had the capaccio and roasted quail as entrees and oh my goddddd. So delicious. Then the main came! Duck leg tortellini and lamb ragu gnocchi were so divine. Clouds of goodness, melt in your mouth meat and a very modern venue. Must visit!

Fantastic place. The building itself is stunning, glass-walled restaurant with view on the vines and the beautiful garden. The food is the highlight of the place, we shared a couple of pizzas and then had the lamb for 2, the duck breast and the duck leg tortellini, all cooked to perfection, so yummy. The service was impeccable too. The local wines were also great. Highly Recommended

Fantastic find.. Great food and wine. We had antipasti to share, the chateaubriand and the squid ink fettucini. All cooked to perfection and amazing flavours, also the dessert were great. we'll be back!!

Lunch on a beautiful Saturday ruined by terrible treatment by inflexible and rude wait staff.

Didn't hang around long enough to eat. Won't be back.

DiVino Ristorante at Mandala Wines was our Saturday Night dining location on our Yarra Valley weekend escape. We were able to get a seat near a window (as per our request on booking), but quickly learnt that it's really only useful in Summer, when the light holds into the evening.

The restaurant is quite cosy and we we're quickly guided to our table by our friendly waitress. On the menu this evening was an entree of a deep fried Zucchini flower (special for the night), followed by main of Roasted Duck Leg and House-made Pumpkin Ravioli. We added a side of the rocket salad, which was fortunate for the girlfriend.

The zucchini flower was nice, though it was an odd mix of the warm zucchini flower combined with the cold vegetables and spread. Side note, we weren't offered or mentioned any bread, but I can now see that the option is there on the menu (though well hidden it seems). Likely an oversight on our part than any intentions from the waitress, but something to be aware off.

Onto the mains and it was a mixed bag. The roasted duck leg was amazing, everything that you'd expect it to be (if you like this kind of meat). The smoked duck tortellini is an acquired taste and if you're unsure about smoked duck, then it's probably recommended to take a pass as there is a lot of it in the dish. Again, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

The Pumpkin ravioli was also good and bad (based on the missus feedback). The good is that it seemed to taste nice (good balance of flavours an all), but the bad was the perceived serving size. I believe there were 5 pieces of ravioli, which I suppose could be the right amount, but she was grateful for the side of rocket salad on the table.

We finished the meal with a simple 'Tiramisu' that was just right. Everything you'd want from a tiramisu and no surprises.

All in all, it was a nice evening, though I think with some more inspired food choices (on our part), it could've been even more enjoyable. Hopefully you'll feel the same way if you choose to try this place. Solid 3, but I suspect it could easily be higher for you.

I ordered the squid pasta. Sooo good. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. You lose 1 point for charging the customer fees for credit card transactions. Merchant fees are a cost to the business, not the customer. This just leaves a bad taste when you leave. Suggestion - increase your service price and remove them on check out
The food here was above and beyond, we ordered entree the ham hock terrine and the roasted quail involtino with quail eggs which was cooked perfectly and full of flavour. Main was the duck breast with beetroot purée and the eye fillet steak with pumpkin purée which again were cooked perfectly and the meat could be cut with a butter knife it was so tender. Amazing food and wine, we will definitely be back.

Loved the food, especially the barramundi which was on the specials menu. Semifreddo was just average for $14. Only down side is if you sit outside, there’re a lot of flies which didn’t allow us to fully focus on eating because we were trying to chase them away!
Nikz
Big disappointment. I came here with my family for my dad's birthday. The girls at the front didn't approach us to seat us even though it wasn't busy. I had to approach them for them to take us to our seats. We ordered the seared barramundi, king george whiting risotto and porterhouse. We requested medium rare for the porterhouse, but they both came out well done. Very big let down. The risotto was a sloppy mess topped with 3 soggy fried king george whiting. Only the seared barramundi was good.

When the waitress came to collect our plates and saw that the risotto and the two porterhouse plates were half full, she didn't ask how our meal was. She just collected our plates and asked if we wanted dessert. Because we didn't enjoy the lunch at all, we decided to skip the dessert.

Despite the good reviews on Zomato, my family and I were very disappointed with not only the food, but the service as well. At least the service in the wine cellar was good!
Nat
Really a let down. The restaurant when closed up can be quite noisy. The zucchini flowers were bland and really only tasted like bread crumbs and the gnocchi, also under seasoned and a little starchy for my taste. Thought we’d try the apple tart and again really no taste here either. Food presentation was the only thing I kind of really liked. For the price, I feel it would be better spent in one of the many other wineries.

