Review Papparich Doncaster - Doncaster

Lily Gorjan
Used to love Paparich QV, but since pandemic and lockdown, Doncaster is the one that I visited frequently. I think there has been inconsistency the way how they cooked. Sometimes it tastes good, another time is not. Not sure it is different chef or something else.

Ordered Pan Mee Soup , ended up received rice noodles 🙄🙄🙄 Disappointed. Cashier service need to improve! Asked for extra chilli that cost $2 , she didn’t charge me then I confirm with her again the chilli that I wanted. Ended up didn’t give it .. are you serious 😒

Staff are dinterested in their job, Two Asian female staff more interested in having a chat amongst each other. Portion size of meal has decreased. Thanks to Papa Rich staff I will try something different from now on which I don't normally do!!

Ordered Hainanese Chicken rice eat in. Got it in a takeaway portion. The chicken was OK but the bean shoots tasted a bit off. Didn't particularly like the chilli sauce too. Probably not go for their chicken rice in the near future unless I have no other options or they decide to serve fresh bean shoots and improve on their chilli sauce.

I don't think they really know Malaysian food, when i am in Malaysia, the roti canai only took 5 minutes, but they need to take 25 mins to do just 2 roti while there is no other customers. Unprofessional.
Lia M
Very disappointed! Ordered take away and waiting for nearly half hour for a serve of prawn mee and a drink, and when I got home, open the container, it wasn’t even my order!! Instead of the prawn mee, they gave me a bowl of noddle with smelly dry fish. The whole store is such a chaos.

More interested in preparing food for delivery services than customers standing in front of them. Got a refund after waiting ages for food while delivery orders got priority.

Good food good service always go there.

This restaurant is now closed. The contact number must be another restaurant because they took my booking but it is not at this address. The outlet at the shopping centre is not a restaurant.
Willtravelforfood17
The dish that is always consistent and good is the crispy egg noodles. The portion is generous and the egg gravy over crispy noodles is delicious. The other dish that I like is the special nasi goreng. The fried chicken leg is well-seasoned, is crispy and juicy. The fried rice is also tasty and as usual, the portion is large.

Had a great lunch here with my dearest colleagues after a tired job. Milk tea was exactly what I love, not too sweet or milky. It was the first time to know how a cup of barley to be and hope it could help my colleague to resist his pimples.

Being a regular customer over last few years, I just remember the price for this place is going up, up & up, but the quality is going down, down & down. Now meals show up within minute after ordering and doesn't even taste fresh - cucumber is so dry & chicken tastes like rubber. In recent months, we only visit this place when other Malaysian places nearby are closed.<br/><br/>However, tonight will be our last visit due to the appalling service received. We have a young toddler and my wife always clean up the mess every time we dine out. All rubbishes are wrapped in a nappy plastic bag and left on the table. Guess what the waitress (or I think she might be the owner) told us today: "Hey, you left your son's nappy on the table!" After explaining it's just rubbish, she is still very grumpy. What is she even thinking? Why would anyone change a nappy in a public restaurant on a table? Or does she think someone will carry the nappy from the parent room and to a table that they will eat from?? OK, fine... even someone is so gross that will do that, what would you expect the customer to say when you tell him 'Hey, you left your son's nappy on the table!' Just unbelievable!!

In all honesty, food quality and quantity has dropped in the few years. Restaurants is waited by a lot of young in experienced staff. I ordered nasi goreng which came out normal fried rice (didn’t taste like the Malaysian Indonesian version). And the chicken Maryland which was over cooked and dry. The roti was good as always.<br/>

Pretty average experience. <br/>Have been to various locations so I know the food very well. Can’t say the food was all that wow on this occasion, and staff weren’t that welcoming. The place was as loud and busy as ever, with servings being small for the price.

