Seriously always go to this restaurant and they never fail to put me in a food coma, however still want to continue eating. The food is amazing, perfectly marinated meat, pork and chicken. Food cooks quickly with the help of the lovely staff. Purple rice is a perfect sticky texture and so delicious. Perfect crispy chicken, if you come here and don’t eat an entire serving of Korean fried chicken and smother it in honey mustard then please don’t speak to me thanks. The best the best love this place! My go to.
We love this place! We ordered 5 different meats and all of them were high quality and delicious. Originally we wanted to order a la carte, then the manager helpfully told us that it would be more value for money to order a set meal. We also got the tofu soup which was spicy and delicious and the fried chicken was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The side dishes were awesome too. The staff were so friendly and they cooked the meats for us in good time. We had a great time and will be back.
hands down best KBBQ in the east, maybe even all of Melbourne. cheaper than most of the CBD KBBQ offerings, without any compromise in quality. For food, we ordered a pork set, beef rib fingers & a full boneless chicken to share between 4 people which only came down to ~$110. Waiter/Waitresses extremely attentive and they'll come to your table to cook the meat for you so you and your crew can focus on smashing down sojus. book ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
I still think this place is the best KBBQ in melbourne, and I have recommended it to everyone.
Firstly the bbq itself is hot enough + uses charcoal to grill the meats (which I believe is a must for good KBBQ). The quality of the meats is very good, my favourites being the beef belly and the rib fingers.
Now what sets this place apart is that their dishes apart from their BBQ is also very delicious. Hands down the best korean fried chicken, so crispy and flavorsome and I am yet to find a better fried chicken. The dipping sauces I could drink. I must also say their japchae is one of the best also.
Banchan is also very nice and generous and they're happy to refill it for you at your request.
Finally I think service is quite good, the boss is also super friendly. Although I do think when its not that busy you get 3-4 different people coming over to your BBQ to flip the meats every couple of seconds, which is unnecessary (maybe more communication between staff).
BEST KBBQ TRUST ME. Kbbq isn't cheap and at first glance the price seems expensive, but im a regular customer and the bill has worked out extremely reasonable everytime.
Our go to local for korean cuisine. We have ordered ready-cooked meals off the menu as well as the traditional korean bbq. Both times we had good experience. Standout dishes are the bibimbap, kimchi soup and the cold noodles.
Before this KBBQ restaurant opened up here, I used to have to travel into the CBD to enjoy a nice Korran BBQ. Service is great, food is delicious, highly recommend.
Needs booking at times but overall was good.
Had first dinner experience here tonight. Everything was delicious. The staff was wonderful. Really amazing!
Scotch fillet and pork ribs was delicious. Korean fried chicken is crunchy and well fried. Spicy tofu pork soup was lovely.
The price of food is resonable.
Staff service was friendly and helpful.
Recommended to all and I will definitely be back again.
The food and service is constantly great here. I have returned many times and am never disappointed with the food or service I receive. The combination a set & the fried chicken are two of my favourite items on the menu - they're delicious!
Am returning again this weekend and am very excited every time I visit
We have visited BBQ-K numerous times and food has been delicious every time. We normally order the Angus beef set which comes with rice and a soup as well. Service is always quick and attentive. The wait staff help us grill all our meats and place them on the side of the grill when it's done. I also enjoy their spicy seafood soup which packs a punch. The side dishes are also nice and refillable.
I seem to fall in love with this place more and more with each subsequent visit! It's always super busy and the noise plus sizzle from the BBQ just adds to the fun atmosphere. Staff members were constantly milling around to help with the cooking.
We visited on a Saturday night and people without a booking were being turned away by the droves. We ordered a selection of meats plus the all important fried chicken. The marinated meats were well seasoned and went down well with the lovely purple rice. The wagyu beef was very tender and the soups were perfect for a cold wintry night.
They should sell t-shirts saying "I love BBQ-K!" I'd buy one.
Previously:
This place is always buzzing! Love the wagyu beef set and boneless fried chicken (sorry, no pic because we devoured it the moment it arrived onto our table). Service is efficient and sometimes they do let you know you have to leave at a certain time because of another booking but that's ok. The food comes out very quickly so it's not a big deal. There aren't as many side dishes as other Korean BBQ joints. Their cold noodles are fantastic. See you again soon BBQ K!