Good food ambiance tiny potions though.. all in all a good lunch, my family and I enjoyed it. The service at this place was amazing can’t fault it

We have been to DiVino Ristorante for dinner on a Saturday night and we really enjoyed it.
As an appetizer we had the homemade burrata and Prosciutto with a glass of M by Mandala, for main we tried the duck tortellini with two glasses of Enoteca 88 rose and the Chateaubriand for two. The dessert was incredible. white chocolate semifreddo with peanuts send. We loved the entire experience. Great food, great wine, Amazing service and breathtaking location
We came on a Saturday after the lunch rush. There was a short wait for a table but we didn't mind. We ordered the tiger prawns in a chilled soup and the quail involtini to start. The entrees tasted really nice and were plated beautifully. We also ordered the pumpkin pizza to share. I enjoyed the pumpkin puree and the candied walnuts added a nice texture to the pizza. However, I wished that there were more meatballs on the pizza as the pizza looked a little sparse.

The food here is absolutely delicious and the customer service is really great. It’s such a beautiful place to eat and taking your drinks outside into the garden after dinner is the perfect way to end a delicious meal. Will definitely be returning!
Our Foodie Finds
So we've made an exception for this place and not knocked them down to a 3.0 rating as we had the best pizza (we know, big call) we have ever had. Even better than 400 Gradi! Perhaps it was just the type of pizza which was a Duck prosciutto, tartufo e foie gras, but OMG! In saying that we love foie gras.

A quick squiz on Zomato for highly rated restaurants in Yarra Glen, DiVino Ristorante came up first and with a rating of 4.2 so off we went. Located at Mandala Wines, DiVino has a Tuscan feel to it from the moment you drive onto the estate. The driveway is lined with shady trees which was perfect for us to park under especially since it was quite hot.

Having booked here at 12.00pm, we arrived a few minutes late and were the second group for the day. Oddly however, when we walked in we weren't greeted by the staff until a few moments of waiting in the foyer whilst they finished what seemed to be just folding napkins. It was like..."errr hello, patrons here just standing around". When we were finally noticed, we were greeted warmly, reservation confirmed and brought inside to the back corner of the restaurant where a table was set with views of the back courtyard. It was beautiful and perfect...except for one really annoying thing and actually quite off putting...FLIES! It was a hot day and we get that doors open and close and especially at a vineyard, it's bound to happen but there was heaps of them! We would have expected that a place like this but really any establishment serving food would have this under wraps with either a fly zapper or perhaps a Mortein automatic repellant spray. We had sat for just 2 or 3 minutes before we had enough and asked to move. If you're wondering what the picture of the lemon lined with cloves is, the hostess said it was for the flies. If you're the owner of DiVino Ristorante and you're reading this, fork out at least $120.0 and buy x6 Mortein sprays (roughly $20.0) each and get them installed in your restaurant asap!

Now enough about that...

The restaurant entry is a little dark with smaller windows on the left hand side with the kitchen and wood fired oven directly opposite. The main dining floor is flooded with natural light provided by the large floor to ceiling bay view windows that enable you to see straight through to the courtyard where the outdoor gazebo has a beautiful view into the vineyards.

We ordered an entree of the Barramundi Croquette $12.0; light and delicious with a great combination of ingredients that set the scene for the rest of our meal. Could have done with a sprinkle of salt but would have just been a preference. For mains, we had a specials main of seafood squid ink taglietelle ragout ($32.0? not sure) which was delicious! Perfectly seasoned and balanced. The pizza: Duck prosciutto, tartufo e foie gras $36.0 was just to die for. Something about the combination of the wood fired ovens taste, the the duck prosciutto, buffalo mozarell, rocket and ofcourse the foie gras. Everything together made for the most amazing pizza we've ever had and that's a big call as we've tried in Italy: Florence and Rome and this takes the top spot. Only problem is that we have to travel an hour to get this pizza so probably might have to settle with Gradi until we we can either move closer or Uber eats deliver from the Yarra Valley 😂 It also takes the cake for the most expensive pizza we have had also but with the cost of foie gras, it made sense.

The staff here were very attentive, checking in a few minutes after each meal was served and took the time to explain each dishes ingredients and how it was cooked. They even gave us a house made limoncello at the end odour meal prior to having a coffee to cleanse the pallet (on the house). We had wished though that they told us it was a liqueur before we shotted it.

If you're around town or you're up for a small drive into the Yarra Valley, make a reservation at DiVino Ristorante and get into their delicious menu. Don't forget the duck pizza. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find!

