Review Laneway Espresso Dromana - Dromana

Tan Thomas
We had a 23 of us and we are all pleased and Filled . Very Nice place done up in Home style and comfortable. We went upstairs and their is a big sitting for all 23 of us a very long table. There is small settings with just comfy chairs and table too. Food serving is portioned and generous. Price is slight higher than usual cafe. See photograph for food size and all. Taste is fresh and tasty.

I was craving for a Big Breakfast currently staying for the weekend in the Mornington Peninsula so my partner suggested we checkout Laneway Espresso! It was 2 mins from our Air bnb accomodation parking was very convenient across the road. The inside of this place was very cosy and the theme was bringing us back into the future. First thing I notice was the soup of the day at the registers “roasted pumpkin soup (also came with cheese toastie)” so I had to get that along with the “Big breakfast” I was not disappointed (big portions with a hand comparison photo)! Staff were friendly and efficient will definitely be back !

My daughter had coffee spilled all over her and the staff member involved didn't ask her if she was alright nor did he apologise. Unfortunately the disregard shown to my daughter does not end with this particular staff member. After informing the management/owners via email and including photos, I am yet to hear back from them. I understand the hospitality industry is finding it hard to find staff let alone good staff. In this instance, Laneway management have behaved equally as poorly as their above mentioned staff member. They too disregarded my teenage daughter's negative experience by failing to respond to my email.

We have been meaning to visit here in what seems like forever, and so today we did. Boy am I glad, I finally found my post Covid unicorn of Corn Fritters done well! I thought the food would take forever to arrive due to the long queue to order, however I was wrong. Seems the system works well and this frees up staff to deliver meals to the table, and they were all coming out thick and fast. We both loved our food but the coffee was next level again, loved it! Thanks for an awesome experience and also great food and coffee. Great to see a thriving local doing everything well. We will be back again soon.

Tasty meals, generous serves and good friendly service. This is all any eatery needs to provide. If the outdoor chairs were a little more comfortable I'd give it the extra star. This is a good eatery without the bells and whistles and is also very popular with the locals. Highly recommended.

Lovely to sit in the laneway on such a glorious, sunny day. Umbrellas were there for those that wanted shade. Food was good and of generous proportions. We were surprised to get potato crisps with the chicken burger, but it added a different texture to the meal. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Always try to visit when I’m in the area. Coffee is solid and so is the food. Ordered a club sandwich which was delicious. Ice coffee is generous and comes in a jar. Scrambled eggs with sides A little on the pricey side given the small size of the servings but pretty good overall. Awesome location right across the beach. Will be back. Highly recommended.

Had the smashed avocado 🥑🥑 which was so delicious, they even made it plant-based for me by using vegan feta ☺️ There are a few other vegan options on the menu. Great atmosphere in the cafe, will visit again when in the area.

Laneway Espresso is always my first and last stop every time we head down from Melbourne past Dromana. The coffee is consistently amazing, and the food is delicious. One thing I especially love about Laneway, is that it's full of great people; both patrons and staff are friendly- you couldn't count the nods and smiles as you walk in and out. This place has an air about it that feels fun, relaxed and welcoming. It's definitely one of my favourite places to grab a bite and coffee. 10/10 would recommend this place! (Don't even get me started on their range of cakes ... so so good...)

Probably the best place down the peninsula for coffee. Great and friendly staff, always packed and stunning atmosphere. A place I will visit every single time I am in Dromana

Had breakfast here. The food was very sexy, delicious and eye appealing. Coffee was drinkable, would have been better a bit hotter. The ambiance was lovely and the service was very good. Some staff with more experience than others was obvious, but it is Summer on the peninsula and you need to account for that. Would highly recommend and we will be back again. Cheers, Red!

Quaint little cafe with cool staff and truly nice food, from brekkie to comfort food. And the coffee - ohlala!!!! Always made welcome by the staff with my little puppy, Hoshi (and he likes the food also). When in Dromana, do Dramona properly and popped in, view the retro sales in the store and enjoy the ambience and food and most certainly have a great coffee!

Amazing place Callum and I go a lot staff and owner is fantastic. 10/10

Highly recommend by the lovely people I'm now doing business with down the road from you guys at the Attic & Barn. They and there stall holders love your place, and now I know why, very cool trendy and retro. Fantastic offerings and lovely friendly smiley service. You will. E seeing us a lot. Oh, and brekkie was lovely 😊

Spent 3 days here at a basketball tournament and kept going back over and over the coffee was perfect the service was friendly and fast and the food was spot on, awesome deco too

Walking in the door we are always greeted with a smile followed by a delicious breakfast and coffee. The selection of cakes (especially the yummy Mediterranean custard tart :-D ) is also a lovely treat if you find yourself there just for the great coffee :-)
Valerie Harding
A must place to visit. Great coffee, great food and lovely friendly service!