Fresh and tasty food is always delicious here. Boneless fried chicken is a great starter. Thinly sliced wagyu is brilliant. Have been back a few times. Only thing that’s a little disappointing is the service.
Came by in a group of 5. The service was speedy, and they helped us cooked the meats. The japchae and the seafood pancake were pretty good. We had various cuts of beef and pork belly for the bbq. It was delicious, the marinades and sauces were tasty. The meats were juicy and tender. The banchan were ok. It was nice that they gave two sets of the side dishes so that everyone could reach them, but when we requested a refill they returned with one set and placed it on one side of the grill far out of reach from those seated on the other side..
The restaurant was well ventilated and no where as smoky as some other Korean Bbq joints. A bit on the pricier side, but the quality of the meats was definitely worth it.
Regular customer, I go atleast once a month when I crave korean. 7/10 times the customer service is great but you’ll occasionally get the bad service. When you go without booking they will rush you to eat and leave (even though they gave us 1.5hrs, they make you finish in 40min). Over all the meat quality is great and they arent skimpy with the side dishes! They have the best marinated ribs!
We ordered the pork bbq set for 59 and it was a good serving for 2 people. We finished it all and felt very satisfied. The meat was very good and tasty. The waiting staff were always en point to cook the meat and always turning it for us.
Service was quick and friendly. It was very reasonable for a filling lunch.
I will definitely come back.
A little bit of the pricier side for Korean bbq but a great meal nevertheless. The pork set + an additional beef is perfect for 2 people. The meat is all very fresh and flavoursome and sides are delicious. Only downfall would be that the staff tend to rush you into your meal, as it is charcoal grilled and they need to get everything cooked before the charcoal cools down.
Korean BBQ!
The place is quite spacious, well lit and not as smoky as some places. The staffs were friendly though some food took a while to come out. On the table were 4 dipping condiments.
The wagyu set was enjoyable, especially the scotch fillet as it was melt in yer mouth. The flap tail was okay, bit tough but the bulgogi was well marinated and soft, generous too. With it we had dwaenjang jiggae (soybean paste soup) which was quite good in terms of flavor and portion.
The japchae was one of the best I've had, noodle texture was chewy and seafood was quite generous, of course flavor was on point.
Garden salad was really yummy and refreshing, good portion with mushrooms, tomatoes, greens and honey mustard sauce.
Purple rice was great because it was slightly more textured than white rice. Also enjoyed the side dishes which were macaronis, kimchi, beansprouts, and pickled onion, all great. Plus, they provide each side of the table a set of side dishes.
Lastly, beef bibimbap was pretty yum, good portion and beef bulgogi was well marinated, fresh veggies too.
Overall a great joint for KBBQ with reasonable prices and good service, though they can improve on the speed of food being served.
( follow for more!✨)
xx,joelle.
The service is great and the food is delicious, we order the fried chicken I love the dipping sauce , the soy bean soup was nice too , xo tongue was bit tough was a bit disappointed.
Overall is a good place to have the korean bbq and catch up with friends , will come back to try the other dishes next time .
Charcoal fire, Fresh good quality meat, and very tasty purple rice!! Service is also very good, one of the few Korean bbq places in melb where servers helps with cooking the meat!!
Simply amazing ! If I had to choose one restuarant to go for the rest of my life I would choose kbbq. Exceptional food !! My favourites is the vegetable pancake, boneless fried chicken and their wagyu scotch fillet. Great service too.. staff are switched on and cook it for you which is great.
Great food... it was an amazing experience. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. The kids enjoyed watching their meal being cooked. Great service
Been here twice now and I can’t wait till I can go back. The atmosphere is great for socialising and the staff are super friendly and check on your regularly. I would definitely recommend booking a table for dinner service as it can be packed. The set BBQ menus are good value for money (compared to other places). All of the meats had lots of flavour and tasted like they were good quality. The side dishes were amazing, especially the kimchi and the onion one, and it had unlimited refills.
BBQ-K is always super busy. If you’re like us, spontaneous, please don’t bother coming here without a booking (at night that is) because it’s always super packed and you either get turned down and rejected or you have to have to come back a couple hours later (happened to us twice). In saying so, we were hungry on a Monday avo around 4:30pm/5:00pm so we decided to come here without a booking (lol) and try our luck. There were a couple of people in there but the staff said we have to be out there at 6:00pm (doesn’t bother us, we’re fast eaters!)