Customer service admittedly was very good. Ordered the arancini for appetizer - they were barely the size of a 20c coin and most of them were frozen. Pizza as a main was nice and decent serving but all the other main dishes were very tiny.

Divino ristorante @ Mandala wines, Yarra Valley, cuisine - Italian. Lovely setting among the wineries, great menu with lots of vegetarian options - we had the pumpkin ravioli, arancini and fried burrata. This place will definitely make you happy 😊! Worth the drive for a special lunch. The food was fresh, delicious and a treat for the eyes too. If you are heading to the wineries this one is worth a visit. The guy who was managing the wine tasting gave us the history behind its bottle labels - how it depicts things important in the owner’s life! So inspirational and heart warming!! A great day out becomes one to remember with great food! @divino_ristorante @mandalawinesyv #rating4.5 #specialday #weekdayouting #winerylunch #warmweather #summerishere☀️ #italianfood #delicious #vegetarianfood #vegetarianrocks #vegetarianfoodie #lovemylife #yarravalley #ilovemelbourne #instablogger #vegetarianblogger #foodblogger #foodielife #foodieforlife #vegbourne #ravioli #burrata

Gorgeous sunlit restaurant surrounded by a beautiful garden setting and views over the vineyards. All of the food was well presented and captured well balanced flavours. Highly recommend for lunch while visiting the Yarra Valley!

We had the most lovely lunch here on a Saturday. The restaurant and surrounds are stunning, I can imagine it would perfect for a wedding. We ordered a selection of meals to share between 4 of us. We had a special which was stuffed zucchini flowers, aranchini balls, pumpkin ravioli and prosciutto pizza. Everything was delicious and just as much a feast for the eyes - all presented so beautifully. My personal favourite was the pumpkin ravioli. Service was exceptional.
Carien
Disappointed.
Waitress not quite sure what they are doing; and red wine has residual and they told me they’ve filtered it. Sent the red wine TWICE before they decided to open a new bottle.

Wonderful service and food. We had the duck breast, gnocchi, pizza and steak. Everyone was sooo satisfied with their meals and the two ladies serving us were a delight
Secret Taster
Came here for a girls get together. Lovely setting. Lovely food. I like the idea of their bread basket - a few bread types to select from. Good for a group, but probably too much for two ppl. I really enjoyed the jamon, pizza and steak. The various sides we ordered was delicious too. We also had a tasting of venison. It was a serving for two. It was definitely a large dish, but it was a bit hard on certain areas, dry at other parts. I hardly touched this dish. We ordered a few desserts to share and all were polished off. Then we went to the garden and took photos of this lovely place. I can imagine this would be a awesome place for a wedding. The setting was practically there for it. We were there for several hours and really enjoyed our time there. Overall a great day to spend w friends.

I attended a family birthday lunch a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon. The entree of the guest of honour was the fried school prawns. They looked like the bait and the table joked about them looking like the parasites that attached a school boy in Qld. They were tiny and were not eaten. My prawn pizza was the worst meal I have ever eaten. The few pieces of prawns were less than 5mm in size. The rest of the topping was barely visible either except for the tomatoes that were swimming on the pizza. Wishing not to make a scene with the rest of the table, I did not complain but called the restaurant a few days later to speak to the manager. It was a most disappointing response. She said they cut the prawns to spread them around the pizza. It there was one entire prawn cut on top I would be amazed. It was pitiful. The best they could offer was another pizza on another visit. I wont be going back ever! Other dishes were better but the duck was over cooked, the fish a small serve. The only good meal was the beef. I've need done a review until now as I couldn't leave it for someone to experience the same thing. Hopefully they will be more attentive in the future and actual place some contents on their pizza in the future.

Lovely winery out at Yarra Valley region, great to pop out and do some wine tasting and have lunch on a weekend. Scenery is quite pretty.

Have been here a few times, dishes have changed each time we have visited which has given us a variety to choose from.

We enjoyed our Pizza's ~ ordered prosciutto crudo e buffala; zucca, gorganzola e pancetta.

Other dishes ordered included ~ House Made Gnocchi and Pan Seared Duck Breast which were nice though felt didn't meet our expectations.