Delicious breakfast and lunches. The best baked cheesecake ever. Lovely staff and great surrounds.
Liz Bruhn
Great coffee, yummy food, pleasant staff, interesting quirky place

This is the most AWESOME coffee, purchased on the run before travelling 7 hrs home. Cant stop thinking about it and the beautiful shop. wish id discovered it at the beginning of our visit to the Peninsular, and not the last moment.
Subra Ramanaidu
Stopped for brekkie on the way to Melbourne. Wife loved the cafe... great gluten free choices.

Went there over our Xmas beak, but just realised my previous review didn’t go through. The guy there (possibly the manager/owner) was super accommodating to our kids and made a special effort to fit us in even when they were fully packed. Food and coffee was delicious and service was great. Also has a nice ambience.

I really appreciate that you can order something a bit fancy. But they're not afraid to offer some traditional bacon and eggs. Top breaky place.
Christina Mathiasz
Great food, that was fresh and tasty. The cold drip and soy coffees were also well made. Unfortunately the service was disappointing. For a busy Sunday morning, they managed who was to be seated next, really badly, we asked for water to the table 3 times (and never got it!) and food was slow to come out. Also, not a fan of the Sunday surcharge. I'd recommend going here on a quiet weekday though, as the food was great.
Katherine Esser
Consistently good food standard, best in the area. Be prepared for a "slow brunch" as wait times can be long when busy. Go earlier rather than later.
Fusspot
Great coffee in a nice relaxed setting amongst bric a brac & seconds directly opposite to the beach. Also outdoor dining area .

What an incredible find in such a beautiful coastal town!

Where to even start..
The café’s interior and styling is unlike anything I’ve seen before. It really screamed local coastal town hot spot! Very busy! The staff were really wonderful and friendly. Thank you for making our mornings so memorable!

We tried some delicious dishes that they have to offer on their menu. We were really impressed with some of their choices. For example, they have a thinly cut bread. No more having to use a steak knife to cut through your toast.. It is perfect for cutting and does not fill you up completely just from bread too.

Heirloom Avocado
Seriously one of the best smashed avo’s I have had all year! Delicious! Thankyou for bringing back my love for this classic brunch favourite.

The Smashing Pumpkins
Another favourite of mine. The flavours were do unique and really delicious to start my day with!

Laneway Waffles
Such a standout! Usually with sweet dishes you can leave feeling like you’ve had too much and a bit ill… but this sweet dish has been done in such a way that you don’t feel sickly sweet afterwards. Really subtle, deliciously good.

Roasted Mushrooms
The flavours within the mushroom was exceptionally tasty. My favourite element of the dish!

Mediterranean Breakfast
Once again, the unique dish that Laneway Espresso plates up offers really different flavours and changes to our usual brunch classics.. which I LOVE.

Drinks – We ordered both juices, the Karma Rama and the Green Power. Fantastic!

💚Dog Central
💚Outdoor and Indoor Seating Options
💚Delicious & Unique Brunch Menu Options
💚Thoughtful decisions with menu items that made brunch that more enjoyable!

You can't review this place until you've tried their Cheesecake. Our favourite thing with coffee on a Saturday morning adventure

A bustling local cafe located in the bayside Dromana, the menu at Laneway Espresso isn’t exactly adventurous Despite this, they do dish up a top notch, quality breakfast that’s well executed, well priced and generous in portion sizes.
For a tasty and reliable feed that’s bound to satiate your hunger, Laneway Espresso should be on your to-do when heading down the Mornington Peninsula!
Varun Chandwani
Great place and good vibes.
This place is pet friendly and offers good range of food.
Have been here many timed and have tried egg with toastie, coffee, carrot cake and orange cake. Everything was well prepared.

Interior of the place is unique and amazing.

Laneway espresso has beautiful view and lots of parking nearby.

This is my go to place in mornington.

Cheers

Located directly across the beach this little coffee shop is a hidden gem. I am lucky enough to live locally to here and visit it frequently during the week when its not holiday season. Weekends and holiday season expect to queues as this gets really busy. There is no table service however food is delivered to you . All the bakery goods are made in house and they have an extensive brunch menu. The smashed avo is my favourite and come hungry as the serves are BIG! great coffee and a good selection of fresh juices. My tip go mid week and off holiday season

Best service and great food + coffee

Laneway Espresso is our go-to when we are at Dromana for the weekend! Always leave satisfied and happy

I started with the croissant burger and it went down so good, sunnyside up fried eggs w/ avocado and bacon served in a croissant with hollandaise on the side (would have loved a little more hollandaise) 🍳🥐 next was the salami baguette filled with rocket, bocconcini, sun dried tomatoes and salami with a side of nicely balanced balsamic and olive oil dip 🍅 finished off with homemade spanakopita.. lets just officially say that i can't possibly say no to any type of pastry with filling! 🤤 Now that thats cleared up, i may have also ordered the laneway homemade sausage roll 😉 which along with the relish you see, was without a doubt the standout! definitely the recommendation if you visit 😎 all in all 7.5/10 for taste, coin and portion ☑ .
.
.
💡 TIP - don't forget that relish with your sausage roll 😉 you won't regret it 😎

Situated directly across from the beach is the adorable Laneway Espresso cafe.
If you swipe to the end photo, this gives you an indication of the gorgeous vintage/antique atmosphere you will be immersed in.
You’ll be looking around in awe at the venue until your food comes out.