Although their food tastes authentic, there’s nothing super special about it and their prices have slowly risen over the years but their chaotic service seems to be the same. I had the Ipoh kuey teow soup this time with a serve of chicken on the side (the prawn only comes with shredded chicken and I didn’t feel like it was worth the money). Overall it was good, chicken tasted fresh and was boneless, soup could have had more body but it was an ample serving for one. I also had a Bandung drink with grass jelly but couldn’t really justify paying $6 but glad it was just an ice slushie. <br/>There is always a wait for this location though - also because they’ve closed off the first half of the restaurant.

Papparich is a trusty neighbourhood restaurant where you know that both you, your dining partners and your wallet walk out full and happy. The menu is extensive, true to its Malaysian origins and the price is fair. The menu also features small plates to add on to your main rice/noodle dish which is perfect for sharing.<br/><br/>We ordered a Roti which comes with various sauces, a beef rendang and deep fried chicken skin. The service was speedy, not quite memorable but pleasant. <br/><br/>Papparich is a go-to casual staple.
Sunny Days Melbourne
Papparich never disappoints! The food is consistently good. They have the best nasi briyani and red chicken in town. Their roti is made to order so it's always fresh, crispy and full of flavour. Just like the mamak stalls from Malaysia. We've been to a few other papparich restaurants but the Doncaster branch is superior to the others for consistency, serving size and atmosphere.

Papparich at Doncaster. Nice place to park and dine in for lunch. Like the lunch menu with fine Malaysian cuisines. Deep fried chicken rice was nice.
TimInMelb
although it's a chain store, the food here never disappoints - fantastic tasting and unique Malaysian/Singaporean food. the staff are friendly and I like this restaurant in particular as it has a small kids playground. the food is ok value.. not too expensive, but not too expensive. my recommendation is the fried pancake with vanilla bean ice-cream, a a spicy nasi lemak.. with extra chilli paste of course!
Starswerebright
Not amazing but definitely delicious for the price. Would recommend if you’re in the mood for a quick and relaxed meal. Has a children’s play area.

To be honest food is average, we only go here because it’s local. Went here for lunch and had to wait 20 mins for the steam buns with butter and kaya, which is ridiculous, had to ask that they check up on the order. clearly they forgot to place the order to the kitchen. Won’t be visiting this place again unless last option.
Gee
The servings here were huge! Went the special nasi lemak with prawn sambal and a roti canai on the side. Food isn’t top notch quality but it’s tasty and the prices are good for the serving size.
Ilovefoodsomuch
Big restaurant with plenty of parking perfect for family dinners đŸ‘©â€đŸ‘©â€đŸ‘§â€đŸ‘Š. The food is consistent with any of the papparich which isn’t a bad thing. There is an outdoor area but it doesn’t allow smoking...
The Fatty Report
Saltiest food in the East. <br/>Ordered the laksa and ended up drinking 4L of water by midnight.<br/>Asked for extra chill sauce and was told to pay and extra few dollars.<br/>Yeah.... NAH

Usually I go to pappaRich in Melbourne city QV, this time I went to PappaRich Doncaster ,but really disappointed!! We had Fried chicken rice, the chicken are over cooked, chewy and dry. Also I had the fish head noodles soup, totally different than i tried in QV, small portions, no going back!
Brian With The Y
I always come here just to order the beef rendang with the iced teh tarik and sometimes an extra sambal sauce. The customer service was friendly and nice every visit. This time the beef rendang was very soft and tender unlike like last time which was dry and tough.
Shizuko
Lychee soda with curry chicken roti! Nice day start from papparich in Doncaster Westfield. Yummy large size chicken steak with iced drink, plentiful in summer.