They have a variety of different meats and we decided to go with the scotch fillet, oyster blade and boneless ribs. I really enjoyed the oyster blade and boneless ribs. They were both very flavoursome and had just the perfect amount of fat. The scotch fillet was slight dry and tough however I think if it was cooked less it would of been tender. Also, the size of the meat here is really decent. It ranges from 180g to 550g! Which is a lot more than other Korean BBQ places. I really enjoyed the sides they have here as well, especially the coleslaw and the kimchi! - probably one of my favourite sides that I’ve tried at Korean restaurant.
One thing that I didn’t enjoy was the service. Yes they cooked your meat for you but other than that, they were so rushed and had no patience. They would slam the meat on our table and just rush off. Or speak extremely fast or do 3883 things at once. Like relaxx please. I felt very uncomfortable asking them for anything. Don’t get me wrong, everyone loves good fast service but this was extremely fast/aggressive that it came off as rude.
Overall, besides the service, the food was actually really nice! I enjoyed the quality of the meat, the sides and the sauces. I would defs recommend this place!
After countless failed times trying to get in to BBQ-K, we finally managed to score a table on a Monday night and we weren’t disappointed! Seriously one of the best k-bbqs we’ve had around town, and we can definitely see why it’s always booked out!
We had the pork set for 2 people, and added on an extra fried chicken and bong bong (grape drink) - although the set is definitely enough to feed 2! The fried chicken was perfectly cooked - so tender and juicy, and the coating was super crispy!
The BBQ set was plentiful, and the waiters cook the meat for you too! The soup was delicious and perfect with river
Definitely recommend checking this place out! But remember to book as it gets very busy during peak times!
This place is always busy, a good thing we made a booking or else we would be on the queue. We ordered the pork set for two which included pork belly, spicy pork belly and marinated pork neck, two bowl of purple rice and a side of the traditional kimchi silken tofu soup seafood. The staff would come to cook and check on the meat every few minutes or so which was great! We also ordered kimchi seafood pancake and it was amazing, very flavor-some and crispy. We had such a great dinner! 👌
One of my picks of the night, aside from the BBQ pork belly was the seafood pancake, pajeon. It satisfyingly reached the borders of the plate; crispy, and came with a soy based dipping sauce. It was thinner than the Japanese styled pancakes but more loaded with julienne vegetables and nuggets of seafood. Whilst technically an entree, I could eat one or two, as a main.
BBQ-K is a delicious Korean BBQ destination. Whilst not exactly a cheap eats, food was of high quality. I will definitely return.
Visited on Chinese New Year despite not booking - we were lucky to grab a table.
Highlights: I would say this is your standard K-BBQ experience, but there were highlights! The wagyu was incredibly delicious, the sauces complemented the meat well. We also found that the kimchi soup had one of the strongest kimchi flavours we’ve ever had (apart from the one we cook at home), so we were quite pleased with it.
Letdowns: However, do be aware and active in the cooking of your meat if you are opting for K-BBQ. The staff were quite negligent with the cooking of our meat as the night progressed, so by the time we got to the marinated pork, our meat was left to burn. I would say over half of the pork was burnt to a solid inedible black. We shrugged the incident aside as honestly, the marinated pork was tough and not that nice. Just don’t rely too much on the staff to cook your meat!
Real rating: 4.5
As a local in Doncaster, I am really fortunate to have a K-BBQ joint, or should I say BBQ-K that is of superb standard and quality. I have been here numerous times and their bbq never fails to disappoint. Quality of meat is great and the staff is attentive and looks after you particularly well, which many korean restaurants here fail to accompany. This is great for people especially if they are first-timers. I’ve also had their fried chicken and korean army stew (Buddae Jigae) and I find these to be a treat to eat too.
What a nice little Korean joint in Doncaster! Really satisfied my cravings. Kimchi soup was delicious, not too spicy though. Waiters were very nice and attentive. Generous amount of side dishes! Highly recommend!
Loved it! Food was great and the staff are all lovely and very friendly :) they took a last minute booking after our booking somewhere else fell through. A great atmosphere! Thanks for making our anniversary special!