We ordered the pancakes and they were so light & fluffy! They were also layered with nutella 🤤 the caramelised banana was a beautiful addition, and the ratio of maple syrup to pancake was perfect!

We also got the heirloom avocado
I’d had this dish 3 years ago and it has always been one of my favourite smashed av dishes.
It was so great to see that nothing had changed
Simple. Faultless. Delicious.

My tip: get a piece of cheesecake to go. Life changing.

I also just want to mention how nice it was to be in a community where everyone wants to chat and have a laugh with you.
The staff were so beautiful and friendly.
It feels like home away from home ✨

Quirky place with funky music. A real Gem of a place on the peninsula. Generous size breakfast my fave Heirloom with 2 poached eggs. Coffee on point. Polite staff and child friendly the kids corner keeps my girls busy everytime we go. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a quality breakfast and coffee.

Very good food but a bit overpriced.

Huge queues to order and for higher end Melbourne prices they really should offer table service. Either way counter service was very friendly, and once we ordered (took 10-15 mins?) Our coffee and food both came out surprisingly quickly.

Coffee was really good.

Food wise - also pretty good.

Smashed avo was yummy - the balsamic reduction and cherry tomatoes elevated it to upper echelon brunch option. Though at $19, you'd want it to be top notch!

Partner had the bacon and eggs (poached), very basic for $18. They don't even butter the toast. If you're going to choose that dish, scrambled eggs might be a better option.

Mates who got the croisstant with bacon and eggs were both super happy.

All up I'd go back for coffee and maybe a light snack (they do scones!), Or breakfast during a non-peak period.

And if zomato let people give half ratings these days (don't know why they removed that option...) I'd be giving them a 3.5
Rebecca Krelle
I waiting 20 minutes just to order. The lady on the counter was slow and there was a line through the cafe and no table service. The whole thing was SLOW. Really upset as it’s a nice venue but definitely not worth having to wait in line that long just to order a coffee and some breakfast. It was a long weekend so perhaps they weren’t used to it. May be better on a weekday when they can handle a lower volume of clientele.
EatsOfMelbourneAus
The best brunch in Dromana, that’s for sure 👌🏻 Every summer I come down for brunch here when I stay at my holiday house. The food and the coffee never disappoints 😁
Big Jim
Easter Saturday at 9am so was expecting it to be busy...and it was. A long queue to take our order but then the coffees and food came relatively quickly. Seems mostly the negative feedback and reviews have centred on the wait. This was not our experience. She had Bercher Müsli - nicely presented and the serving generous but not too large to chew through. I had the heirloom smashed avo. All very Melbourne but so good. Our dog also enjoyed the laneway setting we found a table away from the road and away from the other larger dogs. Well played guys. The service was attentive but left no lasting negativity 👍😉
Natalie
Loved the quirky ambiance here. The coffee was amazing! If you take almond milk defiantly recommend their coffees.
We had the pineapple smoothie and the mango smoothie and there were so refreshing!
It was rather busy and the line to order was very long although, time went by so fast as there was so much art work and collectables to look at.
Catherine
Unfortunately I came to this cafe at peak hour this morning around 9am and it was busy. I joined the long line to order my meal, and then it took about 15 minutes to come out. Two of my friends had their meals forgotten, I asked about them then they arrived as we were finishing ours..I ordered the heirloom avocado which was a crazy $19! 2 thin pieces of sourdough stacked with a blob of mushed avocado and feta on top... With a few cherry tomatoes. I would definitely not pay that much for that again, I was very underwhelmed. If you’re going to this cafe I’d recommend not going in peak times..
Craig Staunton
One cashier means a very long wait to order. No idea why they don't just have table service?
Coffee was nice, but breakfast was dissapointing. Literally get 1 cherry tomato with the eggs Benedict (lol) for $18. Also, I'm pretty sure the hollandaise sauce was just melted butter.
Erta Rubin
Paid $19 for two fried eggs and a Mediterranean salad that was 50% red onion .... couldn’t see much else ... totally not worth the money .... perhaps it was due to being so busy that they couldn’t cope ?? Or they ran out of ingredients .... very disappointed with breakfast this morning ..... also no table service ....
Anna
Not entirely impressed. Ordered ‘The Mediterranean’ breakfast and a frappe. The description for ‘The Mediterranean’ stated a salad with two fried eggs. My plate came out with eggs on toast and a tiny side salad. Not to my satisfaction - especially when you pay $19.00. Frappe was also not as expected. It was very foamy and not drinkable.
Staff seemed friendly enough but this establishment really does not have table service. Had to ask for napkins and also helped myself to glasses and water.
Tania S
I wasn’t a fan of this cafe. I personally don’t agree with making customers line up in a long queue to order and pay for their food in advance. The Mediterranean breakfast was definitely not worth the price. It was basically toast with two fried eggs and a small rocket salad on the side (that contained capsicum and feta). The iced latte was more like a flat white with ice cubes in it and we paid for but did not receive a hash brown. Luckily we realised before the end of the meal and asked for a refund. Most cafes who ‘stuff up’ an order throw in a free coffee, but of course that’s not an option here as you have already paid for your meal in advance! Definitely won’t be back and cannot recommend.