Rating Doncaster branch. <br/>Used to be much better. There is not enough “Wok Hei” fragrance in the charkuayteow. Satay needs slightly more grilling to have charcoal flavour. N11 is too sweet. Please reduce sugar content. M’sian food is not suppose to be so sweet. <br/>Overall, it’s ok and average for M’sian food. <br/>It was better 3 yrs ago. It has slipped. <br/>Also the whole restaurant smells of stale oily residue. They need to service or upgrade their clogged up range hood. I returned home smelling like used cooking oil. Had to have shower. <br/>We will only go back if we had no other choice.<br/>Follow up:<br/>Went back to PappaRich Doncaster tonight -15June 2018. Chicken Rice was authentic and delicious. CharkoayTeow was good too. But...chicken satay was sinfully deep fried first then lightly charred on the grill. That is the biggest NO-NO to do to a satay. You put yourself in the class of the “wannabe” Malaysian Restaurants which don’t know how to cook a good satay. A satay should be charcoal grilled from start to end. Don’t try to speed up the cooking process by frying it. It so obvious in taste and looks. DISAPPOINTED. Satay chef should be reprimanded.
Salim Haveliwala
Delicious. Authentic Malaysian food. Polite service. Good seating. Satay beef, and all the must trys on the first page of the menu and worth a try. Definitely visit this place is in the mood for yummy Malay food.
Felix The Cat
Food very overpriced for Malaysian food. Not exactly authentic, but the flavours are nice. Service is average, but is what is expected being a franchise.
The Gastronaut
Paparich never fails to impress. The menu is very well designed and the ordering system is cool. The staff is friendly and the service is great!
Ramskil Thomas
Food is always good they just seem to lacking with good service and the details like listening and answering questions it's clear they don't have product knowledge
TheChip
Must: Try the selection of curry dishes on offer, especially sambal beef and the crisp roti. The drinks selection is also impressive. Try the lychee soda.<br/><br/>Skip: Service can sometimes be a little slow, but it is always worth the wait!