Wheelchair accessible. Accessible bathroom available.
We had never been to a Korean BBQ before. Loved that they cooked for you so everything was cooked so tenderly!
Great value for money.
We'll be back!
Awesome local kbbq joint. Prices slightly higher than others but meat was super fresh and tasty. Definitely would come back. Ordered the pork set and in addition the beef bulgogi, and also noodles.
We stumbled upon this place last weekend. The place was bustling and we didn’t have a booking, but we were lucky we only had to wait for 15 minutes for a table. We got the fried spring onion which was yummy. The highlight was the marinated pork neck which was mouth watering. We also really enjoyed the oyster blade! We got the spicy pork belly which was average. The service was friendly and fast. Would definitely come back!
First... make a booking!!!
Ordered:
-------------------
1. Wagyu Set:
- 3 meats - All 3 of the meats were amazing. It is pricier so would go back to try the regular set to taste the difference.
- Soup - You can choose your own. We chose the Spicy Seafood Tofu, which was nice
- Complimentary sides - Good
- Rice - I like that they used Korean black/purple rice
Servers were very attentive and nice. Place gets fully booked very easily so always make a booking. Lots of parking in the lots to the left and right of the restaurant.
I truly love this place! I've been so excited since they replaced this space with a korean bbq restaurant. I usually have to go towards the city for better korean bbq. But since this place appeared, I have not gone anywhere else, purely due to convenience and great food of course.
Their meat is not only tender and fresh, even their a la carte menu (such as their stew, korean fried chicken, side dishes, savoury pancakes) are fantastic!
Their wagyu/beef is at a reasonable price, with quality grading. Their rice is not your normal rice, but it's black (purple) glutinous rice. Not often do you see people commenting about the rice for a review, but I must say the black rice just adds the extra half a star for me.
My go to stew is the kimchi stew, you can really taste the thickness and you can tell they've probably been boiling the stew for a while. It's just so good! Their KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) is tender & crispy, and to top it off, they give you not just 1 but 3 selection of sauces to go with your chicken, so you can try them all!
Their service is pretty prompt as well, just every now and then (especially when they're busy) you may have to remind the waiters what you asked for
Bet you're hungry now!
We ordered the bbq set for 2-3 people and all the meat was really good quality and delicious 👌🏼 I especially loved the pork belly however the only thing I didn’t like was that the waitress kept touching the raw meat with the cooked meat 😫 veg bibimbap was very tasty as well 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Terrific Korean place, we ordered the premium selection of food which just kept coming and coming. Pork belly, wagyu you name it we ate it. Would recommend getting the premium selection of food.
Absolutely wonderful experience. Made a booking and were promptly seated. Thank goodness, because even though it was a Tuesday evening, they were packed with customers! We came as a group of 4 for a birthday celebration. We ordered the Wagyu beef set (came with our choice of Silken Tofu soup), with extra pork belly and pork back ribs, a seafood pancake and extra rice. Definitely plenty for four people! The meat was delicious - really fresh, and the marinades were super tasty. The best thing was that the staff were very attentive. They cooked all our meats for us and changed our grill plates, even though the place was super full with customers. Thank you to the staff! We had our side dishes refilled several times, and even our sauces refilled. Will definitely return in future for more! Thank you for a great night!
Value was on point and don’t get me started with the chicken! Amazing! Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside! Waiters are extremely attentive to tables, and we left the restaurant without any barbecue scent on our clothes!
First time having Korean BBQ. Great experience. Friendly staff who were very attentive. Boneless Korean Fried Chicken BOMB!! New fav local, yeww.
What a fantastic restaurant. Wonderful to sit and your dinner cooked in front of you. The staff and owner are very friendly and helpful. Definitively recommend this restaurant.
I have eaten here a number of times and I love the fast service and also the whole Korean bbq concept gets me everytime the food quality is great and the banquet range is such a good option if you are finding it hard to chose a dish this gives you the option of trying afew dishes.
Very clean and cosy place.
Love this place and will continue to go back
Very good food, beef is very tender, seafood is also very fresh, all kinds of side dishes are very delicious, friendly staff, the process of roasting is very good, the children are very fond of dessert, the service is in place, all like it
Visited for a family Sunday lunch. Nice clean setting with service to match. Menu was good value and quality meat on offer. The kimchi soup was especially nice!