Have visited this place in the past and have enjoyed their dishes.
Tony
Went here on a glorious winter day. Ordered Barramundi croquettes and bread basket. Fish was ok, bread nice, fresh and warm mmmmmmm. Ordered beef special which was a shared dish. Cooked perfectly and delicious. Great restaurant and must visit!
Cavendish
Beautiful spot in the Yarra Valley. Restaurant has great views and is set beautifully in a glasshouse. We went on a weekday so didn't get the noise that others complain about - rather it was very tranquil with attentive and friendly service. The recommended Chardonnay was a great accompaniment to a delicious antipasto plate. The prawn ravioli with roast barramundi tasted as good as it looked and the apple tart capped off a great meal and dining experience. Recommended and will return.
Andrew
Absolutely fantastic, but the only little downfall was the noise. Highly recommended dishes to try: Wagyu resaola, deep fried zucchini flowers, prawn & smoked potato ravioli & (daily specials) duck breast. 10/10.
Piggy
Nice setting but too noisy with all hard surfaces and no acoustic damping at all. I can't believe the architect didn't incorporate soft furnishings or acoustic panels. It would have made this place a lot more welcoming. It wasn't even half full for lunch.
Food was good. Ravioli was delicious and cooked just right. Wife's beef was good - not perfect. Risotto was enjoyed by son, but too cheesy for me and the wife. Flavours fresh and great.
Tiramisu semifreddo was very nice. Apple tart walnut crumble was amazingly delicious.
Overall a great occasion. I wish restaurants were less noisy to enable talking without raising voices. Good food was marked down because of noisy resonating surrounds.
I Just Love Good Food
Visited this place few days ago when everywhere else was packed. Very attentive service and exceptional food. Eye fillet was tender and juicy, stuffed gnocchi was good but not amazing. The best part was the dessert which is apple tart, it was beyond words.
SuzLovesFood
We dined at this establishment purely by accident as the restaurant we had wanted to visit was closed...but boy are we glad we ate here. The service was amazing. The food was even better! We were not overly taken with the landscaping or interior design of this restaurant, but did I mention the food was fantastic?!!!
Ali Moghimi
We went to Mandala for a Saturday lunch. It was a beautiful place and staff were friendly. I went for the chef's selection for entree, steak for the main and tiramisu for dessert, Enjoyed all of them! Will definitely try this place again!

My partner and I sat down for lunch and were overwhelmed by the noise. It was the worst I have ever experienced but the very nice waitress suggested we move to a table in the bar area. Sanity restored. We both had the duck which was delicious and a very large serve. The jus on the mashed potato was delightful and the accompanying witlof etc. just right. We had several glasses of the featured wine of the day, an Italian Brunelli. I thought the price on the board $38 was for a bottle but it was for a glass. Ouch!
Finished off with the Pannacotta which was excellent. Overall a very nice lunch but until they install some treatment to reduce the noise level in the main restaurant area I would only book if I could get a table in - very pleasant - bar area.
Erin MargaretJean
The service was excellent, the waiters are quick, professional but funny ;) They had a great knowledge of wines. I like this modern style decor and the atmosphere is relaxing. Great Food. I recommend you drive to DiVino Ristorante on your way back from the winneries in the Yarra Valley, open form 5pm. My mum stopped here on her honeymoon trip from Perth to Melbourne.
Kleopatra Christodoulou
The food was amazing , staff were very friendly!Great selection of food and wine available!! Highly recommend! Will be dining here again! Thank you!

Mandala Winery is one of those beautifully packaged, yet sorely disappointing wineries. I dined here on a Saturday afternoon as part of a group of 8 and, as I walked in, I was totally impressed by the absolutely beautiful space. The dining hall looks like a large greenhouse and filled with natural light – the one big thing I noticed upon arrival though was the lack of diners. A concerning sign for any restaurant!
Rachael
Really loved this place, had all three courses and I look forward to coming back again. My partner had the pork belly, eye fillet then tiramisu; while I had the burrata, eye fillet and pannacotta. Oh and we split their thick cut chips with aioli. Yum! Great views too
Edge
Came here with a group of friends for lunch. We were excited for our weekend away to try Mandala and the menu looked yummy. We ordered the Antispati platter and Kingfish cerviche for entrees, Barramundi, Duck risotto and Lamb for main meal, tiramisu and lemon tart for dessert. The entrees were great and we thoroughly enjoyed them. We were anticipating for the yummy mains but it was a disappointment. All the main dishes ordered was super salty and especially the duck risotto was inedible as it felt like you were just eating plain salt. The salt was so overpowering and all you could taste in the main dishes was salt. We were incredibly disappointed and most likely would not be returning again.

Spent a lazy Sunday in Yarra valley to consecrate the last day of summer break and the dreaded first day back at work for 2016. I had the potato filled tortellini and the husband had fish of the day (barramundi). Lovely food that was paired with the wines we had just tasted before we had lunch. Desserts were lovely also. An added bonus of dining at the winery is the 20% discount on any wine purchases made when you dine at the restaurant. The vineyard was picturesque and a great little place to "get away from it all".
Nilesh Patel
Great wines and food. The lamb three ways was amazing.