I recently contacted papparich Australia and they said almost all of the "vegetarian" options contain fish in the sauces. This is false advertising, fish is not vegetarian. They also use coffeemate, a SO CALLED non dairy creamer in their drinks but only the base is non dairy, it still contains milk products. They told me this was vegan. Again FALSE ADVERTISING. I will never eat here until they clean up their misleading menu. Fish is a serious allergen for some people and milk can give people really bad tummy troubles. Disgusting.
Mel
Malaysian hawker food almost in a 'fast food chain' approach. Good variety of options and the open kitchen is great fun for the kids to watch the chef flipping the rotis, as is the kids' area with playground. A good, solid family restaurant. On the pricey side for what it is, but goos reliability and consistency of the food and service. Our favorites are the roti options, biryani and chili pan mee - and if we're going all out, the fried chicken skin (!!) - all washed down with one of the authentic hawker drinks (soy bean, grass jelly, bandung, etc).
Khyati Raval
I have been dining at pappa rich for well over 4 years now. Their quality of food has declined over the years! Dishes lack seasoning and punch, presentation of dishes lack love, menu lacks choices specially for vegetarian people. Prices are bit on dearer side for food you get. They serve big portion sizes but food lacking seasoning and love - how much can one eat. Their restaurant is very busy and gets very noisy - if you are looking for a fine dining experience or even a decent dining experience u won't get it here. Staff are very robotic (may be due to how busy the place gets)
Piggyeatalot
Paparich is kinda a hit and miss this time. I ordered the chicken rice noodle soup and the rice noodles were so gluggy. The chicken was tender and flavourful though.<br/><br/>I really love their chicken satay too.
Sash
Paparich Doncaster is continently located just a short distance away from Westfield Doncaster. There are ample parking spaces so less struggles when you are hungry 😀<br/>With Papparich chain of restaurants, the best thing is that you know what you are getting, unless you haven't been to any before. <br/>Its always busy but ambience is friendly and straightway you will get a feel of of a seriously busy restaurant. You may have to wait to be seated on weekends, but trust me its worth the wait. <br/>Today we ordered - 'Seafood Curry Laksa', 'Crispy Fried Chicken Noodles' and 'Choco & vanilla Ice cream'. Curry Laksa was one of the best that I recently had and served me well on a very cold wintery Melbourne day.<br/><br/>I wish the customer service was a tad better..!!
CafeChick
Prices have gone up for the same average taste & serving sizes. The price for a curry fish noodle soup is now about $20! Atmosphere is relaxing and relatively pleasant though.
Melbourne Culinary
Although when I first started dining at PappaRich they were still a relatively unknown name in Melbourne, they are now the largest and best known Malaysian chain restaurant in Melbourne. PappaRich specialises in a variety of Malaysian cuisine favourites, ranging from snacks to their special toasts, as well as many noodle and rice dishes.
Kkk
When u ordered take away for hainanese chicken and it only came with 5 pieces of chicken..... each piece worth for $2, good job paparich, never gonna comeback again
Flytonewyork
Pretty average quality food here, with a lack of the bold and satisfying flavours you'd be used to in Malaysian cuisine. Obviously has no points in the health department, but for that kind of cheat day you'd hope that your hainanese chicken had the right sauces, and the laksa would be more tasty. Prices aren't really cheap for what you're buying either. The $2 milk tea combo is pretty good value though
Tom Hill
Great place to sample some Malysian quisine, always reminds me of my trips to South east Asia. To me the dishes seem quite right in regard to taste, menu is a bit limited though. My favourite is the curry laksa which is awesome !
Luke Blythman
Honestly I have held a grudge for Pappa Rich for sometime now. Not only do I feel this is unauthentic and poorly prepared Malaysian food but it is also barely edible.
Blueberrypie
Came for dinner on a busy weeknight. Had the roti canai, pan mee, hainan chicken and rice, satay chicken and beef. I felt that overall the food was very sweet. The satay skewers were quite chewy. The service was good and fast. Prices are within local range. Environment was big, bustling and inviting with lots of carpark.
Hungry Ronin
This is a restaurant that most would love to hate. But you just can't. Nevermind it's now a franchise chain with branches in India, China and UAE; it's just absolutely killing it with the balance of everything needed to make a good dining experience. Flavoursome dishes, check. Authenticity, check. Wide range of Malaysian cuisine, check. Great value, check. Even their self service of writing what you order and pressing a button is undeniably functional. I have been to a few Papariches in Melbourne and they're always satisfying. Papa has gotten their brand, Nyoyak rasa/tastes and processes into a Franchise and engineered artform and wearing down the Malaysian cuisine peddling competition. The Starbucks of Malaysian restaurants, just with better taste. Have to give them the respect lah.
Sweet Chilli
Had my staple hainanese chicken rice which is always good from PappaRich because they serve you a whole breast of chicken rather than something brown. Although not the best it's good enough and possibly one of the better choices at Westfield.
Tan Hong Ping
Not good at all. Over priced with extremely small serving. Pictures in menu are much bigger than the real serve. Manager is disinterested when I complained.
EatMeMelbourne
I pretty much order the roti canai whenever I visit pappa rich and it never disappoints! I love the fast service and this Doncaster restaurant had a great kids play area for my little one to enjoy. That in itself is worth an extra point!
Pak
A Malaysian food chain with hawker style food. My favourite dishes are: chicken curry laksa (strong spicies, good serving size), Pappa Fried Mee, Roti Chanai, Pappa Fried Kwai Teo and Hainanese chicken rice. On this occasion we ordered the 12x mixed Chicken and Beef skewers which were great! The chicken was tender and the beef not overly dry - the cucumbers/red onion/peanut sauce goes well with the satays. The Roti Barwang (egg, onion) with chicken curry was average, it was a bit too soggy in the middle with the onion. I've always liked their selection of drinks - some may find them a bit sweet but they are nice. Can't say it's the cheapest food but the food is generally prepared promptly and the quality consistent. The Doncaster Papparich has a children playground monitored via a TV in the dining area - bonus for parents with young kids.
Patricia
The nasi lemak and sambal was true to Malaysia. Sadly the cucumber that accompanied the dishes seemed to have been left out for a little too long and started to dry out. The beef rendang was a bit watery and beef was not as tender. The curry chicken and sambal prawns was just okay. The briyani rice was good. The satay was tasty and juicy but unfortunately the peanut sauce fell short in taste. The iced teh tarik and soya bean drink with grass jelly satisfied my tastebuds. Service was quick and the food arrived promptly. A few hits send misses but overall a pleasant meal.
LiamzlEats
Easy cheap food that comes to you very quickly (a negative or positive depending on how long you want to go out for), some of the dishes can be somewhat greasy but most are very nice, roti in particular is a standout.