Food is good here - we had the Korean BBQ. Ordered the Angus beef steak, pork bulgogi, assorted mushrooms, Kimchi pancake and Kimchi soup. Service is good - they cook everything in front of you, and also replace the grill often to keep the BBQ free of burnt bits. The charcoal they use gives a great aroma to the food. Love the cosy and private booths.
Come here few times for bbq , first time order seafood (prawns, crabs , mussels, mushrooms , squids ) & vegetables spicy broth . It’s so Delicious 😋 and reasonable price .
Amazing staff amazing food. My husband and i are loyal customers, we visit twice a week the manager knows us coz were there very often!! thats how much we love the food there. Very tidy and clean more reasons for you to visit the place, and most important they doesnt over charge customers highly recomended. 👍👍👍
This is my second visit tonight with a friend of mine. My first visit was extremely disappointing however times have changed.
The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and very understanding. They helped us with food grilling from the start until the very end. The owners were very kind and attentive to all customers.
Food, omg. I’m speechless. Take a look at my photos, all the food was absolutely beautiful. The chicken was very crunchy and not oily at all! The army soup was one of my facilities! Spicy and hot with generous toppings.
Extremely happy with the pricing of foods, the taste of each dish and the customer service. 5 stars.
Will be back!
We were a party of 4 and we Byo wines. We ordered bbq Angus set for 2, beef hot stone bibimbap, half fried chicken & seafood kimchi pancakes. They were all delicious and the standout was the pancake, best I had so far. The charcoal bbq arguably provided a more flavoursome bbq meat than gas. The sauces provided were pretty standard for the bbq. We asked for extra freshly cut chillies and they happily obliged. 3 sauces were provided for the fried chicken. Some places provided one sauce of your choice whilst others required extra charge for the sauce. The service was very attentive and pleasant. The staff constantly asked us whether we would like them to start cooking the remaining meats. We appreciated that every much as it gave us a chance for us to chow on the other non-bbq items and enjoying our wines at the same time. We even asked them to pace our orders but unfortunately we were told it was possible. We didn’t smell too much of a bbq pit. If you feel you do they do provide a Febreeze spray which you can use on your clothes on the way out. We will definitely return.
Enthusiastic staff that cook your bbq for you! All the meats were cooked perfectly, atmosphere was great. Most importantly everything tasted great! We got the wagyu set, pork set and Kim chi pancake and fried chicken. This was more than enough for 5 people.
Good local Korean bbq restaurant. Food is tasty and service is good too. We enjoyed the experience of Korean bbq and it’s great to have a restaurant like this in Doncaster.
Local fave, literally around the corner from where we live. Trust me it doesn’t disappoint! I’m pretty particular with my stews especially spending more than half of my life in the east coast of the U.S.
People in the east coast know their soon doo boo and Gamjatang, I haven’t found the one that matches my Jong Ka Jib (sniff this place is a legend).
Ok back to BBQ-K, their meat is good and flavourful which is good, nobody wants bland meat. A few things that I could suggest would probably be: more banchan, introduce the use of lettuce with gochujang with the meat and steamed eggs. These will enhance the overall experience IMO.
On to the good stuff, the pajeon is good and the stew that comes with the meat combo is actually really good (nothing compares to my previous Jong Ka Jib) but it’s pretty flavourful and hit the spot.
KFC looks like a regular southern style fried chicken unlike the ones I’m used to with a lighter batter but then again everybody has their own recipe. Their KFC came with pickled radish which is a must (for me at least).
I’ve tried 2 other korean places in the area (not gonna name names) but by far this is superior. It’s not NYC k-town bbq or L.A. Koreatown yet I’ve been coming back to this place. For a Korean food snob I think that says something. Go and give this place a try, the owner is sweet and helpful.
Really nice food, the Korean fried chicken, soup, jap jae, and BBQ meats are all very tasty and enjoyable! The service is variable, it can be really good or average. We do enjoy the good though, one of the nicer Korean restaurant in Melbourne
Great place and awesome owners and staff. Come here on a regular basis and always deserved the right service, sometimes they can be a bit slow but everything works out fine.