The pate starter could have done with some toast as the dried vegetables were not enough but overall a good experience
Sarah C
We had lunch here - 2 adults and an extremely well behaved toddler. Setting and wine were amazing but our overall experience was let down by just ok food and unhelpful service which flies in the face of many other reviews.

The pork belly entree was let down by soggy skin whilst the smoked potato tortellini had a very grainy, underseasoned purée. My husband enjoyed his fish of the day, but what fish it was I couldn't tell you as we weren't informed. We also had to ask for water, weren't offered more wine when our glasses were empty (we would have had more too!) and didn't see a smile or a hint of enthusiasm.

Maybe we were there on an off day, but I'm not sure I'd bother again.
Justin Wong
The food has great gastronomy influence with foam techniques. Food presented in a very interesting way. Had the lamb fish and rabbit. All has nothing to complain at all. Very well recommended. I say, almost at par with Locale at De Bortoli
Retrogrrl
Extremely noisy but we were moved to a corner table. Disappointing food - Spatchcock was very dry and lacked interest - no sauce. Creme Brulee wasn't set and there was only a teaspoon of thin caramel on top, no flavour. Partner enjoyed his duck however. $55 for two courses? I think not...
Bronwyn
Trekked out here with a group buying voucher, so expectations were low! But were completely exceeded. Beautiful winery, lovely dining space which we enjoyed after a brief wine tasting. Food was good, and my fillet steak cooked to melt-in-the-mouth perfection. We ordered chips (fat bundles of fabulousness) and grain salad (delicious way to off-set the health concerns!) and finished with the chocolate/coffee dessert. Recommended.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night was pretty quiet, but we were glad it was quiet it was a romantic night with some great local wines, we started off with the beef tartare and the osso bucco tortalini both were great, next were the duck and eye fillet the steak was a little over cooked but delicious non the less. The big let down was the mango parfait it was extremely icey and the mango coulis was very watery tasting would recommend an entrée main here for sure.

Dined here on Saturday for lunch. It was a lovely sunny day after a long, bleak winter and the airy, light filled dining room looked so inviting on arrival. With full glass walls on 3 sides, every table is afforded a lovely view of the surrounding gardens. In March, we were here as wedding guests and were very impressed by the food food and wine. We made of point of coming back following Mandala's winter hiatus and brought two friends, as we wanted to introduce them to this little known gem in the Yarra Valley. Our guests ordered the Trio of Lamb and my husband and I both opted for the beef fillet. We all liked the look of the Chocolate Cremoso for desert. The meals were all beautifully presented. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and the accompanying pea puree and broad beans delivered a delightful splash of colour, taste and texture. The Trio of Lamb also received vigorous nods of approval as our guests tasted the three options. We chose the recommended wine "The Rock" Shiraz to go with the meal and enjoyed it. The service is efficient, if a little on the aloof side. But that's not something that would put me off going again, and again. Lucky me, as I live at the gateway to the Yarra Valley and it's never a big trip to this lovely region.

Very disappointing experience. I have been here before (mind you a couple of years ago) and had a great time. Good atmosphere and good food.
This time service was fine, food was absolutely off the mark. I went with my partner and we ordered the pork belly and terrine for entree - terrine was HUGE with no bread/biscuits or anything to eat it with. After a couple of mouthfuls it was just way too much.
For mains we ordered a medium rare steak and the osso bucco. The steak arrived well done and the osso bucco was SWIMMING in some sort of saffron something or other and smothered in gravy. I couldn't even see the meat and the whole dish was absolutely tasteless.
We sent both meals back and asked for the bill. Very disappointing considering this was also our anniversary lunch. I'm not sure if the food was cooked by a chef but if it was how embarrassing!

Overpriced - under delivered.. The dishes that were served were all trying too hard. Trying to be fancy but over-complicating things and coming up short. I get really frustrated when menus try too hard where if the chef stripped it back they could probably serve some decent meals. Entree zucchini flowers were nice but the terrine was dry and oversalted. Fish main was waaay to complicated and the small amount of fish got lost on the plate and was just a mess. Chicken main had an awful bitter burnt taste and inedible. Even rocket salad was way too salty and inedible. If you can't pull off these dishes, don't offer them!! It's just rude. I don't mind paying $62 for 2 dishes if it's worth it, which is why I left feeling ripped off and bitterly disappointed.