Papparich is a franchise from Malaysia with numerous locations all around Australia. Papparich here in Melbourne is totally different than the one back home. In fact, its 10 times better. Food is consistent in every location. Taste is the same everywhere and does not differ, which is excellent. There are plenty to choose from in their hardcover menu which is brightly coloured with high quality pictures making you drool over each one. They start with entrees and their specialty, the hainan bread which can be served sweet or savoury, as with their roti which is ever so flaky and buttery on the outside yet soft inside as it should be. Then, there's the range of noodles (wet, dry or fried), rice (congee, chicken rice, fried rice, biryani, nasi lemak), a bit of western options as well like the chicken chops, fries and crispy fried chicken skin, and your dim sum for the true Asians.<br/><br/>Vegans, they've got you covered as well with choices of mock rendang, noodles and more.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>As for drinks, you have atleast two whole pages filled with different variations of hot and cold drinks to choose from. They have got you covered, from the chilli to non chilli lovers, rice or noodle fans and so on. Their curry and laksa dishes can be a bit spicy so if you're not a fan of eating spicy foods, be safe and stick to the hainan chicken rice or similar dishes.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>This one in Doncaster is their biggest in Melbourne and even caters for little children with a dedicated playspace. Parents can sit nearby eating their food in peace while watching their kids on the big screen TV.<br/><br/>Read more reviews at mmatcommunity.com
Katherine's Food Diary
I had the Roti Canai with Chicken Curry. My first thought when my dish was brought out was that the roti canai looked very different to Mamak's. It looked less fluffy and thicker, but it tasted amazing. It was also fluffy, actually, and deliciously crispy. I couldn't pick which one was nicer - they were both good. Different, but good. I loved the spicy, super tender curry chicken - it was nice to have an option to have the roti plain or with curry chicken on the side as I sure love having something else to go with my roti! Overall, food and drinks were not bad, but the roti canai with curry was excellent - I would come back just for this.

First time to Doncaster branch and found their quality is consistent with city branch. My all time fav is their generous fried Maryland w briyani rice and fried chicken skin (sinful but super tasty snack and compliment to your dish). Wanton noodle was little sweet for me and Sar Hor fan lacks the "wok" flavour. Still prefer to go Straits cafe, or Penang Flavours for Malaysian dishes.

If you are after a kid friendly restaurant in the area, this is a good option - plenty of high chiars and a kids playground. Foodwise - pretty standard. Service is friendly and quick.
Ronnie Hudson
Had the seafood curry laksa here and it reminded me of Malaysian /Singaporean laksa. Seriously the closest thing I've come in Australia to having a typical laksa. Walked away with a massive grin on my face.
Mario Sander
Delicious Roti!!!! Believe it or not, I ordered 3 serves of Roti just for myself! It just just soft but crunchy outside. Their chicken rice was ok and can be a bit better. Best of all is that they have an indoor play area dedicated for kids, so we can eat in peace. Great experience overall.
Lamingtons
The place looks cute from the outside like a small cottage, very different to the other pappa rich franchises. The food was pretty mediocore. Service was really fast my dish wasnt living to the nenu picture expectation or maybe i ordered the wrong thing, not worth the $16 dish. But will try again.<br/><br/>The place is a bit cold but the biggest high light were the drinks. Hshs jb dbdjvsvz b sve3v73y ammmmmmmazing. The mango smoothie with jelly and lychee. (*__^)
Juan Carlos BarragĂĄn Quintero
1.5 extra dollars if you do not want ice. I have not seen so much meanness an greed in any other restaurant. The staff is not the friendliest but not too bad.
Theknifeandforktalk
Steamed chicken, noodles, mango lycee drink. I love the concept of writing what you want down and ringing the bell when you're ready! Avoids that wasting of time and gets things done straight to the point. Food came out quickly and food!
Belinda Vee
I'm the biggest sucker for PappaRich and I just order the one menu item every time I go. It's just a habit of mine, I try other things in the menu that my friends get but nothing beats their roti to me! I will always come here for the Roti and the cute drinks
Kay
Menu and food have not changed for years. Very quick service, meals served in about 5min from order. Won't be able to cook anything so quickly at home.<br/>Not a place if someone is looking for pork dishes<br/><br/><br/>
Brianna Zhou
Went there on weekend. Very busy restaurant. Like the concept, write order by ourselves and ring the bell for services. Roti is nice, warm and fresh, but not sure the other dishes are fresh cook or not, not very impressive. Lots of drink options which is good but don't think will go back again.
Hilda Lee
I've been coming here for years but today was the first time in about a year. The prawn mee is my favorite - the soup is flavorful, it comes with veges and the portion is reasonable. Some of their other dishes are nice too. However I find that the prices keep going up and it's pretty pricey for what you get. The service is also mediocre, everything is self serve and the staff literally just give you food and take your money. Service was efficient though and food came reasonably quickly. Wouldn't rush to come back, but will be back for the prawn mee some time.
Ippy
Used to go here regularly for a quick feed but have noticed the size of dishes becoming smaller and prices go up? Disappointing to say the least
Ben 001
Very average<br/>