Went here for the first time, it was packed, yet the man managed to get us a seat. The food was delicious! The pork belly becomes so crispy when bbq-ed. The fried chicken was delicious as well. Friendly staff, especially the in-house gentleman at the front. Has a long queue - will book ahead next time. Great ambience too!
Sept 2018: Had a visit at the restaurant, decided not to eat the bbq..their cooked food are still very good, my clothes are not drenched with the bbq smell, still managable. I will definately go again.
April 2018:A nice night in with the girls, one of my girlfriends suggested this wonderful restaurant for a take away. A wise choice because if you don't want your clothes smelling liked bbq meat. The fried Japchae was great, seafood pancake was well done, and the fried chickens come in 3 different sauces..great for sharing. There side dishes are so yummy too. Overall everything is great. If you are in the area and craving for Korean. Go to Bbq K, make sure u call them in advance. Cost us around $16-$20 per person for the takeaway and we are soooo full.
Weather - A chilly cold Autumn’s day craving some comfort and warmth
Food - We went with the BBQ set for two with soy bean soup and added in a serving of Pork Belly
The meat was juicy, tender and flavoursome and the soup was refreshing and not salty at all however, our grill was not changed as it got quite burnt as the night went on which imparted a slightly burnt taste to the meat.
Service and Decor - Service was prompt and the uncle at the door was very friendly and attentive even thou it was pretty busy
The decor was quite modern and aesthetically pleasing
• The Hungry Nugget •
very good food and great customer service. The waiter isn't Korean and knows everything and recommend good dishes. The food is fresh and amazing
My favorite korea food in Australia, beef and cold noodle really good ,all the food really traditional, and also the boss is so good and cute !haha
The food was very yummy and it does not make me hot like other bbq. The seafood soup was not overly spicy and suits me just right. I love the bbq pork belly, which is cripsy and tender. Just the right mix
Ambience: 4.5/5
Food:4/5
Staff:3.5/5
Will I return: Maybe if I was in the area
Came here labour day for lunch with family. The restaurant is clean and nicely fitted out for Korean bbq. Throughout our whole 1.5 hours that we were there, not one staff member smiled at us or any other customer as far as we could see. They were quick to serve our food and helped us bbq our meat but they looked like they didn’t want to be there. The did not talk to us or explain as to what they were going to do, even when bringing the hot charcoal to the table, I had to tell warn my partner that it was coming from behind and to stay away while they put in on our table.
The meat were fresh and tender but the portion size is really small. The seafood pancake was one of the best I’ve had at a Korean restaurant in Melbourne. However, the price is not the cheapest either.
The experience would’ve been made better if the staff were more friendly.
We ventured out to this new eatery thats apparently been open since Sep 2017.
It used to be a Aus post office and from the outside looks pretty inconspicuous. However when you enter you notice its nice fit out and the table top grills look good.
We ordered a range of dishes ranging from entrees to mains as well as bibimbap and a few bbq options. We particularly liked the korean chicken dish which seems to be gaining traction in melbourne
Service was good, they even came and cooked our meat for us which was a nice service.
All the food was very tasty and couldnt fault it. Probably up there in my experience of korean bbq.
It would have been nice for the waitress let us know we over ordered as we ordered way to much.
Price wise i feel its a bit overpriced hence i would have given a 5 star review. Eg. $6 for tea is a bit expensive. Our meal came out at just over $50 per head
Maybe you guys could come up with some lunch specials ad i believe your lunch and dinner menus are the same
Being quite literally one of two Korean restaurants in the area, and the only one offering KBBQ, their efforts aren't that bad at all. In terms of price, it is pretty much the same and their offerings are on par to their city rivals. We tried the beef set for 2 people with kimchi soup, original Korean fried chicken, kimchijeon (kimchi pancake), tteokkbokki (rice cake) and a salad for some relief.
Overall I quite enjoyed it, the kimchijeon was standard and quite generous in portions and the rice cake was pretty yum too. You can't go wrong with any fried chicken and they did it well, I would've loved some radish and mustard on the side though. BBQ itself was yum, although our selection only had pork, and pork is always delicious. Service wasn't bad although I think some of the servers we had were in training as they didn't react instinctively and had to be instructed sometimes. Within the next few months or in a couple of years, it might just improve with time, but it's not a bad spot to fix your BBQ craving in this side of town!