Wow. Very interesting decor... Every wall has something different to say! Great food and service but I think they better start investing in diamond-edged knives because my spanakopita was impossible to cut.

Did I mention the decor??
Peter
The latte is great. However, due to having only one machine, the line is quite long. It took us 30minutes to get our coffee.
The desired extra hot latte was not hot. The takeaway cups with sugar should come with spoons.

Overall, the place is lovely. I’d like to come back later.
Eat. Sleep. Create. Repeat.
Set facing the beach a heritage decorated cafe. Staff are professional and friendly. Coffee smells awesome. Smash pumpkin favour balanced with acidity and added nuts for crunchy texture. Love the peacefulness sitting and resting after the long drive.

This little cafe tucked away in the heart of Dromana provides a friendly, quirky and vintage vibe and the menu features some traditional breakfast items with some of Melbournes classics such as smash avo, (never can go wrong with a smashed avo). Coffee is always lovely with a house made blend and a changing single origin blend as well. Lakeway espresso is a must when travelling down to the cost!
Claire & Eric
The locals stated ‘it’s worth the wait’ (referring to the coffee) After receiving our coffee from a 25 mins wait, we can surely tell you it wasn’t.

Apart from coffee, we absolutely adore their delicious cakes and even though we haven’t tried their food, we can understand why this is a local favourite. The blueberry cheesecake and carrot cake caught our eye- they were both fluffy, light and not too sweet.

If you’re in the area and don’t mind the wait, you should drop by and check out what they have to offer.

Love the vibe of this place. The hip hop references. The antiques for sale. Great food! Don’t miss out on the croissant burger. Haven’t had anything like it before!
Rebecca
A must visit!! By far my FAVOURITE brunch spot on the peninsula! The coffee, the friendly staff, the efficient service and not to mention the delicious menu! Nothing so far has compared to brunch at this gorgeous gem of a cafe!

Good coffee, speedy service and cheesecake labelled as famous for a reason - because it's damn good. This will be my go-to when I'm in the area.

Would I return? If I was a local for sure as it seemed to be the best café for miles. In saying that it is not up to Melbourne standards but they charge the same price.

Laneway Espresso Dromana is a large café attached to an antique shop. There is a cute laneway outdoor area which I imagine would be amazing in summer, right opposite the beach. The cafe has quirky decor with no apparent unifying theme other than retro. It is pleasant and gives the place a warming eccentric feel. A great place for large groups, families and everything in between. If you like Antics and alike its would be great to be able to have a wonder through the shop before or after your meal.

The coffee came quick and was good especially if you were to compare to others in the area. We also ordered a juice which wasn’t fresh but from a bottle which is always slightly disappointing. Our food ordered consisted of the Old Fashion Bacon & Eggs and the Mediterranean Breakfast.

The Old Fashion Bacon & Eggs was just that. Two pieces of toast, with bacon and two eggs. Simple! The bacon was definitely done in the oven and was a dark golden red - that's how bacon should be! The eggs were running and cooked well also. The Mediterranean Breakfast was something I haven’t seen anything like on a menu before. It was basically a Greek salad on bread with eggs. That may seem gross to some people but my partner said it tasted pretty good so check out the images. Overall both dishes were cooked and presented well however for the complexity of the meals and their ingredients it was a tad over priced.

Service? Would be better if you didn’t have to order at the counter…
Wrap up: This place is a reasonable staple for brekkie in Dromana.
HOT TIP: They have several newspapers to share around if you can grab one.
Ben Brown
I got the Roasted Mushrooms on toast from this place and it was one of the best i've ever had, the atmosphere was great as well. Definately a place that my friends and I go for breakfast or lunch!!
Two Sheds
It’s the perfect place for a 3.5 score if only that score was available to award.