Loved the food... brought back childhood memories of parotta and karoma.. The egg stuffed parotta with onions was real different and a first for me... known as the Roti Temur here.. had it along with chicken curry... The mixed fried rice were ok.. have had better.. Mango mania was a brain freezer.. Overall a good experience and worth another visit.. maybe to another outlet which has a better zomato rating.. <br/>

I always have high hopes for Papparich joints as the hype for this establishment is always off the charts. I'm left wondering by the end of it - why. Maybe I'm ordering the wrong dishes I'm not sure but this time I ordered the Fried Mee and it was nothing worth raving about. Something you find anywhere else and flavours were much left to be desired with it being bland and lacking that Malaysian, spiced flavour. Food came out like lightning though and service was very attentive.
TheTomato
Papa rich is home to authentic Malaysian delights. However, it is way too oily. Otherwise, the curries has its exotic flavour and will not leave you burning. A must try.
Sophie
<br/>C01 Roti with sauce: every other time we order this dish their happy with replace the spicy dipping sauce to yogurt dip (raita) so my kids can enjoy it. But not today simply the supervisor will not allow to alter the order!
Nate
CLOSED DOWN!<br/>Been replaced by "Ocean Seafood Bar"<br/><br/>---<br/>When the place first opened, I wasn't happy having to pay these type of prices for Malaysian food. Now I'm just complacent as some of the dishes aren't bad such as the roti and chicken rice. Its by no means great Malaysian food but it does the trick when your craving Malaysian food as the place is big and service quick. The place is popular despite the average ratings and it gets loud. Nonetheless it's a good option for families as there's a playground for kids and a huge menu that's has something bound to please everyone. Even though the flavours might not be there. Drink menu gives it extra points as well.