Bf and I celebrated our Valentine’s day last Saturday by having a road trip to Yarra Valley. Located just one hour from Melbourne CBD, it is a lovely place famous for wineries and good restaurants, with beautiful sceneries of vineyards across the region. I thought it would be the perfect place to spend the day together. As I was really late in booking a restaurant for our Valentine’s dinner, I figured I wouldn’t have much luck in getting one at all. I went to Dimmi and see if there is anything available on the day in the area. Luckily I was able to get a table for two for Valentine’s lunch (as dinner is booked out) in Mandala Wines restaurant. Having read the reviews in Urbanspoon, I knew I was in for a good treat.

All together, a very pleasant evening at a great little restaurant. Certainly worth a visit for food and if you opt for a lunch visit, be sure to stick around to try some of the lovely Mandala Wines as well.

Great Afternoon, Service and Amazing Food!. I arranged to have my husband's 30th Birthday at Mandala Wines. The staff were very organised polite and efficient making the afternoon relaxed and enjoyable. Everyone commented on how great the food and wine was. We will definitely be back!

Top quality and beautiful place. Impromptu family lunch turned out excellent. Scenic location and great modern menu with delicious wine. Barramundi one of the most delicious I've had ( and Rose is a real treat ).

Very impressed, really great food and service. We recently visited Mandala wines for Dinner. It was the best restaurant in Yarra Valley that we have been to. Antipasta had a good range and served with bread was delicious. We ordered the shared lamb dish for the 2 of us. Plenty of lamb, potatoes and peas. One of the best dishes I have ever eaten! Will definitely visit again.

Nice Venue, Good Food. We stopped at Mandala for lunch over the holiday period. The menu had ala carte as well as 2 or 3 course pricing. Well done. Mandala wine markups in their restaurant reflected pub markups but without alternatives labels, not so well done. Service was friendly and absolutely impeccable. The menu was well thought out and all food was well prepared and presented. We had the duck special, lamb, and fish of the day. Some meals are "for 2" which limits choices for singles. The "for 2" portions are generous without overfilling, with quality and quantity reflecting good value. All 5 diners were very happy.

Couldn't find fault. Sunday lunch for two in a gorgeous sunny room. All the staff were friendly and well trained. Our food portions were generous, well presented and tasted beautiful. We chose the antipasto platter and roast duck. Wines from their vineyard are reasonably priced and of above average quality. We had a delightful meal.

Really great Sunday lunch. Six of us went for Sunday lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. Food and wine were really good, especially the antipasto, steak and roasted duck. Two out of three of our group really liked the dropped lemon tart, the other person found it a bit gimmicky. Cheese platter was very generous, but the cheeses were OK rather than great. Coffee could be improved. Service was good, efficient and pleasant, the waitress really knew the wines and was able to talk us through them. Service was leisurely which suited us, but suggest you might need to let the staff know if you are needing to be a bit quicker. Tables are well spaced but the restaurant is a bit noisy. We will definitely go again but would probably always check the menu first to make sure there was something we liked the sound of, as the selection is small.

One of the nicest wineries in the area. We had a beautiful two course lunch. Food was beautifully presented and delicious. Service was very high standard also. Definitely one I'd recommend!

Visited mandala for lunch the first time on a Thursday afternoon. As we were one of the two tables that were there, expected attentive and swift service. However, received the contrary. Everything was so slow. Food wasn't that great nor was there a big selection to choose from. Not worth the drive there. Doubt there would be a second visit

Great dining. Had the second great experience at Mandala Winery restaurant on a Friday. A group of us went for the Friday summer pizza nights and on both occasions (with different people) enjoyed ourselves. The food was excellent, staff couldn't be more helpful and the location suburb.

Beautiful place, great pizzas and very friendly staff. A must go on the Yarra Valley.

Don't bother. The food is really good but the service is slow , hopeless. The room has been designed by a numpty so it is so loud you can't hear people at your own table. Way too hard. Buy the wine maybe, but don't go for a meal

-----23 Feb, 2014-----

Don't bother. The food is really good but the device is crap, slow , hopeless. FANTASTIC MEAL. We have eaten at mandala a few times and all the food is of high quality tasty and well presented... DELICIOUS!!!!
would go there any time.

We had heard good reports for Mandala but after put experience today would not go back. Inexperienced wait staff who asked us what we wanted (a table) and then proceeded to take payment from four tables who approached her after we had. On seating us, no one came near us to ask if we wanted a drink or to offer water. After waiting a while another waiter took orders from the table next to ours and kept checking on them to see if they needed anything while we were completely ignored. I hardly think they'd notice that we just walked out in the table, hungry and disappointed.