This is a good local option for a meal or snack. Laneway Expresso appears to do a bustling business on what we saw. There were plenty of people in here on a cool Melbourne winter day today. The cafe did well to make sure they had enough people to keep up the service.

The place has quirky decor with no apparent unifying theme other than retro. It’s not unpleasant though and it gives the place a warming eccentric feel.

The world’s most beautiful woman chose a chicken and avocado toastie which she declared to be good and competently made. She liked it. I selected the mediterranean breakfast which was quite good as well. It needed the added side of bacon though I thought. The eggs were beautifully done and I was delighted they’d seasoned them really well including with some very good pepper. The accompanying salad was very well made and had excellent flavour including from some abundant and nicely blended feta. All in all, the dish worked well.

Nice place here. I’ll certainly return.
Chronicles Of Nardia
My friend & I stumbled across Laneway Espresso after a night away in Dromana. It’s a great little cafe attached to an antique type shop. A cute laneway outdoor area which I imagine would be amazing in summer, right opposite the beach.

We ordered coffees & breakfasts which arrived really quickly even though it was pretty busy. The coffee was strong & both our dishes were delicious. They also have a great range of cakes along with take away options. The service was fast & friendly & I’ll definitely go back next time I’m in the area.

Came here for breakfast, lovely staff, quick service and the food was amazing! I had The Smashing Pumpkin which was delicious, the staff also made my friend feel very special for her birthday, thanks so much

Ice Chocolate/ Golden Latte/ Waffle/ Benedict/ .../ ...
Golden Latte是香料味的,比如肉桂…
Old fashion bacon and eggs没拍出好看的照片,因为只有两片面包+三片培根+两个糖心蛋
推荐Laneway Benedict(如果没写错的话…) with smoked salmon❤
Vegetarian Food Lover
Laneway Espresso seems to be the busiest cafe in Dromana. Inside, the venue is large & appears very hipster. We ordered coffee, hot chocolate & a blue berry muffin. Coffee was not hot enough & tasted ok, hot chocolate was good & the muffin was warmed up which was nice.
Costa
Friendly staff who love their job. Great coffee, especially the soy. Cool vibe. Gotta love this place. Food is delicious as well so definitely grab a bite.

Laneway is always a must when we visit Mornington. On this visit we ordered Old fashion bacon and egg and Roasted mushroom, both were 10/10.
Will visit again!

Wonderful local cafe. The coffee is done with love and care, haven't failed yet. Great consistency. The food is good and the service is friendly. The ordering is at the counter. When you arrive, grab a table, check the menu and put the order at the counter. something to be aware of. Beyond that, enjoy!
Matthew Sanders
No table service but they charge the same prices as a cafe in Melbourne. Tatty old menus that look like they were laminated back in the 80s. I asked for a strong soy latte and they brought me a regular. I could see from the colour that it was weak. The waiter told me that the coffee blend was too acidic for a double shot with soy. Noone told me that when I ordered and paid in advance. I swapped it for a strong almond latte which was fine. The smashed avo with cherry tomatoes and balsamic was quite nice. Eggs were poached to perfection. My wife had the smashing pumpkins which came with poached eggs on sourdough and she enjoyed her meal. The addition of chorizo for $4.50 was a bit stingy for half a piece. The apple juice was dissapointing as it was obviously out of a bottle. Overall, not great.
Danielle B
First experience at Laneway Cafe I ordered the smashed pumpkin, iced coffee (asking for the mixture to be blended) and latte. Food took some time to come out, although was good. Iced coffee came out as a still warm latte with ice blocks, after I had asked for it to be blended with the waiter understanding my request. After an argument with a head waiter, he insisted it was a Greek style frappe. Although it was not what I asked for, I paid anyway. It was bitter and unappetizing.
The second time we went to order take away coffee and pre made juice, trying to avoid the wait of sitting inside. NOT WORTH WAITING 1 HR!! After asking several times after 30-45 minutes of waiting, if we had been forgotten about, they insisted they were making the one soy latte next. Another 20 minutes of waiting, (1 hour at this stage) we finally got our coffee, having still to ask for the juice that was pre made in the fridge behind the waiter. We were very reluctantly given a refund from the same man that argued with us about the ‘frappe/iced coffee’ situation.
Will never go back, and have told friends about our experiences.
Split The Bill
Best coffee in Dromana, hasn’t failed me yet in all these years. The rest of my group were happy with their coffee fix and yummy cakes! Good work on the latte art also! Thanks Laneway Espresso. I’ll be back!
Anthony Scarmozzino
Whats the point of going out for breakfast when you have to order at the counter like your getting smoko. Waiters everywhere who are rude and don't help at all.
Manal Wish
We've been here a few times. The owner is welcoming and happy to share what he knows about the antiques he has on sale (some are not, much to our disappointment), and his staff make great coffee and food. We always enjoy dropping in and having a coffee or a meal in the sunshine among the olive trees. A very unique space that maintains its commitment to good food and exceptional service.
Facebook User
Appalling service by lady (perhaps owner?) was so dismissive and rude when advising that the table we were directed to by one of the staff was reserved with no apology, that she might as well be ushering along anyone BUT paying patrons. I can understand it's a busy day, but that shouldn't be any excuse for rude service. What a joke. Never coming back again.
Cody
Went on a Sunday for breakfast and the food was incredible! Only down side was that the meals were staggered in coming out and therefore some people had already finished before some received theirs. Many delicious options for all food lovers and even has vegetarian alternatives. Coffee is delicious also!