PappaRich is practically everywhere in Melbourne, and interestingly their Doncaster outlet is located in a separate building and not part of a shopping centre or shopping strip. It’s a spacious area but bustling during the weekends. If you had never been to a PappaRich before, they basically offer a wide selection of Malaysian rice, noodle and roti dishes along with a an almost innumerable amount of drinks to choose from.
PEKISH
Lovely restaurant that has a children's play area & live camera's so the parents can watch their kids play while having their meal. For a date night without the kids we were seated next to the play area. It was too noisy so we decided to move outside where the weather was nice. We had the beef rendang, which was good. Have had better elsewhere but was happy to get something decent. The meal with the rice came to our table warm, on the colder side so wasn't really impressed but we had a movie to catch so didn't want to wait any longer. We ordered prawn dumpling which were like the ones you get out of a frozen packet. What saved this meal was the Roti & drinks. Roti was freshly made, tasty & crispy on the outside. The mocha & lychee drinks were delicious. The dessert menu looks great, so will be back to try their desserts. Food wise, it's a cheap eat.
Mae
Found eggshells in my noodles. Not happy. Manager didn't do a single thing, just apologised. Can get much better malaysian from so many other places. Only part I enjoyed were the drinks.
Lady Rain
Total rip off at this Doncaster outlet. The food portion is the smallest I have ever had from any Papparich outlets. The food quality seems to be below the standard of the other outlets. They made me feel totally cheated with such a small portion of food for an already overpriced item.
Snowflower
Pretty standard Malaysian fare. Not the best but not bad. This branch of PappaRich is attractive for its kid friendliness and large spaces. Has a playroom with CCTV. The restaurant is also good for big groups looking to dine together. They are flexible enough to arrange tables to fit everyone. Would be better if they could have more tv monitors so that parents sitting in other areas can see what's going on in the playroom. The current one is located right outside the playroom facing a couple of tables only.
KPet
Love this place for a quick meal.<br/>Friendly efficient staff, food comes out super fast.<br/>Love the Satay's, best Roti, laksa's great.<br/>Nothing fancy but great value.
Foodhunterxxx
The food is basically edible but there is no specialty. Portion is relatively small and the price is dear compared to others. Try not to visit if possible.
May
Wide selection of Malaysian food with large car park area available. Favourites: Hor fun (stir fry rice flat noodle with egg gravy sauce), steamed chicken with flat noodle soup, satay, penang asam laksa, pan mee soup, dried pan mee. For drinks: love the warm barley, teh tarik and the coconut concoction. Always a good place to go for authentic Malaysian cuisine.
George Tan
Dine here quite many times with my family, always a restaurant with many choices and fast service. The drinks selection is also great, my favourite is always the roti canai. Never fail to impress, but hopefully they have more selection and choices.
Alan Christie
Friends took us here when in Melbourne recently - bustling, fast, tasty, and I love how you call the serving staff by pushing the button on the table - although not as much as my kids and probably not the enjoyment of the staff given how much my kids wanted to push it - but it never seemed to phase them!We ordered laksa [wow!] and various noodle soup dishes - Mmmm! Wanting to visit Melbourne again to go here once more
Ilovefood
Quality of food has dropped dramatically, portion has been reduced, price gone up. I understand price can not remain the same but for the same price you can have better Malaysian food elsewhere. <br/>Same goes with all PappaRich stores.
Gdkf
There is a reason why this place is always busy! They serve consistently delicious food! I am a fan of their chicken laksa..and their roti..spectacular!! The do it yourself ordering and bell service at your table just adds to the convenience, fast and friendly service! Not to mention their coconut iced drink..fantastic!
Bentheeater
High class night market food. Very spacious with a great kid's play area. The food is consistent with other papa rich restaurants. Keep in mind food doesn't look like what's shown on the menu.
Merlin
Could be much better....more expensive than your average Malaysian  restaurant for what is really simple food. The system of writing down your own order is really clumsy. Someone has to collect the piece of paper anyway, so wouldn't be easier to take the order at the same time????
Bluecat
Of all the outlets I like this one the most. I like the space, so I don't have to feel like a sardine. The service is okay. Food wise is similar with every outlet. As for those who had never been to Papa rich, it's a good start to try one of this place. Just avoid the drinks it's way over priced!
Chilli And Butter
Like the concept, expensive fit out, I guess they have not spend every dollar in the right spot. A little bit out date. I have heard a lot about this restaurant from my friends, most are negative, happened I have to eat here with a few families here tonight. I ordered fried fish head with thin noodle and fish broth. Simple Malaysian bursting with a lot of flavor. Fish broth, you could tell made from scratch, nothing from the package, fresh fish head with a bit of fish meat. Delicious and authentic. Paid $17, I think it is really reasonable, for those think it is too expensive, Mac is cheaper! Papa Rich Papa Rich
Lucy Cannon
Uuuurgggghhhh bad food
Ricky S
Quick and tasty. I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad for this joint but everytime I go the service has been very good when compared to your standard cheap eat asian places. Also the laksa is the bomb!! Thick soup and tasty. I think people need to be less picky and accept it for what it is. Its a cheap eat family restaurant. If you want a fine dining experience then don't go here in the first place. Jeeezzz..
Daisy_heart16
Poor service. Food is yuck place is noisy staffs are u friendly.
Leelee
It was alright!. Came here on a quite Saturday arvo. Perhaps it was quiet, so i thought the food was comparable to QV paparich and the service and cleanliness was fine. Not a lot to rave about, but glad i came when it wasn't busy.
Stuartm1
Cheap and Nasty. Tried it, would not bother again. Lack of cutlery and napkins, sticky tables, ordinary service. Ok for people with minimum budget.
Benazir_shaikh10