Single Site Dinner. Went to Mandala for a 5 course meal with a different wine with each course. The wine was wonderful as always and Charles gave us a history about each wine which was great to hear and how the names came about with family being the inspiration.
The food was great and very tasty!! Service was top notch and the atmosphere was fun. A great place to dine!!

Single Site - Out of sight!. Recently attended Mandala Wines 'Single Site Winemaker's Dinner', one in an ongoing series of innovative and exciting Mandala food and wine evenings. An occasion to be remembered, the inspired pairing of the sumptuous 'The Matriarch' Pinot Noir with the incredible Black Truffle Ravioli, Foie Gras sauce and raspberry reduction was a wow of a highlight! Four fun friends, five fabulous courses, one great evening!! Congrats on another great food event to the friendly, knowledgable and talented Mandala crew!!

Service fantastic. Served by a tall good looking gentleman who had fantastic knowledge of the wine and food. I order the pork belly and my partner order the lamb. Lamb was cold and served on a sour egg plant, pork was dry with a soggy crackling. Decided to skip dessert, will be back as I think we just came on a bad day

Incredible evening. I arranged a group of 10 to visit Mandala Wines on Saturday evening and we all had an incredible time.

The moment we arrived and were shown through to the wine tasting where Charles conducted the tasting, shared his wine making knowledge and the history of the property as well as some very good wines.

We were fortunate enough to have enjoyed samples from the new "Summer Menu", with Crab Salad, Mussel Soup, Lamb and Chicken being just a few. I must say that we all enjoyed our meals and thought they were very well priced. We managed to enjoy a few bottles of the Shiraz which also went down well.

I would thouroughly recommend this little jewell in the Yarra and am only dissapointed I have not stumbled upon it sooner!

Amazing views, terrible food.. Beautiful scenery, food was nice however very disappointing with the pork - there was a very small portion you could eat as it was very very fatty!

the service was fantastic and so was the wine, however when we went to pay there was an additional charge, which was a 10% surcharge for weekends - understandable if it's the long weekend, but really just a standard weekend that was a bit rich!

when we questioned it, the waitress gave us the option to speak to the manager straight away - must get quiet a few complaints!

would only go back for the wine and views, better off going balgownie estate food is more substantial and better value for your buck! wanted to support the smaller business' however i think i would think twice next time.

First visit was great, second time round very very poor!. Ive been to Mandala wines previously and it had left such a great impression that I decided to come back and celebrate my 25th birthday here. Unfortunately this time round I was very unsatisfied.

Ive booked a table for 20 and had 2 cancellations at the last min and was happy to pay for that however no one had inform us of that at the start because it would have been nice to know so that I had the option to order those two extra entree and mains for the guest to share considering everyone was complaining about the food.

I had the rainbow trout salad and it was not very fresh at all. My pork jowl was full of fat so I had little to eat there and the fries were not cooked properly. The salmon was very very fishy and the octopus salad was just a salad with minimal octopus.

It was such a shame cause the first time round the food were very fresh which was what i raved about to my guest prior to the invite.

Service was quick however waitress was very clumsy, nearly dropping a plate on a guest and dropped a dirty fork on another guest.

Standards had dropped from a 9/10 to a 5/10 a year later. What a shame. Don't think I would come back considering I had a 2 course lunch earlier at De Bortoli and that was cheaper, more filling and much much more delicious. Only thing that was still the same? the beautiful view.

Bad food and service. I came here tonight for my friends birthday dinner and will never to back here again.
The food looked pretty but when it came out it tasted horrible. Ordered a salmon dish and it came with soup..soup was horrible, tasted soo fishy..no one on the table ate it.
The staff are not professional, kept dropping the cutlery on the guests ..and were not professional. It felt like they were rushing us to eat.. Kept packing away the food even when we half finish.. It's happen during the evening.

Worst thing was the bday girl found out at the end of the night that she had to pay $120 for two of her friends that couldn't make it to the birthday. What kind of nonsense is that.. They should of told her at the start of the evening so at least she could share the extra dishes with her friends instead of paying for food that was not delivered.