Best cheesecake ever, with good coffee to boot. Nice alleyway seating, comfortable on a warm day. Would love to try the carrot cake next time
WK
5.0 based on the coffee, the cheesecake and the service 👍 I can safely move to the Peninsula now, knowing that I won't crave for good coffee!

This place is a reasonable staple for brekkie in Dromana. Food is ok- nothing wow-worthy but not terrible either , staff are friendly, it's pretty busy most of the time and so food in the cabinets is turned over daily on weekends so generally fresh. Portion sizes can be a bit hit and miss and sometimes I've needed to supplement brekkie. Coffee is pretty good and there are usually a good number of newspapers to share around. This is all 'round ok.
Carli
My partner and I visited laneway on a public holiday so it was extremely busy. It was impossible to get a seat inside and so we were sat in the outdoor laneway. It was freezing! A complete wind tunnel. I think there needs to be some thought given to protecting this seating area from the wind, maybe an installed wall or outdoor heaters because it's pretty unbearable. I was told the coffee here is excellent, and it is! Fantastic presentation, creamy flavour, no bitterness. Loved it.

I had the spanakopita and my partner had standard bacon and eggs. The spanakopita was really yum. The pastry was a tiny bit dry and the serving size could have been slightly larger if you're wanting a big breakfast but the flavour was on point. The bacon and eggs were cooked well. The bacon was definitely done in the oven and was a dark golden red- that's how bacon should be! Not light pink and undercooked as some other places do it. We both got a chocolate milkshake too as we saw them floating around looking delicious. Laneway knows how to make a milkshake! Delicious. Overall a good experience and would return.

Such a warm and inviting atmosphere with plenty of tables. Staff are friendly, service is quick and food was great. The range of sweet treats was impressive too.
My Bircher Muesli was fantastic - yoghurt and crushed nuts were the best!!
Coffee was smooth and high quality. We had such a relaxing breaky reading the paper, drinking coffee and playing with the toys for kids.

My first introduction to the cafes of Dromana left me with mixed feelings. The highlight of this place is easily the design. Not only is it a cafe but it also features an antique furniture store, which I had to venture through to get to the cafe.
However the design does not make up for the reasonably average food. I ordered the smashed avo and was quite impressed by the focus on locally sourced ingredients. Unfortunately this did not help a particularly bland meal. Presentation was reasonably good too but it wasn't the most practical in my opinion.
And same goes for the coffee. The presentation was nice, particularly the use of a souvenir teaspoon. However the coffee itself was reasonably weak and too milky for my taste.
Overall this place looks great but looks are often a bit deceiving
Tilley
Older lady placing orders wasn't very polite, I was chucked down my plain croissant with nothing to have with it, even though I asked for jam. Bacon and eggs finally came 30 mins later, very basic to pay $18 for it. We waited for an hour for coffees to only be told there's no coffees. Insincere apology was given and money for coffee returned. We won't be back.
SpicyVegie
Come here a fair bit as my nana lives local and it's her fave spot. Have never had a bad meal or bad service. I've had the smashed avo, vegan pastry from the display, plenty of their cakes and muffins but nothing was better than the waffles I had off the specials board last week. YUMM!!
Their coffees are the best in the peninsula. Always get an Almond latte and they never disappoint! They're always busy but so quick and efficient with their service... and very friendly. Love looking through the adjoining shop with beautiful antiques. Will continue to come back .. LOVE IT

Cute cafe at the back of an antique shop with lots of quirky and interesting things to look at. Coffee is good, staff are all young kids but nice and the cakes on display are classic Aussie favourites. Food looked good too, next time I'm past this way I would visit again.

I have given this place a go three times now thinking that the slow service was just because they were slightly busy. Three times now I have waited over 25 minutes for a take away coffee, no apologies or anything, and a fairly average coffee at that! They weren't even particularly busy during these times! If coffees are likely to take that long, the staff need warn the customers before they purchase and some acknowledgement of the wait would be nice. Will not be returning and would not recommend you do either.