I always think it's a little strange that whichever branch of PappaRich I walk past there always seems to be some sort of queue as I find the food here not bad, but also not something I think is worth lining up for. But if you're looking for something decent, easy and cheap, then PappaRich will definitely tick all those boxes.

I am a massive fan of this place. I love their Malaysian cuisine since it has great flavours and it's not too spicy, but spicy enough so it tastes relatively authentic. However, this was my first time at the Doncaster branch. Pappa Rich has this self ordering system where you write your order on a sheet and a waiter collects it. They then give you the bill straight away - ours was $48 for the following meals and drink. I don't mind the self-service too much, since it probably saves the waiters from awkwardly waiting around.

Never again.... Had char kuey tiao. Serving size was really small and on a largish plate. What was worse, half the dish was made up of bean shoots. In the past have eaten soup based rice noodles with a similar quantity of beanshoots... Dishes aren't cheap either... Quite disappointing. Have had similar experiences at other Papparich restaurants (Nunawading, and Doncaster Shoppingtown).

Boring family style eatery with bland food. This place could be described as Malaysian 'Sizzler', same sort of atmosphere. The layout of the menu takes a little while to get one's head around with lots of glitzy pictures (which turn out to have little resemblance to the food served) and strange layout. Staff seem a little undertrained and overwhelmed. Food arrives to table and can best be described as bland and carelessly prepared. Price vs quality equation does not stack up. I get the impression that the 'core' elements of the food are prepared off site by Papparich HQ and sent to the restaurant to be finished and served. Very unexciting experience.

Bad customer service. Upon asking for a table for 3 we were seated onto a table for 2 where the table is way too small to accommodate 3 people and when requesting if we could change to a larger table they refused as they said it was for more people and a short while later another staff came and asked what was wrong and we explained that we wanted a bigger table and the staff replied "depends on how much you order we may switch you to a bigger table" <br/>So does that mean we need to change table again while eating or does it mean we can't afford our food.<br/>Impolite and rude staff highly not recommended

Hawker style gone upmarket franchise ....... <br/><br/>Typical Malaysian Hawkers delicious dishes that you can eat anytime of the day, from Breakfast to Supper.<br/>Got to give it to the management for providing , quick, tasty and consistent dishes.<br/>The only thing I don't get, those drinks is about half the price of the food?????<br/>Desserts quite good, especially if you like shaved iced type.<br/>YES, you must order using codes from the menu and pay at the counter, is OK we are used to it.<br/>Service in most time are pleasant, some can even speak Bahasa.<br/>Weekend queuing is the norm, can't reserve a table unless you have 10 people with you.<br/>Best to go on quieter times, if you can.
Saster
Crispy Egg Noodle (Stingy with Ingredients). Poor value

I kinda like it because.... We go here quiet often when in a group of 4 or more due to the following reasons:<br/>1. cheap price<br/>2. good enough taste<br/>3. child friendly<br/>4. plenty of parking<br/>5. some good desserts<br/><br/>end review

Overall good food, except terrible ice kacang!. I love the freshly made roti canai here, and other meals like nasi lemak etc are pretty good to satisfy cravings for Malaysian food too. However, the ice kacang is an absolute disgrace to the REAL authentic ones in Malaysia. Very disappointing coming from a supposedly authentic Malaysian restaurant.
