Review The Bar - Double Bay

It's ok, but I had much higher expectation for the restaurannt with is so overpriced. Food is ok, atmosphere is average and the place doesn't even look as fancy as on the pictures. Worth visiting, but once in your life is all you need.

My girlfriend and I went to the Stillery to celebrate a special occasion, hoping to get out an enjoyable experience. However, the place felt very awkward, and the waiters, waitresses and the environment strangely made it very eerie and uncomfortable. The food was no doubt mind blowing, but the portions were just too little, even for a 5 star gourmet restaurant. Even after having an appetizer, main and a dessert, it was just downright stupidly small.

Great choices of gin cocktails. Service is excellent with knowledgeable staff. Decor is excellent and piano is available for those in a musical mood.

We visited Stillery restaurant on Valentine’s Day 14.02.21 with our friends. We expected to have a good time but service in restaurant was disgusting. We were waiting for menus, water, order. All the time we have to ask twice or even more times for something. Nobody cleaned the table after the food. We were seating with dirty plates on the table. They forgot to bring dessert. We’ve got a feeling nobody cares about anybody and anything. All the staff looked like they have no idea what to do and how to serve people. As a member of the hotel group I don’t think I ever go there again. It’s a shame for five star hotel!!!! Ilia Osipovich, Sydney, Australia

Went for high tea on Valentines, service was good but food was sub par for a 5 star venue charging premium price, the hightea was first bought out on a small and crooked stand, we had to ask the staff to change as it looked like the leaning tower of Pisa. The deserts reminded me of cheap buffet deserts (cant taste anything but sugar) and the savory food was bland and boring. Definate let down as my partner was looking forward to the occasion.

This was very disappointing. We came for Christmas lunch (and paid a small fortune for the honour) only to be greeted by pretty poor and sullen service, mediocre food at best and a poorly managed event. From the staff not being able to find our reservation, to seafood being served with no finger bowls being given was just the start. We were given crab claws with no way of extracting the meat, roast potatoes were really boiled potatoes, panna cotta was runny and wouldn’t stay on a spoon, the turkey was so hard you had to saw through it. We paid close to 1000 for four people and yet still had to continually ask for drinks to be served and we often went without throughout the meal. Certainly not worth the money and almost fraudulent advertising of a Christmas meal as opposed to what was served.

Fabulous spot in Double Pay for a drink after work with music that is not overwhelming. Olivia wad very good looking after us. Giovanni and Dio are keeping an eye on things. Since Giovanni has been there the InterContinental is re-inventing itself.