I generally call into Laneway Espresso whenever I pop down Dromana way. Living in Box Hill I could hardly call this place my local but it's my local on the coast perhaps. The coffee is consistently good and strong. No offence to the hard working locals cafes down here but there are a lot of sub par cafes on the coast so it's good to have a place to go to which is reliable in the coffee department. I love the avocado feta/ cherry tomato breakfast but will often just call in for a takeaway coffee and something little out of the cabinet.

My friends and I went to Mornington yesterday, and we found this vintage cafe by chance. The environment is full of the sense of art. And I really like the soft apple muffin. We had wanted to stay longer, but it would closed. Anyway, no hesitate to recommend 🙂

The chocolate milkshake was absolutely amazing. Per the bloke's recommendation at the counter, I went with soy milk to add some extra and much-loved thickness. Now his advice must always be heeded. The eggs benny was good, the roasted mushroom was yummy, and the avocado mix was tasty. A nice, friendly atmosphere inside as well! Hugs and hand pounds all around!

Great coffee and bloody delicious cheesecake! The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. Definitely recommend a stop if you're in the area
Really great atmosphere, nice touch with the retro pieces and artwork. Had the crispy bacon and scrambled eggs - excellent! What a difference the free range eggs make, definitely can taste the difference. A Cafe that delivers on all fronts with really friendly, attentive and efficient staff and there seems to be lots of locals meaning the Cafe has a great reputation. Will definitely be back!

This place is just amazing. From the style of furniture, the friendly staff and beautifully fresh food. This is one of the best cafes in Dromana. The prices are reasonable compared to others in the area and the portions are generous. I will continue to come here in the near future. Coffee and cakes are fantastic as well!
Goodfood
Ordered 2 cappuccinos ..... the waitress brings them over & with a simple "sorry i spilt one them" leaves them on the table & walks off. We were a little dumbfounded. So, picture coffee spilt onto the saucer .... if you go to pick up the cup, coffee/ milk will drip on you.
I had to go & help myself to serviettes to soak up the spillage in the saucer.
Oh & coffee was lukewarm, left half of it unfinished.
I've been coming to this cute cafe for a couple of years - pretty much every time put of Melbourne I'll pay a visit. As much as I like it, I am really sad and very surprised how much plastic and waste Laneway is producing - all water now comes in plastic cups, even if I am sitting down, it will all be served in disposable plastic as well as large drinks like frappe. How deeply disappointing to see Laneway just does not care about environment and/or community and can not be bothered to help as little as reusing the amount of waste they are producing.

Cute shop fit out. Food and coffee was great, but was let down by the horrendous wait staff. Service was slow even though the place wasn't busy. At one point there were six people behind the counter chatting while the kitchen had called numerous times for service to get food out.

The atmosphere is noce and the food was really tasty, the coffee not so much.

Despite being good, the fried portobello mushroom with poached eggs and spinach and parmesan on sourdough had way to little mushroom and spinach for the $18 we paid for it. That was underwhelming.

I visit here often. I first found it when it was literally a lane way, but has since expanded into the adjacent opp-shop. The decor can be described as furniture found in everyone's garage. This ties in well with the whole adopted opp-shop theme. The coffee is good, better than most in that strip, the kitchen ordered food is great, fresh and the eggs are big, but try the spanakopita in the display. That is yummy as well. Overall, it is a hint of pretentious Melbourne cafe culture on the beach, but without the pretense, and plenty of friendly staff! Be sure to check out the art inside too!

Went there for breakfast today. The decor is awesome and sent me back to my younger days. Staff were all friendly and service was excellent. Old time scrambled eggs and bacon. Great meal. Good value. Don't forget great milkshakes as well. Sorry

Awesome place this ! Hidden amongst the usual beach side drab a dime a dozen cafes , this little place closes round 4ish but who cares....they're always pumping ! Great all day brekkie served in the lane way or in the second hand furniture shop-come cafe....by far the standout place in dromana for coffee as opposed to the other crap! Get there early coz it fills up real quick

Long wait, especially if you're hungry. Expect to wait in excess of 40 minutes on a Saturday morning . Wait staff should at least warn you upon arrival so that you have the choice of leaving or staying, but instead you are forced to pay when you order. I came here with my partner and we both ordered the Old Fashioned bacon and eggs. When our food arrived we were both underwhelmed as our poached eggs were more on the hard boiled side. For the amount of time we spent waiting we could have cooked this meal and eaten it at home. Kitchen is not big enough to cater for the size of the cafe. - Hangry customer.