I will tell all my friends never to come here and highly not recommend this place. Very disappointed and ruined our night.
Tasty
Below average. What started off as a pleasant day turned out to be very disappointing.
The food had been planned that far in advance that is looked old on the plate.
Our party of 6 had entrees and mains and they looked and tasted below average. I would meet refer or return based in the quality of food. The prices are very high and then they add a surcharge to top that off. Not happy mandala

Embarrassingly Bad!!. Poor service. Over-priced boring plates e.g. $31 for 4 bits of ravioli with what looked & tasted like peas & broad beans reheated from a frozen bag & a bit of goats cheese. Friend had beef - big bit of the cow's thigh bone on the plate but not much meat. I love to use Urban Spoon to praise good efforts but sadly this establishment doesn't deserve any praise at all. We won't be returning which is really disappointing given the wonderful location & facilities. It could work, but....
FoodN
Poor service and food well below average. Slow cooked beef ribs were simply a pile of fat on the plate. Chocolate pudding was bland and dry. Wont be back!!

Enjoyable food...... Had lunch here last week, place was empty so was expecting food and service to be faultless.

Ordered a few dishes. Soup was very enjoyable, bit pretentious though, was poured at the table, but for some reason the waitress decided that she wasn't giving me the whole portion in the bottle, bit strange.

Steak tartare and carpaccio dish was ok, tartare was over seasoned though. Beans were average, over blanched and in a spicy salsa which was ok. Salad was nice, but if you don't have fennel available for a fennel salad, may be worth mentioning this!

Overall, food not too bad, service pretty slack and not well informed, gave the impression she would have rather been somewhere else.

Another Jewel in the Yarra Valley. I stopped here for coffee and dessert a few weeks ago with two girlfriends and can't wait to return for a meal. What a wonderful establishment this is. A contemporary feel with an excellent menu and wine list including Mandalas own.
With many restaurants to choose from in this area, make this one in your top five, it's a beauty!

Fantastic lunch. I came here for my birthday and we had an excellent experience. The location is really lovely, with floor to ceiling windows in the restaurant to make the most of the view. The meals we ordered came in generous portions, consisted of excellent quality produce and had a great balance of flavours. In particular, the pork jowl was so tender and was just divine with the quince, and the pork ravioli with mushrooms had just the right balance to achieve a rich flavour without being too heavy.

Unfortunately two of the steaks we were served were very overcooked (we had asked for medium rare and got two well-done), however after a comment we were offered a replacement and offered one of the meals comp. The quince parfait dessert was also particularly memorable. The coffee is absolutely dreadful - stick to their leaf teas. Also the service, from waiting 5min in an empty restaurant to be seated (being ignored by waitstaff who were busy chatting to eachother), to having to go to the counter after 15min of waiting for the bill, was a bit subpar. But the food is worth it!!

Having been to a large number of Yarra Valley wineries, I think this would have to be one of the best - highly recommended.
Epicurean Disaster
Fine fare! Beautiful local produce and perfectly cooked. We'll be back. Try the lamb and beef with Cabernet Sauvignon. ;-)

Absolutely beautiful.. Don't know why this Yarra Valley gem doesn't get as much attention as some others. Had a beautiful meal here from the oysters to the mains (salmon with Balmain bug) to the pitch-perfect mandarin creme brulee. All the flavours were delicate and beautiful - and much of the produce was local. It was pricey - but special enough to warrant it.

Smoked scallop and celeriac soup with Jamon Serrano. Wasn't feeling that hungry and not really a soup person but thought I'd give it a try. This has to be the nicest soup I think I've had ever. It totally blew me away.
The plate arrives with the scallops and jamon and as soon as the plate hits the table, the smokey flavour wafts towards you. The celeriac soup is then poured over and more heavenly scents. The texture of the soup is silken, beautifully balanced against the jamon and the firm scallops.
I could have eaten it all day and would love the recipe.
Amazing.

Put simply, blown away by the food the first time we ate there. For entree, we had the mushroom minestrone (found out later the chef had hand picked the wild shrooms) and the venicine tartare. Both dishes tasted ad good as itlooked. For mains we tried the steak and barramundi- more on the fish later. Cannot say enough about the quality of the produce and the fish cooked to perfection-crispy skin and nice soft flesh. Decision made,we are having our wedding here. I don't think you will find another place in Melbourne that can server 80 ala carte meals in a wedding! On the day of the wedding, all guests were treated to food of the highest quality all served in a timely manner. I had the duck and morton bay bugs as entree. Both 9/10. Most of the guests had the fish and was raving about it for days. The staff were efficient, accommodating and courteus. Restaurants modern and bright with glass walls. And last but not least, if you are not driving, try the sparkling(highly recommended), shiraz and pinot.

Lunch at the MandalaWinery in the Yarra Valley was surprising on many fronts. The white wines were exceptional and the food showed fine dining quality prepared with unmistakable valley produce.