Great all day breakfasts & coffees every time! The mushroom dish and/or the smashing pumpkins are my favourites. So delicious & huge servings. Super friendly service and always very efficient. My only tiny complaint is that if it's too busy to get a good table, some of the tables & chairs can be a little awkward and uncomfortable. But... worth it for the good coffee and meals! 😉

Reasonably priced. Good food, good coffee, friendly staff.
Menu is limited, basically an all day breakfast.
Place has a great atmosphere, I'll be back.

Great little find.
Come in, allocate a seat then you go and pay/order at the counter.
Place was pretty busy but we received our food within just 20 mins. I ordered the Old fashion Eggs and Bacon, scrambled with a side of grilled tomato. Eggs were scrambled perfectly, not under not over. Grilled tomato was also perfect - not hard, not too soft.
Husband had the eggs Benedict with prosciutto- which was well received (the plate clean). Big tick to them serving them on English muffins and not on some hard piece of toast or the like that many Cafes seem to do these days.
Almond milk flat white was delish.
Always enjoy coming here ! Great service from all the team members. I had the Chicken and avocado sandwhich that's in the display next to the counter which was great ! My friends had some standard toast with eggs and some other bits and pieces which they both enjoyed very much too. Wait wasn't too bad considering how packed the place was. Love the fit out and decor of the cafe.

Very nice place especially with a table outside. I love the whole order and pay at the counter so you can just bugger off once you are finished and not have to worry about the bill. Had the eggs benedict with prosciutto which added a good saltiness to the dish and poached eggs were spot on. Crispy bacon was also very very good.

Great Cafe, uncomplicated but tasty menu. Friendly service, lovely coffee, kids sized meals available! Definitely a refreshing change on the peninsula. Will definitely be a regular.

The best and only place to eat in Dromana.Yes you may wait but it is so worth the wait. The reason the wait is because this place is busy as it is the best place where all the locals go and tourists now have heard of this place. A friendly place with great service and you must try the baked cheesecake. Everything on the is great and nothing has disappointed yet. This review is from a weekly patron as the coffee is the absolute best in Dromana.

Great Cafe on the Dromana drag. The staff are always welcoming and the food is always great for a sweet tooth. Half of the Cafe merges into an antique shop for those looking for bits and pieces I've Bean There

The food and drinks are delicious without a doubt. The main concern is the amount of time you wait. Wether you are eat in or takeaway, be prepared to wait double the time you should.
Whilst standing waiting for our coffees, we noticed only 1-2 people making coffees but more annoying than anything, they were too busy chit chatting here and there which really slowed them down.
Overall it seems they don't really know how to cope with the amount of people that come through the door. Although they have lots of staff on, there systems seem disorganised.

This place can poach an egg!!! The pumpkin dish is so yummy I added bacon and it was so nice. The eggs were perfect. The service is good the place looks cute. The coffee was nice but it was a bit cold. My partner ordered the pumpkin dish as well but was disappointed when he added chorizo that they only gave him half a chorizo. I would recommend a visit and if I was in the area I would return

I love this little Cafe the coffee is always perfect I love the atmosphere and the male staff are always so friendly they accommodate well for vegetarians and for children they have a small corner for kids to play in with toys etc. The only let down was my fiancé meal he had the roasted mushroom dish and there was alot of dirt. either in the spinach or the mushroom but it hadn't been cleaned prior to cooking and no it wasn't pepper or spices and we couldn't complain because they where so busy but we understand mistakes happen. but every other time the food has been so good. Highly recommend this little Cafe.

Walked in 5 minutes before closing and they were very patient and welcomed us to stay. They even gave us free treats to enjoy with our takeaway coffees!!! Super nice people and cute place

I love this place. It has a gorgeous atmosphere, the coffee is great. The staff couldn't be friendlier, in fact even when it's really busy the owner is always friendly and smiling. I walk my dog and sit outside with a coffee and it's perfect.

Review based on Sunday morning breakfast. We arrived at around 10.30 and got a table straight away, which was surprising but we were really thankful for it.
Small but interesting menu. We both had the Bircher muesli, which was delicious! Unfortunately, our coffees didn't arrive until after we'd both finished our breakfast and probably a good 30-40 minutes after we'd ordered them. That said, it was really busy so understandable, it looked as though the baristas were working as hard as humanly possible.
Cute decor and friendly staff with great food, highly recommended.

The staff were super friendly. Made our dining experience fantastic.
The decor is quirky - loved it.
The food was also great as were the coffees. Such a great stopover down the peninsula.
Cafe is a cute set up in an old building part antique/art store part cafe. Small but nice selection of food. We ordered coffee I got mine my husband didnt.. he received his 30mins later. He received his food though when my coffee came.I got my food after his coffee. Place needed some heating. Apart from this the scones were AMAzInG fluffy and a good size! The meals where huge i struggled taming my bacon on my plate!! It could have served two! Dromana doesn't have many cafes and the others arnt anything grand. This one is a bit quirky ☺️
